The countdown to the royal wedding is on, Gossipers! And, let’s be clear, no one really wants this to happen, right? Let’s take a survey: If you like Louis, please stand up. Well, since this is the Interwebs — the land of convenient thoughts — I’m going to assume you’re sitting. Great.

Now, since we’ve gotten that straight, I think the big question here is how this wedding between Blair and Prince Louis will not happen. Not IF it won’t happen. HOW. Call it a sixth sense — but I’d really prefer if you call it common sense. After all, the pieces to an impending wedding disaster are all there. READ FULL STORY »

Oh, there are so many ways to fill in the blank in the headline above because there were so many cliff-hangers on last night’s winter finale of Gossip Girl. From lives to loves, so much remains in the balance — and not just for dear old Chuck Bass (but let’s be clear, his situation is certainly most dire at this point and time). Let me elaborate: [Spoilers ahead, friends!] READ FULL STORY »

EW’s Bite of the Night for Monday, Nov. 21, 2011

We at EW scoured the TV line-up last night to find the best one-liners from your favorite shows. Even though Blair Waldorf’s bridal shower was in the works on Gossip Girl, life on the Upper East Side was certainly not a party. Somewhere between a society-crashing leak and Blair’s potentially revived feelings for Chuck Bass, the headbandit managed to get in a cheeky movie reference. Which 2012 Oscar hopeful merited a Queen B shout-out? Read on…

EW's Bite of the Night for Monday, Nov. 7, 2011

We at EW scoured the TV line-up last night to find the best one-liners from your favorite shows. What better way to start the week than with a cocktail of cutthroat competition, mean-girling, and survival of the fittest? And we’re not talking Dancing With the Stars, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, or Terra Nova. Last night’s winner came straight from Gossip Girl‘s Upper East Side. See which socialite soundbite we picked below…

'Gossip Girl': Did last night's final Chuck scene bring you to tears?

gossip-girl

The Gossip Girl writers knew exactly what they were doing last night when they closed their episode with a scene in which a heartbroken Chuck Bass cried with an adorable dog next to him. They wanted us to feel bad for him — and possibly cry along with him. Well, mission accomplished.

Admittedly, I had mixed feelings about Chuck at the end of last season. He was spinning out of control and was rapidly losing every ounce of charm he once had. But in last night’s episode, Dan’s Operation Make Chuck Feel was kicked into high-gear with the introduction of Monkey, a straggly old dog who makes up for what he lacks in reproductive organs with puppy love. Precious. And despite Chuck’s original reaction to the pooch (disgust!) it’s clear Monkey has grown on him. Dan Humphrey, you’re a secret genius. READ FULL STORY »

PopWatch Confessional: What combination of TV and movie characters best represents you?

character_math

Even though I don’t use my Facebook much anymore, I do have one. Thus, it’s no secret that I spend a fair amount of time thinking about how others perceive me. (I’m not ashamed.) But this weekend, while reading the latest EW Summer Movie Math post, I starting thinking about how I perceive myself – in movie math terms.

We all relate to different aspects of our favorite characters on TV and in movies, but it’s a whole other (very time-consuming) game when you try to calculate your personal movie math — which, for these purposes, we’ll call Character Math. It took me two days of sporadic thought to come up with something satisfactory. Here’s what I concluded (share yours, too, so I’m not the only painfully self-absorbed person here!):  READ FULL STORY »

'Gossip Girl' poll: Which man is Blair's best match?

I’ve always wanted to have Blair Waldorf’s problems. (Which fabulous dress should I wear today? Which of my fabulous futures should I pursue? There are too many macaroons!) But this has never been more true than right now. Presently, Queen B finds her heart torn into three pieces: One belongs to a Bass-hat, another to a prince, and another to Dan Hump-free.

Now, this has been a position of great debate in the Gossip world, so I figured it’s best if we put this to a vote. Let’s break down her choices:

This week's cover: How 'Glee' is leading TV's gay-teen revolution

ew-cover-1139Gay teens are suddenly popping up in major roles all over television, with Glee’s popular pairing of Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Blaine (Darren Criss) leading the way. How did gay teens go from marginalized outcasts and goofy sidekicks to some of the highest profile — and most beloved — characters on the likes of 90210, Pretty Little Liars, and Skins? And more importantly, how is this affecting real-life teens still facing the daily high-school realities of bullying, discrimination, and ignorance? The new issue of Entertainment Weekly investigates the history of gay teens on TV — from the angsty Rickie on My So-Called Life to sensitive-soul Jack on Dawson’s Creek to the slew of groundbreaking characters on Degrassi. We talk to the producers who fought for such progress, the actors who held the career-defining roles, and the activists who cheer recent advances — but are still pushing for more. Among them: READ FULL STORY »
