'Twilight': So how did you like it? (Spoiler alert, duh!)

Nov 22, 2008, 10:30 PM | by Amy Wilkinson

Categories: Everyone's a Critic, Film, Twilight

Twilightkiss_l After what felt like an eternity-long wait (we feel your pain, Edward), we finally got to sink our teeth into the highly anticipated Twilight movie this weekend. So it's about time we have a spoilerific discussion of one of the biggest films of the fall.

I've seen the vamp flick twice so far -- once at a press screening and later during the midnight release -- and I'm surprised by what a difference the audience can make. During the first show, with a crowd mostly made up of journalists and a few lucky fans who nabbed spare seats, the mood was fairly sedate. Sure, there were a few woots and hand claps when Robert Pattison first appeared on screen, but that was about it. I left the theater pretty jazzed about what I had just seen. But after attending Thursday's midnight showing, where gaggles of girls giggled throughout the entire film -- frequently during parts that weren't intended to be funny -- I felt slightly less enthused. Perhaps I'm easily influenced, or perhaps the movie doesn't hold up to a second viewing, but after twirl No. 2 with Twilight, the movie seemed cheesier than I had remembered. That said, I do like the movie overall. But what about you? I'll start our rehash with a few of my specific likes and dislikes, after the jump.

LIKES:
Fairly faithful adaptation -- It's no easy task winnowing a 500-page novel into a two-hour movie, but I think screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg did a good job. All of the pivotal scenes are there -- Port Angeles, the meadow, the baseball game -- and although certain events happen out of sequence (like Bella meeting Jacob during her first day in Forks), I don't think it damages the integrity of the story.

The supporting cast -- Billy Burke's portrayal of Bella's uptight police-chief father garnered the most laughs from me. Subtle, yet funny, like the scene where he's cleaning his shotgun. Anna Kendrick, who plays Jessica, and Michael Welch, who portrays Mike, are also standouts. The duo add some much-needed comic relief to the otherwise somber script. (But I would have liked to hear more from the Cullens. Poor Jasper and Emmett have, like, two lines each.)

The beer -- Okay, this is totally silly, and I'm probably the only one to notice or care, but Charlie always has a Rainier beer in his hand. As a native Washingtonian whose grandpa was a big Rainier beer fan, this kinda makes me happy.

Miscellaneous likes -- Edward looking like he's going to barf when he first catches Bella's scent (very human response), the mortar board wall installation, the Cullens' house (love me some picture windows), the baseball scene

DISLIKES:
The special effects -- Granted the film had a smallish $37 million budget, but seriously, the "dazzling in the sun" Edward is totally messed up. My colleague Jean likens the effect to an overly generous slathering of shimmer body lotion, while I think it looks more like a billowy veil from a bedazzled belly dancer's costume.

The overacting -- Especially during my second viewing, I really felt like I was watching many of the actors give a performance, not embody a character. Kristen Stewart's sputtering, especially during the hospital scene, really started to grate on me by the end.

All right, Twilighters, that's my two cents. It's your turn to have at it. What did you like/dislike? Which of your favorite scenes were left out? Did Robert Pattinson's hair have you swooning? And are you craving a(n inevitable) sequel...or not?

I saw the movie before I read the books and enjoyed it so much that I saw it 9 times at the cinema, bad make-up and all. I think what people are not understanding is that a budget of 37 million is a drop in the pan in Hollywood. New Moon also only has a budget of 50 million. Summit, if you want to do these wonderful books justice, then give them the money they need to produce a fantastic movie instead of a great one. Thank you Rob for bringing Edward to life and I look forward to seeing more of Taylor in New Moon.

i love that movie very much.i really love jacob black and edward cullen.it the best movie i seen in a long time and i can not wait till new moon come out

Maddison Sat, Apr 25, 2009 at 08:52 PM EST

my personal opinion is that the movie sucked. the book wasn't too bad but the movie was like a little (when i say little i mean minisqule) crumb of a cupcake compared to a awesome, supermasive, gigantic cheesecake. What i mean is some like cheesecake others want the cupcake crumb. i myself like the cheesecake, don't you? (Yes i am hungry)

I don't know if it was better to have read the book or not, it helped you understand what the movie left out, but there is no comparison. Being there was a small budget, they did the best they could do. I loved the casting, Rob Pattinson played a perfect Edward and I really wish the deleted scenes had been left in. I'm a mom and enjoyed the movie with my kids. Waiting for New Moon.

Kassie Thu, Apr 16, 2009 at 04:27 AM EST

I will always be a Twilight fan but I do say that the movie was nothing to the book. First they got the hair for Edward wrong and they skipped most of the good parts. Don't get me wrong though, I still think that Robert Patterson is cute but they could have picked a better person to play him. I LOVE Twilight and i will for a long time, but the movie still was nothing but an atom next to the bestselling, tall prided, perfect, spectacular and completly addictive book.

shelby Sun, Apr 12, 2009 at 05:43 PM EST

i personally didnt like the movie one bit i thought it was very cheesy and the script sucked...the actors were not very good. it was like twilight was everyones first movie...the fact that you could see the makeup and contacts was very sloppy and they left out some very important parts like when she sat with him the first day in the cafeteria...and the meadow i felt the scene was too short and they didnt talk at all...the movie was boring although i did love the soundtrack. i thought the actors except for rob were very hot..i thought rob was hot at first but not really anymore...they couldve gotten someone better looking and a more experienced actor...as for bella...she is pretty much how i pictured her but she isnt a very good actress...everyone else was about right and not totally terrible.

Cris

Yeah, I mentioned it a couple times in a different forum that they should've hired a different person/crew to do makeup. Peter F. I could def. tell had a thick layer of it on. Whoever did Stuart Townsend's in Queen of the Damned, should be hired. His looks like a natural pale white, not the obvious caked on makeup.

liz Fri, Mar 27, 2009 at 04:04 PM EST

I HATED KIRSTEN STUART..she's a horrible actress..besides carlisle nd jacob, they all were mediocre actors..i think Rob pretty much carried them all.. he was the only one worth watching.. not cus he's hot i don't think he's attractive at all but he's a good actor.. I loved the basebal scene..it was so accurate..everything else suked..though i knew it'd be a horrible movie considering how long and AWESOME the books are.. i still watched it and since i know New Moon's gonna suck in comparison as well.. I'll be at the midnight show for sure..

Arnie Thu, Mar 26, 2009 at 06:53 PM EST

I can't believe that I've hardly heard any complaints about the make-up. That was a huge distraction for me. White faces, tan/beige necks and upper chests....it was like the vampire characters had masks on. And Carlisle needed some serious exfoliation! The red lipstick on Edward was way too much as well.

CJ Wed, Mar 25, 2009 at 09:14 AM EST

I read all the books and enjoyed them. I have seen the movie many times. Kristen Stewart not my favorite. Some of my family and friends had not read the books and they did have alot of questions, which of course I was able to explain. I know you can not get everything from the book into the movie but alot of key parts were left out. Harry Potter films were true to the book. You could understand the movies even if you did not read the books. So what if they were alittle long. TThought the Cullen and Hale casting was great. They needed more screen time though. Ashley Green was adorable as Alice. They were all pretty much what I imagined from the book. Am anxious to see the relationship between Bella & Jacob. Hopefully Kristen will get a clue by then. I am 59 years old and a big fan of Twilight movies and books. ALso Harry potter where I first saw Rob Pattinson.

Angel. Mon, Mar 23, 2009 at 10:22 PM EST

heidi, haha...i didn't know if it was pit stains or just wicked random shadows.

Heidi Mon, Mar 23, 2009 at 07:08 AM EST

Ok, am I the only one who noticed that Edward totally had pit stains in the cafeteria scene?!?! Vampires don't sweat, how on earth did they miss that in the editing room???

hannah Sun, Mar 22, 2009 at 11:36 AM EST

ok i loved the book... but really the movie had me dissapointed and ummmm....
i just... i couldn't get over the fact that they never siad i love you in the film i mean i know if i would've saw that movie.. i would've just thought he was overprotective.. or something.. i just didn't like i just wanted more chemistry..... and i wish we could see more of a friendship between allison and her.. really i think it was good except the directing... but i love the bookz and the movie was not better than titanic.
but the second one better be

jealousofbella12 Sat, Mar 21, 2009 at 01:46 PM EST

i really enjoyed it, even though in some of the scenes the acting was, well, really bad. plus, i can't believe that they took out the blood type scene!!! instead thy replaced it with their field trip or whatever. but it was still good, and can i say, Robert Pattinson was HOTT!!!! =]

Rachel Sat, Mar 21, 2009 at 02:58 AM EST

Saw the movie twice, hated it both times. I went hoping it wouldn't be as bad as the previews made it look, and it was (very sadly) just as disappointing. It's true, the scenes they took out were key to the character's and plot's development.
My favorite scene was one of them--I was totally looking forward to Edward and Bella's conversation in the car about his being a vampire and how it didn't matter!
Side note, I'm also of the 18+ crowd (barely ^_^) and was extremely put off by the complete "teen girl flick" feel the movie had.

Sammm_Cullen Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 06:03 AM EST

i though the movie was gr8, but it defs didnt match the trailers or the way i thought itd be. i agree, charlie was the best! gr8 acting overall i think, maybe a little OTT by K Stew but she still did gr8! cant wait for the dvd comin out in like a month in aus :( lucky americans....o well, its not 2 long. the ballet scene, the jump james did...he like jumped then dipped then went bak up again! understandably they couldnt get it perfect but that 1 bit bugged me. the chemisty between edward and bella was pretty good, but i didnt feel the love as much as i thought i shouldve...they didnt say 'i love you' once! the kiss was...well....steamy wooo! lol it was gr8, should SO win best kiss at mtv awards!
rob.pattinson.
i think thats enough said? love him 2 bits! gr8 work rob!

cant wait 4 the sequel, i can tell its gunna be GR8!!!

Isabella Tue, Mar 17, 2009 at 08:46 PM EST

Ok I As Always Think The Book Is Better ..Duh!! But They Did Leave Some Of The Important Parts Out.And Edward Was So Rude To Her.They Even Added Some Parts. They Got It All Wrong Like They Did Not Even Mansion The ''Girls Ask-Out Dance'' They Jumped Right Into Prom... I Mean C'mon. Well I Hope They Get 'New Moon ' Right This Time..... That's All I Have To Say =)

Angel. Tue, Mar 10, 2009 at 12:56 PM EST

Okay, so i've just about read everyone's opinion on Twilight; the movie and the book. I really do have one thing to say. OF COURSE the book is going to have more detail than the movie. ...IT'S A BOOK. Look at Tuesdays with Morrie. The book was, of course, more detailed than the movie. That's just the way it is. The books have to be more detailed. It's in fine print. The movie wasn't bad in one bit. Movies are cheesy, or mis-lead or even sometimes over-played. But, look at the big picture here. The movie reflected the book in most ways. The book has more information just because it's a book. That's just the way things are.

Angel. Tue, Mar 10, 2009 at 12:48 PM EST

As for my dislikes; it was sort of difficult to understand why Edward and Bella never actually said i love you to each other. But, i figured that...those in love do not have to say it to know. Edward and Bella, it was clearly seen that they cared for each other more than most. So, all those who think that reassuring each other with those three words was needed; I have to disagree with you. Wasn't it obvious that they shared something more than love? Anyway. The movie was entirely amazing.

Angel. Tue, Mar 10, 2009 at 12:44 PM EST

I absolutely loved the movie. I see the book as something to answer the questions that the movie left out. Overall, the book was an addicting reading. I could not put it down. The movie did literally have me at the edge of my seat. As a common love-struck girl, I definitely had googly eyes for Edward. Bella, I believe, is incredibly lucky. I am absolutely thrilled about Twilight and am looking forward to New Moon.

BJ Sat, Mar 7, 2009 at 04:24 AM EST

How about the part where she's at the police station with Charlie and she hugs him! They're relationship was always awkward and somewhat embarrassing. And the parts that portray Bella as a caretaker. Where she's always making dinner for her dad. Not always meeting at a diner. What a rip off.

BJ Sat, Mar 7, 2009 at 04:20 AM EST

Alice, I love you! You are totally right. The movie was an embarrassment.

Alice Cullen Wed, Feb 25, 2009 at 09:48 PM EST

I agree with Alice

Alice Tue, Feb 24, 2009 at 09:24 PM EST

its was okay.
i am COMPLETELY A TWILIGHT FAN NO MATTER WAT but it wasnt very good.
-no "i love you"
-the movie was rushed for 2 hours when they could have gone to 3 like other movies (harry potter)
-too much improvisations instead of the book as the script which would have been a perfectly good screen play to work off of.
-the supporting casting was not bad.
-the scenes that were key were lacking the details found in the book =(
-i actually found it more funny then touching, laughing at the awkwardness between edward and bella just because it was funny..and it wasnt just me, the whole theater had also been dying of laughter!
-im content about the movie, it could have been better but i'll 100% still go to see the new moon, without a doubt. cant wait for the production from the new director.

Alice Tue, Feb 24, 2009 at 07:57 PM EST

I thought the movie was good, but the book was better. I was kind of disappionted how rushed everything was. Edward and Bella never say i love you and all that other stuff. Kristen blinked too much and Rob seemed kind of dry. The other Cullens and Hales should have been in the movie more. But I have to say that Jasper was hilarious! Anyone remember when Bella firstcame over to thier house and Jasper made a funny face? Alice and the others did a good job, and Carslie's hair wasn't that bad as a lot of people say it is. But the movie should have been longer so that they'd have room for all the important stuff.

Lizzie McLovin Tue, Feb 24, 2009 at 04:22 PM EST

The Movie was good, but not as good as the book. And I still think the book is better than the movie. It was too fast, edward and bella's relationship they bearly talk, spend time together, and most importantly they never did tell each other they were in love with each other, also there was less explaintion in the movie than the book. I love the movie and I still watch it but i'm depressed of how the movie was too fast. So when the next movie is out, which it is "New Moon" don't let that movie be too fast because the fans will be depressed too.

OMG! i cannot believe they didn't add the line "do i dazzle you?" it's like my favorite part in the book!!!!! ughhhh......they better not kill the second movie!!!!

Gabrielle Fri, Feb 20, 2009 at 06:50 PM EST

I totally agree with the everyone who says Kristin Stewart was completely over-acting. Im mean, the hospital scene? C'mon. And i didn't like how Edward always looked so mean. I guess i liked the movie but I think that's mostly because I absolutely love the books. Anyway, hopefully the special effects will be MUCH better in New Moon, because the sparkle thing was just retarded looking.

Alice Cullen Thu, Feb 19, 2009 at 11:09 PM EST

exactly! I didn't realize any of that! (except for the Billy thing) and that's the reason she got the truck!

mj Thu, Feb 19, 2009 at 10:41 PM EST

*new moon spoiler alert* What i really didnt like was that the movie stole some direct plotlines from new moon! like the "animal attatcks" which were supposed to be James' clan. there was no point for that, and it will probably be repeated for new moon(bears). also, charlies friend(whoever that was supposed to be) died in the movie, and of course, one of charlies friends dies later in the series and is much more important. besides that, i hope the new director has enough sense not to put Billy Black behing the wheel of a car when hes supposed to be in a wheelchair.

Alice Cullen Thu, Feb 19, 2009 at 08:55 PM EST

of course, we can blame most of this on the writing and directing, I think Chris Weitz will do a better job on New Moon than Hardwicke did on Twilight

Alice Cullen Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 09:58 PM EST

if you had read the books first, you would have seen this all very differently, I know people who only saw the movie and directly went to the new moon book and I laughed at them and said that the movie is so much different from the book, because it is. I agree with the fact that the film can straighten out the faults, like in the 1st one, when Bella was going through the bathroom with the 2 doors, and Alice never saw that, which she would have. They completely cut that from the movie. Just cut out all the vamp-less parts of New Moon and I'll be happy

Alice Cullen Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 09:58 PM EST

I agree with Jessica and what she had to say about the acting of Kristen very dry.An did anybody else notice the bliking of her eyes going a hundred miles an hour?I do think that she thought she was trying to be sexy there.(NOT)She did the samething in the movie Jumper.Good thing it was the last 20 seconds of the movie.

tina Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 08:56 AM EST

I saw the film first and read all 4.5 books later (in a week), so I think they complement each other, in a way that they should represent the same thing in different ways, rather than be either-or, or that we should follow how close a dramatisation os to a book, just because it came first...I see them as different interpetations of the same -well "Twilight universe" as SM puts it, because it is a universe of characters and story, where our imagiantion keeps adding stuff of our own and replays conversations and actions, and we want to be there...the books have their faults and I think the movie-form can compensate/correct the story by making it more focused and condensed- and even taking the love story to other dimensions than the books did (off with the "I love you" and in with the bedroom scene)- cause that's how teenagers can visualize the love story and imagine themselves in it (substituting Edward for the boy we're crushing on), and not looking at it as this impossible love story

SARAHJANE Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 12:17 AM EST

I agree with most of this - Kirsten Stewart looks right, but isn't at all self-effacing and has no sense of humor, which Bella has in spades. Between that and the script, her falling for Edward seems completely random and unbelievable. It would have been well worth a longer movie to try and build a vaguely credible romantic relationship between the two leads. Bella's schoolmates were awesome, but the Cullen family was dreadful - Rosalie is supposed to be GORGEOUS! And you get no sense of them. On the bright side, Jacob rocks and clearly has chemistry with Kirsten, and the guy who plays Bella's dad is similarly terrific. Hopefully the new director will be able to get a better performance from Stewart and pull off a better script. They should just have Stephenie Meyer write the script, I am sure it would be much better!

Alice Cullen Mon, Feb 16, 2009 at 01:05 PM EST

There are 5 deleted and 5 extended scenes on the DVD

Aaron Mon, Feb 16, 2009 at 12:46 AM EST

I watched the movie this evening, and after reading the first 3 books already, I was really disappointed in the way the movie played out. I understand that it was shrunk to a 2 hour film, but the should of went for 3. This way they could have stayed true to the vision. The acting of Bella was terrible, and Edward, although gorgeous, was a bit dry. I loved jasper, he portrayed a "new vegetarian" very well. Alice should have been more involved as well. The baseball game scene was nice, but the cut from meeting James' clan to killing him, occurred way to quickly, there was WAY more detail in the book. They really need to stick back to the vision of Stephanie Meyer. Bella was not plain enough, the relationship was bland and dry, not enough emotion. I did love Carlisle and Esme. They were a hit above the rest. Edward should of killed Bella in the film so we wouldn't have to endure her being so whiny. I just hope the next 3 films don't show her as whiney as the book.

i was really disappointed about one thing in particular-they never said 'i love you' straight out. did anyone else notice that? that makes it not seem as intense as the relationship really was.
:/

the funniest parts were left out, like tyler and the prom. [btw, tyler wasn't played very well]
and when Edward says, "What am I going to do with you? ... Yesterday I kiss you, and you attack me! Today you pass out on me!"
hahaha. whew.

I hate how there was zero background music and i could here them breathing. it was exactly like thirteen...kind of bad. I think the new director for new moon will do a lot better because the golden compass was veri impressive. I wish they had the part when edward invited her to his table cause that part in the book i loved. And the science one when she almost passes out and he carries her to the nurse. I didn't really like Edward in the movie because in the book he is just humorous towards Bella's clumsiness and in the book he is much much more smarter then he was in the movie. in the movie he seemed like a real creep especially when he said, "I like to watch you sleep." Or whatever but anyways it was creepy the way he said it. And their conversations with eachother were not as awkward as they were in the movie i mean in the book they clicked completely their conversations flowed nicely and the movie didn't.

WHEN I WATCHED THE MOVIE THE FIRST TIME, MY THOUGHTS WERE LIKE-- AH, OK..THAT'S IT? BUT THEN I WATCHED IT FOR THE 2ND TIME, I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT. THE 3RD, 4TH & 5TH TIME, I KNEW I HAD TO READ THE BOOK. AND SO I DID. AND IN A WEEK TIME, I JUGGLED 3 KIDS, HOUSE CHORES, WORKING, AND READING THE ENTIRE SAGA IN A WEEK!!!

Also-the music kind of detracted from the movie most of the time. I understand they wanted to make it kind of teenage-y, young, and "hip" but it was just cheesy, instead. I liked the Muse song during the basebasll game, and the opening music, but the rest just seemed over the top. Oh, and that weird twinkling, chime music that happens whenever Edward is in the sun... totally hilarious. He just looks sweaty, not particularly sparkly. Loved Taylor Lautner! After watching the movie a second time, I think his acting is perfect, he totally nails it. Alice and Jasper were perfect, spot on. I loved Jasper the most, it was great. I know lots of people don't like Carlisle's hair, but without it he wouldn't look like Carlisle. And Nikki really is pretty, I think the only reason she looks bad is because they tried to take a tan brunette and make her into an albino blonde. Not really a recipe for beauty. They could have saved themselved the trouble and picked an actual blonde.

Well... I thought it was alright. I loved the books, they're incredible, but the movie?? Really?? Ugh. I loved all the casting but Kristen Stewart was driving me INSANE. Did anyone else notice that the most emotion she showed in the whole thing was when Edward was trying to buckle her in after the baseball scene, and and yelled something like "I got it!" Up til that point, everything was completely flat and lifeless. It sounded like she was reading. And the scene in the hospital... yikes. I think "over-acting" is an understatement. I love Rob Pattinson, of course (who doesn't??), but I wasn't overly impressed. He and Kristen were kind of awkward, and he portrayed Edward a little darker/angsty-er than I'd have liked. He wasn't the confident Edward I imagined. His acting was also a bit stiff, but I think that's partly because he was focusing on the accent too much to work on inflection and stuff. All in all... eh. I'm looking forward to New Moon, a new director will probably help.

lol I totally agree!!! looks wise, Kristen is okay for Bella but voice and everything defidently not...Rob can look really bad sometimes...the rest we can blame on the directing. The new director, Chris has promised to stick to the book, but then again, so did Hardwicke

Amy ANotMuchFan Fri, Feb 13, 2009 at 10:58 PM EST

I TRULY, did not like the casting Edward nd Bella. They are both POT HEAD, EZward is NOT the szexy beast he is supposzed to be, and Bella has a MAN voice..just saying. And the final result came off as a grade 11 student fiml = AWFUL. It was thrown together and did NOT EVEN ONE BIT resemble the book. Alhough i didnt mind the others actors. They were descent. I love howz everyone says it was gret when it was..just..i have no words for this catastraphy. I wish thye would recast them. If they did that and used actualy wordsz from the actual book, mabey itwouldnt piss me off as much. Hopig to see improvment in the next one..but yes of course i have my pitchfork juusst in case..

Madena Coffee Fri, Feb 13, 2009 at 07:03 PM EST

I rad the books in about 2 weeks, just captavative in them but the movie left much to desire in the sense of it didnt follow the book well and killed it in some area's like the Cullen's home, the meadow and seeing Edward "sparkle like diamonds", and I thought the baseball game was cheesie. I am hoping this new director does great compared to the last one. I really enjoyed his work on some of his other movies, I feel there is great hope and outlook for his addition to the "New Moon" family of cast.

completely agree about how the bad bits were the directors fault, next one should be better. But i do think that Kristin Stewart didn't represent Bella particularly well, thought she looked the part though. Robert Pattinson was good as Edward, thought he did quite a convincing American accent (in relation to some comments below).

I agree with the Midnight Sun thing, and I'm getting more used to Stewart as Bella

Fantaz Thu, Feb 12, 2009 at 02:04 PM EST

I have been reading trought the comments on this page and find myself disagreeing alot. I was wondering why when it occured to me. Has anyone read Midnight Sun? If you do you will realize that Kristen Stewart nailed the role of Bella. alot of her awkwardness is not seen when the books is from her point of view. When you read about her through Edwards point of view you will see that she is just like that. Although I will admit the stuttering hospital seen was not very "Bella" however I dont blame that on Stewart i blame that on the director. I really like Rob P. as an actor but I dont think he played Edward well. I do however think he will be more comfortable playing Edwar in New Moon. Again I feel his poor over acting was a directing error. I have seen the movie six times and read all 4.5 books more than that. I know it sounds obssesive but I really wanted to get to know the characters and SM's writting style. I have dedcided to stop judging the cast and blame the director.Thinkaboutit

DID FORGET TO SAY THOUGH, THE DANCE SCENE AT THE END OF THE MOVIE WAS BEAUTIFULL..............LOVED THAT, AND THE SCENERY , GOURGOUS

jeannie Thu, Feb 12, 2009 at 12:41 PM EST

I THOUGHT THE MOVIE WAS TERRIBLE....THE BOOKS ARE FANTASTIC...........THE ACTING , AWKWARD................THE PLOT, JUMPED FROM ONE THNG TO ANOTHER TO FAST............CHANGED TO MUCH OF THE THINGS THAT WERE IMPORTANT IN THE BOOK..............THE CULLEN MANSION, WHAT WAS THAT ................IT SURE WASNT THE HUGE OLD WHITE MANSION IN THE BOOKS........OH WELL HOPE THE NEXT ONE IS BETTER..................

It was a good movie, i liked it a lot! And Robert Pattinson is gorgeous! But they missed out alot of important scenes and information. Everything just revolved around edward and bella! they barely showed any of the other characters!
So im a big disspointed abt that...
for eg: Alice and her story.
Tyler asking bella to the prom.
Jacob dancing with bella at the prom. and just so many other scenes. i know they had a budget but they could have made it work by cutting very small and unnecessary scenes.

well i don't agree, i don't think Kristin Stewart wasn't particularly great in Panic room either. And Rosalie is meant to be like amazingly beautiful and yes Niki reed is beautiful but not quite the same way Rosalie is.
Thought Rob Pattinson's accent was quite good personally, compared to most American actors that attempt to sound British. They always sound ridiculously posh. Thats not how any of my Brit friends sound.

Kristen Stewart can act, she just isn't a good Bella and she's always stuttering... Nikki Reed was good as Rosalie, but they should have done her hair differently (style wise) Peter Facinelli was great as Carlisle (love him in Can't Hardly Wait!!!) and Elizabeth Reaser was great as Esme... sometimes you could hear Rob's British accent and that was annoying...
