Drink tequila with George Clooney -- and 22 other celebrities in the business of booze

Have you ever wanted to share a bottle of tequila with George Clooney until he got so drunk that he mistakenly thought you were Stacy Keibler? OK, so we can’t really help you out with the second half of that scenario, but the first half is suddenly much more plausible thanks to Clooney’s latest business venture.

The sexier-with-age movie star is teaming up Rande Gerber to create Casamigos, a new brand of tequila. According to Vanity Fair, Gerber and Clooney will sign every bottle that is made, number it and even taste it themselves (aka you’re sharing a drink with George Clooney … get it?). But as delicious and tempting as it all sounds, we always imagined that Clooney was more of a scotch neat kind of guy.

But Clooney isn’t the first celebrity to surprise us with his taste in alcohol, and we’re sure he won’t be the last. Here’s a rundown of some celebrities who have given the business of booze a try. Who matches up best with his or her drink of choice?

Sofia Vergara is highest-paid TV actress, followed by Kardashians and Desperate Housewives

Forbes’ recently released list of top-paid movie actresses reflected Kristen Stewart’s secure foothold in modern pop culture. Now the business magazine has unveiled the list of TV actresses who earned the most between May 2011 and May 2012, and seems if you follow the money in TV land, it leads straight to funny gals and reality stars, with some housewives peppered in here and there.

Modern Family star Sofia Vergara tops the list with $19 million. Anyone who’s seen the Colombia native’s ubiquitous Kmart or Cover Girl ads knows that she’s also doing pretty well for herself with all those endorsement deals.

All four stars of Desperate Housewives, which concluded its series on ABC this May, made the list: Eva Longoria, followed by Felicity Huffman, Teri Hatcher, and Marcia Cross.

Reality TV has become even more of a major money-maker over the past year. With a wedding special watched by over 10 million people and continuing ratings success for Keeping Up with the Kardashians following the end of her 72-day-long marriage, reality star Kim Kardashian settled in at No. 2 on the list. Not far behind is her sister, Khloe. Last year they didn’t even make the top 10. Also new to the list this year is Bravo favorite and Skinny Girl entrepreneur Bethenny Frankel.

There are some familiar faces among this group, like Marg Helgenberger, whose 12-year-long run on CSI has kept her on the list for many years. Then there are rising stars like Zooey Deschanel, who has become a new comedy force to be reckoned with on Fox’s New Girl.

Last year’s list was topped with a tie between Eva Longoria and Tina Fey. The actresses come in third and fifth, respectively, this year. Check out the entire list below: READ FULL STORY »

Bethenny Frankel wrapped her seventh season on reality TV last Monday and is currently preparing to plant her flag to the talk-show circuit next Monday. Bethenny is just the latest venture in a mushrooming empire that includes liquor, fashion, and nutrition lines, as well as best-selling fiction and nonfiction books. How did Frankel leverage her exposure on reality — a format that is generally considered flash-in-the-pan and credibility-sinking — to earn hundreds of millions of dollars? Could she have done it on her own? EW reached out to business and marketing experts, as well as reality TV vets, to discover what it is that has taken Frankel from practically penniless to the Skinnygirl. READ FULL STORY »

Betty White roast: Superlatives for the most super ninetysomething of all (sorry, Abe Vigoda!)

Betty White’s roast this afternoon was handled with more delicacy than most. After all, America’s adopted grandmother is 90 years old. That said, she’s still intimidating, considering her boundless energy and eighth-decade career resurgence. Indeed, even Uggie from The Artist showed signs of stage fright during an interview with roastmaster Barbara Walters. From the red carpet to the roasting dais, the stars mostly kept it clean for the beatific blonde, but never fear, PopWatchers. I’ll skip the sanitized bits and get right to the good stuff. Click through to find out who was best, worst, and most surprising at White’s roast. READ FULL STORY »

Bethenny Frankel reveals she suffered miscarriage on 'Today'

Bethenny Frankel might have been appearing on Today to promote season 3 of Bethenny Ever After…, but the conversation took a somber turn when Savannah Guthrie asked the reality TV star-slash-businesswoman whether she’s considered having another child to join her 21-month-old daughter Bryn. “It’s a very personal question,” Frankel told Guthrie. “We were pregnant with a second baby, and at eight weeks, I miscarried.”

An emotional Frankel went on to tell Guthrie that the experience — which, Frankel said, did not happen during the taping of the show — made her feel extreme sympathy for women who suffer from infertility. So much sympathy, that she hasn’t even had the chance to turn her thoughts back to whether or not she and husband Jason Hoppy will try for another child again. “I’m not really thinking about it,” she said. “Until you become a woman you don’t know the things that come with being a woman. And I’m 41, and I don’t know. It’s not really my choice. It’s not really my option. The window’s closing.”

Watch the video of the interview — during which Frankel also talks about a burning a hole in her esophagus from taking an antibiotic — embedded the jump.  READ FULL STORY »
