Lance Bass hoping for 'N Sync reunion. Uh...duh?

Jan 6, 2009, 11:30 AM | by Mike Bruno

Categories: Music, To Care or Not to Care

Nsync_l Dancing With the Stars third-place finisher Lance Bass told Billboard that he's hopeful that one day, "somewhere down the road," he will rejoin Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, and the goofy-haired guy for an 'N Sync reunion tour and album. No word yet on multi-platinum, biggest-star-in-the-world Justin Timberlake's take on the former cosmonaut-hopeful's comments, but our guess is that putting the old band back together is somewhere on the lower half of his to-do list. It'd make make money, sure, but Timberlake has long since shed the boy-band stigma, and his tours and albums make plenty of money all on their own.

Hey, you can't blame Bass for trying. Maybe Andrew Ridgeley should start talking about a Wham! reunion. Or Kirk Cameron can say he hopes to join Leonardo DiCaprio in a Growing Pains reunion. Or I know -- Mickey Rourke can say he's hoping to join Matt Dillon and Diane Lane for a Rumblefish 2009! Oh wait...scratch that one.

What would it take for this to actually happen, PopWatchers? Would you be first in line for tickets? What other "no, duh" reunion hopes can you think of?

Lindsay Sun, Jun 7, 2009 at 05:05 PM EST

Here's my thing. Yes, I totally did love them back then, I wont deny it. At all. So dont try.

This summer I was digging in some old stuff, found No Strings Attached (the only album I own from the band because I cant find it anywhere) and I absolutley CAN NOT stop playing it or watching the Madison Square Garden concert video (which I did today! lol) and I even think I remember watching it on HBO the day it aired. But, I'm only 17 now so I sure wasnt old enough to go anywhere to see them back then so I would be ALL FOR THE REUNION! I hope SOMEONE who has ANY say in the matter reads this and contacts them and tells them to get their act together. Literally! haha

I dont care what a few of you say, it so would not be weird. Old bands come back together all the time. Psht. lol

Rant over.

Meghan Wed, Jan 28, 2009 at 11:57 AM EST

I loved *NSYNC!! I would most definitly be first in line for that concert. It would be like being a teenager again...LOL. I miss them and the fun I use to have being a huge fan!! <3

It has been 11 years of pure adoration and devotion for me with my love for *NSYNC, though I know now that they probably won't be together 99.9% ever again. Sigh. Maybe... one day... I don't even know why Lance keeps saying these things. Every other member except maybe Chris has said *NSYNC is done. Isn't he still friends with them? Lance should know the real status of the group he is a member of!

carla Sat, Jan 10, 2009 at 07:05 PM EST

lets face it.Its been too long and they all have gone on to other things and have established themeselves.Especially Justin.
However I do still listen to their music.

Jacqueline Sat, Jan 10, 2009 at 04:40 PM EST

I've loved *Nsync since I was 5 and people thought I was crazy in 1st grade when all my stuff had the band on it.I know that I would be the only one under 20 in line for tickets if they do have a reunion tour. I have EVERY cd they ever made and i would absolutely love if they did. I'd be in the first row and sreaming. I'd just be like all of the jonas bro fans but with nsync.

ayesha Fri, Jan 9, 2009 at 04:15 PM EST

IM IN my teens now i grew up listening to them from my cousins and we danced to them i was to young to go tot he concerts but it the reunite i will so totally will go!! AHHHH COME ON MAN REUNITE DUDES

Melanie Thu, Jan 8, 2009 at 07:33 PM EST

Well, i won't hold my breath for them to come back. but if they did, you know i'd be front and center in the first row dancing and singing. but JT is to successful on his own to want to share the fame.

dg Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 02:25 PM EST

they need to get back together

Preston Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 02:11 PM EST

When New Kids on the Block reunited last year, it made loyal fans, now in their mid 30s pull out their old posters and memorabilia from their teen years. This will have the same kind of effect for fans of NSYNC if they reunite. The same reminiscent feeling. Even though they've moved on to other kinds of music like other pop acts of a mature kind, their hearts will always be for NSYNC!

Preston Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 02:04 PM EST

I'd like to see a reunion, but I'd like for Justin Timberlake to produce the album for the group. He'd know how the group is supposed to sound. He's done very well on his own. And the content's going to be mature--no more teenybopper teen dream themes. They'll have more of their say of how they want the music to sound for them.

Jamie Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 11:40 AM EST

Not only would I be the first person in line to get tickets, I would pull out all my old posters and memorabilia from the 7 other 'N Sync concerts I went to and become 13 again. I miss them so much!!!

lency Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 02:10 AM EST

They will definately reunite once JT is destitude.

Steph Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 09:47 PM EST

I would totally LOVE if they come backk...@ least once...I mean the reason why Justin is sooooo famous..is because *Nsync MADE him famous...I mean backk when when MUSIC MEANT SUMTHIMG which was the late 90s & early 00s..THEY ROCKED!!...I mean..they were SPECTACULAR..iM 19 yrs old & I still hav all their stuff...posters, songs, puppets, etc...My fave out of all of em was JC..JC is indeed A GREAT SINGER..MUCH BETTER THAN JUSTIN..no offense 2 Justin fans...but I WOULD like 2 say..many ppl backk then LOVED their music & were CRAZY about them...MUSIC TODAY DONT GO NOWHERE...IF THEY COME BACKK...WHICH I HOPE THEY DO...maybe they CAN SHOW THESE "new" artists what MUSIC IS REALLY MADE OF...Unlike Miley Cyrus, & Jonas Bros junk...NO OFFENSE...
Anyway.thats all I gotta say....THANK U!

Brett Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 09:42 PM EST

JT is way bigger than N-SYNC ever was. He is a high in demand act and the last thing in the world he should do is be a dork & return to has been N-SYNC. Talk about career suicide. N-Sync suks.

Karrah Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 08:00 PM EST

It'll probably never happen, but a product of the late 90's boy band era can dream, right?

LB Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 07:36 PM EST

I'm tired of all the snarky comments from journalists about Lance's desire for an NSYNC reunion. People seem to forget how HUGE the group was in 2000, how they still hold the record for most albums sold in one day. I will be the first in line for tickets if a reunion ever happens.

kate Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 05:55 PM EST

i doubt it would happen but if they did reunite, count me in

duranmom Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 05:35 PM EST

Never say never. And I am sooooo there if it happens.

Pinky Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 04:58 PM EST

Highly unlikely considering the success of JT. JC and Joey are also successful in their own ways. Lance was pretty much unheard of until he outed himself and went on DWTS (no insult intended). I'm just saying that they will never fully reunite and really, I hope they don't. I LOVED, no, WORSHIPPED them as NSYNC and I hope they never go back to it. I hope that NSYNC remains a fond memory of my youth, not some dredged up reunion tour.

acf Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 04:47 PM EST

This is like how the ER producers keep trying to get George Clooney to come back for the series finale. Not going to happen . . .

susan Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 03:09 PM EST

I meant JC has been really verbal about not wanting a reunion too. lol

susan Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 03:07 PM EST

I don't see it happening. Their getting too old. Look at what an embarrassment the BSB are. JT is better as a solo artist. Lance is always living in fantasy land. JC dosen't has been really verbal about no wanting it too.

Sara Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 02:51 PM EST

This NEEDS to happen. There was no reason for NSync to break up... they sold 2.2 million copies of No Strings Attached in the first WEEK!!! Plus, the main point being, pop music needs 5-part harmonies. They sang beautifully together.

Justin needs to get off his permanent vaca from golfing with Jessica Biel and work things out in the studio with the boys.

DAVE-O Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 02:51 PM EST

those are lance's footprints you see on justins coattails...

GeeMoney Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 02:40 PM EST

Even so..... I'm a huge NSNYC fan, and even if they reuniterd, I wouldn't go see them perform. I haven't even been interested in the NKOTB reuniting, and I was a HUGE fan. I guess since it's been so many years, I just don't care anymore.

GeeMoney Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 02:38 PM EST

Ha ha ha. When JT ends up broke, we'll see what happens. Other than that, I guess he'll have to keep dating the flavor of the month or keep on doing shows like DWTS to get some publicity.

StuartW Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 02:02 PM EST

NO! STOP! 10 years or so ago, when the Backstreet Boys, N'Stink, and Britney Spears and all her clones brought all that teenybopper dreck into the top 40, I stopped listening to commercial radio for good. Now here we are in 2009, and not only do New Kids On The Block and Backstreet Boys keep trying to kickstart their careers, but otherwise intelligent music critics continue to give Britney 3 and 4-star ratings for her latest batch of over-sexed dance drivel. And now an N'Sync threat? Please stop! GO AWAY!

Michelle Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 02:01 PM EST

I'd love for it happen, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Penelope Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 02:00 PM EST

Maybe the Funky Bunch can convince Mark Wahlberg to come back for a reunion tour. Good Vibrations 2009!

Katie Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 01:45 PM EST

I have seem them in concert 11 times... there ain't no stopping me now - inside to anyone who saw a concert!! But Justin aka Big Head would never do it. Sad

Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 01:18 PM EST

No chance of this ever happening. Justin has stated before he has no intentions of returning.

Maty Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 01:06 PM EST

I would buy a ticket to a reunion faster than...well anything. I'd be there, so I could become a 13 year old again. Sadly, I have come to terms with the tiny chance of this ever happening.

BrandonK Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 12:36 PM EST

Obviously they would make a ton of money if they reunited for a tour and/or album. I would definitely be interested in what JC and Justin could come up with...they're both good songwriters and have distinctive styles. I think we can continue to hope for a reunion because they all seem to like each other...no Beatles-style feuds or anything.

mark in nyc Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 12:22 PM EST

Justin Timberlake is too busy as a regular cast member of Saturday night live to be able to do this.

Jennifer Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 12:15 PM EST

Who really knows what's going thru JT's mind. The Love Guru was an embarassment for him, and he's busy working on other things as well. I wonder if he might do it since all his fans were mostly *NSYNC fans to begin with. I'll sign a petition to get this on the table for them all. I'll be front row and center when they come to Dallas.

Gretchen Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 12:10 PM EST

WILL...NEVER...HAPPEN. JT will have to squander all his earnings and then women will have to stop buying his albums and anything else he has touched. Neither of which is likely to EVER happen!

Andrew Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 12:07 PM EST

All that man cares about is attention! He is desperate for being in the media. I think he's a huge loser.

Lauren Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 11:55 AM EST

Well, if the stars align and this happens, I'll be front row center when they come to Atlanta.

Meghan Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 11:54 AM EST

I'd be there in a heartbeat.

Snarf Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 11:40 AM EST

JT will have to lose his entire fortune for this to happen. Trust.
