'Eclipse' sneak peek: Lots of action, and Lautner catching grapes

twilight-eclipseWalmart’s exclusive seven-minute sneak peek behind the scenes of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse on its Ultimate Fan Edition DVD of The Twilight Saga: New Moon has naturally leaked online. It’s embedded after the jump (at least until it’s taken down). What I got out of it? There’s going to be as much action in the film as you’d expect, considering it’s about Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard) raising an army of young vampires to help her kill Bella, and the Cullens and the Wolf Pack joining forces to protect her. We see the cast training for their fight scenes, performing on wires, and getting thrown around. Totally enjoyable.

While I’m a sucker for the simple imagery of Dakota Fanning removing Jane’s hood, I’m also a sucker for Taylor Lautner doing flips. Seriously, the guy just stands around doing back flips because he can. IN A ROBE. The crew also enjoyed having Taylor go long and then throwing grapes into his mouth. This would’ve been how I chose to pass downtime as well.

Despite the fun and games on the set, which even serious director David Slade got into (jousting, anyone?), there is a darker, “more realistic” tone to the film. As Howard says, with Bella having to choose between becoming a vampire and staying with her true love Edward, or remaining human and settling for Jacob, the question is, “Will she give up her life or will she give up her life?” We’re treated to one scene from Eclipse, the bedroom talk about consequences that’s in the trailer. “You believe I have a soul, and I don’t. But to risk yours, just for the sake of never having to lose you, is the most selfish thing I’ll ever do,” Edward says. It must be exciting for someone who doesn’t know how this story ends. But for me, I’d have preferred an action sequence, something with Victoria, who still manages to look badass doing green screen. READ FULL STORY

'Eclipse' trailer is here: So is the new Victoria

The full trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has debuted online. Somehow, watching Jacob profess his love to Bella pales to seeing the leaping entrance of Bryce Dallas Howard as Victoria. (Perhaps because he’s got his shirt on.) Maybe it’s just the fact that her locks are more sleek and fiery than Rachelle Lefevre’s, but I already approve of Howard. She feels like a more worthy opponent for the more mature Edward (those new contacts are working), Jacob, and Bella.

What do you think? Do we need to start a Team Victoria? Is the darker tone of Eclipse playing like you thought it would?

'Eclipse' trailer tease!

The full trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will debut online Friday at 9 a.m. ET, but today, we’ve got a 10-second tease. And that is just enough time for Edward and Jacob to sound like stalkers if taken out of context (Edward: “I know the consequences of this choice you’re making”; Jacob: “I’m gonna fight for you until your heart stops beating”) and for us to get a shirtless shot of Taylor Lautner.

What do you think? I’m slightly horrified that I noted and appreciated the continuity of Bella’s bed comforter.

Taylor Lautner's 'Abduction': Loving his action line-up, need to see some talented costars

According to Variety, Lionsgate has scored the much-hyped script Abduction, with Taylor Lautner attached to star. As we described it earlier this month, it’s a “spy-actioner along the lines of Bourne Identity, but with teenagers.” The trade says Lautner will play “a young man who discovers his own baby picture on a missing persons website.” We presume he then tries to figure out who he really is while on the run, and that it’s someone who’s good at karate since Lautner is a black belt.

Lautner wanted to do a full-blown action movie after the Twilight series, and between this, Max Steel, and Stretch Armstrong, his wish is more than granted. The action-route is a smart one for Lautner, who is apparently determined to carry a film on his shoulders and needs to build his male fanbase. But we haven’t heard of any costars cast for these films yet, and for Lautner to mature as an actor, he’s going to need to share the set with seasoned pros (Valentine’s Day doesn’t count). I’m guessing there will be talented stars who will a) see the box office draw of Lautner and b) be told how happy an introduction to Lautner would make their child, and they’ll step up. Let’s just get on with it already. I want to know Lautner is being taken seriously in Hollywood (being asked to present at the Oscars was a good sign), but I can’t be sure until he’s not the only name attached to a film.

So to recap, A-listers: Someone sign on for the cash, for your offspring, and for me.

Will you see 'Remember Me' for the 'Eclipse' trailer?

Summit Entertainment has announced that the trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will debut in front of the studio’s Robert Pattinson film Remember Me in theaters March 12. Sure, on one hand it could be perceived as a cheap way to lure bodies into the seats. On the other, if you’d pay money just to see the Eclipse trailer, chances are you were already going to see Remember Me. Right? Poll!

P.S. How awful would it have been if ABC had tried to lure young viewers into the Oscars telecast by premiering the Eclipse trailer during the March 7 awards?! Kristen Stewart tells E! Online she and Taylor Lautner will be presenting. That’s acceptable…Right?

Is 'Breaking Dawn' in 3D a good idea? PopWatch poll!

As Summit Entertainment continues to decide whether to turn Breaking Dawn, the fourth and final book in the Twilight saga, into two films, there is another question on the table as well: To 3D or not to 3D? But instead of just sitting back and waiting for a decision, we decided a PopWatch poll was in order to let execs (and Stephenie Meyer) know how YOU feel about a 3D treatment for the final films. Before we take it to a vote, let’s look at the pros and cons. SPOILER ALERT! READ FULL STORY

Happy 18th Birthday, Taylor Lautner! Bicep Watch no longer pervy.

YouTube is alive with the sound of fans wishing Taylor Lautner a Happy 18th birthday. A few of our favorites:

We love how she uses the occasion to diss her little sister and tries to direct comments. You can leave one, but don’t make it just about how hot he is. Also, that her aspirations are to work with him and win a Teen Choice or MTV Movie Award.

Taylor Lautner to suit up for DirecTV's Celebrity Beach Bowl

Quick, find a friend who has DirecTV. Taylor Lautner has signed on for the 4th Annual DirecTV Celebrity Beach Bowl, a flag football game featuring NFL greats and celebs, airing live on the 101 Network Feb. 6 at 2:30 p.m. ET from Miami. Lautner will be joined by the likes of Christian Slater, Guy Fieri, and Kevin Dillon — and Eli Manning, Troy Aikman and Warren Moon. While the rest of teams’ rosters are still being confirmed, let no one say that Lautner got the nod on his name alone. At least not anyone who saw him fire a couple of passes to Jerry Rice to earn his Twilight Saga: New Moon plug on The Jay Leno Show.

P.S. Taylor, I’m sure Florida has lots of senior citizen bowling alleys for you to hang out at…
