Michelle Obama, Reese Witherspoon, and more join #BringBackOurGirls campaign

It’s been nearly a month since hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls were kidnapped by the terrorist group Boko Haram, and now celebrities are using their star power to help raise awareness of these women’s plight — and, hopefully, to help get them back home.

With the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls, notable figures such as Michelle Obama, Reese Witherspoon, and Jessica Biel are using social media to spread the word and offer support for the girls and their families.  READ FULL STORY

Jonah Hill, Adam Levine, Jennifer Lopez, Alicia Keys, and more famous folk may have a bone to pick with their moms.

All of those celebrities’ mothers are featured in a new PSA for Healthcare.Gov. The clip makes the case that young adults need to sign up for health care — because their moms already worry enough. As evidence, the mothers cite examples from their famous kids’ youth. Then First Lady Michelle Obama appears, explaining, “We nag you because we love you.”

Watch below, and ponder if this PSA doubles as a buddy comedy audition for Hill and Levine’s BFF moms: READ FULL STORY

Barack and Michelle Obama's greatest pop culture moments -- VIDEO

On Tuesday, Funny or Die premiered a video of Zach Galifianakis interviewing President Obama in a Between Two Ferns sketch where Obama plugged Healthcare.gov. On Wednesday, traffic to the healthcare site has increased 40 percent.

White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett went on CBS’ This Morning earlier to share the news of the video’s success. “The fact that the website traffic has gone up is really an indication that it’s working.” Look at that, viral videos changing lives!

Obama’s appearance on Galifianakis’ wacky series wasn’t the first time the president — or first lady Michelle — has used comedy as a way to reach Americans. He appeared on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon in 2012 to plug his student loans initiative, and Michelle frequently enlists celebrities to help promote her Let’s Move campaign. We’ve gathered some of their best appearances, including Michelle showing off her mom-moves for the sake of fitness and Barack opening SNL before he was POTUS: READ FULL STORY

Michelle Obama has dance party with Will Ferrell and Jimmy Fallon -- VIDEO

Did teenagers Sasha and Malia Obama give their mom some acting tips?

The First Lady appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night  to discuss the fourth year of Let’s Move! and to encourage young people to sign up for the Affordable Care Act — but the sit-down chat isn’t what has people buzzing. Much like she’s done in past appearances with Fallon, Mrs. Obama also appeared in a viral-ready skit.

In yet another holdover from Late Night, Fallon brought back Ew!, his Saturday Night Live-esque teen girl talk show, where he and another guest (this time, Will Ferrell) pretend to be 13-year-olds and discuss matters of great importance to teens: Harry Styles, kissing posters of Harry Styles, etc.

The First Lady was a great sport in the silly sketch, and managed to give great face to the cameras, plug healthy snacks (Kale chips!), and, of course, even participated in a requisite dance party.

Michelle Obama shoots and scores during Miami Heat interview -- VIDEO

Michelle-Obama-the-Heat.jpg

The Miami Heat  may have to make room for a new player because evidently our very own First Lady has some skills. Michelle Obama had some of the Heat players over to the White House to record a PSA for Let’s Move, her organization that promotes healthy lifestyles for kids. In the video, Dwyane Wade and Ray Allen talk about how they like to hydrate and eat food (great tips, by the way) as Chris Bosh pops up behind them drinking a tall glass of water. But the real excitement comes when Obama makes a slam dunk in a portable hoop held by LeBron James. Check out the clip below: READ FULL STORY

The Kennedy Center Honors aired Sunday night, and while we’re still waiting for someone to put Snoop Dogg’s portion of the tribute to honoree Herbie Hancock on YouTube — he had the black-tie crowd standing and chanting! — some highlights have surfaced. Michelle Obama joins Instagram and the world jumps for joy

Say what you want about her husband’s politics, but it’s nearly impossible to deny the fact that First Lady Michelle Obama is seriously a whole bunch of awesomeness. Besides trying to rid the country of childhood obesity, she is also casual friends with George Clooney, makes us laugh, moves her mother into the White House, wears the classiest clothes (J. Crew thanks you for your service) and rocks haircuts like no other.

And if that wasn’t enough, everyone’s favorite Obama (after Malia and Sasha, of course), has decided to bless us mere plebeians with her very own Instagram. READ FULL STORY

Jackie Robinson biopic '42' gets high praise from Michelle Obama

We’ve all heard friends, film critics, and advertisements in one way or another, tell us, “You need to see this movie!” But how often does that kind of endorsement come from the White House? Well, it did today, when First Lady Michelle Obama talked about the film 42, which follows the story of Jackie Robinson becoming the first African-American to play in Major League Baseballbefore a crowd of 80 students gathered in the State Dining Room at the White House for a film workshop.

President Barack Obama and the First Lady saw the biopic this weekend at a White House screening. Their two daughters were away, but Michelle Obama said that “they are definitely going to watch this movie.” And her children aren’t the only people she recommends the film to: “We think that everybody in this country needs to watch this movie,” she said. “We walked away from that just visibly, physically moved by the experience of the movie, of the story.” READ FULL STORY
