Chris-Mas in November: Which Chris is your 'Sexiest Man Alive'?

People named Chris Hemsworth this year’s Sexiest Man Alive—but is he the right Chris for the job?

Hemsworth is one of many alluring actors who share the same name. There’s also Into the Woods‘ Chris Pine, Captain America‘s Chris Evans, and Guardians of the Galaxy’s Chris Pratt (who’s currently on the cover of GQ‘s Men of the Year issue).

Of course, there are also many other famous (and attractive) men named Chris—Chris Messina, Chris Rock, Chris Tucker—but Hemsworth, Pine, Evans, and Pratt are the ones you’re most likely to confuse for one another. For one, they all look great in scruffy facial hair. And they’re all white. And they’ve all starred in big-budget geek-bait franchises.

But they do have some differences from one another. Here’s what makes each Chris the right—and wrong—choice for Sexiest Man Alive.

So let's talk about Captain America and Black Widow...

So we all saw Captain America: The Winter Soldier. (Seriously, we all saw it.) And we’ve all had a good, long, thoughtful conversation about the deeper themes lingering under the surface of the paranoia-inducing, wiki-leaking, surveillance-state-exploding superhero sequel. But there’s a  more obvious thing we need to address — a question hovering over the whole movie that remains unanswered. Captain America. Black Widow. Question mark? READ FULL STORY

'Captain America: Winter Soldier': Steve Rogers' pop culture 'catch-up' list is different around the world

Steve-Rogers-Winter-Soldier.jpg

Imagine that you’ve been frozen in ice for 70 years and woke up to find that everything about the world — including pop culture — had changed. Where would you start? Catch up on Breaking Bad? Marathon every Star Wars film? Read up on Lost in order to argue the merits of a polarizing series finale? (Then again, perhaps reading up on How I Met Your Mother would be more pertinent right now…) READ FULL STORY

Late Night Highlight: Chris Evans talks 'Captain America' on 'Tonight Show'

Being a superhero isn’t easy.

Chris Evans stopped by the Tonight Show Monday night to discuss how he prepared for his role in Captain America: Winter Soldier. This time around, his training took a different turn. “We tried to do a little bit more gymnastics,” Evans explained with a laugh, before joking, “I had a whole ribbon routine!” READ FULL STORY

Chris Evans ready to leave acting after Marvel films, wants to direct instead

Just because Chris Evans is a movie star doesn’t mean that’s all he wants to be.

In an interview with Variety, the Captain America star said he will only continue to act under Marvel contract and then wants to get behind the camera and start to direct. “I can’t see myself pursuing acting strictly outside of what I’m contractually obligated to do,” Evans said. “I’ve known for a while I wanted to direct, but [time] never really opens up. There’s another movie to do, there’s another acting job. It just got to a point where I was like, you know what — I have to do this.” READ FULL STORY

'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' premiere: Crossover is the word

You’re in my world, now I’m in yours. Crossing over among movies in the world of Marvel seems to be as easy as slicing through a jet plane with your super strong shield.

The much-anticipated premiere of Captain America: The Winter Solider in Hollywood Thursday at the El Captain Theatre came with the blocking of streets, the screaming of fans and a nearly complete turn out of the cast. (Only Robert Redford was absent) But we’re hoping we’ll see him again, in another Marvel franchise, and until then, here are five crossover flashes direct from the red carpet.

'The Avengers 2' without Robert Downey Jr.? It's possible even if it's unthinkable

The final title card in Iron Man 3 declared, “Tony Stark Will Return.” It’s a reassuring promise (and one that shows that the character’s not-so-secret identity has gained just as much popularity as his superhero alter ego). But it’s not necessarily a guarantee that Robert Downey Jr. will also return.

The massive opening weekend for Iron Man 3 was immediately followed by uncertainty about Downey’s future in the franchise. With the completion of the third installment in the trilogy about the Armored Avenger, Downey fulfilled his contractual obligations to play the character.

So the big question here is, will Downey be in The Avengers 2? READ FULL STORY

What is the cast of 'The Avengers' really worth?

No one could claim that The Avengers are an evenly matched team of superheroes. Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) are more-or-less indestructible — Thor can even fly, for Odin’s sake — whereas Captain America (Chris Evans) is just the most fit human being ever with a seemingly shatterproof shield. And while Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) are supremely talented, they are very much earthbound mortals. Then there’s Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), who can fly and shoot rockets and such, but is embodied by a highly flawed man who’s always just a hair away from death.

But what about the actors playing all of these roles — are they as lopsidedly matched? READ FULL STORY
