The Rock in 'Hercules' or Ben Stiller in 'Tropic Thunder': Who wears an animal head best? -- GIF

Hercules-Tropic-Thunder.gif

When the latest Hercules trailer hit the Web on Tuesday, there was something very familiar about The Rock going head-to-head with a lion and then donning his conquest’s furry head atop his own. It took us right back to one of the best moments of the action comedy Tropic Thunder, when a manic Ben Stiller murders a wild beast in the dark jungle only to discover in the light of day that his furious foe was a sweet, cuddly panda bear. The actor-turned-survivalist then wears the panda’s head like some kind of ursine ushanka.

The Rock’s divine Greek hero is a little more intimidating than Ben Stiller’s Tugg Speedman, but there’s no doubt they can both rock a furry hat. In the spirit of a celebrity gossip mag, however, we have to ask: READ FULL STORY

Sorry, Internet: 'Jeopardy!' confirms that 'gif' has a soft 'g' -- VIDEO

I know it. You know it. The American people know it. And now it’s been corroborated by the ultimate smartypants authority: Jepoardy, and more specifically, Alex Trebek.

Yes, Steve Wilhite — inventor of the looping mobile image format that conquered the Internet long ago — has always insisted that his creation should be pronounced with a soft “g;” you’re supposed to say it like the peanut butter, not “gift” without the “t.” And yet plenty of us continue to ignore his wishes, including the Oxford English Dictionary — which allows for both pronunciations.

Not America’s favorite quiz show, though. Tuesday’s Final Jeopardy established that as far as Trebek is concerned, the soft “g” rules. Could this finally be the video that convinces everyone to let go of gif? Only time will tell; for now, though, watch it and weep.

Catfish: The TV Show react in GIF form -- Michael & Caroline, plus 'The Reunion Show'

This season’s Catfish: The TV Show, which premiered Tuesday, June 25 at 10 p.m. on MTV, features so many OMG moments that it is best to analyze each episode with equally expressive reactions. And not just text-based or still image reactions — GIF reactions.

First and foremost, I send my condolences to the family and friends of Mike Fortunato, who died on Saturday. As a fan and viewer, I appreciate that Nev and Max acknowledged his passing prior to the airing of The Reunion Show. You will be missed, Mike.

'Catfish: The TV Show' react in GIF form -- Keyonnah and Bow Wow

This season’s Catfish: The TV Show, which premiered Tuesday, June 25 at 10 p.m. on MTV, features so many OMG moments that it is best to analyze each episode with equally expressive reactions. And not just text-based or still image reactions — GIF reactions.

There is no denying Catfish doesn’t understand its target audience. Case in point, the episode starts off with Nev, unable to control his desire to touch Max’s hair (that barber shop really did wonders for their relationship), fondles his friend’s silvery follicles, telling him to get some “flame.” There’s more than one thing flaming about this moment, or maybe I’m being too fan fiction-y.

'Catfish: The TV Show' react in GIF form -- Derek and Kristen

This season’s Catfish: The TV Show, which premiered Tuesday, June 25 at 10 p.m. on MTV, features so many OMG moments that it is best to analyze each episode with equally expressive reactions. And not just text-based or still image reactions — GIF reactions.

After weeks and weeks of Nev wearing a boot for his injured foot, Max calls him out on wearing it while doing decidedly un-injured activities. (Do you think he saw Nev play American football or international football a.k.a. soccer? I wouldn’t put it past Max for being the type of American guy who calls soccer, football.) Nev dodges the question to avoid an angry phone call from an MTV producer paranoid over health insurance coverage for the Catfish star, joking, “I can’t get it off.” It’s a cute quip almost ruined by Max’s overextended fake laughter. Nev can be funny, Max, but he isn’t that funny.

Schmidt shakes his groove thang in weekend-starting 'New Girl' Gifgasm -- EXCLUSIVE

Putting the “GIF” in TGIF, Fox just launched a “Gettin’ Schmidty Wit It” microsite dedicated to television’s reigning endearing d-bag. You’ll want to check out this gloriously silly tribute to Schmidt (Max Greenfield), who shakes what his mama gave him to a kicky tune that’s guaranteed to be “Shakalak”-ing through your head ’til at least Tuesday at 9 p.m., when New Girl‘s third episode of the season airs.

As you can see from the image above, Schmidt’s having the time of his chut-i-ney-loving life. But he doesn’t have to do it alone, does he? Come on! How can you possibly resist such unbounded exuberance? You can’t, right?

So click here to get your weekend started right!*

And don’t forget to keep clicking, Newbies! This is the kind of time-suck for which the phrase “the gif that keeps on giving” was created. If only there were about 100 more gifs ready to go. Note to Fox: MORE MORE MORE! (Please.)

*Just a warning for iPhone/iPad watchers: The sound will only auto-play on a desktop.

Welcome back, Catfish fans! I missed Nevax on the off-week, and I’m glad we’re back. This week marks a new chapter for the series  — Masterpiece Classic presents Catfish: The TV Show. Nev attempts to class up his nondescript hotel joint,  opening the show as if he’s a real news anchor or host. Silly Nev, this isn’t real hard-hitting news, it’s Catfish! Max stops Nev’s flirtations with sophistication short, so that we can continue the show in the flashy MTV style we’ve come to know and love.

(That being said, now I’m waiting for the Downton Abbey-Catfish crossover. Has someone written that AU fanfic yet? Get on it, Internet.) READ FULL STORY
