Beyonce covers Time's '100 Most Influential People' issue

Time-100.jpg

Bow down.

The cover of Time‘s annual “100 Most Influential People” issue has been revealed — and its star is none other than Beyoncé.

As is tradition, each Most Influential pick is accompanied by a short explanation written by a famous admirer. In this case, Lean In creator Sheryl Sandberg weighs in on what makes Bey worthy of number one: “Beyoncé doesn’t just sit at the table. She builds a better one,” Sandberg explains. “In the past year, Beyoncé has sold out the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour while being a full-time mother. Her secret: hard work, honesty and authenticity. And her answer to the question, ‘What would you do if you weren’t afraid?’ appears to be ‘Watch me. I’m about to do it.’ Then she adds, ‘You can, too.'” READ FULL STORY

College offers Miley Cyrus course (no twerking required)

It’s already been pretty much established that you can take a college course in just about anything. So why not gain school credits studying Miley Cyrus?

A New York college is offering a course called “The Sociology of Miley Cyrus: Race, Class, Gender, and Media.” The summer class delves deep into cultural issues inspired by the tongue-protruding pop princess for 2.5 hours per day, three days a week. The course is offered by Skidmore College, a private liberal arts college in Saratoga Springs, which confirmed the news to EW.

“Miley Cyrus has grown up in the public eye, trying on and discarding very different identities onscreen and off,” reads visiting assistant professor Carolyn Chernoff’s course description. “She provides rich examples for analyzing aspects of intersectional identities and media representation.” READ FULL STORY

Miley Cyrus calls out Katy Perry on Twitter over concert kissing controversy

Let’s play “Guess where that tongue’s been!”

Wait – that’s not an actual game? Well someone should tell Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry, who seem to be getting into a little playful tiff over their recent kiss at Cyrus’ concert last month in Los Angeles. Apparently Perry wasn’t expecting the full deep-dive from Cyrus, though we all know that Katy Perry has kissed many girls and liked it. Cyrus took to her Twitter account to respond. In my opinion, the illustration below screams passion. Or a cry for help.

How do you really feel about those Tinker Bell rumors, Miley Cyrus?

Miley Cyrus really doesn’t want to play Tinker Bell. In fact, her lack of desire for the part is so strong that before sprinkling pixie dust around on a stage, she’d rather choke on her own famous tongue. Dramatic? Just a bit.

A tabloid recently published a blurb saying that the star is “going for her dream role” as “Tinker Bell in a live broadcast of Peter Pan,” NBC’s planned follow-up to 2013’s incredibly successful The Sound of Music Live. A “friend” of Miley elaborated to the magazine, saying, “With her short haircut, she does resemble Tinker Bell! She could nab this role.” Oh, so that’s how casting is decided. By haircuts.

Unfortunately, Cyrus as Tink is about as likely as Justin Bieber playing Captain Hook. First of all, the musical’s version of Tinker Bell is played by a tiny flashing light rather than an actual person. And secondly, the pop star herself has no intention of strapping on fairy wings anytime soon:

Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry share quick kiss -- VIDEO

In the weekend’s least shocking development, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry locked lips. Crazy, right?! (And by crazy, I mean not crazy at all.)

Cyrus was singing the Bangerz ballad “Adore You” at an L.A. concert when she climbed off the stage and summoned Perry, who was in the front row, to come lean in for a quick peck. Cyrus then backed up and squealed like she was surprised by her own mischief, which, okay, was pretty adorable. And the whole thing was caught on video, because of course it was. But really, did everyone forget that Perry’s first hit was called “I Kissed a Girl“?

Miley Cyrus gives advice to Justin Bieber: 'I don't see a Miley mug shot'

Miley Cyrus has some advice for Justin Bieber: Stay home when you want to party!

Cyrus appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night, and Leno asked her about Bieber’s recent legal troubles. Cyrus voiced what many people have thought: Doesn’t he have people he can pay to make sure he stays out of trouble? Barring that, “Party at your house. Buy a house, and add a club to it,” she said to audience cheers.

That must be what Cyrus is doing post-salvia scandal in 2010 (a simpler time!). Noting she’s seen compilations of celebrity mug shots online, she points out that for all the scandalous headlines she generates,  “I don’t see a Miley mug shot yet!”

“I get the most flack of anybody,” she said. “I’m not doing anything illegal. I’m doing a lot of s—, but I’m not doing anything illegal. Everything I do is legal in California.”

Miley Cyrus shreds a mean guitar in her big Grammy night performance -- VIDEO

Wait, what’s that you say? Miley Cyrus didn’t even attend the Grammys, much play a song there?

In this, you are correct; though Cyrus did perform a few tunes at Clive Davis’s annual pre-Grammys party, she opted not to show up for the awards ceremony itself. (Getting totally shut out of the nominations can have that effect; see also Gaga, Lady.) The Bangerz singer did, however, spend the night making music — at least in some capacity:

New Year's Eve preview: Kathy Griffin already making Anderson Cooper giggle, squirm -- VIDEO

Kathy-Griffin-Anderson-Cooper.jpg

For years now, the best part of staying in on New Year’s Eve has been watching the battle of wills between Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper on CNN as he worries that she’ll swear, strip, and/or throw something at the artists performing on ABC’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. And, of course, those are very real concerns because she has done all three (and worse), which we’re reminded of in the video below of the duo, along with Griffin’s beloved box wine-loving mother Maggie, previewing this year’s festivities (Dec. 31, 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. ET). Miley Cyrus says she's playing a character, doesn't understand why flashing is a big deal

If you’re someone still trying to figure out the mind of Miley Cyrus, a new New York Times interview may help. You weren’t supposed to take her VMA performance as a declaration of her lifestyle: “I went from people just thinking I was, like, a baby to people thinking I’m this, like, sex freak that really just pops molly and does lines all day. It’s like, ‘Has anyone ever heard of rock ’n’ roll?’ There’s a sex scene in pretty much every single movie, and they go, ‘Well, that’s a character.’ Well, that’s a character. I don’t really dress as a teddy bear and, like, twerk on Robin Thicke, you know?”

Other revelations: According to Cyrus, it’s not just former Disney stars who are forced to be PG rather than themselves. “I’ll get someone to, like, flash me, and they’ll be, like, ‘You have to delete it!’ I had to do that when I was 14 or 15, but even then I didn’t care. Like, if someone was videoing me ripping a bong, I didn’t care, so it’s just funny to me. I’m like: ‘Dude, you’re 30. Like, why can’t someone see a picture of your [breasts]?'” (Since when is marketability the only reason NOT to want your breasts exposed, Miley?) READ FULL STORY
