Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2003: Was he trying to tell us something?

Today, while doing our journalistic duties, we happened upon a Vanity Fair Proust Questionnaire from 2003 conducted with then-gubernatorial candidate Arnold Schwarzenegger.

There, among the series of personality questions like “What is your greatest fear?” and “What is your idea of perfect happiness?”, we discovered this little gem:

VANITY FAIR: Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
ARNOLD:
“Maria, I said I’m sorry” and “Yes, dear.”

Quote of the Day: Back to School Edition

“I ain’t goin’ to school, it starts too early for me. Well, listen man, I ain’t goin’ to school no more. It starts much, much TOO early for me. I don’t care about readin’, writin’, rithmitic or history.” — The Stray Cats, “Sexy & 17″

Quote of the Day: Joan Collins edition

Joan-Collins-Marple_l“Have you seen the filth they serve in this place? Beige, beige…everything’s beige!” –Ruth Van Rydock (Joan Collins), disparaging the food at her sister’s estate, in Marple: They Do It

Quote of the Day: Warren Zevon edition

“If I leave you it doesn’t mean I love you any less / Keep me in your heart for awhile.” — Warren Zevon in “Keep Me In Your Heart”

Despite mixed feelings about Funny People, I thought this song was a superb choice.

John Hughes' greatest movie quotes: 'Breakfast Club,' 'Sixteen Candles,' more...

The best evidence of John Hughes’ impact on popular culture might be the generation of people who grew up in the 1980s and ’90s who can recite multiple quotes from his movies from off the top of their heads. Here are a choice few from Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, Ferris Bueller, and more. Kick back with some of the quotes and clips below, then let us know your personal favorites in the comments.

‘The Breakfast Club’ (1985)

“Does Barry Manilow know that you raid his wardrobe?” (quote at 0:12) — John Bender (Judd Nelson)

Quote of the day: 'Speed' (and bonus 'Sixteen Candles') edition

“I got gum on my seat! Gum!” — Annie Porter (Sandra Bullock) in Speed

It’s apparently National Fresh Breath Day, so I really wanted to post the scene from 16 Candles where The Geek and Samantha are sitting in the autoshop car, and he says “fresh breath is a priority of my life.” Alas, embedding was disabled, so I went with the next logical breath-freshening quote about gum. Enjoy minty freshness all day, PopWatchers!

Quote of the day: 'Homicide: Life on the Street' edition

“That’s gonna be four Hail Marys and three Our Fathers, boys.” — Detective Munch (Richard Belzer) on Homicide: Life on the Street

Happy birthday, Richard Belzer!

Quote of the Day: 'Fried Green Tomatoes' edition

"Face it, girls. I'm older and I have more insurance." — Evelyn Couch (Kathy Bates), to the women whose car she's just slammed into — repeatedly — after they stole her parking space and said "Face it, lady. We're younger and faster," in 1991's Fried Green Tomatoes

Quote of the Day: 'Die, Mommie, Die!' Edition

"You've slipped into my life as easily as vermouth into a glass of gin: Quickly, and just a bit too smooth. Your life is a locked file cabinet of dark, ugly secrets. I have it on excellent authority, by way of every hair-burner in West Hollywood, that the favors you receive are not only courtesy of the ladies, but les garçons as well." –Angela Arden (Charles Busch) taunting highly paid jeee-go-lo Tony Parker (Jason Priestley) in Die, Mommie, Die! (Jump ahead to the 3:21 mark to watch the camp brilliance unfold!)

Quote of the day: Rufus Wainwright edition

"I will take my coffee black / never snack / hang with the wolves who are sheepish." — Rufus Wainwright, who celebrates his 36th birthday today
