Meet Mimi Haist, the woman Zach Galifianakis saved from homelessness -- VIDEO

Need a feel-good story to break up the flood of horrifying tornado news? This should do the trick: Zach Galifianakis’s date to yesterday’s premiere of The Hangover Part III was Elizabeth “Mimi” Haist, a formerly homeless octogenarian whom the comedian has been helping to support for the past two years.

Galifianakis first met 87-year-old Haist nearly 20 years ago — long before he was famous. According to the Daily News, she worked at his local laundromat, and over time, the two struck up a friendship. After the massive success of The Hangover in 2009, Galifianakis stopped going to the laundromat — “Maybe he has his own washer and dryer now,” Haist told the Daily News — but he never forgot about Mimi.

And when Galifianakis learned in 2011 that Haist had slipped into homelessness, he found her a one-bedroom apartment and began paying for her rent and utilities. The star also enlisted his friend Renee Zellweger to furnish Haist’s new apartment and buy her groceries.

Molly Shannon and Jimmy Fallon giggle and reminisce on 'Late Night' -- VIDEO

Can former SNL stars appear on Late Night every night? Host Jimmy Fallon is rarely better than when he’s gabbing with one of his old castmates about life at the sketch show — which sounds sort of like a giant, extended sleepover party for adults.

Case in point: Molly Shannon dropped by yesterday, ostensibly to talk about her children’s book (Tilly the Trickster, which looks pretty dang cute) and her guest spot on HBO’s Enlightened. But in the end, the plugs seemed sort of beside the point. Fallon and Shannon — whom he calls “pals” — mostly just spent 10 minutes gabbing about the dumb things they used to do to amuse each other during their SNL days. Watching the interview is sort of like eavesdropping on a private conversation, but not in a creepy way. Be still our teenage hearts: Blair Waldorf and Seth Cohen are dating!

It’s a match made in fan fiction heaven!

According to Us Weekly, Leighton Meester and Adam Brody — the brunet[te] stars of Josh Schwartz’s teen drama hits Gossip Girl and The O.C., respectively — have been “secretly dating for weeks.” The news was confirmed by People this afternoon; although reps for Brody and Meester aren’t talking, sources say that the actors are, in fact, an item. Excuse me while I stifle a squeal.

This is even better than that list of on-screen couples we’d like to see dating in real life. Sure, Blair and Chuck were meant for each other… but it was always a little tough to get over the fact that he once sold her for a hotel. (Not that that’s a thing one can actually do, but, well, you know.) And as adorable as Seth and Summer were on The O.C., Cohen could probably benefit from the once and future Queen B’s tough love.

Ellen responds to 'SNL' spoof: 'I didn't like it. Just kidding, I like everything!' -- VIDEO

Ten points for self-awareness! Ellen DeGeneres was predictably gracious earlier this week when she addressed Saturday Night Live‘s recent spoof of her show, complimenting her impersonator Kate McKinnon and even imitating McKinnon’s imitation: “I didn’t like it. I’m just kidding, I’m Ellen! I like everything!” It’s nice-ception! Then again, it’s not like there was much in that sketch that DeGeneres could object to; “Ellen is genial and dances a lot” isn’t exactly incendiary.

Ellen also discussed the SNL bit with two of her guests, pint-sized Nicki Minaj fan Sophia Grace and her “hype girl” Rosie — both of whom were also lampooned on the sketch show. Hammy Sophia said that she thought Saturday Night Live‘s sendup of her was “brilliant,” though it would have been even “bettah” — don’t you love kids with British accents? — if impressionists Nasim Pedrad and Vanessa Bayer had shrunk a little. And for once, reticent Rosie had something to add to the conversation: “If she [Pedrad] wants to get like me, she should get more dahnces.”

Long before a movie about a certain cartoon clownfish hit theaters, pop culture’s most famous kid named Nemo was the protagonist of Little Nemo in Slumberland. Winsor McCay’s whimsical comic strip delighted early 20th-century newspaper readers for nine years, transcending its humble setting and influencing a generation of artists — including Maurice Sendak and Alan Moore. 'The New Normal' episode 3: Everyone's a bigot

They look happy to your right because this trio’s baby has a heartbeat — huzzah! — but the bulk of “Baby Clothes” involved aggression and tears. You see, everyone in this crazy mixed-up world is different, and so they hate each other.

In tonight’s third episode of The New Normal — brought to you by Pinkberry, Marc Jacobs, Dolce and Gabbana, and Equinox — Bryan and David run into a bigot in an outlet mall. This bigot is a great big terror in a polo shirt who asks them to stop kissing (in the interest of “trying to protect my family”) and calls the idea of Bryan and David having a baby “disgusting.” Bryan and David head home to have a heart-to-heart about bringing a baby into “a world where idiot people are trained to hate what we do.” There are tears, and it is dire. No one wants their family members to suffer, but how can kids be protected when hate is all around? READ FULL STORY »

'Scandal': Allyson Felix attempts to 'run' the show

Terrible pun! This is really cute: Allyson Felix, who won the women’s 200m dash at the London Olympics (sniff!), mentioned in interviews that during her down time before racing, she’d been marathoning — a.k.a. watching the entire first season of ABC’s Scandal! Creator Shonda Rhimes immediately invited the smiley sprinter to visit the set. Looks like she fits in perfectly. Vote Felix/Jeter in 2012!

This adorable working Wall-E replica -- and its creator -- are our new heroes

Here’s something you won’t find at your local Buy N Large. Computer programmer Mike Senna recently unveiled a life-sized, working Wall-E replica that can trundle around on its treads, wave both hands, raise its eyebrows, and — of course — warble its own name. Senna has spent a staggering two and a half years on this project, toiling for about 25 hours each week while holding down a full-time job at a biometrics company in Orange County. Though Senna has some experience bringing beloved pop culture bots to life — he completed a similar R2D2 replica in ’03 — Wall-E presented a unique set of challenges.

For starters: The robot “changes size during the film,” Senna tells EW, which made its dimensions difficult to determine. Without real-life schematics or prototypes, Senna had nothing but screen shots from Pixar’s movie to guide him. Senna also had to custom create nearly every one of Wall-E’s parts, although he did luck out by finding a perfect pair of eyes at Home Depot. The builder wanted his creation to be able to convey emotions — just like the “real” Wall-E — so he spent the lion’s share of his time building its head.

All that effort paid off: The larger-than-life Wall-E that roams around Disneyland has immobile eyes, but Senna’s 3.4-foot-replica features peepers that can move. READ FULL STORY »

Barack and Michelle Obama smooch on the Kiss Cam -- WATCH

Nothing like a little peer pressure to push the POTUS into some PDA.

Barack and Michelle Obama were at an exhibition basketball game between the U.S. and Brazil on Monday night, and their court-side presence did not go unnoticed by the crowd or the Kiss Cam, which zoomed in expecting a smooch.

Michelle wasn’t so hot on the idea, though. She took one look at the scoreboard screen and shook her head, much to the disappointment of the crowd, which you can hear “boo” and “aww” about the lack of JumboTron affection. Who can blame them for wanting to witness a little presidential romance?

But nobody, not even the First Couple, is too good for the Kiss Cam. So when the cameras tried again later — and after some helpful prodding from daughter Malia, seated next to Vice President Joe Biden — the Obamas delivered. Watch the video below:

Lena Dunham reveals 'Freaky' teen crush on Jimmy Fallon -- VIDEO

Girls star Lena Dunham made her Late Night With Jimmy Fallon debut last night and immediately word-vomited about her high school obsession with Fallon. From keeping a signed napkin to savoring a chance encounter at a party, girl had it bad. It was obvious this confession wasn’t Dunham thinking, “Hey, this will be a hilarious story to tell on TV!” so much as a compulsive purging of her deepest truths. (No judgment, girl, we’ve all been there.)
