'Divergent' fun: Which faction would Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lawrence and more celebs be placed in?

Divergent superfans, this one is for you. At the beginning of setting up this dystopian adventure, readers learn that all the people living in this world are sorted into five different factions when they come of age. An aptitude test helps place them, but the final decision is theirs (sounds wonderfully familiar, right?). While Beatrice, Caleb and all the rest had a tough decision to make, we got to thinking about where some Hollywood celebs would find themselves if they suddenly woke up in this world. Here are our best guesses for Jennifer Lawrence (Honest!), Lady Gaga (Brave!) and more.

Abnegation (the Selfless)

Angelina Jolie: Sure, she’s got her detractors, but she’s still one of Hollwood’s most famous do-gooders. The actress has traveled to Cambodia, Sierra Leone and many, many other places to speak and help with her main cause: refugees. She’s even a Goodwill Ambassador who has none other than Hillary Clinton as an admirer. READ FULL STORY »

Golden Globe hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on Angelina Jolie, 'Avatar,' photo bombing -- VIDEO

As if we needed further proof that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are the best at everything and should always be talking on our TVs always always. The upcoming hosts of the 70th Annual Golden Globe awards took the time out of their day being witty whilst wearing gorgeous gowns to discuss their impending job, photobombing Harrison Ford, hating everyone, and who they think will win the award for “Best Actress in a mini-musical or major documentary.” (It’s a shocker!) Check it out below: READ FULL STORY »

Cate, Angelina, Charlize -- Why Oscar winners know 'Evil Queen' is the way to go

Win an Oscar, become evil?

That seems to be the new trend with the news that Cate Blanchett may be playing the Evil Stepmother in a Cinderella remake. She joins Angelina Jolie, who will be portraying Maleficent in an upcoming Sleeping Beauty film, and Charlize Theron and Julia Roberts, who this year both starred as the Evil Queen in Snow White movies

It’s tempting to say that this is a sad commentary on the roles for 35-plus women in Hollywood who can no longer play “The Girlfriend.” As Tina Fey wrote, “The definition of ‘crazy’ in show business is a woman who keeps talking even after no one wants to f— her anymore,” but while Fey definitely has a point about Hollywood, I don’t think ageism is on display here. These women are still getting complex roles post-Oscar — Theron’s Young Adult, Jolie’s A Mighty Heart — but when a big-budget fairy tale comes knocking, it’s the villain — never the princess — that is the most fascinating and delicious role to play. If we’re going to rally around a cause about women in Hollywood — and there are plenty of issues about women’s opportunities and portrayals on screen — this isn’t the one.

Kids might grow up dreaming of golden-voiced maidens and courageous princes, but adults come to appreciate that the villains are often the most interesting people in the story. Power, intrigue, cunning: What’s not to love? READ FULL STORY »

Prepare thyselves: A Brangelina wedding is 'nigh,' says Brad Pitt

Soothsaying powers and scraggly wizard hair must be a packaged deal. At last night’s Killing Them Softly premiere, Brad Pitt revealed to People that his wedding to Angelina Jolie is on the horizon: “The time is nigh. It’s soon. I got a good feeling about it,” he prophesized, gazing off at a future that only he could see. In the distance, a raven crowed.

Really, though, Pitt says that the couple’s international brood — a cookie to anyone who can name all six Brangelina spawn without Googling! — are the main reason that the wedding is imminent. “I am getting more pressure from my kids, and it is something I want to do within their lifetime,” he said at the premiere. “We’ve had a family, we’ve raised the kids. I am surprised how much [marriage] meant to me once you had that.” Clearly, Molly and Arthur Weasley will be Brangelina’s marriage role models.

Julie Bowen on seeing Angelina Jolie: 'She's like a unicorn'

Julie-Bowen.jpg

Angelina Jolie has been called many things, but Modern Family actress Julie Bowen went in a different direction when she called the Oscar-winning actress (who moonlights as a meme-ready wax figure) a unicorn.

“If I see Angelina Jolie, I have to look away … She’s like a unicorn,” Bowen said in an interview with Health. “It’s like, ‘There’s Angelina Jolie. We’re not going to seriously stand here and pretend it’s not like seeing a yeti, right?”

Stars! They’re just like us: Reduced to awkwardly staring at the pseudo-mythical creature in the room.

But maybe the two can bond over their beauty regimens (That’s all Hollywood stars talk about, right?) “I do find it odd people choose to do stuff that makes them look like crazy Hollywood faces, but I’ve got zero judgment,” Bowen said. “I’ve worn some ugly shoes.”

As long as they don’t get in the way of showing off a leg, we’re guessing Jolie is onboard.

Scent of a man: Brad Pitt is Chanel No. 5's new face

Brad-Pitt

Admit it: We’ve all wondered at some point what Brad Pitt smells like. A rugged, masculine melange of sandalwood, cinnamon, and freshly trimmed beard? An intoxicating cocktail of True Romance and 12 Monkeys? A faint whisper of whatever Angelina Jolie happens to be wearing? A weird old man baby?

Thankfully, this burning question has just been answered. E! revealed today that the Oscar nominee has signed on as the new face of Chanel No. 5 — a classic scent beloved by the world’s glitterati since the 1920s. (Marilyn Monroe allegedly claimed once that she wore only a few drops of Chanel No. 5 to bed.) Though reps for Pitt and Chanel aren’t commenting yet, E! says the star will film an ad for the fragrance in London this week and net a seven-figure paycheck for his trouble. That’ll buy a man a lot of perfume.

Outspoken Oscar winner George Clooney recently sat down with The Advocate to discuss his appearance in a staged reading of Academy Award-winning Milk scribe Dustin Lance Black’s Prop 8 play, 8. Bill O'Reilly on Angelina Jolie's figure: 'Is it just me, or is she looking mighty slim these days?' -- VIDEO

It wouldn’t be a Tuesday (or Wednesday…or Thursday…or Friday…) morning without a clip of Bill O’Reilly saying something in that special Bill O’Reilly way. This particular Tuesday, it’s a snippet of the Fox News pundit addressing Angelina Jolie‘s figure (but inexplicably, not her much-discussed leg) which was on display at the Oscars on Sunday.

“Is it just me, or is she looking mighty slim these days? Emaciated even?” O’Reilly pondered, while showing footage of Jolie at the Academy Awards. He continued, “I was kind of taken aback. Look at the arms on her! Once again the media largely ignoring Ms. Jolie’s physical profile, but she is a role model for some women. Something’s going on here. I mean, she is slight. Let’s hope it’s nothing unusual.”

You knew it was coming: Angelina Jolie's leg launches Twitter feed, online memes aplenty

A star is born! It’s not Oscar-winning Descendants screenwriter Jim Rash, but he was the prophet who ushered in the latest (and leggiest) meme of 2012. The Community star was the first to pay homage to fellow nominee Angelina Jolie, who took no small amount of delight in showing off her exposed right gam (thanks to a velvet Atelier Versace gown) at last night’s 84th Annual Academy Awards. Following Rash’s lead, slew of Inter-nutters have joined the chorus of approval and/or mockery for Jolie’s sartorial statement. READ FULL STORY »
