'Warm Bodies': Which supernatural is right for you?

It’s time for Mystery Date: Supernatural Edition! While the whole vampire craze may be drawing to a close (Twilight: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 comes out on DVD March 2) 2013 is still on track to be a huge year for those that love the supernatural. Apologies to viewers who enjoy their zombies more in the style of Walking Dead, but it’s looking like the biggest trend is more romance, less death and destruction. Warm Bodies, in theaters today, centers around a love story between zombie R. and a human, Julie. It’s a great read – and surprisingly, in between the killing and the brain eating, a wonderfully original and charming boy-ish meets girl tale.

Which got us thinking: Readers probably have their personal favorites when it comes to the guys that portray these vampires, zombies, and werewolves (Ian Somerhalder, Robert Pattinson, Alexander Skarsgard, etc.) But what if we took the actors out of it? Based solely on the plotlines in the current books/movies/television shows, which supernatural should you, a “normal” human with a slight love on danger, attempt to begin a relationship with? The answer may surprise you – or help you justify a couple all-too-real conversations about an alleged hypothetical situation (ahem).

A newbie and a superfan discuss 'Breaking Dawn -- Part 2.' Will the romance work on a Twi-virgin?

ADAM B. VARY: Last year, I guided my colleague Dan Snierson through his very first experience with a wizard named Harry Potter — Dan had neither read J.K. Rowling’s books nor seen any of the movies, and we both wanted to see what would happen when a Potter newbie watched the final Potter movie. He had fun, I had fun, and I daresay at least four or five readers of our subsequent conversation about the experience had fun too.

And now it would seem the wand is in the other hand, or the the promise ring is on the other finger, or something. Because as I write these words, the final feature film in The Twilight Saga is nigh upon us, but this time, I’m the one who has never read any of Stephenie Meyer’s books nor seen any of the feature films. As I gear up to become the pop-culture guinea pig and see Breaking Dawn — Part 2 with only the second-hand knowledge I’ve absorbed walking the halls of EW, you, Denise Warner, have bravely agreed to escort me through all the vampiric romance and Taylor Lautner shirtlessness. I mean, there will be shirtlessness, right?

DENISE WARNER: You know, I can’t promise shirtlessness. READ FULL STORY

'Twilight' is a marathon, not a sprint

When I volunteered to watch a five-movie Twilight Saga marathon, I’ll admit I didn’t fully anticipate the challenges and doubts I’d encounter along the way. As the weeks, then days, then hours ticked down, I realized I’d need to get my head in the game. I trained like any marathoner would, honing skills appropriate to the course — subsisting on a diet of carbohydrates, carbonated drinks, and stale air; sitting on my rear for long periods of time, and abandoning all thoughts of age-appropriate content or cinematic quality. Also like any marathoner, I blacked out for long periods of time between the start and finish lines. But! Here’s what I do remember… READ FULL STORY

'Twilight: Breaking Dawn -- Part 2': On-the-scene fan reactions

If you’re at the midnight premiere of Twilight: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 (well, technically, a 10 p.m. Thursday night show) chances are you’re already more than familiar about what exactly goes down in the finale of the vampire saga. With my colleagues Lanford Beard (who was coming off an all-day Twilight marathon) and Denise Warner, we braved the first public showtime in Manhattan alongside a – no surprise – sold-out crowd. More surprising was how adult and costume-free our group seemed to be.

While our theater clearly was audibly buzzing with anticipation, the dirty little secret is that in the book, not a whole heck of a lot happens in the second half of Breaking Dawn. There’s a Volturi battle, and an arm-wrestling match (What big muscles you have, Emmett!), but there’s also a ton of contemplative stares and thoughts on Jacob’s relationship with Renesmee. So you can forgive fans for being a little skeptical, albeit excited, when I asked them for their thoughts prior to the final film release. READ FULL STORY

Taylor Lautner's Madame Tussauds wax figure will not be shirtless

taylor-lautner-clay.jpg

Two years after Robert Pattinson’s wax figure was unveiled, Taylor Lautner is finally getting his due. Madame Tussauds New York will unveil Lautner’s wax figure on Nov. 15 at 11 a.m. ET. Pictured is the clay sculpture that artists used to create the mold and cast of his head. We have definite stubble. As for what clothing Lautner will be immortalized in, the press release says he’s “styled in a tailored charcoal grey suit and black dress shirt with an open collar.” I suppose that’s more timeless than a soft charcoal grey T-shirt underneath a soft black leather jacket, which could be removed in the summer months to showcase his biceps. Not that I’ve given this any thought.

Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner's first 'Breaking Dawn' interview together -- VIDEO

Awkwardness or no awkwardness, the Twilight trio have a movie to promote, and last night Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner made their first joint appearance since The Event last summer on MTV First.

I’m no body language expert, but I’ve studied my fair share of tabloids, and I would say that the interview was just as goofy and awkward as appearances by the trio normally are. Pattinson and Stewart joked around with each other — and, because I know you’re wondering, both joked around with Lautner too. Poor Lautner. Stuck in the middle of it all.

The chat was strictly about Twilight, with the only real mention of their lives outside the phenomenon being when Pattinson and Stewart were asked about their Halloween costumes. Stewart went as Natalie Portman’s character from the film Closer, saying that she “loved that movie.” (I can’t imagine why…) Pattinson, next to her in photos that were shown, wore “a three-dollar mask from 7/11.”

Beyond that, it was full steam ahead on promoting Breaking Dawn. They talked about looking forward to Breaking Dawn: Part 2 and also reminisced on first auditions, catching up with special guest Stephenie Meyer and whether or not they’ve got another MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss in the bag. (Spoiler alert: Yes.)

Other tidbits that were revealed in the 30-minute interview (which you can watch in full on MTV.com)? Read on. READ FULL STORY

Kellan Lutz says he'll win an Oscar someday

From vampire red blood to Oscar’s red carpet?

Kellan Lutz (who plays Edward’s big bro Emmett in the Twilight franchise) recently told DuJour magazine, “I want to act for the rest of my life. I’ll win an Oscar one day, but I’m in no rush to get there. I don’t care if that takes me 50 years, and I’m old. I just love what I do.”

While I think we can all agree Lutz won’t be receiving an Oscar for his body of work in Twilight, who knows what the future will hold? His previous roles (90210, Stick It) haven’t required much of him beyond his good looks, but perhaps the future will showcase the talent buried underneath his pounds of muscle. READ FULL STORY

Who is Taylor Swift 'Never Ever Getting Back Together' with? (THEORIES!)

As day turns into night, so Taylor Swift turns a broken relationship into a new hit pop song. Indeed, at this point, it could be argued that Taylor Swift specifically dates people just so she can seek inspiration from breaking up with them — or perhaps Swift’s romances occur in a quantum state, such that she is simultaneously in love with her paramour and already writing the first draft of their break-up song. In any case, this week Swift released the sternly-worded “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” a charming little ditty about an on-again/off-again relationship that is ultimately off-again-forever. The Internet is already buzzing with rumors about the identity of the subject of “Never Ever.” We analyzed the most likely candidates, and using science, we came up with the odds that the song was actually about them. Taylor Swift tops Forbes' 'Highest-Paid Celebs Under 30' list

Want to feel like an underachiever?

Forbes magazine has released its annual list of the richest entertainers under 30. And it’s no surprise that Taylor Swift wins something yet again, raking in over $57 million from May 2011 to May 2012. The 22-year-old had the Speak Now world tour during that time, which Forbes said brought in a cool $1 million a night.

Last year’s $90 million Monster winner Lady Gaga came in fourth this year, earning $52 million. Forbes attributes the drop to the fact that she didn’t tour during the time frame, and notes that she’s currently selling out shows in Eastern Europe and they expect a jump next year. (Although, $52 million is not exactly a failure.) READ FULL STORY
