The fate of The Vampire Diaries and where the series goes from Thursday’s finale may be in the hands of executive producers Julie Plec and Caroline Dries, but that doesn’t mean the stars of CW’s steamy vampire drama don’t have their own ideas about what they’d love to see for their characters. We caught up with TVD stars Nina Dobrev (Elena), Paul Wesley (Stefan), and Ian Somerhalder (Damon) to discuss their character wish lists for season 6. Check out what they had to say below: READ FULL STORY

It’s been nearly a month since hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls were kidnapped by the terrorist group Boko Haram, and now celebrities are using their star power to help raise awareness of these women’s plight — and, hopefully, to help get them back home.
With the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls, notable figures such as Michelle Obama, Reese Witherspoon, and Jessica Biel are using social media to spread the word and offer support for the girls and their families. READ FULL STORY
New Orleans might be the setting for Vampire Diaries spin-off The Originals, but it’s also the real-life hometown of Ian Somerhalder. And this year, it seems the vamp-by-day and activist-by-night is heading home to do a little celebrating.
Somerhalder will serve as co-grand marshal (along with The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus) during Mardi Gras’ main event, the Krewe of Endymion Parade & Extravaganza. On Saturday, March 1, Somerhalder will hit the streets of New Orleans, and we’ve got an exclusive look at the custom Vampire Diaries beads he will hand out to spectators.
“I am so excited to be coming back to my hometown to ride with Endymion,” Somerhalder told EW exclusively. “I am so grateful. It’s truly an honor.”
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m booking a flight to New Orleans. After all, Somerhalder does have a history of confessing his love when handing over necklaces. Necklaces, beads — what’s the difference?
Four years ago today, something supernatural happened: The Vampire Diaries premiered on The CW. And just like that, we fell into the world of Mystic Falls, Va., where the hot new guy in town had a sexy (albeit dangerous) secret, Bonnie was “psychic,” Jeremy was in his drug phase, Elena was sick of faking a smile, and no one knew what a “moonstone” was.
That, of course, would all change, just as we, the viewers, would change right along with it as TVD exposed us to countless wonderful things. Here’s our list of the 20 things we want to thank The Vampire Diaries for giving us:

'Fifty Shades of Grey': Bret Easton Ellis tweets that Robert Pattinson was E. L. James' first choice for Christian
After countless rumors, fake magazine covers, secret conversations, and fan-made movie trailers, Charlie Hunnam has officially been cast as rich-playboy-with-a-secret Christian Grey in the big-screen adaptation of E. L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey. But that doesn’t mean he was the author’s first choice.
According to Bret Easton Ellis, who had once expressed interest in writing the screenplay, James pictured Robert Pattinson in the role of Christian, who’s described in the books as having dark copper-colored hair and, of course, those unforgettable gray eyes.
Ellis tweeted that not only was Pattinson James’ first choice, but that fan favorites Matt Bomer and Ian Somerhalder were “never in the running.” Check out Ellis’ tweets below: READ FULL STORY
The official Teen Choice surfboards have all been handed out, but after absorbing Sunday’s two-hour awards ceremony on Fox, I felt there were simply not enough awards! This year’s bonus prizes are…
A wetsuited Rebel Wilson thought it was funny there’s a group called One Direction, because “That’s also the name I gave to my asshole.” Lovely!

In honor of March Madness, EW is launching a tournament to determine the Greatest TV Couple of All Time. But before we can finalize the brackets, we are turning to you, our hopeless TV romantic readers, to decide which five couples — all part of a love triangle on their respective shows — make it out of a qualifying round to fill the final slots. Today, we’re debating Stefan & Elena versus Damon & Elena on The Vampire Diaries.
It’s the age-old tale of two brothers, one girl, a whole lot of lust. Blood lust actually. In the Vampire Diaries world, the only thing that can come between Salvatore brothers Stefan and Damon is Mystic Falls’ very own doppelgänger, Miss Elena Gilbert. And it just so happens that between the brothers is where Elena tends to stay (and we can’t blame her). Elena has perfected the art of choosing one Salvatore, only to change her mind episodes later. To be fair, she doesn’t have an easy decision. I mean, have you seen those two?
If you have, then you should understand why we can’t choose between them. We love Damon’s blue eyes and snarky comments just as much as we love Stefan’s green eyes and brooding ways. But in order to determine the Greatest TV Couple of All Time, a choice has to be made. Put yourself in Elena’s shoes: Stelena or Delena. READ FULL STORY
It’s time for Mystery Date: Supernatural Edition! While the whole vampire craze may be drawing to a close (Twilight: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 comes out on DVD March 2) 2013 is still on track to be a huge year for those that love the supernatural. Apologies to viewers who enjoy their zombies more in the style of Walking Dead, but it’s looking like the biggest trend is more romance, less death and destruction. Warm Bodies, in theaters today, centers around a love story between zombie R. and a human, Julie. It’s a great read – and surprisingly, in between the killing and the brain eating, a wonderfully original and charming boy-ish meets girl tale.
Which got us thinking: Readers probably have their personal favorites when it comes to the guys that portray these vampires, zombies, and werewolves (Ian Somerhalder, Robert Pattinson, Alexander Skarsgard, etc.) But what if we took the actors out of it? Based solely on the plotlines in the current books/movies/television shows, which supernatural should you, a “normal” human with a slight love on danger, attempt to begin a relationship with? The answer may surprise you – or help you justify a couple all-too-real conversations about an alleged hypothetical situation (ahem).
