Comic-Con giveaway alert! Win VIP passes to 'Spider-Man' Tumblr meetup

TUMBLR-EW-MEETUP.jpg

Attention, Spidey fans: EW has teamed up with Tumblr and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to host a meetup this Friday at San Diego Comic-Con. You can find tickets here — or enter our giveaway to win one of five V.I.P. passes, each of which includes a plus-one.

To enter the contest, come up with your best caption for the exclusive Amazing Spider-Man 2 photo below. It can be a snippet of dialogue between Spidey and Max Dillon (a.k.a. Electro), a goofy guess at what they’re arguing about, a haiku, whatever — so long as it’s about the picture and it’s funny, you’ve got a shot at winning.

Submit your caption through our Tumblr Ask box, along with a valid email address (formatted as “username AT website DOT com,” so that Tumblr doesn’t think it’s spam). We’ll accept entries until 9:30 a.m. ET Thursday, July 18. Winners will be announced later that day.

And please, don’t enter the contest unless you’re already going to be at Comic-Con — even if you’ve got a great idea for a caption.

Ready? …GO!

Enter EW's Pop Culture Pumpkin Contest!

the-office-pumpkins

For a few years now, my friend Jen and I have taken great pride in pumpkin creativity. It started years ago when we found ourselves hanging out at a local church pumpkin patch after a particularly crap-tastic day of high school. (Give me a break, this was Texas and, for your information, there’s no better way to make yourself feel good than going somewhere as joy-filled as a pumpkin patch.) In our frustration, we decided to buy some pumpkins to paint — for art therapy — when we spotted a sign about a contest. Not only was there a cast prize (maybe $25?), but we figured we’d be up against mostly children, so WE HAD TO WIN! Yes, this was pathetic, but hey, we’d had a bad day! READ FULL STORY

'Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!' Season Cinco DVD giveaway

tim_eric_box_art

Why is this recently-released collection of episodes from Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim’s surreal Adult Swim sketch series called “Season Cinco” rather than “Season 5″? We have no idea. But we do know that the DVD set is chock full of special features like blooper reels, deleted scenes, and even karaoke — as well as shows that feature guest appearances from funny dudes like Rainn Wilson and Zach Galifianakis.

If all that sounds like damn fine viewing to you, you’re in luck — EW is giving away 10 copies of Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job: Season Cinco on DVD. The discs are courtesy of Warner Home Video and Adult Swim, and they’re available while supplies last. Here’s how to enter the giveaway: READ FULL STORY

'Scream' trilogy Blu-ray giveaway

What’s your favorite scary movie? Well, if you like your scares with a side of snark, then you’re probably a Scream fan. Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven’s slasher flick was both an homage to classic slice-and-dice fare like Halloween and Friday the 13th and a terrifying thriller in its own right. The continuations that came after, Scream 2 and Scream 3, followed in the original’s footsteps — they included plenty of wry commentary about horror movie sequels even as they contributed to the franchise’s own bloody mythology. Plenty of self-aware scary movies — and Scary Movies — cropped up in the post-Scream years, but none were as fresh or as innovative as Williamson and Craven’s magnum opus.

Now the saga continues as Scream 4 enters theaters. But if you’re nostalgic for Ghostface killers past, the original trilogy is now out on Blu-ray — and EW has ten copies of the set to give away to lucky readers. The discs are courtesy of Lionsgate Home Entertainment and will be available while supplies last.

'Life Unexpected' DVD Giveaway

This past January, fans of WB-style soaps had to say goodbye to one of their favorite shows: Life Unexpected. The series followed a girl named Lux (Britt Robertson) as she got to know the biological parents who gave her up for adoption: brainy morning show DJ Cate (Shiri Appleby) and charming slacker Baze (Kristoffer Polaha). As time wore on, the show got more melodramatic — dark secrets! revelations of sexual abuse! affairs with teachers! — but it never lost the heart that won a small, dedicated number of viewers over in the first place.

Now every episode of Life Unexpected is available on one DVD set, which is curiously called “Life Unexpected: The Complete First & Second Seasons” rather than “The Complete Series.” While this alone doesn’t mean the show might be coming back from the dead, it’s enough to get us thinking about what might have been. And, as a bonus, if you think about it too, then tell EW what you would have liked to see in a potential third season of LUX, you could win one of 10 copies of the series on DVD.

'Little Fockers' DVD Giveaway

Notable film franchises often come in threes: the original Star Wars movies, The Lord of the Rings, Back to the Future. Now there’s one more hat trick to add to the list — the Fockers trilogy.

Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro first butted heads over a toilet-flushing cat and a surprise lie detector test in 2000’s Meet the Parents, then came back for Round 2 in 2004’s Meet the Fockers. Finally, the story of Greg (née Gaylord) Focker and his disapproving, former CIA interrogator father-in-law came to a close last winter with Little Fockers. In this last movie, Greg must prove to Jack that he’s ready to take over as patriarch of the Byrnes-Focker clan — the “Godfocker,” if you will. But in a shocking turn of events, things don’t go exactly according to plan.

If you can’t get enough of those wacky Fockers, you’re in luck: We’re giving away 20 copies of the movie on DVD. Here’s how to enter the giveaway: READ FULL STORY

'Mad Men: Season 4' DVD Giveaway

When we heard that Season 5 of Mad Men won’t be premiering until early 2012, we were thrust into a deep despair. What are we supposed to do this summer if we can’t follow the ups and downs of Don, Peggy, Joan, Roger, and the rest of the SCDP gang — watch Wipeout? Go outside, for Pete’s sake? (Oh, Pete, we may miss you most of all!) Ugh. Who else needs a drink?

Thankfully, the horizon isn’t totally bleak. Mad Men‘s explosive fourth season was released on DVD and Blu-ray today, and it’s packed with extras — a three-part documentary called “Divorce: Circa 1960s,” a featurette detailing “How to Succeed in Business Draper Style,” and, of course, commentaries for all 13 episodes that feature series creator Matthew Weiner, along with his cast and crew. Maybe, just maybe, watching every second of footage on each of these four discs will make the long wait ahead just a bit more bearable.

Lucky for you, EW is giving away 10 sets of Mad Men Season 4 on DVD. They’re courtesy of Lionsgate, and available while supplies last. Can’t wait to get your grubby little paws on one of these fabulous prizes? Then look below for instructions on how to enter our contest. READ FULL STORY

'The Last Unicorn' DVD/Blu-ray Giveaway -- plus, two clips from the movie

Schmendrick. Lady Amalthea. Molly Grue. The Red Bull. (No, not that Red Bull.) If these names mean anything to you, then chances are that once upon a time, you fell in love with The Last Unicorn, a gentle, Rankin/Bass-produced animated movie from the early ’80s that features the voices of Mia Farrow, Alan Arkin, Angela Lansbury, and Jeff Bridges.

As Ke$ha’s new video proved today, the world is no longer safe for unicorns. (Why can’t Ke$ha be more like that nice Mariah?) But at least The Last Unicorn has just been released in a DVD/Blu-ray combo pack. And, oh yeah, we’ve got 10 of them to give away to lucky EW.com readers. They’re courtesy of Lionsgate and available while supplies last. To whet your appetite and refresh your memory, here are two clips from the film: READ FULL STORY
