Channing Tatum reveals the 'Magic Mike XXL' plot

Our wait for details on the Magic Mike sequel set to hit theaters in July 2015 is over, ladies and (gay) gentlemen. Thanks to GQ’s July 2014 cover story on Channing Tatum (read it here in its entirety) we now know the plot will revolve around our favorite male exotic dancers going to a strippers’ convention. According to GQ, that’s the first memory of his stripper days Tatum shared with his producing partner Reid Carolin when pitching the first film: “I want to do the story of when I’m in a dark U-Haul with a bunch of these guys and we’re doing drugs driving up to the stripper convention.” Magic Mike director Steven Soderbergh told them the idea wasn’t a scene in the movie — it was a movie in itself. So the sequel will now be inspired by two conventions Tatum attended when he was 19. “The women would come from miles and miles around,” Tatum says, recalling one audience numbering 3,000. “Then you lock the doors and you say all bets are off. It gets zany and crazy, and it’s a wild ride. It’s an incubator for insanity. It doesn’t matter almost what you do onstage. I don’t want to put anything in black and white on a page, but if you’ve been to one, you know how crazy it gets, and now pour kerosene on that. You’ve seen Magic Mike — now multiply that. Mob mentality. It’s just exponentially crazier. I thought it was absolutely insane.” READ FULL STORY

Neil Patrick Harris bares all for 'Rolling Stone' cover

Rolling Stone really likes its cover subjects naked. In April, their cover featuring a nude Julia Louis-Dreyfus made headlines (both because Louis-Dreyfus was naked and because there was a big-time factual error involved) and now, Neil Patrick Harris takes center-stage on the cover of its latest issue in all his bare-skinned glory.

Let's all just stop talking about the nudity on 'Girls'

We are not capable of talking about nudity in pop culture. We’re terrible at it. Look at this Girls thing. A journalist asked a poorly-phrased question, which the Girls producers interpreted in the least accurate manner possible. Everybody was their worst self. Then the journalist tried to clarify his question in a post on TheWrap. It’s a well-written post in which everyone comes off terribly: The journalist, the producers, men, women. READ FULL STORY

Miley Cyrus says she's playing a character, doesn't understand why flashing is a big deal

If you’re someone still trying to figure out the mind of Miley Cyrus, a new New York Times interview may help. You weren’t supposed to take her VMA performance as a declaration of her lifestyle: “I went from people just thinking I was, like, a baby to people thinking I’m this, like, sex freak that really just pops molly and does lines all day. It’s like, ‘Has anyone ever heard of rock ’n’ roll?’ There’s a sex scene in pretty much every single movie, and they go, ‘Well, that’s a character.’ Well, that’s a character. I don’t really dress as a teddy bear and, like, twerk on Robin Thicke, you know?”

Other revelations: According to Cyrus, it’s not just former Disney stars who are forced to be PG rather than themselves. “I’ll get someone to, like, flash me, and they’ll be, like, ‘You have to delete it!’ I had to do that when I was 14 or 15, but even then I didn’t care. Like, if someone was videoing me ripping a bong, I didn’t care, so it’s just funny to me. I’m like: ‘Dude, you’re 30. Like, why can’t someone see a picture of your [breasts]?'” (Since when is marketability the only reason NOT to want your breasts exposed, Miley?) READ FULL STORY

'True Blood' poll: Is it okay to admit you like Warlow?

Good storytelling means characters aren’t always what they first appear to be. But when the stakes are as high as they are on a supernatural show like True Blood, misjudgments can be deadly. Perhaps that’s why I can’t decide how I feel about Warlow, the big bad turned sensitive stud played by Pacific Rim‘s Rob Kazinsky. Or rather, why I feel guilty admitting I like him as much as I do. Let’s break it down. Spoiler alert, if you haven’t seen this week’s episode: READ FULL STORY
