TV Leaderboard: 'New Girl' gobble gobbles its way into EW.com reader's hearts

It may have started as one of the fall seasons most divisive new shows, but New Girl firmly grabbed the hearts of EW.com readers this week with its Thanksgiving episode, in which Jess invited prospective mate Paul Gunslinger (Justin Long) over for a turkey dinner partially cooked in a clothing dryer. Elsewhere, How I Met Your Mother‘s ongoing Barney/Robin will-they-or-won’t-they-oh-they-did-but-then-they-ultimately-didn’t plot line kept the show in second place for another week. As one of several shows to premiere this past week, Gregory‘s fate hasn’t been decided yet. Add its name to the purgatorial list that includes high-profile newcomers Pan Am, Terra Nova, Once Upon a Time, and Last Man Standing. Keep reading to see which shows are in danger as we slide into November, and cast your vote for which should be canceled next.

TV Leaderboard: 'Community' scares its way to the top of EW.com reader rankings

Since the start of the fall TV season, only two shows have been tops with EW.com readers: The Vampire Diaries and Breaking Bad. To that storied list we can now add NBC’s wily and weird Thursday night cult comedy Community, which tickled and (perhaps) terrified viewers with a Halloween anthology episode. Meanwhile, Once Upon a Time‘s series premiere landed just out of the top five. Check out the complete rankings below:  READ FULL STORY

TV Leaderboard: 'The Vampire Diaries' takes the lead again in EW.com reader ratings

With Breaking Bad – and its stranglehold of the EW.com reader rankings — now out of the picture, it should surprise no one that The Vampire Diaries has vaulted back to the top of the pack, thanks to a jam-packed episode that featured Elena getting her Buffy on. Meanwhile, a new addition to the EW recap ranks, ABC’s Happy Endings, makes a happy debut at no. 4. Here are the full standings:  READ FULL STORY

This Week's Cover: 'American Horror Story' and eight other new shows you love

Do you like scary movies? Then you’ll love FX’s new series American Horror Story, the craziest new TV series of the fall season — and perhaps ever. Created by Glee’s Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, AHS is a feverish, sexed-up reimagining of one of the most reliable tropes of the genre, the haunted house. And in this week’s issue, EW goes behind the scenes of the fabulously freaky frightfest. The Harmon family — father Ben (The Practice‘s Dylan McDermott), mother Vivien (Friday Night Lights‘ Connie Britton), and daughter Violet (newcomer Taissa Farmiga) — move from Boston to Los Angeles for a fresh start, but end up moving into a house that makes the Insidious abode look like a trip to Disneyland. Despite a warning that the previous owners have died in the house, the family still moves in and that’s when all hell literally breaks loose. Pretty soon, Vivien is having sex with someone/something in a rubber fetish suit, Ben is sleepwalking naked around the house, and Violet is encountering a basement-dwelling creature nicknamed the “infantata.” And that’s just in the first 50 minutes. “I read the script and I was like, ‘Um…whaat? I don’t understand,’” says Britton. “I kind of took a leap of faith.”  READ FULL STORY

TV Leaderboard: 'Breaking Bad' tops again in EW.com reader ratings

As Breaking Bad enters the homestretch for its fourth season, this week’s episode — in which a tragedy forced Jesse to choose sides in the Walt/Gus conflict — was far and away the highest-rated TV show among EW.com readers. Elsewhere, Glee jumped into the top ranks for the first time, thanks to an episode, “Asian F,” widely considered to be one of the show’s very best in a long time. Parks and Recreation continued its unbroken streak of top-tier ratings, while The Vampire Diaries dropped a bit to fifth. Here are the full standings: READ FULL STORY

TV Leaderboard: 'Breaking Bad' passes 'Vampire Diaries' in EW.com reader ratings

The CW’s The Vampire Diaries may have been tops in EW.com reader ratings last week, but that was only based on partial data — we hadn’t yet been able to include Friday and Sunday programming. And now that a full week of new TV is under our belt, a new champion has emerged: AMC’s Breaking Bad, in which a desperate Walt turned to Saul for help after Gus brought the hammer down. Also moving into the top ranks: the season premieres of Friday’s sci-fi freakout Fringe, and Sunday’s lawyer-cum-political-cum-domestic drama The Good Wife.
