I hope all of you enjoyed a nice long Labor Day weekend. I’m happy to see that once again you were kind enough to make sure part of that extended weekend included your usual Monday night appointment with all of us at Bachelor Pad. Before I left the mansion after last week’s rose ceremony, I informed everybody that from now on they would be competing as a couple and would be voted off as a couple. 'Bachelor Pad' episode 5: 'I brought some, like, very sexy lingerie'

You’ve got to hand it to Erica — the girl’s got a lot of confidence. If you’ve seen tonight’s episode of Bachelor Pad (and SPOILER ALERT if you haven’t) then you know what I’m talking about. I find her near-delusional level of faith in herself endearing, and I, for one, would totally watch her as the Bachelorette. (Can you imagine? Dare to dream.) Anyhow, tonight’s episode had its share of choice moments, including Erica’s extremely awkward attempt at seducing Blake, and Kasey and Vienna’s fight about his extremely awkward attempt at seducing her. (Oh, the horrors that night vision camera has seen!) And we’re just one week away from the finale — will the other contestants finally rise up and overthrow King Kasey, or will he and his low-libidoed queen continue their stampede to the finish line? Before we start talking Bachelor Pad, I just want to say the Bachelor family is thinking about those affected by the hurricane this weekend. Our “Bachelor Gives Back” crew is already thinking of ways to help. Now let’s talk about this week’s dramatic Bachelor Pad episode. We started with the exit of Jake. He left the contestants with some very good advice: If you have any thoughts of winning this thing you have to vote out the power couples. Kasey survived the closest vote yet and as he put it, he feels he is the strongest “strategist” in the house. 'Bachelor Pad' episode 4: 'I don't even speak to her and I feel like she drains the life out of me'

Shocker! The quote above does not, in fact, refer to Vienna. But I think those of you who’ve seen tonight’s episode of Bachelor Pad (and SPOILER ALERT if you haven’t) know exactly who Graham was referring to. It was an emotional night, rose lovers, and not just because Princess Crazytears went off on her supposed “partner” yet again. If you’re like me, you found yourself tearing up a bit during Michael and Holly’s heartbreaking heart-to-heart on the couch. (Let her go, Stag! You can do better!) As for the eliminations? Yeah, well… no real surprises there. Can’t wait until the “power couples” have to start turning on each other. I truly hope all of you are singing “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” in your head while reading this blog. Why on earth it’s taken us ten years to get Bret Michaels to come on our show and sing that song is beyond me. The good news is it finally happened, and all seems right with the universe. 'Bachelor Pad' episode 3: 'You smell that? That's so disgusting.'

Pop quiz, rose lovers: If you haven’t seen tonight’s episode of Bachelor Pad (and why are you reading this if that’s the case?) please see if you can guess what caused the horrible stench described in the above quote:

A) Jake’s cologne, Fame Whore.

B) The Pad’s hot tub, before or after a cleaning.

C) The otherwise lovely horses who had the extreme misfortune to be employed during a horseback riding group date Vienna attended.

You’ll have to read my recap for the answer (UPDATE: Click for Kristen’s full Bachelor Pad episode 3 recap), but if you’ve seen tonight’s episode, riddle me this: Will anyone be brave enough to take on the power couples? If tonight’s elimination is any indication, the answer is: Not anytime soon. So who to root for? (Besides Stag, who probably has no chance.) Do you have a favorite? Or a least least favorite? And who did you think looked the best in his speedo? (My vote, as always, is Michael Phelps.)

After week one’s epic three-hour event, week two started off with the same gusto. With things changing so much the competitions have become huge this season. The only safe place to be sitting during elimination is with a rose. This week’s competition was rough to watch. Okay, with that out of the way, rose lovers, let us discuss tonight’s roller-coaster episode of Bachelor Pad. (SPOILER ALERT if you haven’t seen it.) That was one fantastically humiliating challenge, was it not? And what a romantic ending! And I’m not even being facetious (much)! When I was told who would be moving into Bachelor Pad this season I had high expectations. Those expectations didn’t come close to the drama and excitement that will unfold over the next six weeks. I remember sitting in the control room that very first night and someone jokingly said, “This is so good we’re going to need a three hour premiere.” We all laughed because in this day and age of ADD, channel-surfing viewers there’s no such thing as a three-hour show. Turns out that little joke became a reality. We had so much to show you this first week it had to be three hours — just think about what we have to show you when things really get good! Oh, it’s a challenge all right, but sex really didn’t have anything to do with it. How are you holding up, rose lovers?
