I Love You, Man

Plot: After realizing that he has no male pals, a sensitive guy (Paul Rudd) befriends a goofy loose cannon (Jason Segel).

Looks like: Bromance: The Movie (thankfully without Brody Jenner)

Verdict: Between this and his Prop 8-themed SNL appearance earlier this year, Rudd has officially cornered the market on homo-ambiguous comedy. Which might be kind of offensive if he weren't so damn charming. We just love him, man.

Obsessed

Plot: A psycho office temp (Heroes' Ali Larter) makes life hell for her boss (Idris Elba) and his wife (Beyoncé Knowles)

Looks like: The end of Knowles' winning streak. Sorry, but this has B-movie written all over it, and I don't mean B like Beyoncé.

Verdict: After The Crush, Fatal Attraction, and Swimfan, we're finding it hard to muster much excitement for a movie with Larter in the Glenn Close/Alicia Silverstone/Erika Christensen role. Now, if Knowles had been the villainess, we'd be singing a different tune...

Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian

Plot: Ben Stiller sees dead people. And dead animals. And dead presidents.

Looks like: When History Attacks

Verdict: Amy Adams (as Amelia Earhart) and Bill Hader (as General Custer) are nice additions to the over-stuffed cast, but otherwise this looks less like a sequel to NATM and more like a genetic clone.

i didn't like NATM, but the sequel looks much much funnier, especially that stupid statue flaunting his "guns." I'm definitely watching I Love You Man. And while I find watching Beyonce kicking someone's face in entertaining, i don't feel like watching ali larter degrade herself.

Luisa Tue, Dec 23, 2008 at 03:34 PM EST

I Love You, Man looks fun, if only because I've never quite gotten over Paul Rudd (from Clueless, of course). And I love the rest of the cast too--Jason Segel and Rashida Jones especially.

Obsessed looks pretty bad. Why would Beyonce put herself in a crappy movie like that?

And though I liked Night at the Museum for the fun kiddy movie it was, the sequel seems unnecessary. Why did Amy Adams hop on for this one? Maybe she'll pull another Enchanted and totally make the movie.

Tue, Dec 23, 2008 at 03:31 AM EST

I moderately enjoyed NATM 1, but Jonah Hill's addition to NATM 2 is so distracting! He is fast becoming the Seth Rogen of comedy: he keeps playing versions of the same darn character in every single movie he's in. He's barely been out there in the public consciousness for more than a couple years, yet he's already developed a recognizable, annoying shtick. He'd better make like Will Ferrell (in "Stranger Than Fiction") and Michael Cera (in "Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist") and show that he's capable of doing something else, or he'll end up tired and trite, just as Seth Rogen has unfortunately become.

jcpdiesel21 Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 10:54 PM EST

I Love You, Man looks pretty funny, largely due to Paul Rudd and Jason Segel. I'm interested to see them in scenes together.
Obsessed looks really terrible. This movie has been done so many times before! D-Day, what were you thinking?
Night at the Museum 2 looks okay. I liked the first one well enough, and will probably rent this one. Bill Hader, Amy Adams and Hank Azaria look like fun additions to the cast. But Jonah Hill can go away.

Alyssa Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 10:30 PM EST

I loved the First NATM, and I cant wait to see the Sequel, It looks awesome and hilarious. I dont care what anybody says imgaination is always so cool.

Amy Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 09:16 PM EST

yes to 'i love you, man'... no to the other two.

Jack Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 08:14 PM EST

I love you man looks good, but it got knocked up a notch for having Paul Rudd, Jason Segal, and Andy Samberg.

Night at the Museum 2 looks ok, just for Bill Hader and Jonah Hill.

Elena Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 07:53 PM EST

"I Love You, Man" has Jason Segel. I will see anything my lovely HIMYM gang is in. Luckily, they haven't made anything bad...yet?

CineRam Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 06:13 PM EST

Clint Howard is reprising his role from "Apollo 13"? He better be careful he doesn't turn into R. Lee Ermey.

Philiana Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 03:43 PM EST

"I Love You, Man" looks the most promising out of all three. Paul Rudd is just fantastic!!

Alli Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 02:37 PM EST

I Love You, Man looks great! Everything that comes from the Judd Apatow gang is hilarious.

Obsessed looks super-awful. How did they get such well known actors into such a crappy and trite movie? Ugh...

anthony Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 12:55 PM EST

that obbessed looked hot night at the musem 2 looks good and l love you man
look funny

M Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 12:47 PM EST

Um, do the filmmakers think that the Smithsonian is one museum? Because it's not...

DR Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 12:40 PM EST

"I Love You Man" actually looks funny. I'm intrigued. "Obsessed"...yeah, Glenn Close did it better in "Fatal Attraction", this looks like a poor rehash. And wasn't there already a thriller with this exact theme, anyway? Maybe called "The Temp"? Whatever. "NatM2" does look rehashed, but the cameos are catching my eye, this will probably be a renter.

Jonathan Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 12:10 PM EST

"I Love You, Man" looks hilarious and "Obsessed" actually looks to be like an old 90s thriller, which could be fun -- it seems like we haven't had one like that in a while.

Kristen Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 11:48 AM EST

Anything with Paul Rudd in it is a slam dunk in my book. In contrast, anything with Beyonce, where she is NOT singing, is an automatic rejection in my book.

v Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 11:37 AM EST

EA too funny. I'm also excited to see her fail at something but I'll witness that from afar. I've seen fatal attraction and swimfan. not gonna lie, there doesn't seem to be anything remotely different about this one... I pass... I give it an F. I love Paul Rudd and think this show looks entertaining I'll give it a B. I'm holding onto a thread of hope the NATM2 will be good... I loved the first...

Sir Andrew Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 11:26 AM EST

The NATM trailer was actually my favorite. I Love You, Man looks great, and Obsession looks absolutely terrible. Sack-in-the-box.

nunnya Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 11:05 AM EST

Can't wait to see I Love You, Man. I guess that means I'll give the trailer an A.

Nick Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 11:00 AM EST

I Love You, Man looks really funny. I'll definitely see it.
Obsessed looks alright, and I love Ali Larter, so I'll probably either see it in theaters if I get a free pass or on video.
Night at the Museum looks blah, I'll probably wait for TV or something.

Elizabeth Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 10:47 AM EST

I love Amy Adams as Amelia Earhardt.

shy Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 10:21 AM EST

The Night at the Museum commercial looks kinda creepy.... I'll say I give it a C-... but the I love you, man looks hilarious, and i would probably give it like a B. then obsessed looks AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! i am soooo gonna see it!

Dr. Zaius Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 10:17 AM EST

I Love You, Man: I keep seeing an bevy of comedy stars and it's making me excited. Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, Jaime Pressly, Rashida Jones, Molly Shannon, Andy Samberg, etc. Paul Rudd is just so charming, and Jason Segel is laugh out loud in your face funny. The writing is pretty good, even for a trailer, too. A-

Obsessed: Ali Larter's done this character many times before, on TV and film. Even with Beyonce as the temptress, it does look like it has a low-grade script. This movie, the temptress and the married, man has been over done. It honestly does look like a B movie thriller. C-

Night at the Museum 2: Star-studded cast, wow. You have the new additions of people like Jonah Hill and Amy Adams. The jokes feel kind of recycled, but then again, it's marketed to the kids and they will gobble this up. C-

Dwight Schrute Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 10:06 AM EST

I think Adam Markovitz is gay.

EA Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 09:56 AM EST

Obessed, get an A+, can't wait to see Beyonce fail at something!

Jessica S. Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 09:43 AM EST

"I Love You, Man" gets a B+. I will watch Paul Rudd in anything and Jason Segal is hilarious.

"Obsessed" gets a C-. I agree that if Beyonce were the temptress, it might be a little more interesting. But Ali Larter already played the teenage version of this character in "Varsity Blues". Also, that's the worst title possible for this genre of movie. Like it's not obvious enough, right?

"Night at the Museum 2" gets an F. I never saw the first one so I can't comment on whether it's a clone but it looks like garbage. Remember when Ben Stiller was funny? Those were the days...
