'The Price is Right' winner drives away with biggest prize in show's history

The Price is Right is known for giving away exotic vacations, fancy cars, and even cold hard cash. But no one in the CBS daytime show’s long history has won as big as Sheree L. Heil from Tacoma, Wash.

On Dec. 30, Heil won an Audi R8 V8 Spyder Quattro S Tronic worth $157,300.00, making her the biggest winner in The Price is Right daytime history. (There have been numerous primetime specials in the past couple of years offering larger prizes including $1 million.)

Happy 30th Anniversary of Plinko! Here are some of the game's best moments

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Plinko, CBS is devoted an entire episode of The Price is Right to the popular pricing game today.

For those of you not aware of the strangely named, strangely alluring game, players are given one free chip (and in a guess-the-price-game, have the chance to earn 4 more) and tasked with dropping it down a giant pegboard consisting of nine circular-shaped slots at the bottom. The slots range from $0 all the way up to $10,000 (the center slot). But the twist is that the drop is not a straight one, the chips can veer sideways or end up nowhere near your goal.

The game is both revered and maligned for it’s profoundly dumb format and requirement of no skill. NPR‘s Linda Holmes called it “the completely inferior game in which people win money by basically sliding a plastic circle through a plastic pegboard which behaves in a functionally random way to award them money. You really might as well watch people pull the handle on a slot machine or draw straws. If Plinko were called Straw Drawer, you wouldn’t think it was so great, would you?”

Rhett Allian, Wired writer, created theoretical models of the chip starting points and likely cash prize . His conclusion on best Plinko practices? “Your best bet is to start right in the middle.”

And it can be done. Watch this contestant (starting at 4:21) land the coveted $10,000 slot: READ FULL STORY

'The Price is Right' male model search down to three hunky candidates. So who should win?

After a grueling slog of killer abs and waxed chests, The Price is Right has narrowed down its search for a male model to three possible contenders: model/actor Clint Brink, model/actor Nick Denbeigh, and model/actor Rob Wilson. After an online vote, one of these dimple-flashing dudes will win a five-day run on the venerable daytime game show, with the winner revealed on the Oct. 5 episode — but who is the most deserving?

My esteemed colleague and official EW supernatural sexpert Mandi Bierly and I watched through each of these guys’ final audition videos on the Price is Right website, and then engaged in a spirited and barely salacious debate about their merits. The videos aren’t embeddable, however, so click here to watch them yourself, and then join our discussion below!  READ FULL STORY
