'The Secret Life of the American Teenager' premiere recap: Here comes the bride

Categories: 'The Secret Life of the American Teenager', Mini TV Watch, Television

Americanteenagerpremiere_l Last night was the season 2 premiere of my favorite show I inexplicably watch every week even though I'm not sure if I like or not -- The Secret Life of the American Teenager, where every character acts like a 15-year-old, regardless of age (I'm looking at you, parental figures), and every minute plot point is explained in full detail by the characters while it's happening. Let's not waste any time chuckling at the fact that the show's appropriately sponsored by Clean & Clear and get down to business -- the two major revelations from last night's episode.

First, Amy's mom dropped the bomb that she won't take care of her grandchild 24/7 when it arrives in three months, and Amy didn't take it too well. Taking care of the child you bear? A concept only shocking to a 15-year-old. I was shocked because I'm pretty sure child-rearing is in the whole ''parental responsibility'' contract you automatically sign when you have a child. Not to mention it was one of the things I thought Amy was taking into consideration during oh, you know, the entire first season, when she debated over keeping the child or not. Though I do appreciate the writers for harping on this point (if a little too obviously), because having your parents' help is something many teen parents take for granted.

Amy reacted to the news the only way she knew how -- by accepting her boyfriend's ridiculous marriage proposal (seems honorable when faced with a pregnant girlfriend, but I just think it's weird seeing as Ben isn't the father). I know Amy was upset because she felt abandoned by her mother, but she should know that no one's ever abandoned on a Brenda Hampton show! (Just call up the Camdens; they'll take you in.) Getting married seems like a gross overreaction to a fact you really should have considered a couple of months ago.

The best suspended-reality TV-show moment of the night, after the jump.

The second revelation of the night came in the form of a wedding. Amy and Ben ACTUALLY got married. In a chapel and everything. I'll be surprised if the union is legally binding, however, since all parties involved (guests, bridesmaids, and witnesses included) are under 18. Which leads us to the best suspended-reality TV-show moment of the night: the fact that Amy, Ben, and all their friends had to get fake IDs for the wedding, which were made IN THE SCHOOL by using a big cutout of a fake-looking Nevada driver's license, something I didn't realize existed outside the realm of Freaks and Geeks. (Kids these days. Haven't they heard of finding someone's older sibling who looks kinda like you?)

Last night's side plots included Amy's dad moving into the family garage instead of finding his own apartment (pretty humorous, actually), Adrian possibly switching schools, Amy's sister talking in an insufferable monotone (oh wait, that's every week), and Grace's brother getting a date who wasn't an Internet prostitute.

What did you folks think of the premiere? Does the season look promising? Do you find Amy's dad as smarmy and sexist as I do? Do you think the wedding will turn out to be a not-so-legal union? And how did Amy's friends find such cute matching bridesmaid dresses so fast?

Okay I watch this show because its entertaining and It keeps me hanging, like what is gonna happen next kind of deal? Its pretty pointless though. To me, I think this show isn't really a big help on trying to encourage young teens to have sex. Seriously. Yeah maybe some parts. But really all its doing is showing Adriane having sex with all these guys and it kind of makes you feel that its all okay to do that. And its just not real at all. Not in these kind of problems that would occur. But hey, there trying their best and heck I just want to see whats gonna happen? I just want to see the baby for crying out loud. And I want to see that everything will work out okay between Ricky and Amy, since they are too young!!! There just kids still. But yeah.

TiffyNicole Thu, Mar 5, 2009 at 10:52 PM EST

Okay well I am pregnant at the moment, Im 14..and I do have a boyfriend who is not the father, the father is a self - destructive drug addict. So for all of you who say tht this could not happen please look at a newspaper or read some random pregnant teen's blog online.

raul abarca Fri, Feb 6, 2009 at 11:50 AM EST

that is so true about what you said about, the whole being abandon thing, no one is abandoned and i love this show, ive been watching it since the premiere of the first episode last year, i love it, its great, but it is sad because ben is such a great guy, i mean after all shes been through...but yeah your right...

aj Tue, Jan 27, 2009 at 05:34 PM EST

your the best you make the best shows you have been the best actress and what have you been doing and what are you going to name your baby since it a boy??????????????

LauHA Tue, Jan 20, 2009 at 07:08 PM EST

bring back these recaps! i can't bring myself to watch the show, but i do love to be filled in on the ridiculousness. come back!

Sally Tue, Jan 20, 2009 at 11:56 AM EST

Wow you guys have no life. This show is not that cool to spend your time talking about it and aruging with one another about if it's the best show in the world or if it sucks. You should be out finding the man of dreams or woman whatever. Live for your own drama. Make YOUR OWN baby. DO NOT LIVE YOUR LIFE FOR AMY AND HER BABY!And always remeber ladies and gentleman, live. laugh. love.

DottyAnne Tue, Jan 13, 2009 at 06:43 PM EST

Well, for those of you who think this is crazy, ridiculous, and stupid...get a clue. TEENAGE PREGNANCY IS REAL!!!! There are thousands of girls at this very moment who could justifty right now! It's real, not rare, but COMMON!

laura Tue, Jan 13, 2009 at 05:42 PM EST

Where is the secret life review of this weeks episode?!?!?!

Jill Tue, Jan 13, 2009 at 12:27 PM EST

I can't believe this show is still on the air. Sure, I get that it's TV, but it jumped the shark the first episode with it's contrived dialogue and asinine storylines. Sure, I get that kids get pregnant, jump from partner to partner and screw each other over, but this whole show is like a cheesy dream sequence that leaves you rolling your eyes. And the wedding thing? Please. Of course it wasn't legal. And why does Ricky, Adrienne, blonde weirdo girlfriend and everyone else hang out (aka - the wedding). Sorry - it wouldn't happen that way. Molly Ringwald: I know it's hard for teen actors to keep their career going, but do you really need the paycheck for this joke, honey? Teens: Rent Molly Ringwald's "For Keeps" (late 80s). It is much more realistic. Not completely, but much more on the "yeah, that is closer to real life" end of the spectrum than this joke of a show on ABCFAM. And the guy who knocks her up in For Keeps looks like Ben. Rent it.

I love the show! It's my favorite. Amy is a very smart girl. She just got confused. I love Ben too!! He's the sweetest thing. I can't wait to see what happens with Ricky and Amy. I want him involved because it is his baby, but I don't want them to be together. He's no good for her.

I LOVE THIS SHOW BECAUSE ITS ALMOST REAL. IT SHOWS THAT THE YOUNG KIDS SHOULDNT BE AFRAID TO TALK TO THEIR PERANTS I SAW ALL THE FIRST SESON AND STILL WATCHING THE 2ND SESON

Suzy Mon, Jan 12, 2009 at 10:28 PM EST

I think you guys are reading WAY too far into this... it's just a television show. If it was like real life, no one would watch it. Who wants to see people eating, going online, sleeping, going to the bathroom, etc... Doesn't make for a big hit does it? Haha. Just take the show for what its worth. And my OPINION is that Amy is not ready to be a mother, and if this show wasn't on ABC Family she prolly would've had an abortion. Oh and Ben... creepy! Not that I think Ricky's any better, he sucks too! And Adrienne needs to close those legs already!

Ashley Mon, Jan 12, 2009 at 10:11 PM EST

Recently got into this show right before the second season premiered. I watched the whole 1st season so I'm up to date.

This show is fascinating lol. So much sex talk but interesting

angel Fri, Jan 9, 2009 at 06:29 PM EST

If you were listening to the show the bridesmaids used the dresses from a former wedding. And no Amy should not be with Rickey hes such a sleesey guy. ben is so sweet to take on amy and the baby. Yes I do think that its Amys responsiblities to take care of the baby and not her mother. Maybe she should have waited to get married but they didnt. As far as Rickey there ois no excuses for how he is. I was in foster homes and all that and I didnt do any of that stuff. I turned out a great person. Rickey is a slob.... and thats the end. I cant wait to watch the rest of the season.

Summer B Fri, Jan 9, 2009 at 01:25 PM EST

I honestly think that Amy will get back with Ricky. I have been on Ricky's side the whole time. I know he's a jerk but you have to look at his background, he had a hard childhood and was placed into fostercare. He's dad sexually abused him, that tends to make teens act out by having sex with as many people as possible, that's just how it is. He has his problems, but he's gonna start to see that he wants his child in his life. I've have always thought that Ben was retarded. It all started with wanting to have sex with someone and he picked Amy, then he fell in love!! Yeah right. After the first date, he told her he loved her. It doesn't happen that fast. But anyway, i think Amy will start to see that Ricky is going to change and she'll get back with him. Just like I said from the very first time I seen this show.

matt Fri, Jan 9, 2009 at 01:21 PM EST

yeah that's pretty gay she should be with the baby's dad

sue Fri, Jan 9, 2009 at 11:17 AM EST

I love the show so much

Joann Fri, Jan 9, 2009 at 09:54 AM EST

I hate to admit it, but I do like this show. It's kind of not wanting to look at a train wreck, but you just find yourself staring. Amy's parents are have become caricatures. I must say tho, that Amy's mom does have a point -- she needs to get a job to support her children, ergo Amy needs to get a job to support the baby she decided to keep (considering this show is on ABCFamily -- she never would have had an abortion). Amy has not stopped to think about what it really means to keep this child. She is in "dream" with Ben and Ricky is the "nightmare." The remarkable thing about this show is that Ashley is the voice of reason -- she tells it like it is to her parents, her sister. Got to hand it to her, she is the most worldly character on the show.

Have to admit, I laughed out loud when they were getting the fake ID's at school and were trying to get the mom out of the school. Too funny.

Weddings = Ratings

Watch out for more weddings on this show. Oh, and more sex.

karen Thu, Jan 8, 2009 at 07:28 PM EST

I think ben and amy shouldnt have goten married because know amy doesnt know if she has feelins for ricy

karen Thu, Jan 8, 2009 at 07:27 PM EST

Kat Thu, Jan 8, 2009 at 04:07 PM EST

Dear Writers/Producer of this show:
I watched the marathon and then the premier episode. I was hoping the show would get better instead of perpetuating this odd mush of unrealism and cotton candy. Of course, realism may not be the goal. BTW, is Proactive the ONLY sponsor for this show? jeez...
Instead of giving the main character Amy some brains and maturing savvy, you've made her appear as if she is the most clueless 15-year old on the planet. This is a teen who has internet access, but doesn't know how to terminate a pregnancy or get a test for pregnancy without going to her own doctor, find a clinic (free or otherwise) for either of these type services, to know if she's even had sex, or if the marriage of 15 year olds will be legally recognized in her state. If she didn't know these things, everyone else would have. Too bad for this poor show...Friday Night Lights is so much better.

jabez Thu, Jan 8, 2009 at 01:53 PM EST

Ok, for all those watching this show and commenting that it is soooo unrealistic and "real teens" would "never do or say that"....anyone actually OWN a tv? has anyone EVER actually watched the news? teen pregnancy/marriage happens EVERY DAY, which is sad, but it is still reality. As for the actors and their abilities...one, it's ABC Family, two, it's a drama about teens played by real teens, and finally, how many of us have actually won an academy award? This show has a lot of promise and it is an EXCELLENT venue to prompt open and honest conversations between teens and their parents about sex and the consequences

Mirillie Thu, Jan 8, 2009 at 12:07 PM EST

Pam, Ben is more like Ioan Gruffudd's little brother than Bob Sagget's child. He looks exactly like he did when he played Horatio Hornblower. The resemblance is uncanny. It is the eyes.

granada Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 10:23 PM EST

I don't understand why I watch this show. Only a pregnant teen hopped up on cranked pre-natals would agree to get married to a 15 year old guy who claims to love her. Didn't he want to date her because he wanted sex? I understand that teen puppy love can happen quickly, but this is ridiculous.

...why am I still watching?!

belinda Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 08:52 PM EST

I love this show because I am 23 year's old, and I wished that this show was out for my generation

your mamma Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 04:20 PM EST

this is a tv show... its not real life... just remember that hunny.

Glowbug Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 10:58 AM EST

This show is trying to bring up some good points about consequences of having sex when ---you do not use protection --every child deserves - to be brought up in a loving home. Two 15 year olds are getting married w/o the parents knowledge? Is that even legal? I think the "groom" is probably the sweetest, kindest guy you could ever meet and be 15---its almost as if the teens are more on top of the situation than the parents (even if the parents seem to be well meaning) I like that the "pregnant teen gives a public service spot for each episode---she does a good job portraying a girl in a challenging situation.

amycdot Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 10:04 AM EST

The bridesmaids' dresses were from Madison's father's last wedding (at least that's what I think I heard them say).

guenscia volcy Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 08:53 AM EST

this show is my favorite because demand meets demand

Pam Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 12:03 AM EST

This show had such promise after the first couple episodes and has gone downhill since. The characters are inconsistent and annoying and the actors portraying them are even worse with no chemistry amongst themselves. What happened to Grace's Christian parents being strict and Amy's mother being supportive of her daughter? Why bother giving Adrienne a storyline with a father when all she does is wear too much lip gloss and bop her head around while she is overacting? Ditto for Alice and Henry - who really cares about them? I agree with the person who said it is a train wreck that we just have to watch. By the way, is Ben Bob Saget's real life son? He reminds me so much of Danny Tanner.

matt2 Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 11:57 PM EST

Brenda Hampton is the queen of teen family drama. The best thing about her creative storytelling is that she creates these very realistic worlds an meshes them with unique, unrealistic family dynamics. Just as I would have loved being a Camden on 7th Heaven, I would love being in the mix of all the crazyness going on in this Secret Life series. The stupid award once again goes to ABC. Two of their hottest hits, Secret Life and sci-fi hit, KYLE XY, are on the family channel, when they really belong on the big sister network. Hint: swap out Pushing Daises and Eli Stone to the family network.

jack Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 11:08 PM EST

i reali lik this show but i especcilay like how all the actors are close in age to their roles in the show unlike other show which portarty 16 yrs olds wiht 20 sumthin yr old actors it make more sense in this type of showw

LB Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 10:50 PM EST

i liked the first show to the second season. ya its totally ridiculous and all, but its tv! its supposed to draw you in because its never ever going to happen!
although i was really wondering if anyone knows the name of the song that was played during the previews for last nights episode? like as amy and ben are shown about to walk down the aisle?

Yogi Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 10:24 PM EST

I enjoyed this show last nite more so than Gossip Girl.

Ashlee Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 09:30 PM EST

I'm in high school and I'm addicted to this show! It's almost like the soap operas but in a high school setting. I was surprised to see Amy and Ben actually get married. He's not even the father of the baby. But that just proves how weird this show is. Grace should just leave Rickey alone, because he's no good. On the other hand, she shouldn't leave him alone, because it'll make the show more scandulous. Rickey still like's Adrian and she still likes him. Something will happen between the two of them before the end of the season - atleast I hope.

ann Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 08:22 PM EST

so far this is my favorite show ever and i cant wait till the next episode i have watch every one since the first episode

Bren Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 07:58 PM EST

I spent a week telling my daughter that Amy and Ben couldn't really get married, that it was probably just a dream sequence or something. Boy was I shocked when they actually got married! Of course, that will be over in the next episode, their families will fix that. But I do enjoy the show. I think Amy's dad LOVES to yank his wife's chain with his outrageous comments.

Rory Mcgillymore Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 07:41 PM EST

lol I love how in this show there is teens having sex, but no one would dream of drinking, or smoking pot, which I think (as a teenager) is way more common then teen pregnancy.

40Z Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 07:25 PM EST

I WAS STUCK ON IT !! FOR A FEW HOURS HAHAHA ! I WAS A PREGNANT TEEN , NOW 27 , SINGLE MOTHER OF 2 , SUCCESSFUL AND INDEPENDENT !! SHOO -WHOO! I LOVE THE SHOW !

robert Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 07:24 PM EST

this show is PATHETIC, it is so cheesy with wooden acting and worse writing. They could of made it edgy and realistic and fresh and a actually decent teen tv show because of its rare great theme(teen preganancy) but they went the other route going cheesy and cliche. And talk about rushed! its only been 2 seasons(really one season and another episode because season 2 JUST started) and she is already married. They should of waited till at least half of the first season to decide whether she should keep it or not to keep the suspense going . And to be honest her giving actually birth should be the series finale of at least the season opener of the last season of the show.So they have a whole season to develop her dealing with her born child and it would be perfect if it was the last season to do so. They should of let the series bloom with the stories developing and taking time to grow instead they made it rushed and ruined all the potential this series had!

Kristi in Oregon Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 07:14 PM EST

This show is so campy..it's why I love it so much..but oh lord, when Grace's brother was making out with his date..ugh, that was tacky! Ben is stalkerish and yet I still love him! And Ashley is my favorite, sarcasm is the best!

Zachary Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 06:52 PM EST

This show is amazing

Too Embarrassed to Give My Name Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 06:31 PM EST

I did not watch this show last season, but I got hooked on it during the marathon on Sunday! I love it, but not because it's a good show, because it's not. I love it because it's so ridiculous! Ben cracks me up, but he also creeps me out. It's been a little while since I was in high school, but what teenage guy continues to go out with a girl once he finds out she's pregnant? And what teenage boy's father actually approves of it?! And wants them to get married and live in his house? Ugh, the acting is bad, the actors are bad, and the show is so fake, but I love it!

Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 06:31 PM EST

This episode was kinda ridiculous I mean It's the first episode of the new season and it's like boom! their married. I thought it wasn't that great of an episode overall and I found myself flipping to gossip girl
Plus I thought the ids were kinda strange, I mean happening in school in a real high school someone would defiantly know

secrete mom Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 06:15 PM EST

this is not reality, none of the kids are texting constantly or playing on a gaming system for hours...

zachary Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 05:40 PM EST

I am in High School and I love the show. It is addicting!!!!!!!!!!!!!

kristyn Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 05:33 PM EST

this is like the asome show ever i watch it every week

Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 05:17 PM EST

this show is completely devoid of reality. no highschooler acts like that.

BC Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 05:01 PM EST

No recap of "The City"? Tsk, tsk EW.

christine Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 04:31 PM EST

this show is kinda ridic and has the same flaws in the writing and premise as 7th heaven (shocker) i know i was in high school all of 5 plus years ago, but i can't imagine it changed that much. brenda hampton is out of touch and worse yet, she doesn't realize it. she's that awkward adult who thinks she's hip

Emmy Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 04:29 PM EST

Oops - switch that - Amy's sister said the funny thing. . .

Emmy Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 04:29 PM EST

Oops - switch that - Amy's sister said the funny thing. . .

Emmy Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 04:28 PM EST

To 'PS' - the line your wife laughed so hard at was probably when Amy repeatsback to her sister that their mom won't "TAKE YOUR BABY". She said it in a creepy and hilarious way.

I don't know why I watch this show either. . .but I do.

phs Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 03:20 PM EST

I watch the show with my daughter and last season was great for her to see since she is in junior high (and there are a few in there that had babies last year) but when they got "married" unlawfully last night, that was not something I want her to learn about. Also, why was Ricky at Amy's wedding? How weird! But I cannot wait to see what happens on the next show according to the preview last night!

Emma Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 03:20 PM EST

I love it when Amy was like "I am practically an adult". 15? Really? She is so childish and foolish to think that her mom should take care of Amy's baby while Amy goes and has a life. And she is stupid to think that just because she gets married (which, by the way, would not be binding because they all lied about their ages, and used fake IDs) her problems will go away. She has a lot of growing up to do. If she thinks that having a baby makes you a grown up, she is seriously stupid. having a baby at 15 makes you foolish, not grown up.

To Meg too.. Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 03:17 PM EST

He also played "Mallet" on Guiding Light for years prior to the One Life to Live gig.

Natally Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 03:12 PM EST

i agree with Meg,Ben is a pain in the ass. He loved Amy on their first date because he's never had a girlfriend before and the only reason he wants to say the baby is his is because he wants to pretend he has actually had sex with Amy. No one should be getting married at 15 and though the show is highly amusing, high scoolers don't only think about sex.

Robin Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 02:56 PM EST

This show is ridiculous to the point where it's unwatchable. Seriously, a kid has his own office in the school where he makes fake ID's? In one of last seasons episodes, they had a kid take over the guidance counselors office (whatever happened to him anyway?)and he was going through all of the confidential files during school hours? That must be the most dysfunctional school ever - which obviously doesnt have locks on the office doors. Hey, I wonder if anyone would notice if the kids starting taking over and teaching the classes? The only thing that would make this show better is getting Bob Saget to play Ben's dad as they look exactly the same.

Bangkok Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 02:41 PM EST

It grates me how on like every episode everyone ends up doing the same thing -- order pizza, want to skip school, get the car washed, show up at a shotgun wedding... I haven't seen the first few eps in a while, so did the same thing hold true for them as well?
Amy is just so freaking dumb and I actually feel badly for Ben. Whereas he's so much in love he's gone to crazy obsessive, Amy's just using him because his family is loaded AND crazy. And from the looks of the previews, is going to try to have her cake and eat it too.

Amd how did the Jock fall for Stat girl again? And why were Amy's parents worried and Ashley's bellybutton when she has hella knockers like that?? Goodness gracious...

jas Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 02:21 PM EST

This show warrants its own popwatch? Seriously?

Although I did watch it yet again and wonder why afterwards. It was every bit as silly as I remembered last season being. Someday I will find the strength to tune out.

Laura K. Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 02:20 PM EST

Meg, did you ever watch One Life to Live? The actor used to play one of Vicki's husbands (Ben, I think). Don't know what he's done since, though.

banker35d Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 02:03 PM EST

I like the premise of the show, but last night's episode was a joke. I have 2 teenage girls 17 and 16 and they thought everything about the show was not reality. The network can get a good message out to kids, but they are making this show look stupid and they are going to loose the audience they are trying to reach.

TV junkie Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 01:20 PM EST

I agree that this show is sometimes completely ridiculous, but I still enjoy watching it with my girls. It does have good lessons to learn (ie: you can get pregnant by only doing it once). Amy's dad, George, is a crack-up. He is so clueless, but hysterically funny. Like in the rerun of the season finale--when he was in the principal's office and he said, "I think THIS is slut school". I couldn't stop laughing. I love how Ben wanted to marry her--not that they actually got married, but that he loves her that much.

vanessa Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 12:47 PM EST

man i love this show i hope thay have a 2nd season showing how they rais the child k think about it I LOVE THIS SHOW, IT KEEPS U ON YOUR FEET!!!!!!!!

PS Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 12:33 PM EST

I don't remember what the comment was (I know, big help), but one sarcastic comment that Ashley (the sister) made had my wife and I rolling on the floor laughing. The show is a train wreck, but we just have to watch.

To Meg Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 12:18 PM EST

Amy's dad used to be on One Life To Live as Viki's husband Ben.

Gretchen Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 12:08 PM EST

I agree that Amy's sister's voice is annoying and I can't believe they got married, legal or otherwise. I hate the message that sends. Also, I don't mind her dad, but I hate that he told the father (sorry, I'm late arriving to TSLOAT, so I'm slow on names right now) of the baby that he couldnt have anything to do w/ it, but he WAS going to support it. Um, no, you dont get to make that decision, thanks.

Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 12:05 PM EST

Amy's friends found the dresses because they were from the redhead's father's wedding.

OMG. I can't believe I knew that. I am officially a dork.

They were in one of Lauren's dad's wedding. It was right after Madison commented on how tight the dress was. I loathe Amy's dad...he's right up there with Scotty's dad on 7th Heaven before the big change of heart (is it the same guy too? He looks really familiar and I can't place him). I just wish everyone would stop being so...sugary sweet. Ben just aggravates me, the way he pressures Amy into doing these things sometimes. And really...marriage at fifteen? I could understand if Ricky and Amy were getting married, but I don't get Ben--does he really love Amy that much to pretend the baby is his? And also (this show is really flawed to me) this show makes it seem like all high schoolers think only about sex...that's not true. Some of this is really farfetched. But how awesome would it be if Brenda Hampton arranged some 7th Heaven crossovers? Rev. Camden could take the Even Stevens' dad place for an episode...

I have the exact same feelings about this show. I find some aspects of it annoying, I don't relate to it at all, but I do seem to be watching it. Anyway, about the bridesmaid's dresses--one of the girls made a comment about having "grown" since the last time they'd worn them, so I assume they'd been in someone's sister's wedding before.
