This Week's Cover: Revelations about ABC's 'Revenge' lead our Winter TV Preview

When EW’s TV staff sat down to decide what to feature on our Winter TV Preview cover, the discussion repeatedly came back the one show we couldn’t stop talking about: ABC’s buzzy prime-time soap, Revenge. Throughout the fall, the new series — we refer to it as “TV’s greatest guilty pleasure” — had provided a multitude of outrageous cliff-hangers and OMG! moments that had the tongues of viewers wagging constantly.

However, there was one big question: Could Revenge possibly continue to sizzle so much in the coming months? EW is happy to report that, yes — after talking to the show’s players for our cover, featuring romantic leads Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) and Daniel Grayson (Josh Bowman) — Revenge has only just begun to rev its engine, which is full of explosive revelations that will delight fans all the way through to its May season finale. This week’s cover story previews the drama’s upcoming new episodes — a jaw-dropping pair airing Feb. 8 and Feb. 15 — where we’ll finally learn what actually happened in the deadly beach scene outside Emily and Daniel’s engagement party that opened the series’ juicy September pilot, which then flashed back and followed Emily as she embarked on her journey of revenge against her enemies.

There are so many questions: Who’s dead? Who’s the killer? How does everyone we’ve come to know and love — and love to hate — on Revenge fit into this mess? We do our best to answer those, and break out the 10 things we’re most looking forward to in the coming episodes of Revenge, in this week’s issue. Here a few of those juicy points to whet your appetite:

Who was 2011's worst-dressed TV character?

Let’s face it: Not everyone on TV can be Victoria Grayson (Madeline Stowe), whose immaculate gown collection on Revenge makes her look like she’s stepped out of a magical silk sea that changes jewel tones at her every whim and envelops her in liquid wealth for every occasion — “breakfast,” for example. Nope, sometimes people on TV just look like crap. I’ve started a list of 2011′s Worst-Dressed TV People below. But it will likely seem as incomplete as Kurt’s ridiculous one-sleeved cowl-neck sweater on Glee, so please add your own suggestions in the comments! READ FULL STORY

Snooki, Michele Bachmann top 'Bad Science List'

The Sense About Science (SAS) campaign has named Jersey Shore doctor of grain liquor Snooki and Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann as two of 2011′s worst offenders of Bad Science. Bachmann went on TV to tell a story of a Tampa woman who claimed her daughter had become “mentally retarded” from an HPV vaccine, and Snooki — well, Snooki’s sort of a science experiment gone wrong in so many (and some delightful) ways that I’d like to give her scientific claim its own paragraph. Let it breathe a little, like seamen amidst a gust of sea air.

“I don’t really like the beach. I hate sharks, and the water’s all whale sperm. That’s why the ocean’s salty.”

The untethered inclusion of “I hate sharks” in there is almost poetic. Think about it for a few seconds. NO, I’m just kidding, don’t hurt yourselves. READ FULL STORY

This year's pop-culture time capsule: What will be your 2011 keepsakes?

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, PopWatchers, is to help me put together a 2011 pop-culture time capsule. It’s been a year of change that swept from the lowest brow (Two and a Half Men) to the highest (the Arab Spring). We saw many great people pass on and many more step into the spotlight. With all this in mind, what cultural relics would you pick to communicate this strange and marvelous year to the future? Check out my picks, then add your own ideas to the mix. READ FULL STORY

Fall TV post-mort: What are you still watching? DVR'ing?

Let’s think back for a moment to the start of the fall TV season when we were giddy with hope and optimism about all the new (Hart of DixieNew Girl! The X Factor!) and old (Modern Family! Glee! Fringe!) shows we’d watch in the months ahead. Back then I posted a series of blog posts outlining what I planned to view live versus DVR every night of the week. At the time, I really did have every intention of sticking to my schedule, but naturally as the weeks wore on and plotlines developed my interests began to waver, for better and for worse. I’m sure you know what I mean, unless you’re one of those people who actually follows through with your goals, in which case we can’t be friends. Nevertheless, now that we’re in the midst of the dreaded hiatus period, I figured it would be a good time to reflect on where we started off this season and where we ended up. Check out my day-by-day post-mort below, beginning with all the shows I so naively intended to watch: READ FULL STORY

Best of 2011 (Behind the Scenes): 'Revenge' writer Nikki Toscano on the line that had everyone buzzing

As 2011 comes to a close, EW.com wanted to honor some of the hardworking names and faces from behind the scenes for their outstanding achievements. Nikki Toscano, a writer on this year’s addictive new drama Revenge, is one of many people behind the scenes at this show whom you might not know by name, but you certainly know her words — particularly because she’s responsible for one of EW.com’s favorite soundbites of the year. Read on as she talks about the season’s 5th episode, “Guilt.” For more behind the scenes access to the year’s best TV and movie scenes, click here for EW.com‘s Best of 2011: Behind the Scenes coverage.

“Never underestimate the power of guilt, Amanda. It compels people to some pretty remarkable places.” These were David Clarke’s words to his daughter, and the theme of “Guilt” — the lengths we will go to get rid of guilt, the length we will go to embrace it, and of course, the fun of doing it Revenge-style.

“Guilt” was a rocking episode from the start. You kind of can’t go wrong when you have to craft your episode around one of your main characters doing a swan dive off a building onto a taxicab. READ FULL STORY

TV Leaderboard: 'Once Upon a Time' casts a spell on EW.com readers

TV Leaderboard: 'Community' scares its way to the top of EW.com reader rankings

Since the start of the fall TV season, only two shows have been tops with EW.com readers: The Vampire Diaries and Breaking Bad. To that storied list we can now add NBC’s wily and weird Thursday night cult comedy Community, which tickled and (perhaps) terrified viewers with a Halloween anthology episode. Meanwhile, Once Upon a Time‘s series premiere landed just out of the top five. Check out the complete rankings below:  READ FULL STORY
