PopWatch Planner: 'Arrow', 'Scandal' mid-season finales, 'American Hustle' in theaters, more

As we head into the holiday season, it’s time to cherish the final weeks before all of our favorite television shows go on their winter hiatuses. As much as it hurts to say goodbye, mid-season finales mark the (second) best — behind actual season finales, of course — time of the year for TV.

So this week is all about catching every possible mid-season finale that you can, and then running to the theater for a little Jennifer Lawrence-Bradley Cooper reunion.

All times listed are Eastern.

Unless, of course, one shocking finale is all you can take in one night.

THURSDAY 12/12

Scandal, 10 p.m., ABC

Thursday night is the mid-season finale jackpot. From The Vampire Diaries to Grey’s Anatomy, Parenthood, Reign, and the always shocking Scandal, you can’t go wrong. However, Liv dealing with her father (and Sally dealing with her “sin”) is at the top of our list.

FRIDAY 12/13

Gary Oldman reads from R. Kelly's autobiography on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' -- VIDEO

Gary Oldman performed a dramatic reading from R.Kelly’s autobiography Soulacoaster: The Diary of Me on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night, dressed in a tux and complete with his British accent.

The dapper actor, who will star in this month’s The Dark Knight Rises, reenacted a conversation between Tupac Shakur — or Pak, as R Kelly refers to him — and Kelly about collaborating on an album.

Watch the video below to see Oldman read such insightful prose as ”Just wanted to holler at you” and ”We’ll just let it do what it do.”
