Upon reading the news that Britain’s Got Talent winners Ashleigh and Pudsey will appear on the July 18 results episode of America’s Got Talent, I needed to see what all the fuss was about. Was the dog really the “next Susan Boyle,” as The New York Post claimed?

Which shows are 'exploding' in social media? Do you 'explode' onto social media while you watch TV?

I hope you’re not hurting yourself! A new study (DON’T FALL ASLEEP) suggests that social activity surrounding broadcast prime-time this April topped its level a year earlier by 194 percent. That means a whole lotta people were heading over to The Voice‘s “Sprint Lounge with Christina Milian” instead of heading over to the fridge for a snack.

You can read more about the numbers here, but I’m interested in reactions from those of you who never use social media at all. READ FULL STORY »

'America's Got Talent': Iran's Got Balance

Sometimes you watch something so bizarre and unbelievable that even though you never could have predicted it, you can no longer imagine life without it. Occasionally — I mean, don’t ever count on this happening again, but sure, it’s possible — this magical moment occurs during America’s Got Talent.

Have you ever wondered how a blend of Ben Kingsley, Howie Mandel, and the TV version of John Locke would look just on the brink of a skull explosion? Behold the Bandbaz Brothers’ balancing act… READ FULL STORY »

Howard Stern nearly throws in the towel after making a child cry -- VIDEO

Howard Stern had barely broken the seal on his new gig as a judge on America’s Got Talent before he threatened to quit. On last night’s broadcast, Stern couldn’t possibly deny how adorable 7-year-old aspiring rapper Mir Money was. What he could deny was the pint-sized Philadelphian’s talent. And so he did.

Moments after Stern lit up the dreaded “X” of rejection, followed by Sharon Osbourne, Money struggled to hold in his disappointment. He cracked during Stern’s comments, and the shock-jock hurried to the stage to console the little guy while the crowd booed. But Money wasn’t the only one trying to hide his emotions. “This job is too rough for me, I don’t really wanna do it anymore,” admitted Stern. He continued to be upset as he walked backstage, saying, “I’m not cut out for this, man. I’m shaking. I can’t do it, man. I can’t do it.” Watch the clip below. READ FULL STORY »

Demi Lovato must be in la la land now that she and Britney Spears have joined the X Factor circus as judges for next season. The new stars will join music industry veterans L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell on the panel for the show’s second season, but are they shaping up to be the hottest crew to give their critiques on TV? Simon seems smitten with the pair of pop princesses, tweeting: “Can’t believe it’s finally happened. Very exciting! @thexfactorusa #xfactor #SimonBritneyDemiLa.”

Will Howard Stern give Simon a run for his money on FCC-friendly insults when he starts judging America’s Got Talent? And will Britney edge out Jennifer Lopez with saccharin-sweet compliments, or will her wild side get the best of her? Take our poll and let us know who’s the fairest judging panel of them all!

PopWatch Planner: Farewell Wisteria Lane, hello Howard Stern

Parting is such sweet sorrow, and this week witnesses so many television season finales — including Desperate Housewives‘ huge series finale — that dedicated fans will be looking for ways to fill the void. (Except hardcore gamers, who can likely ignore every suggestion after Tuesday’s release of Diablo III.) But there’s plenty of entertainment to lift your spirits: Howard Stern is loose on the airwaves again, a horrible dictator is dealt some New York justice, and your favorite sitcom couple will cap the week, hopefully on a high note.

SUNDAY
Desperate Housewives series finale, ABC, 9 p.m.

After eight seasons of soapy plotlines that took great joy in killing off characters in the most unusual ways, it’s safe to expect that the last tour of Wisteria Lane will find someone cold. But this final season has been anything but, as the show has been rejuvenated after several seasons of melodramatic hokum. As the Queen song goes, “Another One Bites the Dust,” but Housewives is saying its farewell in style. READ FULL STORY »

Howard Stern's preening 'Today' and 'Late Night' interviews: 'People adore me' -- VIDEO

Howard Stern knows what you think about him becoming a judge on America’s Got Talent — and that’s because he thinks it too. “What a crazy idea to put me on a family show!” he told Matt Lauer jovially on Today this morning. “Somebody at NBC should be fired for that, right?”

But in between reveling in his own controversial nature, ribbing Lauer — at one point he suggested the Today anchor was on crack — and lobbing barbed quips (“I liked when Al Roker was fat better. It’s like, put a pin in him!”), Stern proved that he might just be what reality television needs.

“You know, I watch American Idol sometimes, and those three judges, they don’t have a word of criticism,” Stern told Lauer. “And I think that’s selfish. I think you owe it to the contestants to offer criticism.”

Stern promised to be both compassionate and honest on the talent competition — sort of like a slightly more approachable Simon Cowell. And if his judging persona is anything like his Today interview persona, this season of AGT could very well be must-see TV. Check out Stern’s chat with Lauer below. READ FULL STORY »

Sharon Osbourne attacks Simon Cowell on 'The Talk' -- VIDEO

Sharon Osbourne had some choice words for Simon Cowell on the April 17th episode of The Talk. Addressing reports that a new biography about Cowell says Osbourne left her position as mentor on the U.K. edition of The X Factor because she was angry over Cowell’s relationship with fellow judge Dannii Minogue, Osbourne snapped, ”I’m, like, pissed off because you’ve got a whole career to talk about. … Why bring Mrs. O into your messing around?”

Though she admitted she did not like Minogue, Osbourne insisted Cowell’s romantic entanglements had no bearing on her decision to quit The X Factor. She also put forward a couple of theories about the misinformation. First, she said Cowell “likes to glamorize, he likes the publicity, he likes the attention.” She noted, “The thing is, nobody leaves Simon — he fires you.” Then Osbourne, who currently judges on the Cowell-produced America’s Got Talent, laughed, “He’ll probably fire me now.”

As for her final theory about Cowell (whose reps offered no comment)… well, you’ll have to watch the clip for that. Hint: It involves the indictment, “He has everything — but you can’t buy the goods!” Find out what those “goods” are below. READ FULL STORY »

'American Idol': Deandre Brackensick, Jessica Sanchez early frontrunners for hairography, cuteness

And they may look familiar! We remember silly vanilli Deandre Brackensick, 17, from last season of American Idol. The judges brutally cut him on the Green Mile after Hollywood Week, but not before we were treated to plenty of loving zoom-ins on his exquisite face and hair. In a way, all of us had won. Except Deandre.

Jessica Sanchez, 16, appeared on the first season of America’s Got Talent when she was just 11. These crazy kids!

They can both still wail even in their old age. The hair pair sang “It Doesn’t Matter Anymore” with Candice Glover on tonight’s Las Vegas show. Watch that standout performance — and evidence of Deandre and Jessica’s former near-stardom — here.  READ FULL STORY »
