Kristen is an amazing actress, and even though shes not the "perfect bella" (i personally think she is) it doesn't mean that she can act. This girl is a classic. I can see her getting Oscars in the future.
And im sure that shes gonna do great on this film, she always gives like 110 percent.

It's hard to say if Kristen Stewart is a bad actress or not. Twilight was as poorly written a movie as it was a book, and if your character lacks depth and believability even in the original novel, how can you possibly give a good performance as that character?

HOWEVER, it's worth noting that Twilighters and anti-Twilighters tend to agree that Kristen Stewart's performance was sub-par.

Any way you slice it, I DEFINITELY think Joan Jett deserves better. Stewart is nowhere near that badass, and too conventionally beautiful to boot. I'll see the movie, but I'm prepared for a travesty.

I'm having a hard time picturing Stewart as the badass that Joan Jett is, but I guess we'll see. I'm not thrilled about the casting. But I guess, to be fair, I've only ever seen her in Twilight, where her range of emotion is as mobile as a paraplegic's legs. So, I question her acting abilities obviously, but I think I'll still see The Runaways regardless. I guess I'll see what reviewers have to say when it comes out. I honestly hope, though, for the sake of this movie and New Moon, that there's more to her acting abilities than Twilight led me to see. All I can do is hope, right? Hah.

I liked Twilight , but I havet seen her other movies ,so im in no place to judge, but I dont know if this is the right part for her. But, it would be intersting to see if her other acting abilities can be tested in this movie.

It never ceases to amaze me the courage everyone seems to have about making rude, hurtful, snide comments about others ANONYMOUSLY while veiled from judgment themselves by their trusty computer screen. Having said that, Kristen seems to be one of the most sensitive, honest, hard-working actors I've seen in a long time(and I have seen most of her movies)and while it is IMPOSSIBLE in advance to say how she will do, she seems to be entirely committed to everything she does, so what else really matters? I personally think she will do an incredible job- she is very talented and while Rob did a very good job in Twilight, Kristen carried it. To those who think she played it too flat - were you not looking at her face? One of her best abilities is projecting emotion through facial expressions. Personally, I thought she brought more life to Bella than Bella ever had in the book. Kristen brought a depth to the character that just didn't exist in the book - people can't see what they don't have.

Alright, I appreciate that she is trying to branch out and take "edgier" roles, but I really can't see her as Joan Jett. Into the Wild (one of my absolute favorite movies) would have been perfect-- if it weren't for her scenes.

I think Kristen did a great job in Twilight and I look forward to also seeing her in other movies. Personally, I love it when actors and actresses DONT stick to the same role in every movie, it shows their full acting abilities and isn’t that what it’s about!? If she can pull off a rock star and Bella she’s amazing! So I give her all the love and support she deserves! I think Kristen and Rob are perfect, they have on screen the electricity that Bella and Edward have in the books. I’m soo excited to see how Kristen can transform Bella from plain and frumpy to gorgeous and sleek in the blink of an eye in Breaking Dawn, I have no doubts she will be eye popping!

i think she was very good as bella, but did need to show a broader range of emotion. bella shows all her emotions on her face, but that didn't come through. i really thought it was just bad acting, but thought back to other roles i saw her in and realized she was more herself as bella than she had done with other characters. i think it's very smart to branch out now and not be typecast.

I think that she is a very good actress, but I think she has a better face for like scary movies..i.e the Messenger. She act too much like a "badass" to keep up any kind of image to play a good, simple girl like Bella. Yes, you can not hear Bella's voice and what it is really supposed to sound like but I beleive she is too monotoned. So what ever I have no problem with her in any other movie. She is pretty and a great actress. I just didn't like the particular work she did in Twilight. Even though The Messenger wasn't a big hit she did a great job. So I think she will do a great job in this movie.

I personally think that without Kristen in twilight, it wouldn't be the same, Kristen and Robert's chemistry is one thing, and I think they did really good at the movie, very very good. Heck, I won't even read the book if not for them, I got interested to the book bec. of the movie, and how they brought it to life. Changing bella or edward is very crucial to success of the movie, it wouldn't be the same if they change them.. that's practically suicide!

As much as I love Harry Potter, the actors have been in these movies for years, and have not REALLY branched out into anything else huge but different, but here she is in the first movie of the series and is already branching out. I love the Twilight books, but the movie isn't out in my town yet :( GRRR! But I saw her on youtube and was instantly suprised by her voice. She's very pretty, but her voice is very deep for a girl and from what everyone is saying, I wonder if she makes the right Bella. Okay- I used to think Kristen Stewart was not that great of an actress, but if you look at her movie Speak and the upcoming (hopefully) The Cake Eaters, she's definitely coming along well. She played Bella a bit too dry and Rob played Edward a bit too serious, but I'm looking forward to seeing what a new director will pull out of these two. I think Rob is DEFINITELY capable of greatness (How To Be & Little Ashes) and Kristen is well on her way to getting roles to prove so- at least I'm hoping. Fingers crossed!

I've yet to see Kristen Stewart in a movie where she actually acts. I think she's very pretty. I think she's been way lucky in hollywood. She's been given some great roles to be so young. But her performance in Twilight was comically bad. It seems like she wants people to get up in arms about the other roles she's chosen. A stripper. A gay inmate. Good grief - who cares? I think there are some great young actresses out there (Anna Kendrick, Olivia Thrilby, Ellen Page ...) who have more interesting careers to watch.

Kristen will do great as Joan Jett. She does have more in common with her than Bella. She played guitar and sang in "Into the Wild" and did pretty good. Bella would have been a tough part for anyone to pull off and I think KS did a great job with the script she had. She and Rob took it seriously and they had chemistry that jumped off the screen.

I love kristen & i think she is a great actress. i don't think she comes off as arrogant in her interviews, but rather very nervous. she's never had to deal with this level of fame before and she doesn't seem to know what to do with herself-she thinks of herself as a regular person so why would people care about her life so much. as for her looks, i think she is beautiful and i see no reason as to why her looks would affect her acting-for people to say she's bad because of her looks is just shallow. and who cares if she is going to play a stripper in her next movie? it's her choice, she didn't ask to be anyone's role model and she shouldn't be judged for wanting to take on a role that she liked. what about the fact that she is going to play a trangender character in a movie her mom wrote, should she not do it because it's off the norm and not what a "rolemodel" would do? she is a young girl trying to live her life and as an 18 year old girl i praise her for being who she is.

I've seen several of her movies and wish a better Bella had been picked. I teach the girls who have made this book/story the phenomenon that it has become (teens 13-17) & I have also read all of the books and enjoyed them. I have taught another very good book (Speak) that was made into a movie starring Kristen Stewart. She ruined that for me as well. When Twilight opened with her voice over I thought it was going to be Speak all over again. Unfortunately since the movie franchise has started off with Kristen as Bella, I feel that she has to play Bella all the way through. Let's just hope that in the little time between sequels she learns how to act.

I'm highly dubious of Stewart's credibility as an actress. I've seen several of her works and her acting technique is... monotonous. I honestly don't see any character development behind her twitchiness and hesitant line-delivery. If that's supposedly "real" acting, I'm out.

I'll admit, I've seen the slightest bit of potential in her comedic timing but, in my opinion, this girl is just a slender body and a pretty face.

I can't believe there are people on here saying Kristen can't ACT! I guess Sean Penn made a mistake casting her for ITW. I guess TPTB just don't know what they are doing when they cast her with the likes of Robert DeNero. Please don't type your ignorance. Twilight has moved her bankability forward on a quicker track but she has done much better films. The girl hasn't even started and I bet she is chomping at the bit to get Twilight out of the way so Joan Jett can take priority.

I don't really see how interesting the movie about Joan Jett and Lita Ford can be. Where are they now? Not doing much. Kristen will do alright. She has that surly chick thing going on and a bad attitude. That'll come in handy. She seems more like Joan Jett than Bella in Twilight. Twilight would have been nothing with out Rob Pattinson, Kristen did all right, but Rob was the main attraction.

I loved the Twilight series and saw the movie twice. I was increasingly annoyed by her lack of skills as an actor. I mean, did she even have to audition? I swear, she blinked about 3,000 times and she constantly shakes her head when she is in a serious/emotional scene. Its really bad. And I hate to say it because I really wanted to like her in the movie, but she really needs to step up her acting game and learn how to shed a tear or something. She is lifeless and boring. She and Rob Pattinson had great chemistry, which goes along way..but he carries the movie.

I've seen Kristen Stewart in three movies and she was exactly the same every time. I think she's pretty. I also think she's a terrible actress. Twilight was a goofy movie anyway, but Stewart was so stuttery, angsty, dead in the eyes. In Into the Wild, I could see a spark of chemistry with Emile Hirsch. In Twilight, I saw nothing. I think the draw for her seems to be that Twilight fans are afraid to say they dislike any part of the movie - particularly the silly performances of the two leads. She was a ridiculous Bella. I don't think she made her smarter. She just made her even more boring than she was in the books. I'm thinking if you've seen her Bella Swan ... you've seen her Joan Jett. And honestly, some of her interviews make her seem arrogant and immature. People aren't going to throw rocks if she's a stripper or a gay inmate or Joan Jett. She's just another whiny overpaid actress. I don't think she's earned the right to be called "edgy" yet.

Kristen proved in Twilight that she is a very good actress. She managed to make Bella passionate; not cheesy. I will have to see a movie before I judge it but I just feel sorry for girls in strip clubs and I hope that this movie portrays how dehumanizing it is for the girls who do it (and bad for the men) and doesn't glamorize it.

some may say that kristen stewart is too "stiff" of an actress, but what i see is complete honesty and passion in all her roles. i think she's perfect for any serious role, but she can also be quite witty. so i think joan jett is a great character for her. kristen stewart is awesome, i can't wait wait to see her in more movies, i think its great that she's doing a variety of characers!

I am a twilight fan, and its really hard seeing nice, sweet bella swan play as a stripper. Its not right, and utterly absurd. Althought i do see the resemblance, i dont think she's the best of actors. no offense. Robert pattinson rocked edward tho!!!!

I think Kristen is really talented, and I'm glad to hear she's taken this role. If you notice, she pulls off the entire emotional spectrum in Twilight.. fear, passion, angst, anger, love... she does it all and carries the movie.

I think she'll do her research for this role. It will stretch her, but she's totally capable. She's fearless.

I think she is one of the best and most under appreciated younger actresses. She has been around for a while but I guess most people wouldn't recognize her because she's not putting herself all out there like the other ones her age. I think she would play Joan Jett well.

Some of you folks haven't got a clue about Kristen Stewart. She won't be "branching out" in ANY role she takes following Twilight. She has had a very, very solid acting career since something like ten years old.

And for you people that she can't act, well, I guess all those extremely reputable directors she's worked for, and powerhouse actors she has been in films with are all a bunch of morons for saying she is one of the most talented, focused, and subtle young actors out there today, and has been for a while...

Love Kristen, think she is very talented, and like the majority of her work. I think this was a bad move, though. Especially if she is going to actually sing. She can't pull of the Joan Jett voice. Much too ambitious of a project at this point. Biopics are rarely good.

However, Twilight fans are like sheep and will see anything she or Rob are in so it will probably do better than expected.

Kristen is a wildly talented actress. I'm glad that the Twilight role got her more imminent popularity. She's been playing the guitar for years now, so for the stage looks and presence, I think she has it. I don't host any qualms about the role of the stripper--I think she can even pull that off; it sounds interesting. Thanks for the update.
