Each week, Survivor host Jeff Probst answers a few questions about the most recent episode of Redemption Island.

So, how many donuts would it take for you to give Phillip a massage?
Start diggin my plot as I will soon be dead from starvation.

Part of what you try to do when you ask players questions is to draw them out in the hope that their comments will create drama with other players, but Rob never, ever takes the bait. Like at Redemption Island, when you asked him about Matt, “Why’d you vote him out, Rob?” When he answers that “It doesn’t take one person to vote someone out, Jeff, you know that,” are you simultaneously impressed by his ability to stay above the fray while frustrated that he won’t bite on the fishing line you’ve just reeled out?
I always tell contestants if you want to keep me off your back just give me an answer to my question.  Any answer.  I don’t care if you tell the truth or lie.  Give me something usable. It’s when they give me answers like “I dunno” that I get frustrated and often that frustration leads me right back to them with an even more pressing question.  Rob has become a master of the “no-answer answer.”  When you’re that good at tribal, it does make my job much harder, but that’s my problem, not theirs. I never get frustrated with good game play. READ FULL STORY »

Each week, Survivor host Jeff Probst answers a few questions about the most recent episode of Redemption Island.

Which did you find more intriguing: Russell breaking down and crying after being eliminated, or the way he then snapped himself out of it and went into full bore defiant Russell mode?

The breakdown caught me by surprise and showed me how invested Russell is in the game of Survivor.  I think that will go down as a very big moment in Survivor history.  But I was so delighted to see Russell go out the same way he came in — swinging for the fence.  He ate Ralph’s lunch and could quite possibly have given Rob’s tribe a huge advantage come merge time. Our pick to replace Regis on 'Live! with Regis and Kelly': Jeff Probst!

probst-regisImage Credit: Monty Brinton/CBS ; ABCJudging by your comments on our news item that Regis plans to depart the eponymous show, you’ve got a lot of ideas about who should replace him. There’s no shortage of candidates, and many of them have appeared on Live in the past few years since Regis has been working a Monday-Thursday schedule. What many of these wannabes have proved is that Regis actually has a pretty challenging gig. In fact, the job description to replace him would read something like this:

National daily talk show looking for spontaneous, quick-witted, and funny man who can banter about everything from baseball to push-up bras. Must have excellent interview skills, but promise not to go all 60 Minutes on a celebrity who is experiencing divorce, drug addiction, or other difficulties. Think more James Lipton than Charlie Rose. The ideal candidate should be handsome, telegenic and genially cranky. (It’s okay to hate the snow or lines at Starbucks, but not Obama or Sarah Palin.) Must be able to spin a prize wheel without stealing any moves from Pat Sajack. Perks include: five-hour work week, some travel, and sitting next to an attractive, vivacious blonde every morning.

Pretty much every name in America except mine has been bandied about for a replacement. And, of them, our vote goes to Jeff Probst.
