'The Daily Show': Bearded Jon Stewart Skypes in

jon stewart skype daily show

Jon Stewart, who sort of looks like The Santa Clause now, beamed in to The Daily Show via Skype Thursday “from somewhere far, far away” to let John Oliver know he’s doing a phenomenal job as temporary host while Stewart directs a movie, the geopolitical thriller Rosewater. Check out that beard! “When you get off the plane in the plane in the Middle East, they give it to you, like Hawaiians give you a lei,” Stewart joked.

Stewart claimed he hasn’t been able to keep up with The Daily Show, mostly because it’s too weird — “It’s like watching someone have sex with your wife’s desk,” he confided in Oliver. Stewart assures his team he misses them “like crazy cakes” and can’t wait to return after Labor Day.

“This has been exciting and invigorating, but weird as hell,” said Stewart.

Is there beauty in Adam Levine's neck beard?

Screen Shot 2013-06-17 at 9.35.17 PM

I CAN’T TELL. Just pressed play on The Voice and I’m trying so hard to give him the benefit of the doubt, as I truly do love both rugged facial hair and mysteries. But this is just confounding. Is it a goatee or a beard? Does the goatee overpower the beard (rock beats scissors) or is it the other way around, with the beard bubbling up from the surface to eventually consume the goatee (paper covers rock)?

Hey, here’s our full recap of tonight’s season 4 performance finale of The Voice. It’s way better.

Update: This mess looked better out of the spotlight. Less “layers” involved.

I mean, I should definitely just delete all of this. Tell me whyyyyyyyyy.

Watch Henry Cavill train (shirtless) for 'Man of Steel' -- VIDEO

Henry-Cavill.jpg

Whether or not Henry Cavill’s physique as Man of Steel‘s Superman will inspire you to push your own physical limits in the name of self-discovery, which is the real message behind the National Guard’s SoldierofSteel.com video of him working out shirtless below, you’re going to want to watch it. 'Man of Steel': Day 3 of inappropriate tweets about Henry Cavill -- with polls!

Having already established the level of inappropriate appreciation being expressed for the handsomeness of Man of Steel‘s Superman Henry Cavill on Twitter (read Day 1 and Day 2‘s samplings), Day 3′s tweets have inspired three polls. READ FULL STORY

Today in (even more) inappropriate 'Henry Cavill is Hot' tweets...

It’s Day 2 of our Henry Cavill Twitter Watch, and the tweets about his handsomeness have definitely gotten racier. Credit goes to more people having actually now seen him on the big screen as Man of Steel‘s Superman, but also to the airing of a Graham Norton Show interview in Britain, which produced so many tweets right as we began our search for inappropriate expressions of affection that we only had the stamina to look through two hours’ worth. Watch a fun Graham Norton clip below in which costar Amy Adams explains how creepy one feels talking about Henry’s beauty in front of him. (Ah, the anonymity of the Internet.) And below, the inappropriate — but still printable — tweet sampling: READ FULL STORY

Taylor Kitsch sighting! -- PHOTO

What is the news here my editor you might ask? For those of us still invested in his career (and the length of his hair, it’s longer!), it’s that we haven’t seen many photos of Friday Night Lights‘ Taylor Kitsch since he was promoting Savages in June 2012. Last night, the former Canadian Junior Hockey League player was snapped enjoying the Ducks-Kings game in L.A. with a small beer, a big grin, and a Riggins-esque wardrobe. In short, we’re as happy as he looks in this pic. READ FULL STORY

'Gallery Girls' vs. Ukraine's real-life 'Sleeping Beauty' art installation: Which is worse?

Where’s the art? I’m stumped.

I’ve been thinking a lot about this “living fairy tale” exhibit (see video below) at the National Art Museum of Ukraine, at which any male suitor above the age of 18 may kiss a young painted lady who’s pretending to be asleep. If she opens her eyes, they must get married. This is real! Look at her ear doilies! It’s all so bizarre and disease-y — but after settling in for some Monday night cable, I had to ask: Is it worse than Gallery Girls on Bravo?  READ FULL STORY

Olympics recap, Day 12: Misty sandy-colored memories of the way we won

That sand looks super spongey, right? Like long jump gold medalist Brittney Reese is landing in a big cake? It’s tea time, fellow armchair Olympians. Let’s dig deep and dive right in.

Day 12 brought a gold-medal U.S. vs. U.S. beach volleyball match, a charmed third time for sprinter Allyson Felix, and my sneaking suspicion that I would willingly watch random track and field events in prime time any night. These athletes, man. They’re getting to me. I don’t know if I can go back to regular old humans again. Couldn’t NBC just keep showing more Olympics instead of America’s Got Talent? They could still call it that! READ FULL STORY

What is your damage, London Olympics? (Vol. 3)

Welcome to ‘What Is Your Damage,’ Annie Barrett’s summer shop of all the melodrama and self-absorption she misses from springtime reality TV. Every Tuesday and Friday, she’ll rant about a current offense to her humanity, then assess readers’ damages via video replies. Don’t be shy about admitting what annoys or intrigues you. We’re all in this pop cult together!

What’s your damage, Olympics? Last Tuesday, I railed against poolside interviewer Andrea Kremer among other Olympics offenders like Ryan Seacrest. Friday’s Volume 2 brought spitting in the pool, a lucky towel, and a very special wedgie. But most damaging right now? NBC interrupting — and cutting a significant chunk from! — a primetime SPORTING event in order to air another “What is….London?” Mary Carillo segment. Brutal! READ FULL STORY
