Categories: PopWatch Quote of the Day

"There's no way on earth we're gonna get outta here tonight. We'd have more luck playing Pick-Up Sticks with our butt cheeks than we will getting a flight out of here before daybreak." -- Del Griffin (John Candy) in Planes, Trains and Automobiles. (Fast-forward to 0:37 in the embedded clip to watch the late, great Candy in action. PS: Shouldn't this movie be shown on a 24-hour loop every Thanksgiving holiday, a la A Christmas Story? It's an underrated holiday classic.)

this movie is great! john candy selling the bathroom curtain rings was great and the most priceless moment for me was when the car caught on fire and they're driving down the highway in it and the police stop them.lol.

i actually have the opposite opinion of this movie. it has a few moments, but overall I thought it was brutal. I've never understood why everyone claims it to be a great movie. The way it is described/made makes it seem to be my kind of movie. I just rewatched it recently in hopes of changing my mind, but no such luck. just my take on it.

You're absolutely right Nicholas. I love this movie. Also, funny part when Steve Martin blows up at the car rental place and drops the f-bomb constantly. (gotta love Edie McClurg) It is your typical travel hell day and we've all had them.
