'The Vampire Diaries': Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley give us their season 6 wish lists

The fate of The Vampire Diaries and where the series goes from Thursday’s finale may be in the hands of executive producers Julie Plec and Caroline Dries, but that doesn’t mean the stars of CW’s steamy vampire drama don’t have their own ideas about what they’d love to see for their characters. We caught up with TVD stars Nina Dobrev (Elena), Paul Wesley (Stefan), and Ian Somerhalder (Damon) to discuss their character wish lists for season 6. Check out what they had to say below: READ FULL STORY

'Vampire Diaries': Paul Wesley teases finale, takes our Pop Culture Personality Test -- VIDEO

Paul-Wesley-PCPT.jpg

As fans of The Vampire Diaries brace for the season 5 finale and hope it ends with Paul Wesley’s Stefan returning from The Other Side, the cast has one recommendation: “Bring a box of tissues because you’re going to cry,” Nina Dobrev tells EW. “I did.”

While Wesley is tight-lipped on the tearjerker, we did get the following out of him at The CW’s Upfront in New York: Viewers will see more familiar faces. Will Stefan interact with them? “Maybe,” he says. Will the hour bring an end to The Other Side storyline? “I sure as hell hope so,” he jokes. And what if Stefan’s still on it if/when it ceases to exist? “Well, s–t happens,” he quips.

Time for questions the man can actually answer? We thought so, too. Watch Wesley take our Pop Culture Personality Test below. He reveals his first celebrity crush, the movie scene that scared him as a child (particularly funny when you think about how Stefan died in season 5’s penultimate episode), his go-to karaoke song, and his most prized pop culture possession. No tears. All laughs. We swear. READ FULL STORY

'The Vampire Diaries': Let's talk about THAT twist!

Spoiler alert: If you haven’t watched the May 8 episode of The Vampire Diaries, stop reading now! I mean it. Don’t you DARE ruin this for yourself!

Last night, my whole world came crashing to the ground … sort of. In the final moments of the Vampire Diaries penultimate episode, the unthinkable happened: The Traveler currently inhabiting Tyler’s body ripped out Stefan’s heart, a.k.a. Stefan is now on the other side and in danger of total extinction, a.k.a. Stefan Salvatore is dead and about two minutes away from being permanently dead dead.

In the moment, my reaction was fairly simple: “No, no, no. But wait, no.” That deep thought was then followed by a second of pure unadulterated fear that this show might actually kill Stefan, a reaction I blame 100 percent on The Good Wife for making me believe anything is possible. But that was quickly followed by a deep breath, and suddenly I was back to the place where I thought this was a great twist, but obviously not something that they could have stick. READ FULL STORY

'The Vampire Diaries': Why is Silas (and new Stefan) so much hotter than old Stefan? PopWatch investigates!

For weeks now, I’ve been reading comments (and talking to my roommate) about how very attractive Silas is on The Vampire Diaries. It’s an odd conversation considering Silas is played by the always attractive Paul Wesley, who’s been on the show as Stefan for four years now. So what has changed? Well, at first, I thought it had to do with the character of Silas, which I do believe is part of it, but then when Stefan showed up on the scene without his memory and looking a little yummier than usual, the mystery grew.

What is it exactly about this season/these characters? Well, there are several reasons why Silas/New Stefan is more attractive than Old Stefan (who, just for the record, was always incredibly attractive):

Sunlight/You can actually see his green eyes: The cast and crew of TVD constantly talk about how dark their show is, and it’s on purpose. They’re always telling the lighting department to make things darker. And although that’s good and fine, it makes it difficult to decipher Wesley’s already-dark features. READ FULL STORY

'The Vampire Diaries' turns 4 today! Here are 20 things we're thankful it gave us -- VIDEOS

Four years ago today, something supernatural happened: The Vampire Diaries premiered on The CW. And just like that, we fell into the world of Mystic Falls, Va., where the hot new guy in town had a sexy (albeit dangerous) secret, Bonnie was “psychic,” Jeremy was in his drug phase, Elena was sick of faking a smile, and no one knew what a  “moonstone” was.

That, of course, would all change, just as we, the viewers, would change right along with it as TVD exposed us to countless wonderful things. Here’s our list of the 20 things we want to thank The Vampire Diaries for giving us:

'The Vampire Diaries': Damon/Elena vs. Stefan/Elena -- VOTE

In honor of March Madness, EW is launching a tournament to determine the Greatest TV Couple of All Time. But before we can finalize the brackets, we are turning to you, our hopeless TV romantic readers, to decide which five couples — all part of a love triangle on their respective shows — make it out of a qualifying round to fill the final slots. Today, we’re debating Stefan & Elena versus Damon & Elena on The Vampire Diaries.

It’s the age-old tale of two brothers, one girl, a whole lot of lust. Blood lust actually. In the Vampire Diaries world, the only thing that can come between Salvatore brothers Stefan and Damon is Mystic Falls’ very own doppelgänger, Miss Elena Gilbert. And it just so happens that between the brothers is where Elena tends to stay (and we can’t blame her). Elena has perfected the art of choosing one Salvatore, only to change her mind episodes later. To be fair, she doesn’t have an easy decision. I mean, have you seen those two?

If you have, then you should understand why we can’t choose between them. We love Damon’s blue eyes and snarky comments just as much as we love Stefan’s green eyes and brooding ways. But in order to determine the Greatest TV Couple of All Time, a choice has to be made. Put yourself in Elena’s shoes: Stelena or Delena. READ FULL STORY
