Elisabeth Hasselbeck eats post-election crow on 'The View'

Nov 5, 2008, 02:56 PM | by Abby West

Categories: Haberdashery

I know. The election is over, there's hope in the air, and it's time for conciliation and unification. So is it wrong that I got more than a little personal glee out of watching Elisabeth Hasselbeck, a (frequently irritatingly) vocal McCain supporter, fall in line behind president-elect Barack Obama? I do applaud her poignant story about what she told her daughter this morning, but I'm mostly glad that The View, which I usually enjoy (make fun all you want), won't make my blood pressure skyrocket anymore...at least for now. And if you're still feeling emotional about the events of the last 24 hours, Sherri Shepherd's bit at the end of the clip might make you choke up a little, like my man Michael Slezak did.

Where did Elisabeth get all so called Political Experience from!? She has mentioned the Kennedy era, but she wasn't even born yet.

Jo Fri, Feb 13, 2009 at 11:31 AM EST

There is nothing wrong with Elizabeth. She is just stating her opinion. I think Joy is the one that is disrespectful and wants to force her opinion on everyone. I almost always agree with what Whoopy has to say. She is the best.

elisabeth... Fri, Feb 6, 2009 at 11:58 PM EST

is allowed to spew her racist, hate-filled venom everyday because the producer of the show, bill geddie, is a right wing nut. she also gets her daily dose of talking points from sean hannity each morning before the show airs. she needs to go NOW.

FED UP Fri, Feb 6, 2009 at 03:59 PM EST

Elizabeth gets on my last nerve. It doesn't matter what good things OBAMA might do she still won't like him. Her idol as far as I can see is dippy Sarah Palin. She can do no wrong in Elizabeth's eyes. I too would like to see her go but don't see it happening. I think she is rude and doesn't have any respect for her fellow co-workers. If I were Joy I would just want to slap her sometimes. I wish Barbara Walters would wake up and see that Elizabeth is not adding anything to the show she is just one big annoying distraction.

Pepe Wed, Feb 4, 2009 at 11:27 AM EST

Why is Elizabeth still on the show? Her mindless, arrogant and uninformed comments demeans the show. I know Barbara actually agrees with many of her statements, but she's just as shallow as Hasslething.Disgusted

Pammy Wed, Feb 4, 2009 at 05:36 AM EST

And by the way- I love every one on the view irrespective of their political affliation.

I am only sick of the "micro focus" on views when there is more at stake here.
Are we all waiting for the "Green - Man" to tell us how to live with integrity - values that promote lasting legacies for those coming after us. If we want our children to stay strong and contribute positively to their society we had better start promoting livable values that would make them thrive.

JackSparrow Tue, Feb 3, 2009 at 07:08 PM EST

Vernon, you don't even know the definition of Socialism, so keep you uninformed opinions where they belong; in the dark, empty cavern inside your skull.

Vernon Tue, Feb 3, 2009 at 07:02 PM EST

For all of you sheep who suckle the liberal tit please wake up! Elizabeth is allowed to have an opinion no matter how irritating you think she is. We aren't socialist yet.

Pammy Tue, Feb 3, 2009 at 05:38 PM EST

Teri
Feel comfortable in your skin - If people other than your skin tone vote for a particular candidate what crime have they committed that is so wrong.

If you want to go down that road - Can you go back to the majority of the skin tone that is creating the mess we are now in . Remenber Enron!!

Bush (yes Bush)was judged more on some other key issues .

I find it so offensive that people like you should come down on people on welfare when it is your sort that put them there in the first place. If you people are paying your tax, fairer and recognise people who are less well off and look for ways of educating them - We won't be in this mess.

For the record I am an accountant - volunteer monthly by helping the homeless (black & white) inclusive - by feeding them and educating you might take a leaf from that instead of irrelevant statistics - What have you done today to make you feel proud

Pammy Tue, Feb 3, 2009 at 04:44 PM EST

I think every one on the view should have a reality check.
I have been trying to understand the purpose of the program but I can't seem to follow the "mind-set"

EH makes it worse by getting irate at the best of times - I don't really know which party she subcribes to Left or Right Wing - Pure Motives? Mixed Agenda , Political Spin, Repressed childhood ideology, Us against them - What is she about?

She doesn't have to hide behind any political party to promote her views.
And don't call it her Christian values - Does she know the meaning of the word value?

I don't think this is political or Christian. I think it is much deeper and it is ugly.

In this current climate - discussions should be on views that nudges people to think deeply, re-examine their lives and pursue greater goals that would contribute immensely to the Countris GDP and RB.

I use to be a Conservative, then a Democrat. I grew up - I soon found out it has nothing to do with which party leads. Wisdom

The Seeker Tue, Feb 3, 2009 at 12:44 AM EST

Elizabeth is a good example of what is wrong in America. Only believes what some man tells her because she is too f'ing stupid to have her own views. She is a good example of herd mentality and an embarrassment to women.

judith Mon, Feb 2, 2009 at 01:51 PM EST

elizabeth is why i will no longer watch the view. while i love whoopi I can no longer listen to the hate that is embedded in elizabeth. Her views on torture to taxes is so far to the right with no room for compramize. I pray that finds a heartand goes home to spend some time with her family

Tracey Mon, Feb 2, 2009 at 11:35 AM EST

Elisabeth is so irritating. The woman doesn't make a sound argument half the time and is also ALWAYS on the defensive, even when nobody is picking on her. Coming from a republican, she needs to get that chip off her shoulder and become a better listener (which means to have an OPEN MIND)!! Or even better yet, get replaced on "The View" show with a more intelligent republican.

jen Mon, Feb 2, 2009 at 11:25 AM EST

Who cares that hasselback is a conservative? She needs to be fired because she's rude, arrogant, interupts constantly and worst of all she thinks she's so intelligent and she's just an idiot. Every time she opens her mouth it shows. Why does she get away with this? I think Barbara may need to retire if she doesn't see this.

sam Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 07:37 PM EST

MEG-seriously Elizabeth is not middle of the road. She is way over to the right. Get it straight!

megg Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 05:09 PM EST

i like elisabeth...she's the only middle (though more right-winged) person on a show full of total left-wing liberals.

S. Ramos Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 05:03 PM EST

I was a young democrat but now I am an older non-staunch republican ( concerning some spiritually basic laws) I'll bet we were all like Elizabeth when we were young democrats. She is the youngest on the show and just trying to hold her own integrity but unfortunately reacting instead of proacting. The national dept is almost $11 trillion dollars. Our poorly serving Congress has been recklessy spending our money faster than we can print it. It was $4 trillion in 1991. Social Security and Medicare are about to collapse and President Obama promised nearly $1.3 trillion in new spending. We owe China more than half a trillion dollars.Deomocracy is the best form of government when truly is run by fiscally wide unselfish people but stinks when run by the big businesses of bought out governmental leaders which may well have ruined it beyond repair. Winston Churchill said "For a nation to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handl

carol Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 11:12 AM EST

I love the view and that is why it is that, turn the channel, does Elisabeth get on my nerves with passed talk about Bush yes but she has the right to speak and have an opinion just like us. I voted for Obama but she is a strong republican so respect that as US Citizens. OH please about her child getting pregnant years from now, lets just in stead focus on our own children for once and stop caring about what the celebrity people will do with theirs.

Re The View on 1/22/2009, I was frankly appalled to see the display of the couple with 17 children. Without Elizabeth, I feel it would never have been shown, especially on the day The World celebrates as significant for the Majority who want More, not less, birth control and who Intelligently "view" our major, major crises as resulting from Overpopulation and Lack of access to birth control.

Gail Rocha Thu, Jan 22, 2009 at 01:49 PM EST

I agree with everyone who says, "Get rid of Elisabeth." She is a poor sport and a very hateful person. I certainly did not appreciate the negative comments she made about Vice President Biden. When I see her, I want to throw up.

This may seem trivial among the profound political comments, but I LOVE Whoopi's blue sweater she is wearing on December 23rd and would love to know where one can it. Being a plus size, it is difficult to find gorgeous clothes and this is one gorgeous sweater. Any ideas how to find one are greatly appreciated.

Jo Wed, Dec 17, 2008 at 04:50 PM EST

Wow. All I can say about the "beck" is Wow, what a self-serving, sel-fish, self-encouraged witch. When you read this Elis, take note you will hate yourself when you reach 41 and look back at all of your shallow "wisdom" you chose to share with the world! And no you dod not help the Republican party ONE bit!

karen jeffery Wed, Dec 10, 2008 at 02:12 PM EST

Now that the election is over, I can watch the View again. I have many Republican friends, well, I have even voted Republican a few times, but they aren't stupid, narrow minded, uninformed and irritaing...which is why I couldn't watch Hasselbeck....so I had to forgoe the View during the campaign. kj

Kendall Wed, Dec 10, 2008 at 02:15 AM EST

In response to Teri. This is in no way mean spirited or biased. Teri, I suggest that one day, instead of spouting bigotry and hatred, you pick up a history book. Look at the origin of the republican party. It used to be about equality. Also it s so easy to say "We (African Americans) want something for nothing. REMMBER!!! We were "STOLEN" and brouht here to do your work!(200+ Years) Lazy? I beg to differ. Just remember...40 Acres and a mule. Oh! Thta was a lie too...History tells the truth. You just need to look. Peace and May God Bless You. Seek Knowledge!!

Sun, Dec 7, 2008 at 10:11 AM EST

I am not even interested in watching the video. I just want to say to Elizabeth, Thank God we now have a president that has a command of the English language and can hold a meeting without a promter an ear mike
or some other crutch. It is refreshing to say the least.

Kate Coury Sun, Nov 30, 2008 at 11:35 AM EST

The show about 2 weeks ago where all were lamenting how Obama will have a huge task taking care of all that the previous admin. left behind and Elizabeth lightly said "this is expected of all presidents; Bush had to do this after Clinton!!!" I couldn't believe it! Gee, I bet he went to bed every night with a severe headache thinking of the surplus he had inherited and the good things going on in the country in pretty much every area. Does she read anything besides Fox news garbage? What Obama is being left with is unprecedented. Other presidents have been left a war to clean up, but no one has been left with this magnitude of problems in every sector of governance to clean up. Wake up Elizabeth Hasselback. She is not a good voice for the "right". She is not well informed or she would not have made this absolutely ridiculous statement.

Hannah F. Sat, Nov 29, 2008 at 11:48 PM EST

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is being an idiot? Oooh, that's new.

Bonisha Wed, Nov 26, 2008 at 10:10 PM EST

How offensive can you be? Though I tend to agree more with Elizabeth than the other "girls" on the show - how can anyone state openly on this board or any other that it goes to show why no women should be allowed to vote? You can't lump a group together based on one person. That is like saying that Obama is on the same level as Jesse Jackson and that no one should be President of black origin because of Jesse Jackson. Give me a break. I don't agree with Obama but he is the President Elect and we should be respectful of his position. Oh, respect. A new concept for many.

Christi Wed, Nov 26, 2008 at 09:57 PM EST

Ruth Ann:

I found your comments to be exactly in line with my thoughts and addressed beautifully. It is funny - as it is very obvious that The View is a liberal based show and that the majority of it's viewers are against conservative Elisabeth. I remember years ago my own Aunt commenting that I wouldn't have had 2 children 18 months apart if I believed in abortion. Two more kids later - I still don't! I am very blessed with the 4 unplanned children I have. They are the best gifts I never knew I wanted until they existed.

DrJ Tue, Nov 25, 2008 at 12:29 AM EST

I truly wish for her that she finds out that her daughter is a lesbian...what would she do then??? Wush that she had an abortion?

RuthAnn Sat, Nov 22, 2008 at 12:30 PM EST

In reading alot of the previous commentary, I feel sad about all the hateful rhetoric coming from both liberals and conservatives! I did not vote for Obama, as more of my values line up with McCain; I am an OB nurse, and my husband and I experienced infertility for years, so I have a very deep respect for life and could never vote for someone who supports abortion for birth control; for rape/incest it's a totally different thing! However, now that Obama won, let's support and pray for him as our next president. He has a formidable task ahead of him and I think he's brave (or crazy :) to even run for the job of president! We should all be thankful for a country such as ours where we have free speech and can share our opinions; but I think it's very "low class" to use foul, hateful language towards others you disagree with! Come on folks---let's be more mature and grow up!! We can still show respect for eachother, even if we disagree!!! Just think about it! RLW

dolphinsong285 Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 07:57 AM EST

Dem's "whining and bitching" because they lost the '04 election? No, it was because George Bush was still President! Since when do the "free" American people have to stay silent when their special-interest loving leader does whatever is good for a choice few and leaves the rest of the country hanging? I'm so tired of these ignorant comments. Who wouldn't want a good leader, regardless of party? Another legacy of Bush--the way he has nurtured hateful partisanship in this country. Divide and conquer, right?

maria harvey Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 01:20 PM EST

Joy Behar is such a horrible witch. I can't stand her.

Jennifer Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 10:17 PM EST

I just started boycotting the show a week ago. I cannot support a show that allows someone (Elisabeth) to speak bigotry, and speak lies as facts. She keeps suggesting that prop 8 just passed in California with 62% of support, she has said this numerous times on numerous shows. This isn't true, and any other show (outside of Fox News) would demand a correction from her. I cannot support hate, and I cannot support this show any longer. I've watched it for years, but enough is enough.

Jeanie Fri, Nov 14, 2008 at 12:12 PM EST

I have boycotted the VIEW because of the cute, talentless, uninformed , loud mouthed, blonde creature. It would be so great if she wasn't there.

Arabella Fri, Nov 14, 2008 at 07:49 AM EST

roflmao, liberals are "immature and petulant"??? Oh that's a laugh. Have you taken a look at the plethora of "mature" conservative comments on this page? Here's a glowing example from "teri": "First of all, yes, Osama (I mean Obama) was elected because he’s black." How about the "mature" ravings of Hasselbeck before the election? Give me a break.

roflmao Fri, Nov 14, 2008 at 01:43 AM EST

When the Dems lost in 2004, it was all whining and bitching. Hasselback is showing you how to lose and stay classy. No temper tantrums, no rancor, no immature blustering about how Obama is not her President - she is gracious in conceding that her side lost.

Why are liberals, by contrast, so immature and petulant?

Hasselback puts you all to shame.

GW Wed, Nov 12, 2008 at 10:02 PM EST

It's time to boycott the show. Elizabeth is discriminating with what she is saying on prop 8. Enough is enough, get her off the show. I'm all for a conservative view, a smart one......."

Thanks for that delicious piece of facism Brian. Perhaps we should silence all dissent and make it much easier for everyone. Who gets to decide what view is "smart" comrad Brian? Is it you? Are you sure your OK with a conservative view supported by facts?

GW

Miss Sassy Tue, Nov 11, 2008 at 03:33 PM EST

travis bickle, don't dare lump all women with that brainless wonder Hasselbeck. I take personal offense to that, my friend. That's like me saying everyone named Travis is a yellow-bellied piece of codliver.

travis bickle Tue, Nov 11, 2008 at 02:36 PM EST

She is a twit! And she shows us all that women should not have anything to do with voting. She's a quack! A Nut! She hasn't got a clue! The first black president. I'm surprised she didn't say "the first Half black,or "milado" president of the u.s.a." Ugh! Ugh! And the rest of these C#&^$ Like that one fake crying. what a load of crap! The screwed view!!!

Brian Tue, Nov 11, 2008 at 11:48 AM EST

It's time to boycott the show. Elizabeth is discriminating with what she is saying on prop 8. Enough is enough, get her off the show. I'm all for a conservative view, a smart one, and someone that knows the facts vs. throwing out this "I read it somewhere", can she even read?

Miss Sassy Tue, Nov 11, 2008 at 08:09 AM EST

No, Chris, the only thing providing "a blistering assault on [your] intellect" is your own defense of "Teri" who so "intelligently" called Obama "Osama". You should be ashamed of yourself. And as far as your comment about "Miss Hasselback being able to put up with the mud-slinging", Hasselbeck chooses to remain on that show where, by the way, she gets a lot of money thrown at her for "putting up with" the other women's arguments. So excuse us for not having a shred of sympathy for this woman, who probably only made those conciliatory comments to save her own career. And what are the "facts" to back up this comment? The fact that Hasselbeck NEVER had a positive thing to say about Obama before he won the election, and the fact that she was all too willing to conduct her own mudslinging against him, even when she didn't have or didn't accept the facts available to discredit her assaults.

Yerbigbrother Tue, Nov 11, 2008 at 01:11 AM EST

Where does this idiot Elisabeth get her "facts'? I am so pissed about her comments today about Proposition 8. I am neither for or against gay rights. I have nothing to lose or gain. But this woman put out so much crap before the elections, she's really irritating me. She REPEATEDLY said that Proposition 8 was voted FOR by 62% of California voters. THIS IS A LIE! Propositon 8 stands at 52 percent for/47 percent against. This is a HUGE difference! Its as stupid as when she said, while Whoopi was stating the polls, McCain was ahead of Obama in ONE poll. Where did she get this poll? I missed it entirely. Why do they keep this ignorant woman on television, lying to the entire world. It is not right.

Chris Tue, Nov 11, 2008 at 12:33 AM EST

I'd like to take this moment to observe how most people on this board, the ones that support Obama simply try to attack personally the people who dissent to their opinions. I commended a contributor for her remarks and was labeled paranoid. Isn't that a blistering assault on my intellect. I suppose when the facts are stacked against you there's little one can do but try and denounce the one bringing the facts to light. I guess that's one way to go about things...or perhaps the only way to go about things here. I can't understand why there is so little praise for Miss Hasselback being able to put up with the mud-slinging. Whether you like her opinions or not, she's got remarkable will-power and patience.

smartgirl Mon, Nov 10, 2008 at 10:08 PM EST

Telsirc - I know what you are saying...Harvard Law graduates so many THUGS! IT is funny, a brown man is called a thug and others are call heros....be careful!

Ziggy Mon, Nov 10, 2008 at 06:33 PM EST

Telsirc: you have any credible sources for these allegations of yours? Or an explanation for why you use imaginary words like "themself" and "theirself". Is that some weird language you use when you talk to your THUG friends?

Telsirc Mon, Nov 10, 2008 at 06:14 PM EST

Because The View no longer has a message board. I’m posting this here. I saw the show today that raised the question of the “thug” comment being used to reference Obamma. The disagreement was on. That was so sad to see really. The bottom line is this when you have someone who misrepresents themself (THUG), practices disception about who they surround theirself with (THUG), won’t provide a birth certificate (THUG), won’t provide adequate school records to support claims they’ve made (THUG), is not an american citizen (THUG), knowling supports an aunt living in our country illegally, who by the way was taking advatage of US programs available to LEGAL US CITIZENS (THUG).

IF THE BEHAVIOR FITS!!!!!

And yes I agree with the comment someone else made about B.O. THE MEDIA HONEYMOON IS OVER!!!!!

It would be great to see Hasslbeck give correct data about prop 8. She keeps saying that it passed with 62 percent of people supporting its pass. It is actually only 52 percent, so please, someone help her. She sounds ignorant and ridiculous.

Grizzly Mon, Nov 10, 2008 at 12:50 PM EST

Allan Greene, the only problem with Hasselbeck being on Fox is that she doesn't have an original thought in her empty head. All she'd do is sit there and agree with everything everyone says on Fox. Not very entertaining. The only reason she's on The View is so that the other ladies can have fun showing what a trashy GOP tool she is. VERY entertaining!

Lynne Gilbert Mon, Nov 10, 2008 at 12:37 PM EST

Elizabeth - - GIVE IT A REST. That high pitch voice constantly arguing the Other Side. Please join Rush on the radio and stop whining.

Allan Greene Mon, Nov 10, 2008 at 11:58 AM EST

Elizabeth Hasselbeck would be far better off with her element on Fox news. Her opinions are like those of O'Reilly, Miller, and that former liberal from mainstream Tv Bernard Goldberg.Like the others from the far right loons Missy attacks as a form of defending her opinions even when not factual. Not seasoned enough. send
her for reprograming please. keep her honest.

Allan Greene Mon, Nov 10, 2008 at 11:44 AM EST

I know the ladies are "friendly" But Elizabeth's continued & on-going bespeak in favor of McCaine should reach the "boiling" point for some. S he is only there because of her husband. Send her out for "deprograming". She has no more arguments. She is a twit.

Miss Sassy Mon, Nov 10, 2008 at 10:34 AM EST

Chris, are you listening to yourself? All you say is YOU LIBERALS this and YOU LIBERALS that. It's you versus the whole world, and everybody's wrong and you're right....right? You know what that is? And I refer to the Random House Unabridged Dictionary:
par⋅a⋅noi⋅a
–noun
1. Psychiatry. a mental disorder characterized by systematized delusions and the projection of personal conflicts, which are ascribed to the supposed hostility of others, sometimes progressing to disturbances of consciousness and aggressive acts believed to be performed in self-defense or as a mission.
2. baseless or excessive suspicion of the motives of others.

Chris Mon, Nov 10, 2008 at 10:26 AM EST

Teri....look. They hate you. You're a bad person right? Look at all the facts they're throwing at you! Oh wait, nevermind, they're liberals...so they have no facts, you're just a bully. How dare you call them out like that? You gotta love it when they attack you like this...it mean's you're right. And everyone else, let me say for myself and likely for Teri as well, We're not racists. I don't hate our next president (He's not president yet.) I respect the office. Something you liberals have forgotten over the past 8 years.

JujuBee Mon, Nov 10, 2008 at 08:00 AM EST

Teri is just another sad example of racism, narcissism and flaming ignorance that's still alive and well. Just the other night at my own surprise birthday party at which an awesome Jack Sparrow impersonator was making balloon swords for the kids, my idiot high school friend's kid hands her a white one, and she says right in front of our black friend "Man, I'm glad I got a WHITE one!" because she was alluding to the fact that it looked phallic. She's also the one who keeps sending me racist and obscene emails almost daily, the most recent one being Obama in blackface on the dollar bill. People like you, Teri, make me sick. You make everyone sick. You do not have the mental or moral capacity to see yourself as you really are; an ugly pathetic excuse for a human being who has nothing of any value to contribute to society. If you hate your new President as much as you say, then move to a different country. And don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

jake Mon, Nov 10, 2008 at 07:20 AM EST

Teri, I would have responded to your gibberish ... I mean post, but for the stupefying stupidity of your comments... enough said !!!

lily Sun, Nov 9, 2008 at 04:51 PM EST

teri - those who write manifesto's expecting others to take that much of their precious time to even skim them - are usually narcissists or uni-bombers - or both

Teri,
You sound very angry and bigoted in your little messages. For the record, the majority of blacks are not on welfare, as an educated African-American woman, who did not get accepted into college because of affirmative action, who holds 2 degrees, who does not work in the entertainment field, whose parents owned their own businesses, I take offense to your generalization of blacks. My suggestion to you is to sit down somewhere and educate yourself. You people amaze me. That is why I chose not to be around people of your caliber, I feel that you are ignorant and beneath me.

GW Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 10:55 PM EST

Frankie ---- One More thing. Your thoughts on the Teri post? Just curious. I'll give you my take after you.

I also smiled when you said you support the McCain ticket. I never believe anyone when they declare in a rebuttal who they support in order to somehow add validity to there arguement .....or in your case criticism. You know the kind of person that calls talk radio and says
"Im a democrat but I still voted republican because I believe Bush will keep us safe" Riiiiiigggggggghhhhhhhtt.

Wowgw Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 10:40 PM EST

So as not to confuse. I will now call myself wowgw.

Now Frankie before you fire back with all that passion please know that I can handle disagreement and opposing views just fine. I want you to know I will be sensative to your needs when I respond. I will agree with you as much as possible and try and find that common ground so we can really get along in the end. I want to help change the image of the republican people and so this is my chance to manifest a longsuffering and compassionate side. Go right ahead Frankie I'll be ready. Oh.... One more thing.. that was very mean what you said about the spelling thing. How insensitive Frankie..... you should know better. Suppose I was a immigrant and trying to learn English. You may have really hurt my feelings! Seeya Frankie

GW Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 10:27 PM EST

Hey Frankie take a chill pill my friend and try and not to be so reactive. Your a pretty hostile feller sir..... and I suggest you read your last post in order to get a glimpse of what hate really is. Regarding all over the map (I am sorry let me explain)... I am WOW and initially responded to a GW in this thread unfortunately a little later in the thread I started calling myself GW. I am not sure if I was suddenly suffering from the stolkholm syndrome or just a touch of amnesia. My apoligies for that. I am GW who started off as WOW talking to a different GW. So I see your point on the "all over the map." The remaining verbal diarrhea you spewed regarding my last post to "oh please" is what stirred your venom I guess.

Your little tyrade regarding me being "all up in the face" is rather intrigueing. In America we call that disagreeing Frankie. I suppose an opposing view to you is a threat. Why dont't you step outside the box and breath some fresh air son. I hate weak sauce.

Frankie Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 09:29 PM EST

Hey, GW, you're all over this board and all up in peoples' faces about their posts. Maybe you should learn how the rudiments of how to spell before you A- trash what others have to say, and B- expect anybody to think you're relevant, or take anything you have to say the slightest bit seriously. You're the reason why half this country thinks Republicans are mean, uneducated, bigoted, spiteful little hate-mongering weasels. I supported the McCain ticket, and believe me, you do nobody in the Republican party any good by spouting the swill you spout. People like you do *nobody* any good. You just spread hostility, hatred and self-loathing. Knock it off, already.

Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 09:25 PM EST

I always have to laugh when I see who votes for the democrats in every election. How come it is always hollywood, Howard Stern lovers, uneducated inter city dewellers, inner city thugs, the liberal media news anchors (ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC),abortion lovers, gays and lesbians, college students that still live off their partents dime, people live off system the system and give nothing back, the people that are happy to give up the freedom that other have fought and die to obtain, and i can't for get Ophra.

The replican voters are the ones that work hard for a living, stick their necks out and start their own busines, work hard to build an inheritance for the kids, the ones who build the country, and the one who fight and die for freedom.

Funning how democrats want to take what these hard working people live and died for and want to give it away to those that will not work and those ones that are happy to hand over our freedom, a freedom apperently which cost them nothing.

ro ro Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 07:34 PM EST

Teri never said all blacks talk that way...read her statement again. She said the person being interviewed talked that way. I watched tv that day too and heard alot of people talk that way but I heard alot of people who didnt. I've heard the word racist thrown around alot lately but usually by someone saying that not voting for Obama is racist. Hello people, racism is still racism even if you are black and hate white people

tony Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 07:03 PM EST

teri- thanks for all the percentages and such, maybe next time you can incorparate the ridiculous amount spent in iraq. the worst part was how you "quoted" blacks with such racist words such as "dis iz the first time i've voted". Not all blacks talk that way and if you dont believe me, listen to Obama(and I mean Obama) , but if Obama is too hard for you to mutter you can just wait until January and call him Mr. President. ahhahaha

OnlyForObama Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 03:51 PM EST

Elizabeth is full of crap. Her comments were not genuine, but she had no choice. It was just days ago she was criticizing Barack and now that he won, all of a sudden, it’s a great thing? Come on, give me a break Elizabeth! By the way, please stop referring to Barack as "The First Black President." He is neither Black nor White. He is biracial. To simply refer to him as "Black" is, in my opinion, very disrespectful to his mother and his mother's heritage. It would be equally disrespectful to his father and his father's heritage to refer to him as "White" -- not that this would ever happen! It is time for America to stop tagging mixed race people as "Black." This started during slavery when slave owners declared that if you have a drop of Black blood then you're Black. Slavery ended in 1865 and this is 2008. Every aspect of one's heritage must and should be aptly respected. Barack is "THE FIRST AFRICAN-AMERICAN PRESIDENT" and should henceforth be referred to as such. This description is even more fitting for him, especially since his father was Kenyan and his mother American.

Mrs Lee Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 12:49 PM EST

Obama was approached to run for president. read the newsweek story from the website below
http://www.newsweek.com/id/167582
he is now your president. Give the guy a chance to make it or break it before you judge him.

mrclean Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 11:44 AM EST

Teri, are you saying the Democrats and Obama could cause economic instability and international hostility? you're a visionary! it's already happened!

teri Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 10:09 AM EST

(continued) I look so forward to 2010 when the voters once again will provide a check on unbridled power due to an unpopular liberal agenda. Since there will be no black man running for President in 2010, and because history tends to repeat itself, the Democrats will NOT prevail.
That's all I have to say.

teri Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 10:08 AM EST

(continued) Obama lacks experience to be the leader of our country. He’s a go-along, get-along who will be bullied by other Democrats to pursue a radical agenda. He’s ready to make liberal changes in American economic, social, and foreign policy. Hooverism = An economic program of government spending, higher taxes, and tariffs. It didn't work out so well the last time, and this time it's likely to make the current recession worse. During the Clinton years of the early 90s (the last time Democrats had total control), the Democrats tried to nationalize healthcare, entered into an unsuccessful military incursion into Somalia, changed the military’s policy regarding gays, and got involved in a host of other problems. The result: Voters quickly turned over control of Congress to the Republicans in ’94 because they were clearly disgusted by the democrat’s liberal agenda. Let’s not forget the time before that, when the Democrats also tried to push their liberalism down the throats of Americans in the late 70s. The result: an economy that was in shambles by the end of the Carter administration. Remember that? Let me remind you. Interest rates were over 20%, inflation was in double digits, unemployment surged, energy prices were out of control, the U.S. was in retreat all over the world and the military was in such shambles that an Army helicopter could not even make it across the desert to rescue the American hostages that were held in Iran. Good thing the Republicans stepped in (Reagan). Because of that, our military was restored, as was our pride and the economy. Needless to say, in both ‘80 and ‘94, the American people realized that unchecked liberalism is not the best course of action for this country.

teri Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 10:03 AM EST

(continued) Our current Democrat controlled Congress has an approval rating of only 9% (2008 Rasmussen). That’s the lowest approval rating ever recorded in US history and way worse than any Republican congress has ever had. At 37%, President Bush’s approval rating seems stratospheric by comparison. No congress has been this unpopular since, the last time Democrats controlled congress in 1992. In January, Democrats will control Congress the White House. Brace yourself for the appointment of activist judges who’ll pass legislation satisfying radical special interest groups. Those liberals want organized labor, so they’ll eliminate the workers rights and allow labor union leaders to force employees to join.

teri Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 10:02 AM EST

(continued) Our Democrat bias media is also to blame for the election of Obama. Take from the rich and give to the lazy people on welfare and pay-off the media so they bash the Republicans and praise the Democrats. I don’t have a problem with those on welfare only long enough to get back on their feet. I do have a problem with the lazy people who use and abuse the system as their way of life. Get a job! Don’t have kids you can’t support! Hollywood isn’t any better because they are just as Democrat bias as the media. Blame, blame, blame the republican president. Don’t you know that it’s the house and senate who control economic policy, not the president?

teri Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 10:01 AM EST

(continued) The ONLY reason there are more white Americans on welfare has to do with population alone. When considering the percentage of the black vs. white population, there IS a GREATER percentage of blacks on welfare compared to whites. Yes, 61% of those on welfare are white and 33% are black, Keep in mind that 74% of the US population is white, while only 13% is black. Do the math: 33% of 13% of the population is much more than 61% of 74% of the population.

teri Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 09:59 AM EST

(continued) I voted for the candidate who I felt cares more about the safety of my country, family values and moral values. In God we trust. God bless America. Look at the money you earn and spend. Thomas Jefferson said “The God that gave us life gave us liberty.” America was founded on Christian principals. One nation under God. Our rights come from God, not from government. “The idea of ‘separation of church and state’ is nothing more than a myth created by one Supreme Court decision in 1947. That one decision has resulted in dozens of ill-informed rulings that have undermined religious freedom and exalted secularism as the state-protected religion in American” (William J. Murray).

teri Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 09:58 AM EST

(continued) First of all, yes, Osama (I mean Obama) was elected because he’s black. All you saw on the local and national news were long lines of blacks ready to vote for the first time. They were interviewed around the country and it was all the same: “Dis my firss time vote-in. It wuz eazie. I jus went in dare and I vote-ed.” Where were these huge lines of voter before now? They just happened to choose this election to become patriotic and care about America and politics and practice their right to vote? Hmmm. They voted for him because he was black. The ONLY reason they voted in this election was because a black man was on the ballot. When you look at those battleground states, the numbers say it all. In NC he won by only 1%, in FL 2%, in OH 4%, and in IN 1%. These are not large enough differences to suggest any reason other than race as the major factor. Had these “new black voters” stayed home like they did in 2004 and 2000, McCain would be our president. They don’t even know a thing about how McCain would lead or country or how Obama would lead our country. They just voted for him because of the color of his skin. That is racist. Democrats wanted Bush out in 2004. Well, Kerry isn’t black so the Democrats couldn’t register some “new voters” back then. They thought…..Hey, let’s continue to pay off the media go get a woman or a black man to get us back in the White House. I’m willing to bet that this election was the first and only time these newly registered voters plan to vote, that is, until the next time a black person is on the ballot. Thank goodness I won’t have a 45 min. line to stand in when I go back to the polls in February. Oh, to all of you new voters, election day doesn’t just come around once every four years.

teri Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 09:57 AM EST

Elisabeth never said she was going to become a Democrat. She simple stated that she would support the president-elect. I respect her for what she said. She/we know McCain would be a better leader. She’s being a good American by supporting the office.

shiv Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 07:15 AM EST

i voted for Obama, so technically "i won" but i would have been fine if McCain would have won. i don't care WHO is in office as long as they turn this battleship around by getting us jobs, getting our country solvent again and get the politicians to stop WASTING our money!! i realize it won't be solved overnight but make some progress toward it.
if you are in charge of the big banks or other financial institutions, considering the debacle, you should NOT be looking for any compensation. you help crash the world economy and you're looking to get paid? thousands of people out of work and YOU are looking for a hand out. i'll give you "free" meal, they serve three squares in prison i believe.

V.J Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 07:11 AM EST

Can someone tell me when "muslim" became a race. You people are making the same mistake as calling people of "jewish faith" Jews......... Since I pratice buddhism; that makes me a buddist... Is that my faith or my race. I have friends who are muslims? They practice the teaching of Islam. They are Ethipians, African, Moroccans and many ethnicities........I guess Muslims became a race when everyone decided that they relate to terrorist. What is Timothy McVeigh? Isn't he a terrorist? Or the White Supremacists? The Klan? OH I forgot their are extremists. Don't they claim themselves to be Christians? Come on people open your mind. HE is ignorant. I actually pity her. Her poor children........

Sarah Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 02:08 AM EST

Elisabeth did not eat crow, nor did she need to. She simply stated that she is ready to support our next President, no matter who he may be, in order to promote a more unified country. That's what we're all going to have to do.... win or lose, you have to take what you get and make the best of it.

GW Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 01:13 AM EST

Oh please ------ Predictable response. I'll pass on by your dribble about your perceptions on what you "feel" I was trying to portray about myself. A safe sanctuary for you but for myself a waste of time and juvenile. Regarding the question.... you should have pondered longer. A little paranoid are we? Nothing was veiled and suppostitions that you preceived are based on your own presuppostions which are directly enfluenced by your paranoia and misguided perceptions. So try again. Let me help you along. I hope Obama finishes his first term alive and well. Why would Biden be so nervous. You can do it "oh please".... try again. Yawn. I find it boring sometimes to repeat myself.

Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 12:39 AM EST

People think some people voted based on race because some people said they did.... The black vote however did not put Obama in office.. the white vote and the new voters did. People need to sto focusing on race, the race is over he is the President. I didn't vote for him but I ain't going no where!! God Bless the U.S.A.

If you can do it better.. run for office, if not... Shut it up!

RJ Fri, Nov 7, 2008 at 08:26 PM EST

Hasselbeck is a phony -- and a stupid one at that. I'm so happy I'm not that dumb.

Oh, please. Fri, Nov 7, 2008 at 08:16 PM EST

GW, I don't have to "ponder" it at all. Sorry to have to be the one to tell you this, but you ain't that deep. Yet another thinly-veiled supposition that Obama is not long for the office.. Yawn. Not as overtly threatening as some of the other citizens of Redneckistan are prone to getting, and couched in slightly (oh-so-VERY slightly) more intellectual terms. But you keep laboring under the delusion that you're a complicated soul with deep, difficult-to-grasp ideas. It's workin' for ya.

Kathy Fri, Nov 7, 2008 at 04:45 PM EST

Everyone keeps grumbling and slamming all the "sore losers," but there seem to be quite a lot of "sore winners" on here, too. Not only can you be a gracious loser but you can also be a gracious winner. If you really want America to be united, then tolerate freedom of speech even when the speech doesn't agree with yours. We could all stand a bit more tolerance! It is so easy to cut others down via the Internet. Remember we are all Americans with our own valued and valid viewpoints!

Miss Sassy Fri, Nov 7, 2008 at 03:50 PM EST

GW, that goes for you too. Don't you people have any dignity? Even Hasselbeck and McCain do.

Ozzy Fri, Nov 7, 2008 at 03:48 PM EST

Chuck, come on. "She did something that the Democrats know nothing about". You're being childish. Please stop your whining and be an adult. You're no better than anyone else.

Ozzy Fri, Nov 7, 2008 at 03:47 PM EST

Gary, if Obama's not qualified, then how'd he get the nomination in the first place? How'd he get to be a Senator? Doesn't really matter what you say at this point, he's our leader and way more people have faith in Obama's abilities than McCain's. Perhaps you could be a bit less bitter about that. No one benefits from attitudes like yours.

Miss Sassy Fri, Nov 7, 2008 at 03:44 PM EST

Tracy, grow up.

GW Fri, Nov 7, 2008 at 03:31 PM EST

Oh please ----- Hey there. Gotta a question for you. Do you know who the most nervous guy in America is right now.......

Joe Biden.

Ponder that and if you have half a brain you will get it. Trouble is I am not sure you do based on your last comments.
