Travis Mon, Jun 22, 2009 at 10:35 AM EST

The Happening was actually a pretty suspenseful movie. I liked it quite a bit. 10,000 BC was so stupid, it was funny - although I couldn't grasp the full stupidity because I saw it in Russian. A friend of mine made the mistake of seeing Milk and says that it made him remember why he's glad that he doesn't live in the US (where homosexuality is openly celebrated).

Kaleb Fri, Jan 9, 2009 at 09:17 PM EST

F**k this Piece of garbage crap junk poo trash. Dark knight 3? it kicked the crapp out of iron man for sure. and the happening was better than all 10 of those films.

SmallvilleFreak Thu, Jan 8, 2009 at 12:47 AM EST

The Happening was not that bad. It was slow yet very smart movie. It was very enjoyable. I loved Mark Walhberg in it. I don't think it would make the best list but it doesn't deserve the worst list as well. I m the only weird one here to say Speed Racer rocked. Sorry to all I loved it. I went with 3 girls 3 of them over it cried and I had to console them which lead to good things for me ;-P. Love the wachowski bros

Suzanne Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 10:44 PM EST

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls one of the BEST movies of the year?? Hardly.. That was one of the worst pieces of swill I have ever seen. So unbelievably disappointed by it.

Joe Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 10:22 PM EST

Planet B-Boy was one of the best documentaries of the year. I'm not even into b-boying and yet it appeals to people from all backgrounds. A truly rare film.

Maureen Dorman Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 10:05 PM EST

Anyone that has Happy Go Lucky on their top 10 list loses all credibility. After seeing Happy Go Lucky I felt anything but Happy or Lucky to have seen it!

MovieDude Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 06:38 PM EST

yeah... this list sucks... quantum of solace??? please that movie was crap... zach and miri make a porno was worse than fools gold gee wiz...

CVC Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 05:23 PM EST

I saw 1 of the bad movies, (jumper) and 7 good ones

Terry Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 03:53 PM EST

Several films stuck out this year for me: the Dark Knight, Quantum of Solace, the Bank Job, Milk, and Frost/Nixen. As for the worst, I would probably say Never Back Down. Then again, you have shirtless Cam Gigandet and Sean Faris so it couldn't have all that bad!!

pai Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 02:35 PM EST

The Visitor is soooooooo good. I'm glad Richard Jenkins is getting Oscar buzz, but he and the film deserve even more praise.

Mike Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 02:14 PM EST

Being in my late 20s, and always being a Mike Myers fan, The Love Guru was actually hysterical IF you go into it and watch it knowing how bad it is. But its a great way to kill 1 1/2 hours. And stop slamming Indy 4. Stop comparing it to the others and just be happy we got to see Indy again!! I thought it was awesome

faithy Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 12:22 PM EST

23! (including all of the top 10)

and the only one of the worst list I've seen is the happening.

peruvianfish Wed, Jan 7, 2009 at 12:01 PM EST

i have so unfortunate to have watched "The Happening". After sitting for an hour and a half, I still don't know what's happening.

monica Tue, Dec 30, 2008 at 04:55 PM EST

I've seen 15 of them, and of the 35 I haven't seen I would see 20. So technically, I agree with 35/50 of them, and I most certainly agree with their top 3. And of the worst, I've seen 4 and can vouch for their horribleness, but I still want to see Meet Dave, 10,000 BC, and The Love Guru, because I'm a glutton for punishment.

jane Thu, Dec 25, 2008 at 05:31 PM EST

i saw 12 of the best and 1 of the worst. i am shocked to see that seven pounds didnt make the best list while movies like indiana jones and kung fu panda are on the list. also, ironman was good but not number one.

dave Thu, Dec 25, 2008 at 03:04 PM EST

Indiana Jones on the list (granted its @ the end) and no "Frozen River"?...at least "The Visitor" made it high, another great movie that no one saw

heather Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 02:51 PM EST

17 of the best and none of the worst seen. Not too bad considering that a few are just opening/have yet to open.

DM Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 02:12 PM EST

I've seen 16.5, but that number should bloom in the coming weeks to Oscar.

Eric Friedmann Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 11:27 AM EST

I saw less than 10 movies this year because there is less and less quality films out there. I have to say, though, that THE BANK JOB has stuck out in my mind ever since seeing it. I have to admit, against my better judgement, that I loved THE DARK KNIGHT, too. Go figure.

g-man Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 08:49 AM EST

I agree with most of the comments here. Iron Man was a fine film, but better than the Dark Knight? I don't think so. Moviefone blew it big time!

cookiemac Mon, Dec 22, 2008 at 08:28 AM EST

I can't believe I've only seen 13 of the best and I've seen 5 of the worst. To my defense the 5 worst were all on dvd rentals

Carli Sun, Dec 21, 2008 at 10:15 PM EST

Wow, I've only seen five...that's surprising.

Allison Sun, Dec 21, 2008 at 02:53 PM EST

I've only seen 5 - pretty sad.

PeteDogg Sun, Dec 21, 2008 at 02:20 PM EST

I've seen 16 of the best... only 1 (the happening) of the worst

Jessica S. Sun, Dec 21, 2008 at 11:19 AM EST

~TDK was by far the best movie of the year, Iron Man was enjoyable, certainly, but to rank it's fun brand of fluff higher than Christopher Nolan's masterpiece is just silly.~

The economy being the way it is I've not seen many movies this year. So while I only saw 6 of the "best" (although I would love to see more of them) I didn't waste time or money on any of the "worst". That makes me feel a little better...

brian_izzle Sun, Dec 21, 2008 at 11:11 AM EST

ok Dark Knight ...is # 1 ...Iron Man is Number 3 at best ....also The Incredible Hulk was better than Indy 4 for crying out loud ....and Made of Honor and Speed Racer were ten times more unwatchable than Jumper ...that being said ...12 best 2 worst from this particular list ....Not a bad ratio ...but would like to cut down on that ...

Emily Sun, Dec 21, 2008 at 10:18 AM EST

16 of the best, 3 of the worst.

And for the record, I TRIED to leave 10,000 B.C., but my friend wouldn't let me.

Also, this is a little harsh on the Happening. I mean sure, it shouldn't be on the other list either, but..

KT Sun, Dec 21, 2008 at 01:37 AM EST

I've seen 13 of the best and only 1 of the worst (Jumper). I agree with most of the best movies, but Iron Man as #1? Over the Dark Knight and Slumdog Millionaire? I don't think so.

PJ Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 10:15 PM EST

The Happening wasn't really that bad. I'm not saying it was great, it probably shouldn't be on the 50 best, but it definitely wasn't the worst of the year.

Christie Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 09:56 PM EST

I'm going to have to contribute to this- I really think The Dark Knight should've been #1.

Alyssa Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 09:33 PM EST

oops! My Bad, I guess I was so used to EW catering To Twilight that I thought you girls would be all over this by now. I apologize- you havent squealed yet.

Alyssa Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 09:22 PM EST

Oh but, it really doesnt surprise me alot of you tweenie girls are screaming " Twilight, Twilight" and saying " The Dark Knight" would be on your worst list. Your showing your true IQ and colors darlings. I believe when it first came out some girl even thought Twilight was Oscar material? WOW- we are falling apart as a society. Boys are going to Mars to get candy bars and Girls are going to Jupiter to get Stupider. I bought the book out of curiosity, and well I can say- " Curiosity killed the Cat"

Alyssa Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 09:17 PM EST

Clearly you are all uppity selfish and completely clueless losers. THIS is an opinion, everyone is going to walk out of a movie with a different take on it. If someone likes one you think is horrible doesnt mean something is wrong with them, and vice versa. @ booboosmommy- I too happen to love Beverly Hills Chihuahua, dont listen to anyone who says its stupid, anyone who ACTUALLY SAW it would say differently. We arent alone either BHC grossed over 110 million dollars so screw you nay-sayers.

Sara Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 06:48 PM EST

I've seen 12 of the best and 2 1/2 of the worst (I just couldn't get through fool's gold) I would have put Indiana Jones on the worst though and added Twilight to the best.

Slingher Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 06:39 PM EST

I've seen 3 of the worst (Fools Gold, Jumper,10,00 BC) and 10 of the best ( Iron Man, The Dark Knight, Wall-e, Man on Wire, Tropic Thunder, Kung Fu Panda, Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who, Quantum of Solace, W., and Indy 4

brian Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 05:02 PM EST

PLANET B-BOY, truly inspirational film! Glad to see that it made the "best" list.

Lisa Simpson Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 04:20 PM EST

I didn't see any of the Ten Worst on this list, but "The Dark Knight" and "Indiana Jones" would have been on my Ten Worst list.

Matt Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 03:20 PM EST

"I wanted to smack M.Night"

Trust me, we want to smack idiots like you, too. Just leave the man alone, he makes niche films for a limited audience now, but if you don't like them, don't see them, simple as that.

Matt Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 03:18 PM EST

"Iron Man better than The Dark Knight? In what alternate universe?"

In this universe where not everyone is a sniveling fanboy for a decent superhero flick. i.e. Everywhere but IMDb.

Zach Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 02:12 PM EST

Only 6 of the best, none of the worst.

That being said, other than Australia, Sex and the City, Nim's Island (eww), Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, and 27 Dresses, all the movies I saw were on the best list. Yeah, okay...sad still.

rachel Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 02:01 PM EST

10 good, 0 bad thankfully.

EEE Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 01:55 PM EST

11 of the good ones, none of the stinkers

kim in kentucky Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 12:58 PM EST

didn't see it, but I read/heard that The Women was one of the worst movies of the year --- maybe its in the top 10.

kim in kentucky Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 12:48 PM EST

Of the best, 27 never came to town - the rest, saw all but 5 and those just didn't interest me -- the worse, only saw The Happening and that was on a borrowed dvd.

Eric P. Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 11:47 AM EST

I definitely feel that College should be on the list of Worst Movies of the Year. I was dragged kicking and screaming to the theater, and even the friend tha did the dragging was embarassed as we walked out.

lk50 Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 11:20 AM EST

Where is SATC? not even in the top 50-no way! and agree with earlier comment- iron man above dark knight? this list is a little wacky!

Colleen Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 11:06 AM EST

Ugh, I'm sooo poor and sooo busy this year (grad student) that I've only managed to see 6 of the best. And none of the worst (phew). I have major Christmas plans with my mom to see a good chunk of the best that are out in theatres. But still...6? That's a new low for me....(and twilight goes on the worst list...so disappointing)

Jamie Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 09:29 AM EST

wtf! Half of their best movies havent even made DVD yet!

Watch The Dark Knight full movie here!

http://missedashow.com/2008/12/batman-the-dark-knight-full-movie-watch-here/

James Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 09:03 AM EST

Iron Man better than The Dark Knight? In what alternate universe?

Rose Tyler Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 02:30 AM EST

Love that Zack and Miri is on there! I've seen 14 of the best with plans to see many more before the year's end and none on the worst list.

dave Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 02:28 AM EST

I've seen 14 of the best and 1 of the worst, and that happens to be 10,000 BC, and I totally agree with it being on the worst list. It was terrible. Indiana Jones does not deserve to be on any kind of best list. I almost feel it's deserving of the worst list. I liked Role Models and I think it deserves to be there - just kinda surprised that it's so high cuz I thought Sarah Marshall and Pineapple Express were both better. Ok, Iron Man was great, but the best movie of the year? I think not. There's a handful of movies here that are better and some that I haven't even seen yet that I'm sure will be better. Although I haven't seen The Happening or The Hottie and the Nottie, it's really hard for me to believe that The Happening is worse. And I think they forgot to include Righteous Kill on the worst list. It was just plain bad. It loses even more points for wasting the talent of De Niro and Pacino.

Armen Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 01:51 AM EST

13 of the best, 1 of the worst. In no dimension should Iron Man be #1. It's good and all but there are two trancendent movies on this list. The Dark Knight of course and WALL-E. I don't think I've been as moved by moving images I was by the first 30 minutes of WALL-E. Had to put my hood on because I almost started crying at the stark beauty of it all. Also, people need to lighten up and quit bashing Speed Racer. That movie surprised the heck out of me. Of course I was blazed out of my mind at the time so that could've had something to do with it.

Lisa M Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 01:08 AM EST

I've seen 10 of the best and 4 of the worst. I'm surprised that I haven't seen more of the best- and the ones that I have seen were more obscure. I saw 4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 Days but not Indiana Jones. I saw Taxi to the Darkside but not Kung Fu Panda. I would have listed The Dark Knight at #1 though. As for the bad, I enjoyed the Happening and Jumper. They were decent popcorn movies. Fool's Gold and Disaster Movie not so much.

luckylaura79 Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 12:38 AM EST

Sad to say I've only seen one movie alltogether, "The Dark Knight." yep, I've been a TV gal this year.

Shannon Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 11:17 PM EST

I enjoyed The Happening more than I expected to after the beating it got by the critics/public. I turned Mama Mia off after twenty minutes and I'm disappointed that Wanted wasn't higher on the list. It was one of my most enjoyed movies of the year.

pede Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 10:57 PM EST

8 of the best, 2 of the worst. And I totally agree, where the heck is Speed Racer? That movie could easily be the worst of the decade, even my kids hated it. My issue with The Happening is that is started out so promising, I was really getting into it, then the whole reasoning behind it killed it for me. Then it ended. I wanted to smack M.Night almost as badly as I did after watching The Village. Please just stop making movies, you obviously had your only success with The Sixth Sense, everything else now is just your attempt to make money.

Donna Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 09:34 PM EST

Valkyrie not in the top 50? Just saw a pre-screening of it and loved it. I'm surprised.

Em Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 08:59 PM EST

I've seen 5 of the best and 0 of the worst.

Pedro Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 08:18 PM EST

have seen 6 of the worst and 31 of the best. not bad

Heather Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 07:29 PM EST

Why is Indy4 on the best list? I couldn't get through that movie without howling at the TV until my voice was hoarse.

Rachel K Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 06:55 PM EST

12 of the best and only 3 of the worst. However, I do have a ton of the best movies in my netflix queue so i don't feel quite so bad.

C-Tuck Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 06:31 PM EST

9 best
2 worst

Jo Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 06:27 PM EST

10 of the best and 2 of the worst. So basically I see 20%, equal opportunity quality movies.

Sara Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 06:20 PM EST

I've seen 28 of the best and 2 of the worst, but those were on a 16-hour flight from Osaka, so does it really count?

Melinda65 Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 06:17 PM EST

I've seen Mamma Mia! and Wall-E. I wanted to see Bolt over the Thanksgiving weekend, but it wasn't in the theater in the town I was in.

At least I haven't seen any of the worst, and don't want to. Of course, there are a lot on the "Best" list that I don't want to see, either.

Jake Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 05:59 PM EST

17 of the best and none of the worst...well I walked out of Meet Dave so I guess 1/2. And what the heck is Mamma Mia doing on the best list? Especially ahead of Indy 4 and Burn After Reading. Say what you will about Indy 4, but it was a million times better than the unbearably bad Mamma Mia.

Josh Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 05:58 PM EST

I have seen 23 of the best and 2 of the worst. I actually enjoyed The Happening. I know it wasn't good, but I enjoyed it all the way through.
I would see more of the best, but I am living out of the US right now and those movies aren't as accessible as they were just a few short months ago.

Lau Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 05:37 PM EST

Saw 10 of the best... I'd have seen more but didn't make it to all; I've seen 1 of the worst (the Happening) it was also not my choice ;)

gj Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 05:21 PM EST

10 of best, none of worst yay! I've seen Planet B-Boy, but I'm surprised it was included in 2008's list, I saw it at the Tribeca drive-in in summer '06 maybe? It was an amazing movie though.

Bubbatwo420 Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 05:15 PM EST

Seen 33 out of the 50 but plan on seeing another 7 here by Christmas. This is a much better list than lisa and Owen's.

Rahul Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 04:55 PM EST

16 of the best to-date. I'll probably see 5-6 more before the year ends.

Joe in Philly Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 04:23 PM EST

24 of the best (a few haven't opened here yet) and 4 of the worst.

Dan Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 04:00 PM EST

Leatherheads and Righteous Kill are probably the two worst movies I've seen this year ... though Jumper and the Happening would be close being.

Johnny Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 03:55 PM EST

I have seen 10 on the best and 2 on the worst, though it was not my choice to go see The Happening.

glory whole Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 03:40 PM EST

To the worst I need to add House Bunny and that awful one with Michael Ceara....Infinite Playlist.

LMB Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 03:23 PM EST

15 of the best, so far, but scads more to still see. 0 of the worst. I will go out on a limb and agree with Iron Man at #1 and would put Tropic Thunder higher. Two of the most enjoyable movies of the year, much more so than Dark Knight. Sorry.

AA Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 03:18 PM EST

I've seen 8 of the best (although WALL*E is my number one), and I've never wanted to walk out of a movie until I saw The Happening. There are about five others from the best list that I want to see if/when they get released in my neck of the woods.

Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 03:14 PM EST

28 in best and 0 in worst

Happy-go-Lucky Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 03:13 PM EST

Although I agree that Funny Games & Seven Pounds should've made the worst list, I'm still wondering how Speed Racer managed to avoid it's inclusion as the absolute worst! That and Sandler's horrendous Zohan movie.

Daniel Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 03:06 PM EST

I'm proud to say that I've seen 25, or exactly half, of the best, and zero of the worst. Although a couple of them ("The Happening", "Meet Dave") are on my Netflix queue.

ali Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 03:05 PM EST

SATC was way better than Indiana Jones. It should have made the list!

PaperBoy Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 03:04 PM EST

I saw 32 of the best & 4 of the worst. However, the 2 actual worst films of the year didn't make the list: Funny Games & Seven Pounds. DREADFUL!

Snarf Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 02:56 PM EST

shockingly I've only seen 4 of 'em.

Kate Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 02:50 PM EST

21 best, 5 worst. but would completely agree they're the worst. i laughed way more at the happening than love guru, now that's sad!

ia Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 02:49 PM EST

Really...only 10 stinkers? I can think of scads more that I didn't see besides the 10
listed. Of the best films...I saw (so far) only two..."Mama Mia" and "Rachel Getting Married." But I would put "Mama Mia" on the stinkers list. It was terrible!!!

KOZ Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 02:48 PM EST

Okay I liked Iron Man but come on #1?

Chris Price Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 02:40 PM EST

I'd like to note that I've seen 9 of their top 10 and the only one I haven't seen is not out until Xmas day (Button).

Chris Price Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 02:39 PM EST

33 of the best and 1 of the worst. There are 14 films from their best list that I would see and a few you couldn't pay me to watch (well, actually I would accept money to watch almost anything). Some of these movies haven't opened near me yet or near anyone yet for that matter (although it will be 34 tonight as I'm seeing Doubt).

Patty Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 02:38 PM EST

I've seen 9 of the best and 0 of the worst, although I would have considered Burn Before Reading one of the worst because that movie was terrible. I also don't agree with Iron Man being #1, The Dark Knight was way better. There are several of the best that have yet to make it to my theater.

wg Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 02:30 PM EST

3 of the best. 0 of the worst. 2 not mentioned at all. And of course I wouldn't even remotely agree with their ranking. How on earth was it based?

josh Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 02:27 PM EST

i completely agree that "the happening" was the worst movie of the year. "the house bunny" was up there too, but "the happening" was painful! never have i seen a movie in the theatre, where people were so obviously laughing at the serious scenes. zooey deschanel ruined the movie, because she was horribly mis-cast. mark wahlberg was laugh-out-loud bad in it too. it's "showgirls" bad.

mister f Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 02:25 PM EST

Wow, Moviefone seems to be sleeping with Robert Downey Jr.

Dan Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 02:21 PM EST

23 of the best, 2 of the worst. Iron Man as #1? Really? It was good, but the best -- not even close. It is quickly becoming the most overrated movie this year.

I am an ABBA fan, but I would not call Mama Mia one of the best movies this year. The film is about the songs, that's it. Moreover, Pierce Brosnan should be arrested for vocal assault! Kevin Klein has a much better voice.

I have not seen any of the bad films. I will most likely wait until they are on cable.

17 of the Best. #1 of the Worst. Still waiting for other "bests" to come out in my area.

Only 17 of the 50, but that should shoot up to more than 30 once the good ones like The Wrestler and Gran Torino start coming to my city.

Glad to say I saw none on the Worst list.

24 of the Best, 0 of the worst (thank goodness). Dismayed not to see Hamlet 2 on the list. It was highly under appreciated.

I've seen 38 on their best list (with 3 on there that haven't been released yet) and 4 of the worst. Guess I'm doing my part for the economy.
