My God, I am amazed at the comments on both sides of the religious floor from the evangelical born again fanatic, to the non believer. This article is about a woman who, suffered through the break down of 3 marriages, did have mental stresses, sexual abuse as a child. But it is also a story of human triumph. In 1996 - I was honored to have had the opportunity... to be the only TV reporter to ever be granted a lengthy "In-Depth" interview by Bettie Page about her life.

On the surface - she was a 50's pin-up icon who's image is admired and revered to this day. She was the epitome of naughty and nice in her photos.... and the inspiration for a major motion picture on her life titled, "The Notorious Bettie Page".

But there was nothing remotely "notorious" about Bettie. She was truly a sweet southern gal - that was undeniably sexy. Her interview can be seen on YouTube under the title: REAL Bettie Page Interview: Her Life In Her Own Words.

HolyCow, I agree with you. We are in brisk social decline which historically precedes a society's disintegration. Examples of hedonism and violent culture can be seen in the vanished Mayans' remains, and in ancient Rome before its overthrow also. Our men were systematically demoralized by social activities that undermined or attacked (as you see right now on this Comment space) womens' relative dominance, and were insensitive to objectification and health risks for women incidental to male sexual pleasure. I think spreading the killer virus HPV should be punishable by law because it kills so many women. Knowingly spreading AIDS can get someone 99 years in prison. HPV kills only women so there is no punishment.

She had a great life & left an impression. That is a good thing. So leave politics out of it!! Both the Repubs & the Dems are to blame for this mess. Barney Frank, more than most. She had a troubled childhood, she did office work, she posed naked, she had bad luck in marriage, she had difficulties with mental illness. These are all things that have happened to tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands, of people throughout history. She wasn't "evil", folks -- she was a regular human being. My sense here is there's got to be something wrong with organized religion these days if it's churning out such nasty, judgmental people who write junk in online forums.
