James Franco visits 'Between Two Ferns,' interrupted by new Lonely Island song -- VIDEO

Between Two Ferns, Zach Galifianakis’ Funny or Die talk show, is known for getting a little weird. So it certainly wasn’t a surprise when James Franco dropped by and things took an odd turn. Galifianakis started by asking him some standard insulting questions. “Of all the art projects you’ve done, what has made people roll their eyes the hardest?” “127 Hours — is that how many hours you look in the mirror per day?” Franco played along with his trademark low-energy that was most famously on display at the Oscars (which he did in fact host, despite what Galifianakis says).

But after belittling Franco for a few minutes, the chat was interrupted by the Lonely Island guys, who’ve got a new song to drop (featuring Franco). It’s about spring breakkkkk — but also marriage equality. Two things that naturally go together, provided you don’t think about it too hard. Plus, Edward Norton!

'Between Two Ferns' Oscar Special: Things get weird with Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway, and more -- VIDEO

Zach Galifianakis’ interview series “Between Two Ferns”  just got super-duper star-studded!

Highlights: Anne Hathaway sings “Best Thing I Never Had” by Beyoncé, Jennifer Lawrence does not like getting played off, Christoph Waltz wants to avoid talking about his Mein Kampf tattoo, and Amy Adams says a pretty NSFW line with great conviction.

'Between Two Ferns' goes big time: Zach Galifianakis jousts with Tina Fey and Jon Stewart

For fans of Between Two Ferns, the hilarious bite-sized webisodes in which a passive-aggressive version of Zach Galifianakis awkwardly interviews quickly chagrined celebrities, the promise of a full-length television episode threatened to be almost too much of a good thing. Would Comedy Central, which aired the special last night before The Comedy Awards, ruin the low-rent vibe of the show by throwing millions of Viacom dollars at the funnyman? And could the show hold up over the course of a half hour, rather than the quick four-minute hits that have so delighted you during your lunch break.

Have no fear, Ferners. Though Galifianakis sported a tuxedo and a new high-rise set, and modeled the show after one of Oprah or Barbara Walters’ pre-Oscar specials to celebrate “entertainment’s biggest night, the second annual Comedy Awards,” Between Two Ferns: A Fairytale of New York was as antagonistic and hilarious as ever. Watch the clip of his interview with “absentee mother” Tina Fey below, as well as bits of his time with Jon Stewart and Sir Richard Branson: READ FULL STORY »
