You wouldn’t think there’s much overlap between the worlds of iCarly and Breaking Bad. But iCarly star Noah Munck, who plays quirky Gibby Gibson on the Nickelodeon sitcom, is a huge fan of The One Who Knocks, regularly live-tweeting his thoughts on the hit AMC drama to his nearly 400,000 followers.

Tonight, Noah will chat live with you during the new episode of Breaking Bad, titled “Fifty-One,” at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT. He’ll be adding his commentary as Walt celebrates another birthday and an increasingly unhinged Skyler considers her options, plus he’ll be interacting directly with you. So get your questions ready for him! READ FULL STORY »

This adorable working Wall-E replica -- and its creator -- are our new heroes

mike-and-wall-e.jpg

Here’s something you won’t find at your local Buy N Large. Computer programmer Mike Senna recently unveiled a life-sized, working Wall-E replica that can trundle around on its treads, wave both hands, raise its eyebrows, and — of course — warble its own name. Senna has spent a staggering two and a half years on this project, toiling for about 25 hours each week while holding down a full-time job at a biometrics company in Orange County. Though Senna has some experience bringing beloved pop culture bots to life — he completed a similar R2D2 replica in ’03 — Wall-E presented a unique set of challenges.

For starters: The robot “changes size during the film,” Senna tells EW, which made its dimensions difficult to determine. Without real-life schematics or prototypes, Senna had nothing but screen shots from Pixar’s movie to guide him. Senna also had to custom create nearly every one of Wall-E’s parts, although he did luck out by finding a perfect pair of eyes at Home Depot. The builder wanted his creation to be able to convey emotions — just like the “real” Wall-E — so he spent the lion’s share of his time building its head.

All that effort paid off: The larger-than-life Wall-E that roams around Disneyland has immobile eyes, but Senna’s 3.4-foot-replica features peepers that can move. READ FULL STORY »

It's Harry Potter's Birthday. Celebrate by buying a just-announced $500 complete set

Today is kind of a big day in Harry Potter world.

It’s the Boy Who Lived’s birthday (not to mention J.K. Rowling’s!) and, as even Muggles know, July 31 was also the day Hagrid broke down a door and was all, “You’re a wizard, Harry,” kicking off the whole saga.

July 31 will now also be known as the day Potter fans are faced with a choice more daunting than whether or not to trust Snape: whether or not to shell out a ridiculous amount of money for a very special collection set. Warner Bros. announced today that on September 7, they will release a brand-new 31-Disc Collection.

This Week's Cover: Inside the Cult of 'Doctor Who' -- plus the 25 greatest cult TV shows from the past 25 years

1218-DRWHO-EWCOVER.jpg

How do you know when a TV show has become a cult phenomenon? When its (often comparatively small) ratings are eclipsed by the wild ardor of its fans. Take the case of the British science fiction show Doctor Who, whose current lead, Matt Smith, is this week’s cover star. The now 49-year-old Who is hugely popular in its homeland but has always enjoyed a more select appeal here — not that you know that from the devotion of U.S.-based “Whovians.” In 1983, 7,000 people attended a Doctor Who convention in Chicago and over the past couple of years the time-traveling “Doctor” has received a bordering-on-the-absurd number of onscreen shout-outs from Community, Criminal Minds, Craig Ferguson’s The Late Late Show, Supernatural, and Grey’s Anatomy, whose creator, Shonda Rhimes, describes herself as a “psychotic” follower of Matt Smith’s time travel adventures in this week’s cover story. “It’s not an obscure show anymore,” says executive producer Steven Moffat. “It’s not even a ‘British import.’ It’s just Doctor Who.”

Has the time finally come for the so-called “Time Lord” to break big in America? Could be. The Doctor Who team has assiduously courted fans here with a succession of publicity appearances, including a panel at this year’s Comic-Con where Whovians paid homage to Smith’s red-haired costar Karen Gillan by donning ginger wigs. (No. 2 way you know  a TV show has become a cult favorite? When fans start dressing as characters.) In June 2011, the show’s U.S. broadcaster BBC America enjoyed its best ever ratings with the premiere episode of the sixth season since Doctor Who was revived in 2005, following a 16 year hiatus. The new season, which debuts later this summer, may well be the most eagerly anticipated ever as the Doctor prepares to say goodbye to his two trusty and beloved-by-fans “companions,” Gillan’s Amy Pond and Arthur Darvill’s Rory Williams. In the cover story we track the ups and downs of the show’s remarkable half-century history and preview the new episodes with help from Smith, Gillan, Darvill, and  exec producer, Steven Moffat.

Want more awesome small screen weirdness? Then check out our list of the 25 Best Cult TV Shows From the Past 25 years, in which we explain the devotion shown to such culty whippersnappers (at least by Who standards) as Fringe, Twin Peaks, The Comeback, Archer, Community, Firefly, Arrested Development, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. HULK VS. THE COMIC-CON FLOOR!

Film-Crit-Hulk.jpg

AS HULK JOURNEYS TOWARD THE CONVENTION CENTER ITSELF, HULK LOOKS UP AT THE MARRIOT WHICH HAS TWO GIGANTIC SCREEN ADVERTISEMENTS OVER THE SIDE OF THE TOWERS. LOOKING AROUND THE CITY, THESE KINDS OF ADS ARE EVERYWHERE, TAKING UP THE ENTIRE SIDES OF SKYSCRAPERS… IT’S LIKE THE CITY ITSELF IS COSPLAYING.

HULK ARRIVES TO THE BACK OF THE LINE IN THE MIDST OF CHAOS AND ONE OF THE BIGGEST SURPRISES IS THAT LINE SYSTEM WORKS PRETTY DAMN WELL. THE VOLUNTEERS AND SECURITY ARE ON THEIR GAME. THEY DIRECT PEOPLE WITH CARE AND KNOW-HOW. AND THERE IS NO DOUBTING THAT THE SECURITY ALONG THE STREET IS RAMPED UP AFTER A TRAGIC ACCIDENT A FEW DAYS PRIOR IN WHICH A WOMAN RAN ACROSS THE STREET NOT TO LOSE HER PLACE IN THE TWILIGHT LINE AND WAS STRUCK BY A CAR AND KILLED. THESE ARE THE KINDS OF THINGS A CONVENTION TAKES WITH THE APPROPRIATE AMOUNT OF SERIOUSNESS, AND EVERYONE SEEMS IN CONTROL AS A RESULT. READ FULL STORY »

Watch new trailer for Jerry Seinfeld's web series 'Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee'

Jerry Seinfeld’s new web series, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, delves into familiar territory for the comedian: Shows about nothing.

The actor’s new project features Alec Baldwin, Larry David, Ricky Gervais, Michael Richards and other comedians chilling with Seinfeld, and, well, drinking coffee. Details are scarce about the show, which will premiere on Crackle and ComediansInCarsGettingCoffee.com on July 19. If, as it appears, it’s just a cast of funny people shooting the breeze while drinking a beverage, I could definitely get into that.

For now, check out the full-length trailer below, and see David give Seinfeld his kudos: “You have finally done the show about nothing.” READ FULL STORY »

Jeremiah McDonald Q&A: Viral video star on interviewing his future self

Before Thursday, if you mentioned a guy interviewing himself from the past, people would have thought you were either nuts or a huge sci-fi fan. Possibly both. Now they might just think you’re Jeremiah McDonald, star of the viral (five million views and counting!) video that showcases taped bits of twelve-year-old McDonald posing questions to his future self, and current McDonald answering them. The whole thing is a bit of trip. EW got on the phone with McDonald yesterday to ask him about the idea, the instant reaction, and Doctor Who approval.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What’s the backstory to how this came together?
Jeremiah McDonald:
Well, I’ve been sitting on it for a long time. When I was a kid, I was just playing. I don’t know how far in advance I was thinking, and of course, I didn’t think anyone would see it anyway. It was purely for my own enjoyment. I think maybe by the time I was 20 years old, I said, ‘This is something really cool.’ Even then, I didn’t know how I was going to use it because, certainly, there was no YouTube at the time. When YouTube started, I knew that this would be something that was perfect for that. I did an early version. I consider YouTube as a playground, it’s a place to experiment. So I did do an early version of the same video, and I learned some things from that first attempt. When people would watch it, they’d say, ‘Oh, who’s that kid playing you?’ I would say, ‘Well, that’s me.’ They’d be confused. Looking at the video on its own merits, it just wasn’t that good. 'Walking Dead' zombie-fighting car is street ready -- VIDEO

When it comes to supernatural invasions, you can’t be too careful.

That seems to be Hyundai’s idea with its new one-of-a-kind zombie-fighting car, based on drawings by Walking Dead creator and writer Robert Kirkman.

This battle wagon has metal bars covering the windows, spikes on the wheels that can plow right through a zombie, a hatch, and, of course, a zombie disc cutter (because why not?).

The video below takes you through the building process: READ FULL STORY »
