Billy Eichner talks the making of his Emmys segment

One of the standout moments from this year’s Emmys was undeniably the taped segment in which comedian Billy Eichner and host Seth Meyers ran around the streets of New York quizzing (or simply yelling at) people about the awards. And it wouldn’t have happened if Eichner had not decided to send a “ballsy” (his word) email to Meyers’ producer, Mike Shoemaker.

But thanks to Eichner’s initiative, the evening had a refreshing dose of absurdity. In the segment, which mimicked the structure of the recurring games on Eichner’s Billy on the Street, Eichner called out the Academy’s snubbing of Tatiana Maslany, Elisabeth Moss, The Mindy Project, and The Good Wife, screamed about the ceremony’s hottest races (“Dinklage versus Patinkin!”), and pushed someone who didn’t want to talk about Judging Amy aside.

Amy Poehler pretends to be Pitbull on 'Billy on the Street' -- VIDEO

This week’s big Billy on the Street takeaway? If you see someone in a Pitbull mask, chase after them. It might be Amy Poehler!

Poehler recently stopped by Billy Eichner’s show, and a preview clip released on Funny or Die this morning shows the Parks and Rec star in a Pitbull mask, running up to innocent bystanders before revealing something even better than the “Timber” rapper: Her own face.

The best part, as always with these videos, are people’s reactions, from normal excitement to blasé acknowledgment. (Also, that moment when Billy mistakes a lady for a dude.) Side note: What is with all these people not having seen Parks and Rec? DO THEY KNOW WHAT THEY’RE MISSING? EICHNER HAS A RECURRING ROLE ON THAT PROGRAM.

Billy Eichner pimps out Paul Rudd for a dollar -- VIDEO

Paul-Rudd-and-Billy-Eichner.jpg

Billy Eichner is one of New York’s finest reverse-pimps. In the next episode of Billy on the Street, he drags Paul Rudd through Manhattan and offers random strangers $1 to have sex with the adorable, ageless wonder. Don’t get too excited, pervs. This is hypothetical sex — you know, the worst kind.

Rudd is a good sport, but Eichner, who keeps stealing scenes on Parks and Recreation, is a riot. His boisterous behavior, his prohibition on hugs and haggling, and his unending commentary make this segment one of his show’s best ever.
