Chelsea Handler says 'SNL' 'blew me off'

Chelsea Handler has a bone to pick with Saturday Night Live.

In an interview with HuffPost Live’s Roy Sekoff on Thursday, Handler explained that she met with SNL producers who offered her a hosting gig, but never followed through. “They said, ‘Oh, we have to have you host.’ My agent called, he said, ‘You’re hosting SNL. They’re gonna give you a date in the fall.’ And then it never happened.”

They asked her to host a second time when her book, Uganda Be Kidding Me, came out. “I said, ‘OK, great. Well, they blew me off last time, I don’t know what the issue was.’ And I think the thing I heard was something like … the writers have a problem anytime we bring on a comedian, which is complete nonsense,” she said. “I mean, Sarah [Silverman]’s hosted, Lena Dunham hosted it.”

She explained that she would have preferred them to be upfront. “I feel bad for people who can’t just say, ‘Listen, you’re just not our cup of tea.'”

Watch Dave Grohl and Chelsea Handler's hilarious SiriusXM Town Hall

Dave-Grohl-and-Chelsea-Handler.jpg

During the SiriusXM Town Hall on EW Radio, Dave Grohl and Chelsea Handler remembered what happened at the Chelsea Lately goodbye, or, as the Foo Fighters frontman called it, “The most f—ed up Hollywood Squares s–t I’ve ever experienced in my life.”

The pair pointed to the varied (keyword: varied) celebrities who joined them in a “We Are the World” parody: Bobby Brown, Buzz Aldrin, Wiz Khalifa, Rick Springfield, Sammy Hagar, Miley Cyrus, Kelly Osbourne, and Josh Gad, among others. There were about 100 total.

Handler joked of Cyrus being handed a joint, and a sober Osbourne freaking out, trying not to inhale the smoke. “This is a disaster, an amazing disaster,” Handler said of her goodbye.

She thanked Grohl for his part. “I’m a saint, just so you know,” he joked. “Nicest f—ing guy in the world, that’s me. Nicest guy in rock.” He wasn’t so nice, however, when he heard Gad singing, recognizing him as the voice of Olaf from Frozen

Chelsea Handler addresses next move rumors on 'Conan' -- VIDEO

Chelsea Handler’s Chelsea Lately will end in 2014 after an eight-year run. As a result, Handler’s been the subject of many a rumor about what she’s planning to do next.

But don’t believe everything you read. On Monday night, Chelsea stopped by Conan to clarify that despite reports about a move to CBS or Netflix, she hasn’t actually made any decisions about what she’s doing after Chelsea Lately: “Everything that’s printed about me is a lie.” (Note to readers: This post is not a lie.)

Chelsea Handler: 'I'm not racist. I date a lot of black people' -- VIDEO

Despite what her Oscar tweets may have indicated, Chelsea Handler is emphatically not a racist — at least, according to Chelsea Handler.

“People are mad at me all the time. If I was worried about that, then I would be spending a lot of time online. I’d rather be a little bit more productive,” she explained to George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America Tuesday, after he brought up her controversial Academy Award-night comments — including this message about Sunday’s Best Supporting Actress winner: “#AngelinaJolie just filed adoption papers #lupitanyongo #Oscars -@chelseahandler.”

Okay, cool! Thanks for clearing that up, Chelsea. This would be the perfect time to change the subject. Right? Right?

Yeah, no. “I’m not racist,” the comedian continued, laughing as though the very idea were utterly ludicrous. “I date a lot of black people, so that would be a difficult thing to explain to them.” Palm, meet face.

Tom Hiddleston reveals he wanted to play Thor, not Loki -- VIDEO

Would a Loki played by any other English actor be as dark and dastardly?

Tom Hiddleston revealed that Loki, nemesis of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, wasn’t his first choice. He originally auditioned for the role of Thor, he told Chelsea Handler on last night’s Chelsea Lately. Hiddleston even beefed up for the Thor try-outs, bulking up from 180 lbs. to 198 lbs., to which Handler replied, “I mean it was pretty stupid to do that before the audition.”

But try as he might, the hammer-wielding, prince of Asgard role just wasn’t meant to be. “They were always looking for Loki as well, and I think — the closer I got, they were like, ‘Actually, you should play the bad guy,'” he said.

Handler seemed more concerned with the actor’s bodily transformation and physical stats. Her assessment? “You’re good, everything’s good.” We concur.

Jennifer Aniston denies she's a nudist -- VIDEO

jennifer-aniston-02.jpg

If you can’t trust Star magazine, what can you trust?

Jennifer Aniston swung by pal Chelsea Handler’s show last night to promote We’re the Millers, which, as everyone is already no doubt aware, has everybody’s some people’s favorite former Friend playing a stripper. But instead of talking about that, Handler whipped out an issue of Star and proceeded to read from it that Aniston, along with fiance Justin Theroux, is now a nudist. Cue Aniston’s bemused expression, followed by a surprisingly-not-convincing denial.

Does Star magazine know something we don’t? (Unlikely.) Is this all just an elaborate bit to get you thinking about naked Jennifer Aniston, starring in a new sexy movie this very weekend? (Likely.)

Patrick Wilson calls 'Girls' backlash 'awful' and 'ridiculous' -- VIDEO

It has been five months, six days, and around 19 hours since HBO aired “One Man’s Trash,” a.k.a. “that episode of Girls where Patrick Wilson and Lena Dunham have all the sex” — yet somehow, we’re still talking about it.

To be more accurate: Patrick Wilson himself discussed the episode on Chelsea Lately last night, saying that he found all the chatter about “One Man’s Trash” — specifically, the chorus of people incensed by the idea that someone who looks like Wilson would hook up with someone who looks like Dunham — both “awful” and “ridiculous.”

After joking that he and the Girls multihyphenate had had “actual sex” on camera, Wilson got down to business: “It’s one thing for someone to talk about, ‘I would never believe a character like yours would do that,'” he told Handler. “But all of a sudden, people were tweeting, ‘Patrick Wilson would never have sex with this kind of woman.’ I mean, it was brutal.”

Check out 10 now-famous comedians in their early days of stand-up

Patton Oswalt posted a clip on Twitter of his first acting gig at the tender age of 19. Every comedian started somewhere — often on a dark stage in awesomely dated clothes.

Watch his set below and check out the stand-up routines (and the fashions!) from some of your favorite comedians. (Some  videos may be NSFW due to explicit language.) READ FULL STORY
