'Dancing With the Stars': Week 2 is liiiiiiiiiiiive!

I hope you’ve guzzled your 2-Hour Energy (liquid glitter)! Tonight the season 16 couples crank out a high-powered jive, quickstep, or JAZZ (one of those newfangled but now mandatory DWTS styles) routine as they try not to think about the first elimination tomorrow. Derek has Instagramed his costume — and it’s (gasp!) just jeans. READ FULL STORY »

'Dancing With the Stars': Season 16 is liiiiiive!

Welcome back to Dancing With the Stars! It’s season 16, and whether you’re watching because of the cast or in spite of it — No more Maks! Low star power! Who or what is a “Zendaya”? — Planet Mirrorballus is still the finest Fabergé egg/escapism destination in the great Glitter Galaxy, and I’m still on board to recount the highs (sparkly tears of joy) and lows (pit stains) of all the fabricated drama. It’s not supposed to be about the cast anyway — it’s about the dancing! Ha, well, we’ll see how that works out. READ FULL STORY »

PopWatch Planner: Saying goodbye for now to 'Girls,' 'Pretty Little Liars,' and hello to 'Bates Motel,' 'Admission'

We’re not going to lie: Other than a little crooning on the part of Justin Timberlake, and a visit from Tina Fey, this week’s offerings are pretty serious, but in a good, high-quality drama kind of way. There’s controversy, psychopathy, lying, scandal, spies, and danger. You’re welcome.

Kick off your week tonight by catching what is sure to be the highly polarizing season 2 finale of Girls, and then I recommend you shut your eyes and, without looking back, jump into the intense and oh-so-entertaining drama from Scandal, The Americans, and more during the rest of your week.

Here’s what you need to look out for this week:

SUNDAY
Girls, 9 p.m., HBO

It’s season-finale time for the anti-sitcom comedy’s second go-around. And after the controversies we’ve already seen, we’re willing to bet that tonight’s episode is going to be the talk of the town come Monday. READ FULL STORY »

'Don't Trust the B' and 'Dancing With the Stars' are a match made in bitchy mirrorball heaven

Planet Mirrorballus is still aliiiiiiiive! James Van Der Beek — TV’s James Van Der Beek — faced off against the Real Dean Cain in the hardwood rectagon on tonight’s Don’t Trust the B in Apt. 23. That’s a huge mouthful of extra cheese, but it totally worked, because when does extra cheese not?

James’ Dancing With the Stars arch rival Dean Cain got to dance with real-life pro Karina Smirnoff, while James — who had difficulty contending with his original boozy, strung-out partner on last week’s episode — met his bedazzled match this week in new partner Valentina (Shanti Lowry). Sadly, after a decent dress rehearsal that was VERY Girls Just Want to Have Fun Final Dance-Off (Dawson was Janey Glenn and Superman was Natalie Sands), James stumbled during his cha cha with Valentina. He’d been drugged by June’s mom of all people, via a Chinese tea with “messed up radish people” on the package.  READ FULL STORY »

'Dancing With the Stars': And the 'All-Stars' winners are...

Update: Annie’s recap is live. Spoiler ahead! After a star-studded finale featuring Dance Center, a Pam Anderson five-man lap dance, and McKayla Maroney not oppressing the urge to make a “Call Me Maybe” hand gesture, one Sparkalien couple has been crowned the new King and Queen of Planet Mirrorballus. They are….. READ FULL STORY »

'Dancing With the Stars': Finals are liiiiiiiiiiive!

Update: Annie’s recap is live. At laaaaaast! The finals are here — along with my parents and sister (DANCMSTR Dee, Bolero Bill, and Mirror ball Meggers), who’ve never been in the ballroom! Look for us! Three giants and a lady. I’m wearing a beige and black pattered dress and crazy glasses and look like a nut as usual. Guessing everyone else will be in black.

Tonight’s one-hour performance finale is just a quick hit, with freestyles and “favorite dances” from our top three couples: Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough, Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani, and Kelly Monaco and Valentin Chmerkovskiy. May…..the most ambitious freestyle win? (According to DWTS lore, yes.)

Discuss the show here — or on our DWTS live blog — during the live telecast and nominate your hidden gems in the comments! My recap will be up later on.

'DWTS': The Twelve Torsos of Thanksgiving!

On the day of Thanksgiving, my true love Lord Mirrorballus gave to me: 12 Torsos Twirling! Here’s a dozen bare chests — from 2012 alone! — to be thankful for this turkey day. Don’t worry, there’s plenty of dark meat (thank you spray tan) to go around.  READ FULL STORY »
