Kate Winslet explains why she named her son Bear Blaze -- VIDEO

ellen-kate-winslet.jpg

This past December, Kate Winslet and husband Ned Rocknroll (more on that name later) welcomed a new baby boy into the world: Bear Blaze Winslet. So when the actress went on Ellen yesterday — for an interview that will air today — Ellen DeGeneres naturally asked how Winslet came up with that amazing name.

“A friend of mine when I was younger was nicknamed Bear, and I had just always really loved it,” Winslet explained. “He was everyone’s shoulder to cry on, he was a big bear hug, he was just this great figure in my life. And I had just always remembered it.”

Dax Shepard writes essay about paparazzi targeting children

Almost all of us are guilty of occasionally flipping through a magazine and absentmindedly checking out photos of a celebrity with their kids. Readers might not spend a lot of time thinking about it — but Dax Shepard wants you to start.

The actor, who’s married to Kristen Bell and welcomed a daughter this year, wrote an essay for The Huffington Post, “Why Our Children Should Be Off Limits to the Paparazzi.” In the piece, Shepard explains he recently was at an event hosted by Jennifer Garner about California Senate Bill 606, which makes it illegal “to photograph a child because of their parent’s employment in a manner that ‘seriously alarms, annoys, torments, or terrorizes’ them.” READ FULL STORY

Kate Winslet won't name new baby Bear Rocknroll, will stand up to her critics

I’m sorry to say that this post will begin with some disappointing news: Kate Winslet’s third son, her first with third husband Ned Rocknroll (yes, for real that’s what he calls himself), will not bear the glorious Rocknroll family name. (He will, however, continue to bear the glorious first name Bear.)

“We haven’t ever really had that conversation; [the child] was always going to have my name,” the Oscar winner tells Glamour UK in a candid new interview. Winslet’s other children, Mia and Joe, already have “Winslet” as part of their names, she continued, “so it would be weird if this baby didn’t. Of course we’re not going to call it Rocknroll. People might judge all they like, but I’m a f—ing grown-up.”

Yowza! And that’s not all Kate had to say about any folks out there who may be judging her — for marrying a dude named Ned Rocknroll, for having three children with three different fathers, or for winning an Oscar for a Holocaust movie just four years after mocking that very notion on a hilarious episode of Extras. Actually, maybe scrap that last bit.

Simon Cowell talks to Ellen about being a dad: 'I'm actually happier than I've ever been' -- VIDEO

The circumstances of Simon Cowell becoming a dad were a tabloid editor’s dream, but now that the dust has settled, the X Factor and American Idol mastermind told Ellen DeGeneres: “I’m actually happier than I’ve ever been.”

News broke at the end of July that Lauren Silverman, the still-married wife of one of Cowell’s friends, was pregnant with the reality-TV judge’s child. In an interview that will air on Tuesday’s Ellen, Cowell told DeGeneres how he reacted when he got the news.

“Oh my god, it’s exciting, and [also] this is going to be a bit of a nightmare now for the next few weeks,” he said, later adding, “I can’t blame the media, because it was a really juicy story. But there was a lot of stuff that was said about [Silverman] — that she trapped me and that she’s a gold digger — and it’s absolute nonsense. She’s a great girl.”

Check out a three-minute sneak peek of the interview before Tuesday’s show:
