'The Bachelorette' starts tonight -- will you be ready?

The-Bachelorette

Are you a Bachelorette addict? Well, the first step on the road to recovery is admitting you have a problem — and bookmarking EW.com. Emily “Tragic Single Mom” Maynard kicks off her husband-seeking “journey” tonight, and we here at Rose Lovers Central have so much coverage planned, it’s almost embarrassing. (Actually, drop the “almost.”) Here’s a quick rundown of everything you can expect:

Watch The Bachelorette with author Jennifer Weiner — every week! Yes, the best-selling novelist (In Her Shoes, Little Earthquakes, Then Came You) and confessed Bachelor/Bachelorette junkie will be joining EW readers in the ViEWer room to live blog Emily’s “journey” all season. Log on tonight at 9:30 p.m. (EST) right here as Weiner leads a wine-fueled discussion about Emily, her suitors, and all of the rose-seeking shenanigans.

Chris Harrison’s back as EW.com’s exclusive Bachelorette blogger! Everyone’s favorite reality TV host (at least, everyone I know) and blogger extraordinaire will be back to share his behind-the-scenes insights and wry personal take on every episode. Got burning Bachelorette questions? Ask them in the comments — he’ll answer them in his blog (which will post Tuesday mornings all season long) and in Entertainment Weekly.

Need more? Read my weekly recaps! No, seriously, please do. Otherwise, my 10-year love/hate relationship with this godforsaken reality TV franchise has been in vain.

See you tonight, rose lovers! It’s going to be the most dramatic onslaught of online Bachelorette coverage… EVER!

Alec Baldwin, Bradley Cooper, Tom Hanks and more join Michelle Obama’s veteran aid campaign -- VIDEO

They may not have been enlisted by the commander-in-chief, but a host of A-list celebrities have been drafted by the First Lady for a different kind of military campaign: Alec Baldwin, Bradley Cooper, Michael Douglas and other stars have lent their celestial power to a new PSA for Michelle Obama’s “Got Your Six” campaign, which aims to help military veterans find jobs, education and housing and altogether re-enter civilian life.

The PSA campaign features a number of celebrities–including Tom Hanks, Judith Light, Tracy Morgan, Sarah Jessica Parker, Pharrell Williams and Brian Williams–repeating the expression “I’ve got your six,” which in the military means “I’ve got your back” (referring to the number six’s directional position on the clock). Watch the first of several PSAs after the jump: READ FULL STORY »

'Desperate Housewives': Watch (almost all of) Wisteria Lane's grisly deaths -- VIDEO

Death has always been big on Wisteria Lane.

That became extremely apparent back in March, when former Desperate Housewives star Nicollette Sheridan took ABC Studios to court over the on-screen death of her character Edie Britt, who she said was killed off the show in retaliation for an incident the actress had with series creator Marc Cherry. One of the central questions during those proceedings was: Does Desperate Housewives actually kill off big characters like Edie? A chunk of ABC’s defense was spent trying to prove that, partly by including a video montage of all the characters that had been killed. Said video was a doozy, featuring dozens of deaths on the show. Up until that point, Sheridan’s character was arguably the biggest character to bite the dust, although Susan Delfino’s husband Mike (James Denton) would soon meet his maker. (Hatcher was none too happy about that, although she didn’t take ABC to court over it.)

The short answer to the Desperate Housewives death question, though, is: Yes, they do kill of characters. So, in anticipation of the show’s series finale on Sunday, May 13 — which may include a death or two? — ABC has released a funny video montage of all the grim reaping that Wisteria Lane has witnessed over its eight seasons. Although it’s clearly not the same montage that was used in court, it’s a pretty fun romp and a reminder of all those great moments. Not to mention it’s cheekily set to “Another One Bites the Dust.”

Interestingly enough, the demise of Sheridan’s vampy Edie is nowhere to be found, but the shooting of James Denton’s plumber Mike is featured prominently right in the middle of the montage, which also includes the ends of fave characters like Martha Huber (Christine Estabrook), Frank Kaminsky (Larry Hagman), Nora Huntington (Kiersten Warren), and Victor Lang (John Slattery). Prepare for Sunday evening by enjoying the video here:

'Expendables 2' nickname generator: I am Boom Boom

Back in March 2010, when the first trailer for The Expendables hit, we said the film could have the best action movie character names ever. Now, we can all join in the fun, thanks to The Expendables 2‘s new “badass nickname” generator app. I got Boom Boom, which I think would be tough to beat. Darren Franich got The Mutilator and Silent Assassin (some people can’t just do it once.*) And Laura Hertzfeld is now going by Skull Crusher. Your turn.

* He also entered the name “Timothy Olyphant” and got Night Train. Okay, that tops Boom Boom.

Your Avengers marathon survival guide: When to pee, get a snack, and check in with Mom and Dad

avengers-assembled

Braving AMC Theatres’ epic Avengers movie marathon today? We applaud your stamina — and your chutzpah. (Not just anyone has the stones to fake the flu so they can watch grown men run around in silly costumes for nearly 14 hours.) Contrary to some joyless jerk’s belief, watching six movies in a row isn’t easy; while the spirit is willing, the flesh requires multiple snack and bathroom breaks. Luckily, EW is here to help.

We’ve carefully examined all five Avengers prequels — Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America — to determine when it’s safe to duck out of the theater without having to worry about missing anything important. (Read: Fight scenes and shots of Scarlett Johansson.) Load up this page before the marathon starts at 11:30 — by the time midnight rolls around, you’ll be prepared to sit still for a full two hours and 22 minutes as Joss Whedon’s new epic plays.

You’re welcome, America.

Hulu might restrict access to those with cable subscriptions -- eventually

hulu-logo_320.jpg

Here’s some potentially bad news for cable cutters: The New York Post writes that free streaming site Hulu might eventually become a Pay-TV-subscribers-only zone. Last fall, Fox began limiting access to its most popular series on Hulu; while Dish TV, Verizon Fios, and Hulu Plus subscribers can still watch shows like Glee the day after they air, everyone else must wait an additional eight days if they want to view for free.

And according to the Post, this “authentication” model — so-called because viewers without Hulu Plus get next-day access to Fox shows by logging in with a Dish or Verizon account number — may soon become more common across the site. The paper reports that Comcast could introduce authentication for its subscribers in the near future. That cable network is reportedly going to require authentication for those who wish to watch Summer 2012 Olympics coverage as well.

Anyone who doesn’t currently pay for cable or satellite TV shouldn’t necessarily worry. READ FULL STORY »

'The West Wing' cast reunites for funny PSA -- VIDEO

The cast of The West Wing is back to walking and talking—at least for two minutes and twenty-two seconds. In the first on-screen cast reunion since the 2006 series finale, some of the former West Wing regulars got together to poke fun at the memorable staple in a new Funny or Die public service announcement. Martin Sheen, Joshua Malina, William Duffy, Dulé Hill, Allison Janney, and Melissa Fitzgerald reprised their roles to promote Every Body Walk, a health campaign about the benefits of walking 30 minutes per day.

'The Good Wife': Who should be cast as Kalinda's husband?

Kalinda_320.jpg

On last night’s season finale of The Good Wife (read our recap), Kalinda’s past came right to her door — but he didn’t make his entrance, yet. Creators Robert and Michelle King have yet to announce which actor will play her husband, so tell us who’s on your wish list. Some intel to help you: In our post-finale chat with the Kings, Robert said they’ve been wanting to dive into Kalinda’s past since season 2, but hadn’t felt they’d found the right actor. They envision it as a long arc in season 4 — Kalinda’s past life colliding with her newly firmed up friendship with Alicia — and one that shows us a new side of Kalinda’s sexuality. “Her with someone where love and fear are kind of combined,” Robert told EW. “That’s something we haven’t seen from Kalinda before, because even with Blake last year, there wasn’t so much fear as the sense of who was gonna be the top dog in that relationship. Here, I think it’ll be a little more lurid…. It’s not exactly Fifty Shades of Grey, but the spirit of sexual dominance mixed with who’s dominating whom. It just sounds like a fascinating way to see Kalinda.”

My dream casting: Idris Elba. READ FULL STORY »

'MythBusters' don 4-inch stilettos to test high-heel driving ability: VIDEO

What do we learn watching the clip below from this Sunday’s MythBusters showing Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman sporting 4-inch stilettos to test the myth that certain types of footwear can inhibit driving to the point where it becomes dangerous? That someone needs to make a gif of Adam doing a Dukes of Hazzard-style hood slide — his balance on the landing is truly impressive. READ FULL STORY »
