'Dancing With the Stars': Cher has spoken! (BLEEP.)

Guest judge Cher certainly looked and felt at home on television’s most sparkly alternate universe during her intergalactic visit to Monday’s Dancing With the Stars (read our full episode recap here).

The most subdued of the three judges (which is really saying something, namely that Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba are cuckoo), Cher gave out mostly 9s and compliments. But she was extremely amusing throughout the two-hour episode, threatening to “knee” Tonioli if he flailed too hard, upping her game from a demure sequined shift to a ridiculous feathered headdress for her second musical performance (watch it below), and dramatically delaying her score announcements as if conjuring up the paddles from the sleeves of her magical cloak.

At one point, during a critique of Elizabeth Berkley and Val Chmerkovskiy (Spiderweb Bodysuit and Shirtless)’s jazz routine set to her song “Bang Bang,” Cher endured one of the LONGEST BLEEPS EVER RECORDED. Damn that 10-second delay! Try to figure out what she said along with me, and check out some other highlights below. READ FULL STORY

'Dancing With the Stars': Cher Night results, elimination

Baby, save up all your tears. You might need them someday...like right now, as another pair has just been ejected from Planet Mirrorballus following Cher’s bleep-heavy guest judge stint on Dancing With the Stars.

The seven remaining couples danced to Cher songs in front of Cher. It’s like the exact definition of #SPARKLEBARF. Look it up. No, no need. It’s on TV. You can preview some of the Cher Night routines here — and hear Brant/Peta, Corbin/Karina, and Jack/Cheryl tell EW all about the hardships of Week 8 — over on Inside TV.

Update: The eliminated couple is…. READ FULL STORY

Bryan Cranston, Cher offer custom voicemail recordings for charity

It may be one of the most boring lines ever — “Leave a message after the beep.” But what if you managed to jazz up your phone’s outgoing message with a celebrity?

The advocacy group Autism Speaks is offering just that: custom-recorded messages from Batman star Adam West, Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston, singer Cher, actors Jack Black, Peter Dinklage, and Jim Parsons, Star Wars star Mark Hamill, Star Trek actors Michael Dorn and Zachary Quinto, and broadcaster Vin Scully.

“We got a good mix and match,” said Ed Asner, the curmudgeonly Emmy Award winner of The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Lou Grant, who dreamed up the unusual fundraiser with one of his sons, Matt, who works for Autism Speaks. “They’ve all been really happy to do it. And if they’re not happy, I’ll put a hit out on them.”

From Oct. 7 to Oct. 13, a limited number of 20-second long MP3 messages you write will be recorded by each celebrity on a first-come, first-served basis for fans to do with as they wish. All requests must be of the PG variety and each costs $299.

Cher slams Miley Cyrus, but feels 'ashamed' for her comments

Reactions to Miley Cyrus at the VMAs: People are still having them!

Earlier this week, we heard what both Britney Spears and Paula Patton had to say about the performance. (Spoiler alert: They think she’s just being Miley.) But while both those stars were shrugging their shoulders, another music legend was sharpening her claws.

“I’m not old-fashioned,” Cher told USA Today in an interview published Tuesday. “She could have come out naked, and if she’d just rocked the house, I would have said, ‘You go, girl.’ It just wasn’t done well. She can’t dance, her body looked like hell, the song wasn’t great, one cheek was hanging out. And, chick, don’t stick out your tongue if it’s coated.”

Ann-Margret shines in recently released 'LIFE' photos

Not many stars can pull off the whole first-name-only thing. Before Cher, before Madonna, and before Shakira, there was Ann-Margret.

The Swedish-born actress starred in Bye Bye Birdie and Viva Las Vegas, iconic films that turned her into a legend, but she wasn’t always the commanding presence we’ve seen onscreen. LIFE recently released never-before-seen photographs of a young Ann-Margret, shot for a 1961 profile, right before she hit it big in State Fair. It’s fascinating to check out the now-72-year-old star before the rest of the world could see her shine.

Check out the beautiful snapshots and Ann-Margret’s chat with retired LIFE and People editor Richard Stolley here.

'Watch What Happens Live': It's Cher's world -- we're all just living in it

Last night’s Watch What Happens: Live featured Andy Cohen interviewing one of his idols, Cher. This late-night show is definitely geared towards a certain audience — if you have an aversion to trivia games played by reality stars living in Bravoland and constant mentions of drinking, then this isn’t the show for you.

Yet there’s a certain charm to it, mostly due to Andy’s sheer excitement over everything in the world. Even when he’s mentioning things like the “Jackhole of the Day,” he says it nearly bouncing out of his seat and with such a smile that it looks like it’s going to fall off of his face. It’s like he downs six espressos, three 5-Hour Energies, and several glasses of bubbly before every show.

So if he’s like that normally, how do you think he reacted when singer-actress-inspiration Cher appeared on WWHL last night? Let’s just say excitement is an understatement. At several points throughout the episode, I thought that Andy was going to start crying — I’ve never seen a grown man so thrilled in my life. Homeboy had some high expectations though: Cher was his idol growing up, even affectionately telling her how he used to sit transfixed in front of the TV watching her and her elaborate outfits: “You gave me life, you gave me hope, you  gave me fairy dust.” READ FULL STORY

Cher apologizes for Twitter rant against Mitt Romney and conservatives: 'I was a Hater!'

Never one to mince words about the issues, Cher started a flame war yesterday when she tweeted — and later deleted — some harsh words for the GOP’s presidential hopeful: “If ROMNEY gets elected I don’t know if I can breathe same air as Him & his Right Wing Racist Homophobic Women Hating Tea Bagger Masters.”

Though many rose to support Cher’s passion, several followers railed against the Oscar winner for her opinions. It only fueled the diva, who responded to one fan, “TOO HARSH? That’s me Holding BACK! They care nothing about the POOR The OLD The SICK The HUNGRY CHILDREN & People striving 4 a Better LIFE ! –” READ FULL STORY

Cher defends son Chaz Bono against 'stupid bigots'

She got you, babe. Cher has taken to Twitter to defend her son Chaz Bono’s decision to join Dancing With the Stars as the series’ first transgendered contestant. After becoming aware that Chaz was taking a lot of heat from transphobic Internet commenters, she encouraged her fans to voice support for him on blogs and message boards and reminded everyone, “Mothers don’t stop Getting angry with stupid bigots who fk with their children !”

Cher assures America: “bet VAST MAJORITY of People will LOVE CHAZ on DWTS ! & it’s took Fkg Guts 2! Chaz isn’t exactly the ‘Gotta Dance Gotta Dance’ kinda Guy.”

James Franco covers a Cher song from 'Burlesque'

james-francoImage Credit: Roger Kisby/Getty ImageEverything James Franco does is either densely symbolic or fabulously meaningless, and his latest shenanigan is no different: The mega-hyphenate star tweeted an extended audio tidbit of himself singing Cher’s big song from Burlesque, “You Haven’t Seen The Last of Me.” According to Franco’s tweet, “they pulled this from the oscar show,” which could be true… or it could also just be a teasing reference to the ongoing “Will/Should Franco Sing at the Oscars?” debate. Is Franco’s song serious, funny, or seriously funny? Decide for yourself by listening to the song after the jump… [Update: Oh, if only you could turn back time… Looks like it’s been taken down, folks. But just let yourself imagine it, readers. It’s exactly what you’d expect, except more, except less.] READ FULL STORY
