Ah, to be young. Youth is a wonderful and tumultuous time filled with exciting career prospects, rocky romances, and making millions of dollars from touring the world, singing, and wearing zany outfits. Okay, so not so much for most under 30-somethings. (In fact, for most under 30-somethings, take out that last part and just add in “Paying off student loans and sharing an apartment with roughly seven people.”) But, then again, Lady Gaga has never been like most under 30-somethings.

The seemingly unstoppable pop star, who is just 25 years old, tops this year’s Forbes list of the best-paid celebrities that are under the age of 30. Forbes estimates that, over the past year, Lady Gaga has earned upwards of $90 million, thanks largely in part to her massive touring schedule and record sales.

Still, Gaga, who rocketed up from No. 3 spot where she sat last year, isn’t the only one making me grateful Cribs isn’t still around to make me wonder where things all went terribly, terribly wrong for me. READ FULL STORY »

Everyone went gaga for Lady Gaga last night during the Council of Fashion Designers of America awards, where the eccentric singer picked up an honor for being the year’s top style icon.

In the video below, some stylish folk and Kathy Griffin sing the praises of the songstress, who showed up to the ceremony in a predictably unpredictable outfit, complete with mile-high platform shoes, teal hair, and a spiked bust area. READ FULL STORY »

Hey, remember when Johnny Depp surprised a group of kids in London by showing up at their school in character as Captain Jack Sparrow? Well, this story is kind of the opposite of that one. A staff developer who works for Tenafly Elementary Schools in New Jersey is in hot water for promising kids an appearance by Lady Gaga herself — then delivering a Lady Gaga impersonator instead. Bill O'Reilly has officially given Lady Gaga his seal of approval

Breaking: Papa Bear just might be a closet Little Monster. During the “Pinheads and Patriots” segment of last night’s O’Reilly Factor, Bill O’Reilly named Lady Gaga a patriot — apparently, he admired the way the singer chowed down on one of Dave Letterman’s note cards during her bizarre appearance on The Late Show. “I wish I had thought of that when I was on the Letterman program,” O’Reilly declared, looking amused. “I would have done that.” Watch the video below.

Lady Gaga visits 'The View,' talks plans to host 'Saturday Night Live'

Lady Gaga took a little time to enjoy The View today, stopping by to promote Born This Way with a half-hour interview with Barbara Walters and Co. And she pretty much made a headline every minute. Escorted by two men wearing shades, Gaga looked a little wobbly stepping onto The View’s set. Maybe those eight-inch boots had something to do with that. Today she continued her goth-take on I Dream of Jeannie, streaks of Cruella DeVil black in her blonde bob. Yeah, there were the usual platitudes — “I’m so grateful,” “I never dreamed I’d be here,” “the spirit of the audience inspires me” — but she also proved herself to be quick-witted, open-hearted, and endearingly self-deprecating.  She opened up more about the bullying she suffered at New York City’s Convent of the Sacred Heart (those Upper East Side mean girls made fun of her “big nose” and “buck teeth” and even threw her in a trash can, a moment she reinterpreted for her Rolling Stone shoot last June).  “When I was in school I wanted to wear a mask every day, but now I wear my mask, and I wear it proudly,” she said.

For the first time I can think of, Gaga also introduced her mother to the world. READ FULL STORY »

Lady Gaga edges Oprah atop 'Forbes' Celebrity 100 list

It’s official. It’s Lady Gaga’s world, and we’re simply living in it. She’s bigger than Madonna, greater than Angelina. Heck, she’s more powerful than Oprah! [Beware of incoming lightning bolt!] Forbes placed the singer at the top of its Celebrity 100 list, which ranks the most powerful people in the entertainment business.

Let’s not quibble too much with Forbes‘ methodology, which credits celebs with the strongest web presence. In this case, they might be confusing simple popularity and crass self-promotion with real power, but let’s move on. Oprah, who earned $290 million in the last 12 months, ranked second, and Justin Bieber debuted on the list in the third spot. READ FULL STORY »

In honor of Lady Gaga's FarmVille debut, we reimagine 10 classic videogames as if they starred Her Ladyship

Lady Gaga’s plan to release tracks from Born This Way on FarmVille starting today seems like a natural step in her digital evolution. Actually, it’s hard to believe she hasn’t gotten pixelated before now. Gaga and video games would be the perfect marriage of subject and medium. Think about it. In her genre-bending videos she’s like a customizable character — choose her clothes, hair, and makeup! — who always seems to be on some kind of hell-bent vendetta or machine-gun-toting quest. So to honor the launch of GagaVille, we pondered what would have happened if she had starred in ten classic videogames. What if Her Ladyship had played, say, Princess Peach in Super Mario 64? Or brought the Monster Ball to Liberty City? See our picks for games ripe for a Gaga makeover after the break and suggest your own.  READ FULL STORY »

Lady Gaga saves journalism, becomes guest editor-in-chief of Metro for a day

By all accounts, human society is slowly but surely evolving towards the cultural moment when “News Media” will just be the coastal elitist term for the Twitter feed that will stream infinite happenstance straight into your frontal lobe by way of a neural implant installed by our horrible robot overlords. But there are still some crusty old-school journalists who believe in the power of the printed page. And then there is Lady Gaga, who served as guest editor-in-chief at the London office of the free daily Metro for one whole day, despite being neither crusty nor old-school, nor even really a journalist, unless you think that she is a metaphorical journalist embedded in the trench warfare of human emotions (in which case you should seriously consider cutting your hair and getting a job, hippie). Lady Gaga will stream songs from 'Born This Way' on 'FarmVille'

The 46 million people who play FarmVille every month are getting an eccentric new neighbor. This morning, social gaming company Zynga announced a partnership with Lady Gaga, which will allow users to stream songs from Gaga’s forthcoming Born This Way before the album is released on May 23. Players will visit a neighboring farm, “GagaVille,” where they can undertake lightweight tasks to unlock tracks from Born This Way. It’s not the first time that a musician has partnered with a gaming company — Guns n’ Roses released “Shackler’s Revenge” on Rock Band 2, and Zynga worked with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg on partnerships through their popular Mafia Wars game — but given the near-messianic cult of Gaga and the massive FarmVille user population, it’s certainly a noteworthy moment in the evolution of pop music branding. Lady Gaga to mentor 'American Idol' Top 4 contestants. Bring the drama!

Expect a surge in the Top 4′s performance level next week: Fox has confirmed to EW that Lady Gaga is set to appear on American Idol as a mentor for our remaining finalists. And before you scoff at the idea of a 25-year-old handing out career advice, remember that Miley Cyrus served as a mentor on the show last year, at the ripe age of 17 years old. And it’s not like Gaga doesn’t have anything to offer — some of our contestants (ahem, Lauren!) still have plenty to learn when it comes to truly performing to a crowd. Who better to teach them than the dramatic artist herself? (If only Pia were still around to pick up a few pointers… )

But it’s interesting to consider how she might aid the contestants, considering next week’s theme. READ FULL STORY »
