Amber Tamblyn on her new PSA with David Cross: 'The best way to receive information is through comedy'

It seems all good things lead back to Arrested Development.

That certainly was the beginning for a buzzy new video calling out the United States’ restrictive healthcare laws for women. When Arrested star David Cross was in Europe promoting the show last month, his wife, actress Amber Tamblyn, joined him and the couple took a day trip to Stockholm. They may have been out of the country, but they were keeping up with news from home, where things were heating up in the Texas statehouse and a woman named Wendy Davis was about to gain national attention. While waiting for the bus, the idea for their PSA/sketch “Gynotician” was born — and written up just a few minutes later.

“Gynotician,” a term lovingly borrowed from Planned Parenthood, is Cross and Tamblyn’s response to, in their opinion, the increasingly outrageous restrictions hurting women’s health. “I think it’s been a long time coming, and it probably will continue to be a long time coming, meaning it’s many things layered on top of many things,” Tamblyn explained to EW on the phone this afternoon about why now was the time for them to get involved. “It’s really hard because people who want to look at the video and say, ‘This is just an ignorant celebrity couple making a video to support their pro-abortion thoughts,’ [that] is so myopic and so terrible and incorrect because it’s a tiny, tiny drop in the bucket of crap that is that law. And that law [in Texas that was recently passed] more than anything is about all the other aspects of women’s healthcare that it blocks and destroys.” READ FULL STORY

David Cross and Amber Tamblyn release women's health PSA -- VIDEO

Although the debate about healthcare in this country is far from a laughing matter, professional funny people David Cross and Amber Tamblyn (who are married in real life) managed to find the humor in a not-so-hilarious situation, all while making a succinct point about the United States’ issues with reproductive care.

In a new spot, written by “concerned American citizens Amber and David Tamblyn,” “Gynotician” features Cross and Tamblyn portraying a “doctor” and a patient who needs some medical attention. Sadly, Cross may be wearing a white lab coat, but he’s actually a politician who has no idea what he’s talking about. Imagine that!

A look back at Channing Tatum in 'She's the Man'

Congratulations are in order for Channing Tatum. He’s got his likely summer blockbuster, White House Down, opening today; he’s been killing it on the press front (Channing all over your Tatum is now a real-life phrase. Congratulations!) and I don’t think I’ve ever wanted a kid more than watching him adorably dance with co-star Joey King on Good Morning America. But he wasn’t always such an A-list stud (Or, more accurately, A-list; he was always a stud). Back in 2006, Tatum was best known for a little teen comedy called She’s the Man.

She’s the Man is, 100 percent unironically, one of my all-time favorite movies. I’m not saying it should have won an Oscar, but when it comes to a film I can watch over and over again, Amanda Bynes dressing up as a dude to prove that ladies are just as good at soccer as the boys, muttering weird catchphrases while her hot roommate/crush Duke (Tatum) parades around in a white tank top while school president David Cross — surely collecting a paycheck! —  makes everyone uncomfortable is a romp that can even find the laugh lines in systemic gender inequality. Plus, the whole thing is based on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. Highbrow!

I’m bringing this movie up today because it’s where the White House Down star got his leading-role start (He’d previously had small parts in things like Coach Carter and  Havoc). He may now have successfully moved on to bigger things, but I’ll never forget the sensitive hunk who fell in love with his roommate. Below, five incredible Tatum-specific moments from She’s the Man (and yes, many of them are shirtless). A star is born!

'Arrested Development': Tobias made an 'Insert Me Anywhere' audition reel for Ron Howard -- VIDEO

Dr. Tobias Fünke may be the world’s first analr–

Wait, that loses all of its humor if it’s written out and not said, but we all know that his real dream is to be a famous actor. Every good actor needs a sizzle reel to show off their acting skills and Tobias’ is incredible.

With a big “Attention Ron Howard” written across the screen, Tobias’ one-minute video shows him as a doctor, a cowboy, the cop from The Village People (sort of), and more as he tells Ron Howard to “insert me anywhere.”

David Cross says he snorted cocaine at White House Correspondents' Dinners

Here’s something President Obama won’t want to sing about: In a new interview with Playboy, comedic actor David Cross admits to snorting cocaine at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in 2009 while only 65 feet away from President Obama.

“It was just about being able to say that I did it, that I did cocaine in the same room as the president. I’m not proud of it, nor am I ashamed of it,” he confessed, seemingly legitimizing it by saying the amount he ingested was only the size of “a tick.”

“It was a tiny granule of coke that I put on my wrist and said, “Watch this. I need a witness.” And then I ducked under the table and did it. It wasn’t like I got high,” he says in the interview. READ FULL STORY
