'Modern Family' creator invites Ann Romney to officiate Mitch and Cam's wedding -- once it's legal

Could next season of Modern Family feature television’s first dressage-themed gay wedding?

First Lady nominee Ann Romney recently told Entertainment Tonight that Modern Family is her favorite TV show. ModFam co-creator Steve Levitan got wind of Romney’s praise and posted a reaction on his Twitter page yesterday: “Thrilled Ann Romney says ModFam is her favorite show. We’ll offer her the role of officiant at Mitch & Cam’s wedding. As soon as it’s legal.”

Sounds perfect! I can see it now: The grooms take turns riding elaborately dressed stallions down a rose petal-strewn aisle. At the end of it, Ann Romney waits, proudly posed atop Rafalca. Before the “I do”s, Luke accidentally sets Claire’s hair on fire and Hayley and Dylan are caught making out in a tucked-away vestibule. Gloria yells. Lily stares. Manny folds his handkerchief into a perfect pocket square. Alex rolls her eyes.

There’s just one problem here: Like her husband Mitt, Romney doesn’t believe in marriage equality.  READ FULL STORY

It's Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries' first anniversary! What would you give the couple?

What a difference a year makes. 365 days ago, Kimberly Noel Kardashian and Kris Humphries vowed to like, love and cherish each other forever in front of 440 adoring guests — and a whole lot of video cameras. A few months later, K Squared renewed their vows on Ellen; days after that, the couple’s four-hour wedding special finally aired on E! over the course of two nights. But on Halloween, Kardashifans and romantics the world over were shocked – shocked — when Kim laid down a bombshell: She was filing for divorce. The course of televised true love never did run smooth.

Ever since Kardashian and Humphries said their “I do”s — and especially since she said “I won’t anymore” — their marriage and its dissolution have been mercilessly picked apart by media outlets. (Including, um, this one.) As with any breakup, only a new relationship could encourage forward momentum; as soon as Kanye West revealed via rap this spring that he had fallen “in love with Kim,” memories of KHump immediately faded.

The weird thing is, though, that Kim and Kris are technically still married. Extended legal bickering means that the ex-couple most likely will not be granted a divorce or an annulment before 2013 — meaning that today is, in fact, their first wedding anniversary. Ain’t love (and the court system) grand? READ FULL STORY

Bella's 'Breaking Dawn' wedding dress and Pippa's bridesmaids dress go on sale, just in time for your Royal vampire wedding.

You know, if you think about it, the Kim Kardashian wedding and the Breaking Dawn wedding really aren’t all that different. They were both over-hyped spectacles with wildly inappropriate partnerships in which the groom could technically be considered dead and at some point a werewolf showed up. (Just kidding, Jacob shows up to the reception in human form!) Of course, Bella and Edward’s married life (seen here, looking downright elated to be on their honeymoon together) lasted just a little bit longer than Kim and Kris Humphries’ (eternity > 72 days), and brides still want to wear Mrs. Cullen’s dress. (Sorry Kim, no one wants to take their chances on a cursed dress. Also, it was cuckoo.)

Lucky for them, designer Carolina Herrera, who made the elegant, understated dress worn by Kristen Stewart in Breaking Dawn — Part 1, will be selling the gowns at her CHNY boutiques starting next year, according to Reuters. While there’s no price set for the detailed lace and satin original, for those who simply cannot wait to marry their vampire husbands, Alfredo Angelo has made a replica that’s going for $799. Seriously? Kim Zolciak's wedding gets reality TV treatment

Because televising her wedding worked out so well for that other Kim, Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak has signed on for a Bravo special documenting her whirlwind walk down the aisle. Don’t Be Tardy for the Wedding will give “an up close and personal look at the next chapter in my life,” says Zolciak. Kim Kardashian defends her marriage -- pre-split -- in new 'Marie Claire' cover story

It used to be starlets couldn’t do bridal photo shoots before walking down the aisle for fear of the wedding being called off before the issue hit stands. Now maybe they’ll have to not give cover story interviews about their marriages until at least three months has passed. Kim Kardashian graces Marie Claire‘s December issue and, in an interview conducted a few weeks after her wedding to Kris Humphries, defended their rush to the altar: “We felt like, ‘Why wait?’” she said. “It’s fun to have a partner who understands your life and lets you be you.” She insisted everything was fine between her and Humphries despite tabloids already reporting problems: “I feel like where we’re at right now is the best time in my life,” she said. She proclaimed her faith in their bond: “I’m not worried about him at all,” she said. “We have a lot of trust, and I don’t think either of us would do anything to break that. It makes life so easy. He’s such a good guy; he is so down-to-earth, and it’s such a reality check. He is a normal guy, and I just want to chill out and be normal and not get glammed up all the time. He gets it. Sometimes my life can be really intimidating for people, but he allows me to work and do what I’ve gotta do.”  READ FULL STORY

Kim Zolciak wedding photo: The bride wore...

…everything but the kitchen sink, apparently. Real Housewives of Atlanta‘s Kim Zolciak seems to have taken the approach of fellow Georgian Scarlett O’Hara with her ornate wedding gown. In pics released to Life & Style, Kim shows off her new husband (as of last Friday) Kroy Biermann and the gown to end all gowns. Covered in beading, embroidery, and hand-carved crystal roses, Kim spared no detail with her Double Duchess Satin Baracci number. She even wore a custom veil with matching beads and embroidered lace. Who says Southerners don’t understand subtlety? READ FULL STORY

Kim Zolciak's engagement party: 10 things you WON'T hear or see

As our own Adam B. Vary pointed out in advance of Kim Kardashian’s (ultimately doomed) televised wedding fete, there are some things that inevitably go unsaid when it comes to reality stars. As Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak showed off her engagement ring today, it got us thinking: What won’t we hear or see when it comes to Zolciak’s engagement party? READ FULL STORY

Kelsey Grammer thinks Camille married Frasier, tears up talking about new wife

Kelsey Grammer’s sitdown with Piers Morgan aired last night, and, of course, Morgan got him to open up about his very public divorce with his third wife, Camille. Did she marry Grammer because he was a TV star, he asked? “I think she married me because I was Frasier,” Grammer laughed. “I think it was Frasier. You know, he had this great wonderful life … he was stylish … and fabulous, you know, just a little gay … and he was famous. Kelsey Grammer was a different story. You got home and Kelsey Grammer was somebody different.” Asked which of Camille’s comments have hurt him most, Grammer thought of two. “She once said that I didn’t want my daughter… that pissed me off,” he offered first. (Morgan put that into context as only he could: “You’ve been a fairly hopeless husband from time to time with the various wives, and then some of them have been pretty useless wives, but you’ve throughout been a very contentious, loving father, so that kind of thing must really hurt you.”) The statement that stung both him and his fourth wife, Kayte Walsh, even more was “that thing about the child we lost … something about it being karma … it’s just disgusting,” Grammer said.  READ FULL STORY

'Kim's Fairytale Wedding': Part 2 included an actual wedding...barely!

Last night, the final two hours of Kim’s Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event aired. And if you managed to sit through three hours and 33 minutes, you were finally rewarded with an actual wedding. But more on that later.

E! packed even more wedding prep into last night’s special leading up to the actual nuptials. Seating charts, catering menus, a bridal shower, and bachelor and bachelorette parties Vegas style. All of which had Kim making this important life observation: “I don’t know how Elizabeth Taylor got married so many times!” So really, part 2 was just a continuation of part 1. But with the wedding right around the corner, Kim finally answered some of the important questions brought up in Sunday’s special. Which Vera Wang wedding dress would she choose? Why choose just one? Let’s go with three. Would she hire Robin Thicke or Christina Aguilera to perform on the big day? Mr. Thicke won the job and was seen serenading the newlyweds during their first dance. Also seen: Rob Kardashian showing off his pre-Dancing with the Stars moves. READ FULL STORY

'Kim's Fairytale Wedding': Was it worth the wait?

Tonight’s E! special Keeping Up with the Kardashians: Kim’s Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event was an outrageously elongated affair — and I refer not just to the fact that merely saying its full title would occupy slow-talkers until Christmas 2017.

Despite its two hour length, this evening’s show did not actually cover the nuptials of Ms. Kardashian and NBA player Kris Humphries, who married way back in August. That will be taken care of in Monday’s companion special, Keeping Up with the Kardashians: Kim’s Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event 2: Electric Boogaloo. This show was all about the build-up. Which Vera Wang wedding dress would Kim choose? Could she have real diamonds in her bouquet (remarkably, not a joke)?  Would she hire Robin Thicke or Christina Aguilera to perform on the big day (remarkably, also not a joke)? The result was two hours of wedding prep porn, which at least meant it was a step up from Kim’s accidental excursion in real porn.

Or maybe not. Say what you like about XXX movies but they rarely feature gruesome close-up footage of a woman having elective, jowls-tightening surgery. (Obviously Debbie Does Dallas and Then Has Elective, Jowls-Tightening Surgery is the exception which proves the rule here). But one of the show’s major plot strands found Kim fretting while her mother Kris went under the knife and whatever other terrifying tools were surgically utilized onscreen after I covered my eyes with my hands and tore out my ear drums with my toes.

Speaking of tools, the show’s running time allowed plenty of space to explore the not-all-that-relevant binge eating of Kim’s sibling Rob who (just in case there wasn’t quite enough conspicuous consumption on display) was seen wolfing down a vast amount of Mexican food with Christian Bale-in-American-Psycho lookalike Scott Disick. Meanwhile, Humphries was routinely railroaded over wedding plans by Kim and Kris and routinely bad mouthed by Kim’s sister Khloe, who was determined he sign a prenuptial agreement. Oh, yes. Humphries is a professional basketball player but it is his wife who is the rich one. That’s how much money the Kardashians have.

And they just keep on getting more of it. The newlyweds are rumored to have made a(nother) fortune from televising their wedding and in tonight’s show Khloe and her husband Lamar Odom discussed their then upcoming appearance in a commercial that was actually screened in the course of the episode’s many, many ad breaks. As it happens, another advert was for the new Johnny Depp movie The Rum Diary.  The film is adapted from a novel by Hunter S. Thompson who once described the TV business as “a cruel and shallow money trench.” In arguably related news, the second half of Kim’s Fairytale Wedding will be broadcast on Monday at 9 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. CT.

Did you watch tonight’s show? What did you think?
