The TV characters you irrationally hate

Oct 6, 2008, 07:30 AM | by Annie Barrett

Categories: 'Desperate Housewives', Strange Bedfellows, Television, Whining

Andreabowen_l Oh no! From the mixed-up files of Mr. Michael  X. Ausiello: Andrea Bowen will return to Desperate Housewives as Julie, Susan's one-note, usually inconsequential daughter who started off the series in an awkward phase and then we realized the awkward phase was going to last her entire life. Julie will tow home a much older boyfriend in the form of Steven Weber -- for just one episode. (Hooray!)

This got me thinking: Why do I hate Julie? No apparent reason! Nothing about her is villainous; she's just...there, and I don't like it. It's the same way I felt about Crystal from Roseanne. It's not like Natalie West couldn't act. I probably just hated that the character was so pathetic. I remember watching Roseanne and mentally deleting Crystal from the Conners' kitchen all the time. It wasn't easy. Thank god we have Photoshop for that kind of thing today.

Quick, name the TV characters you irrationally hate!

">>Elizabeth Hasselback is completely, utterly hateable! Someone please yank her off my TV for good!<<

Why, because she has opinions that differ from your own? So people who have other opinions don't deserve to have a forum? Please, grow up and try to be tolerant, rather than hateful." - Actually, it's people like you and Elisabeth Hasselbitch that don't want others' opinions heard. People who have different opinions don't have the right to shove their opinions down others' throats (IE: screaming over other people as they are talking doesn't make you right or smart). Take your own advice! It's people like you who are the most hateful, judgmental, and intolerant people on the planet.

That said, DitzyIzzie from Grey's and Charlotte for PP are two of the worst characters AND actresses that I've ever seen.

Ange Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 06:32 PM EST

I forgot to mention Wilson from House. He's nothing more than fangirl bait. He has no real purpose on the show other than fanservice fodder and he should have left for good.

Ange Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 06:30 PM EST

Carl Sack from Boston Legal. I hate him because he doesn't fit John Larroquette at all. Now on the other hand if John had played Joey Heric...

katgirl Thu, Oct 23, 2008 at 03:03 PM EST

Oops, meant I hated Andie from DC NOT Joey. I loved Joey.

KatGirl Thu, Oct 23, 2008 at 02:44 PM EST

Lost: Sawyer he's a better looking version of the redneck jerk who hits on you in every bar. Hopefully he gets killed off this year.
Friends: Ross - hated his nasal voice.
Dawson's Creek: Joey (most annoying female ever) and Pacey (how does the slutty guy who slept with teachers and married women end up with the girl?)
90210: Brenda - what a witch!
Alias: Lauren --course we were meant to hate her, no?

GIR Wed, Oct 22, 2008 at 09:52 PM EST

- Maya from Heroes. (And her point on the show is. . . ?)

- I agree with the Gabriela statement. I also throw Troy into the mix. How can one giddy, superfical couple make me want to rip out my innards so badly? I don't know, but they do the job pretty well. Sharpay also makes me want to vomit. The sad part is, I only watched five minutes of the movie, and it was a nightmare. I'd rather drink sulfuric acid than watch that again, thank you very much.

- Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus. When will that girl realize that she is ONE PERSON? And, quite frankly, she's generic and overrated.

ElectAPromQueen? (maybe not) Tue, Oct 21, 2008 at 05:39 AM EST

yeah, I think the Betty character in Ugly Betty is starting to get on my nerves.

janice Tue, Oct 21, 2008 at 05:02 AM EST

Dan from Gossip Girl!!
He looks like a short ugly imp... is constantly STUTTERING in lagging sarcastic run-on sentences, and talks like he's a total geek, the gist of his lines today were: 'Yes, i do have A male friend"... "he is my "boy"... and "can u teach me how to do the "knee bouncing thing" with the soccer ball..'.. who wrote his lines?!!
He's obnoxious, useless, and him and Serena look ridiculous as a couple. Dan needs to get beat up by Chuck- that would actually help his character get more interesting!

Nick Sat, Oct 18, 2008 at 01:40 PM EST

Lots of Dawn hatred...

I'd like to clarify: I hated Season 5 dawn; liked season 6-7 Dawn, and now she's back to being annoying throughout season 8.

Kat Thu, Oct 16, 2008 at 04:39 PM EST

Gabriela in the "High School Musical" series--can't stand her singing voice or that "aren't I adorable?" shrug of hers! Ick!!!

micheal jones Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 02:35 PM EST

Your welcome,ZET. I bet you feel the same way about Squidward too.

SpikesPrincessJ Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 11:56 AM EST

Sorry, posted twice...not quite sure why...

SpikesPrincessJ Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 11:55 AM EST

Oh where to even start...

General Hospital: Sonny and Kate. I skip over there parts every episode. Unless it's a Carly/Kate scene. I enjoy Carly giving a verbal smackdown.
Also hated Lulu, but she's getting slightly better. If they killed her off though, there would be no tears from me.

Grey's Anatomy: Izzie. OOf. I can't even describe the intense dislike I have of her character articulately enough to write it down.
Derek. Who named him McDreamy? I think he's a McAss. How Meredith could keep going back to him after the way he treated her (anyone remember him calling her a wh**e?) I just cannot comprehend. I would much rather see McSteamy playing the romantic lead instead. It'd make for an interesting story line.

Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 08:36 AM EST

Wow, so many other people can't stand 'Meredith Grey'. Heartening. I agree with the person who said "Nearly everyone on Grey's Anatomy.'

Sex and the City: Miranda - unbearably hideous whenever she takes a bite of something, like salad. (Sorry, Cynthia.)

(Someone else doesn't like Trey McDougal because he's boring-- that was what made him the most hilarious character ever on Sex & the City. All righty? Love Kyle MacLachlan!)

Bee Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 07:55 AM EST

I actually love a lot of the people that others seem to hate. The whole "love to hate" thing seems to be lost on a lot of people. That said, I do have people that irritate me:
Lana on Smallville
Claire on Heroes

Laura Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 02:34 AM EST

I agree with a couple above posters, this is irrational dislike people!

if you dont like meredith grey because she is whiny, that is rational...

I can not stand Anna Freil for some reason, just dont like her, I tried to watch pushing daisies, and I just cant deal with her, its not even the character or show really. Just want her to go away especially since everyone seems to think shes so awesome.

Tracey Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 01:57 AM EST

Dawson from Dawson's Creek. Even as a thirteen-year-old I thought he was whiny, manipulative, and self-obsessed, especially given that every single one of his friends had a far harder life than he did. I was so disappointed when the show didn't end in his death.

Carol Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 01:48 AM EST

Lois Lane (smallville)- It's not so much irrational because there are many reasons to hate her but omg I cannot stand to look at her.

Teyla (SGA)- She is useless. She's just there to be hot and bring in the male audience. She DOES ABSOLUTELY NOTHING and I shouldn't hate her because she has no personality but I do. They should just kill her and bring back Elizabeth or not whatever. I just want her off my tv screen. Rachel though is lovely and I feel bad for hating on her character but that is the way it is.

Chuck Bass- He tried to rape Jenny, I still don't get how people like him.

A. Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 01:38 AM EST

Grey's: Meredith and Izzie
Doctor Who: Martha Jones
House: Cameron
Heroes: Maya
Lost: Jack and Ana Lucia
NCIS: Ziva

La Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 11:38 PM EST

Piz from Veronica Mars.

A horribly useless, bland, one-note character who managed to suck away screen time from characters more deserving.

Way too much time, plot, and energy was wasted on him and his infatuation with one Veronica Mars. I mean really, who cares about his little crush? He was like one of the Tailies on LOST.

Zet Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 11:29 PM EST

micheal jones - thanks for the laugh

micheal jones Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 10:07 PM EST

This may sound a little childish, but this involes a cartoon character. The one TV show character I really don't like is Squidward Tenticles from Spongebob Squarepants. I mean, he is so egotstical, arrogant, self centered, snobbish and overall grumpy! Who would put a guy like that in a show involing a cheerful happy guy. I even like the tiny, one eyed evil green thing. I especailly HATE the way he treats Spongebob and Patrick. I mean, WHAT...A ...JERK!

Gabrielle Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 09:49 PM EST

Maya, "Heroes" - What is her point, exactly? All she has done up to his point is waste my time and ruin scenes with characters I love. She is whiny, codependent, and useless. I was done with her by her second scene.

Meredith44 Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 04:10 PM EST

I don't know how I missed this when it first came out. I know I'm way late, but the opportunity to vent cannot be denied.
1. Foreman from House. One of the main reasons that I didn't watch House was that the first few episodes I tried were Foreman-centric and I hated him. I know most of fandom wants the original 3 back, but he can go away as far as I'm concerned.
2. Derek from Grey's. I know that so many people love him and think he is Meredith's soulmate, but to me, he just seems to have absolutely no personality. I disliked how he was presented with the glossing over of his history (Addison) and since then he has not demonstrated any kind of a backbone whatsoever.
3. Hiro from Heroes. Again, a very weak willed character. Plus, this season, they seem to be making him stupid as well. I'm so fast-forwarding through all of his scenes while reading subtitles.
4. Dualla on BSG. She again just seems so weak willed (I haven't seen season 4 yet, though), and I hated how she treated Billy.

Matt Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 05:51 AM EST

Meredith - Greys - kill her off and Greys would improve 100%. What a whiny character. And her voice is like nails down a chalkboard.

Jack - Lost - dull as ditchwater. Can't act to save his life.

Serena - Gossip Girl - vacuous dimwit. And another irritating voice. She should just sit pretty and not be allowed to speak.

Nicole Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 05:44 AM EST

First and foremost: LANA from Smalleville
2. Izzy and George from Grey's Anatomy
3. Add on kids by Joss Whedon-Dawn BTVS and Conner on Angel
4. Susan from Deperate Housewives
5. Mohinder, Maya and her brother and the multiple personalty chick from Heroes
6. Jack from Lost
7. Kim from 24
8. Julia from Nip/Tuck
9. Marissa from the OC

Brige Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 08:30 AM EST

I have a few:

1. Angel- Connor. could not stand this idiot of a kid. Once he came back as a teenager and slept with Cordy the show went downhill for me.

2. General Hospital- Sonny and Kate

3. LOST- 1st season- Michael. Now - Jack

4. Broethers & Sisters- Holly- hate her all the time. she acts so entitled to everything.

5. HEROES- Maya, Mohinder and Claires flamethrowing bio mom. Please get off the show.

6. Criminal Minds - Emily Prentiss. No reason JUST CANT STAND HER

Janelle Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 06:49 AM EST

Wow. I have a lot more than I thought. Some characters that irk the eff out of me:
Meredith - Grey's (how the bleep is she the MAIN character? Ugh. Severe Annoyance.)
Gossip Girl - Serena - She's a little flat.
Buffy - Dawn - She just didn't fit in
Dawson's Creek - Dawson, Jen AND Joey. It should have been called Pacey's Creek.
Angel - Fred - This character had so much potential (much like the show), but never reached it.
90210 - Donna - Just plain irritating.
Desperate Housewives - Gabby - I have no patience for her.

Ashleigh Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 12:30 AM EST

Dan Freakin' Humphrey (Gossip Girl).

Paula Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 06:51 PM EST

Dawson, from Dawson's creek, to me me me, even for a teenage boy. Thank God that Pacey exist.
Marissa Cooper from season 2 and 3, another self center person. She could not leave Ryan alone so he could be happy.
Dr Torres from GA.

Kat Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 05:45 PM EST

Jordan from "Crossing Jordan"--sets my teeth on edge, though I liked everyone else on the show.

Sophie Thu, Oct 9, 2008 at 12:12 PM EST

Lost - Jack (and to an extent Kate).
Gossip Girl - Dan.
Everyone in reality tv. I blame it (and them) for my fave shows that have been canceled in the past.
FNL - Julie. I don't even know why. I just do.
True Blood - Tara
I could go on and on but just thinking about these characters annoys me. Although in some cases its more to do with the bad acting/writing...

Bree Thu, Oct 9, 2008 at 10:46 AM EST

Ed Westwick (Chuck) from Gossip Girl
He Creeps me out!!

Amy Thu, Oct 9, 2008 at 10:40 AM EST

oh! and Ashley from Degrassi...she was so annoying...so whiney and kept playing with Craig's emotions...I know he cheated on her but I don't blame him!

Amy Thu, Oct 9, 2008 at 10:35 AM EST

The two that really come to mind are

1. Jordan from Scrubs. I hate when Dr. Cox went back with her. She is evil, manipulating and not funny at all. All around ruins the show for me...plus her face changes over the years...its kind of freaky.

2. Trey McDougal from Sex and the City. From the moment he entered the screen as Charlotte's potential love interest, I cringed. He was boring, not funny and impotenent. GO HARRY!

Cushionmover Wed, Oct 8, 2008 at 03:07 AM EST

I in love with Mad Men. I love Don, Pete, Peggy, Sal, and everything about it. But if they keep make half (and more) the episodes about boring Betty I quit it.
It is to much Betty. She doesn´t interest me one bit. It is a huge mistake to give her this much screentime.

Kelly Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 09:33 PM EST

Supernatural-Ruby. Don't Like her. Don't trust her.
Firefly-Simon.
Smallville-Lana.

brian Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 09:02 PM EST

All time Hall of Fame-
Diane Chambers on Cheers,
Whiney McBeal

jz Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 08:50 PM EST

Grace from "Will & Grace."

Gizmo Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 08:25 PM EST

Sara Sidle on CSI. She never added anything to the show in the first place. Bad character even worse sctress. She left I was happy now she's coming back. WHY????!!!!

Ryan Wolfe, and Natalia Boa Vista on CSI Miami. Too bad they cant off each other. Now that would be a good epi.

darlingbuds Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 07:46 PM EST

Really? You all hate Mohinder? He's a doll!!!
OK...I can not stand:
*Matt Parkman on "Heroes"
*Commander Riker (Jonathan Frakes) from Star Trek: The Next Generation.
* Dan Evans from season 5 "Biggest Loser" (smug vacuous brat)
* Helen Hunt in 'mad about you" and in just about anything else

Copernicus Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 07:41 PM EST

Worst characters of recent memory:
Jane and Pete, the title characters' respective best friends on "Dharma and Greg." Totally obnoxious, bordering on unwatchable.
Ironically, they were on the show with some of the best all-time supporting characters (and performances): Dharma and Greg's parents. They were all a hoot!

Kat Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 05:26 PM EST

Meredith Grey on Grey's Anatomy--all she does is sulk and whine

Jack on "Lost"--pretty judgmental of everyone else considering he's a drunk.

When the "Practice" was on, Bobby--whiney pretty boy always getting on everyone else's case and who died and made him so great?

Jeff Probst on "Survivor"--I'd like to see a new twist on the game where the contestants all smile while making him eat gross food and do icky challenges

Lucy Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 05:25 PM EST

I think most people here are missing the point. It's supposed to be someone you hate irrationally. Therefore people like Meredith Grey, Tyra, and that nose-wipe Logan from "Gilmore Girls" don't count. It is perfectly legitimate to hate them. They are obnoxious tools. To hate someone irrationally is to do so with no good reason.

I have an irrational dislike of all the characters of Tom Hanks. Tom Hanks as a person seems like a very nice man, but when I see him in a movie. I feel inexplicably irritated.

brian Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 04:11 PM EST

I forgot Sonny and Kate on GH. They need to drive off into the sunset (off a cliff).

brian Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 04:00 PM EST

ALL the Women's shows:
Gray's Anatomy
Sex and the City
La Fea Betty
Private Practice
Oprah
The View
Brothers and Sisters
American Idol
Big Brother
Will and Grace
ER
Mad About You
E.T.
Tyra
Martha Stewart
George Lopez
Idiot Court Shows
Campbell's Soup Commercial-
possibility possibility possibility
etc, etc. etc

Molly Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 03:40 PM EST

I agree whole heartedly with Brian - I hate House. The plots are good and sometimes I try to watch just for them, but he is such a jerk that I end up turning the channel. I'm all for "creative license" but his character is ridiculous!!

cjs Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 03:22 PM EST

Everyone on "Seinfeld". Most of the so-called "reality" shows, with the exception of "Extreme Makeover" really bite the big one, too. And "The View" needs to be canceled, and "Desperate Housewives" need to get a life, collectively.

SarahP Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 02:35 PM EST

WAY too many characters have caused irrational hatred on my part. So I'm going to go with the one that most people disagree with me on: Carrie Bradshaw. I loved Sex and the City, I've seen every episode, and the movie. But I just hate her. Everything about her. Selfish, self-centered, self-obsessed....it's all about her! All the time! And she cheated on Aidan! She's too flustered and wordy about her selfish needs! She wears crazy clothes and you're supposed to think they're cool just because she wears them....A TUTU IS NOT COOL! And then Samantha had to spoon-feed her in the movie because she was sad! That was about the breaking point for me. I just find her totally insufferable.

Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 02:23 PM EST

Don Draper from Mad Men. I don't like shows (i.e. Sopranos) where the main guy is messed up and such a jerk. i can't root for people like that. I want them to fail. I get that he had a "complicated" background, but that doesn't mean I have to like him.

In the same vein, Ray Barone from Everybody Loves Raymond. I guy who is supposed to be the "everyman" but is completely clueless about how to be a good husband/father. It's too annoying to watch.

BeBee Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 02:01 PM EST

Wow, your comments are scary because I thought I didn't have anyone I really disliked. But as I read the lists, I found myself agreeing with some of them. I will add one, though. Ana Torv's (Fringe) facial expressions bug me so much! First, it looks like they never bothered to put makeup on her - she is washed out and tired-looking. And she always looks like she just ate a Sour Patch candy. I understand the show is a serious one and she is sad over her boyfriend but her looks of apprehension or shock or depression are all the same. (I've nicknamed her Zoolander cuz she seems to only have one expression!) No matter what happens, she reacts to it by scrunching up her face like she just ate something bad.

Liz Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 01:57 PM EST

BTVS - Riley, Dawn, Kennedy
Angel - Connor
Veronica Mars - Piz
X-Files - Melissa (I grew to like Doggett and Reyes after waiting a few years and rewatching the dvd's)
OC - Marissa
Roswell - Tess
BSG - Gaius Baltar (I know he's central to the plot, but I cringe, especially when he's all ooey gooey with Six) and Six (see previous comment)
Grey's - everyone (I don't see why people love this show. They are so whiny! and Stupid!)
The Ori on Stargate

Jessica Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 01:53 PM EST

Maya from Heroes.
When her powers are activated, I would love for her to look in a mirror and kill herself.

Meredith Grey from Grey's Anatomy.
She shouldn't even be allowed to speak.

Monica Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 01:51 PM EST

- I don't think it's irrational, but Meredith Grey is the character I most hate. I also couldn't care less about Hahn or Ava, and since I no longer watch the show, I don't have to see them annoy me any longer.
- Michelle Trachtenberg in anything.
- Cuddy from House
- Lauren from Alias
- the new ADA and Dani Beck from SVU
- Ana Lucia from LOST and (to a lesser degree) Kate
- Maya from Heroes

Em Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 12:58 PM EST

Sara Sidle! I thought I was going to be able to enjoy one of her scenes, but then she SURVIVED. -groan-

Arrested Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 12:56 PM EST

Buster on AD always irked me. I ne'er understood his appeal (Buster, not the actor).

Veronica Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 12:01 PM EST

Wow I cannot believe I forgot Julia on Nip/Tuck. She drives me insane. Joely is a great actress but her face and voice just irritate me.

I noticed that a lot of other posters have put TV personalities on here as well so here is my list:
Tyra Banks - Her neurotic, self obsessed rants are only tolerable when Joel McHale is making fun of her.
Every "actor" on the Hills - The only thing they could do to make this show interesting would be to put them on an island and have them destroy each other Battle Royale style.
All the women on the View (except Elizabeth and the new African American woman) - This show makes me hate being a woman. If you want to shove your beliefs down someone's throat then at least be informed on your subject. It would also be nice if you showed a little respect to others who may differ from your opinion (I'm looking at you Joy & Whoopi).
Rosie O'Donnell - Why is this woman on TV? What does she bring to the table?

pat Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 11:39 AM EST

Tara and Jason from "True Blood." But, to be fair, I kind of hate everyone on "True Blood." DAN and RUFUS HUMPHREY

Rob Grizzly Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 11:11 AM EST

For me, it's faces. Some actors make these faces on their shows that just drive me nuts!

The new painter on Desperate Housewives. For such a "hunky" dude, why does he act like the woman in the relationship?

Matt Parkman from Heroes. He makes the stupidest faces when trying to read minds.

Juliet from Lost. There's this weird look she always gives people. I hated her in season 3.

Pete from Smallville. He's gone thankfully, but that boy just made me want to slap him, all the time!

The star of Burn Notice. I can't watch the show because of the way he looks in all those USA promos!

Jen from Dawson's Creek. The Birth of Emo could probably be traced back through her.

Mohinder from Heroes. That accent is so fake. And he's too pretty.
Michah from Heroes. Mr. "know-it-all" is the most annoying kid on TV.
Peter from Heroes. There's that weird lip thing...

hmmm, Heroes....

GNM Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 11:05 AM EST

The whole cast of the new Knight Rider but especially the Asian gal. She's probably the worst actress on the planet right now. She needs to go to acting school or switch careers.

Dr.Smith from Lost In Space-The most annoying coward in the world. I wished Don punched him in the nose.

Batman and Robin

Paula Abdul from American Idol. Even though I don't always agree what Simon says, I would like to hear what he says without Paula covering his mouth and interupting him.

Elizabeth Hassalhoff-I hate opinionated people who think they're always right

Remind me... Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 10:36 AM EST

TO sanen85 & ebe: Thanks! I remember now. Wish I didn't tho' ;o)

Hated her Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 10:36 AM EST

I stopped watching ER for one reason only...Dr. Chen. I just wanted to strangle her with her stethoscope.

Luzmita Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 10:35 AM EST

I hate the African-American dude in House...
I hate also the teenager stalking David Duhovny in Californication...
I hate Blair.. Whiny bi..ch!

ebe Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 10:22 AM EST

re: remind me
kennedy is a potential from season 7 who horns in on willow and scooby meetings. too much too soon. there was still a gaping hole where Tara once stood.

sanen85 Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 10:15 AM EST

She was one of the many "chosen ones" in the last season (possibly the 2nd to last as well, can't remember). Ended up being Willow's homieloverfriend.

bob Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 10:12 AM EST

how about inexplicably popular entire TV shows that I cannot stand? shows populated with idiotic snivelling self absorbed characters. shows like grey's anatomy, private practice, brothers and sisters, ghost whisperer, csi, to name just a few. the dialogue is bad, the acting is bad, the plots are bad, nearly all the characters are incredibly annoying ... why do you people watch this shite?

Amanda Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 10:11 AM EST

I can't stand the majority of characters on Grey's Anatomy, but I especially don't like Meredith Grey. And I don't think it's irrational! She is so mopey and whiny that it is unbearable to watch her.

Remind me... Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 10:04 AM EST

I'm having a brain-freeze - I watched every season of Buffy and don't remember a character named Kennedy. Can someone refresh my memory?

Oh yeah... Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 10:01 AM EST

Frasier, Tyra and all the Kardashians.

Lexi Grey (although I don't think it's irrational... her character is so annoying and needy). Izzy is also annoying, but I'm hoping her character will get better this season.
Kim Raver in anything... I never even watched Third Watch, but I couldn't stand her then and I won't watch Lipstick Jungle because of her either.
Horatio Caine... sooo bad
Julie from Felicity
Audrey from Dawson's Creek
Michael Weston! I hated him on Six Feet Under with the whole stupid kidnapping thing, he was on too many episodes of Scrubs, and now he's ruining House. I can't stand him.

Brian Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 09:38 AM EST

I hate House. If any doctor ever spoke to me or a member of my family in the way he speaks to his patients, I'd punch him in the nose. He's an obnoxious creep who needs a cummupance, and soon. Did I mention I hate him?

Kim Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 09:33 AM EST

I cannot stand Ruby on Supernatural. She needs to be gone. I thought I just hated the actress, Katie Cassidy, but I have since realized I hate the character in general, even with the new actress. Just get rid of her already!

SirLizard Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 09:32 AM EST

There's this guy who keeps worming his way into cameos on various TV shows. I think his name is Michael Nauseallo, or something like that. Just kidding. Or am I?

RustyT Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 09:31 AM EST

Heroes -- Mohinder (never saw him look better than he did 4 years in the future), Adam (can't act his way out of a paper bag, or a casket, apparently), and Elle (Kristen Bell can't seem to deliver any line without irony); Mohinder & Adam embody the combustive annoyance achieved by mixing hyperbolic overacting with twee British accents

Grey's Anatomy -- the Chief (talk about confusing glowering seriousness with acting! geez)

Desperate Housewives -- all of Lynette's quick-aged children; wow, did they all turn out ugly, and those carrot-top twins sure are stiff and mug rather than act

The Hills -- two letters: Lo! that girl is so simultaneously pathetic and cloying, I have to look away whenever she's on camera

Pushing Daisies -- Chuck & the detective guy who never has anything to do; though they're not characters, I'd have to say the smarm-loving writers of this oddity go here for me as well

Brothers & Sisters -- Tommy's wife, and sometimes Tommy himself

Christiefan21 Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 09:10 AM EST

Oh... and Dawn from Buffy. Big time. Reading over other posts - I can't believe I forgot her. It seems I sucessfully blocked that horrid 'key' from my memory. Until now.

Saki Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 09:08 AM EST

Absolutely can't stand Maya from Heroes, Meredith from Grey's, Susan from DH.

Christiefan21 Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 09:06 AM EST

Taylor from The O.C
Rebecca from Brothers & Sisters
Claire from Heroes
House's new team - 13, Kutner & Taub
The whole cast of Greys Anatomy

And I realise that I mostly hate the above because either I detest the actor and/or they're a replacement on one of my fave shows and I don't deal well with new permanent cast members (unless they're super awesome).

Or, in the case of Greys, they're ludicrously unrealistic, whiny and annoying.

Becky Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 08:57 AM EST

Martha Jones from Doctor Who/Torchwood. I would say it's because I was still depressed after Rose Tyler's (Billie Piper) exit, that I found it hard to ever like another of the Doctor's companions, but it's just not true. I loved Donna Noble. I think it was the whole "The Doctor doesn't love me" whine she was infected with for 3/4 of the third series.

Louise Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 08:48 AM EST

The entire cast of Grey's Anatomy( bar the chief of surgery). For a really long time I couldn't work out why I hated a show everyone loved, and then I realised it's because I can't bear 99% of the characters.

Adam Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 08:42 AM EST

Hiro from heroes. He is a waste of time and I know at least two other people who have stopped watching heroes because he irritates them.

POOH Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 08:36 AM EST

Wolfe on CSI Miami...I had my fingers crossed hoping they were going to make him a bad guy and give him the ax.

Silv Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 08:33 AM EST

Also Prue Halliwell from Charmed. After the first season, she became this "I can do it all" kind of character which went against the whole "power of three" thing. By the time she died in the show I was cheering. Then they brought Paige on and that show went to hell too....

Silv Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 08:29 AM EST

Whoops, I meant Julia Louis-Dreyfus, not Julia Duffy, in my earlier post.

Michelle Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 08:16 AM EST

I hate, hate, HATE Allison Cameron (House). The character started out saccharine, posturing, and sanctimonious, and has only gotten worse as the series goes on. Not to mention she's gotten progressively uglier and was never fit to make Chase's bed, let alone sleep with him in it.

I LOVED the last two episodes of House - she didn't appear at all!

And Mandi, I agree with you about Tess (Roswell).

JennyRox Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 07:50 AM EST

George on Seinfeld-OMFG the guy was an IDIOT!!! I get all twitchy thinking about him...bleeckkk!!

SuperTrooper Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 07:48 AM EST

I'm not sure if this one is irrational because Michelle Trachtenberg as Dawn on Buffy was truly one of the most grating and patience trying characters in the history of television. She was so great at being a bad actress I almost stopped watching one of the best shows in history.

j2talk Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 07:10 AM EST

Lana Lang from Smallville.....how could you pass up an Cloe...easily the most attractive of the Smallville women- Why hasn't Maxim realized this!!!!!

C* Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 07:09 AM EST

Dawson, D.Creek, Meredith/Derek/George Grey's! Sawyer (prefer his S1/2 self before that "Triangle" ruined him!!) And speaking of that, Kate, I loath her...
Marissa- OC
Peter, Hiro, Heroes
Sam. ER

j2talk Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 07:08 AM EST

Carrie Bradshaw-She is supposed to be ATTRACTIVE....are f ing kidding me...her face looks like a horse...longface, big nose and teeth....

Sarah Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 07:07 AM EST

Lois Lane from Smallville. Maybe it's just because I am, and will always be, a Clark-and-Chloe gal, but that woman drives me bonkers. I don't know who to blame, the writers or the actress, but everything she says and does seems contrived...and she has NO chemistry with destined-to-be-beau at all.

Amy Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 06:33 AM EST

Pete Campbell on Mad Men. I know he is important to the show but I can't stand any scene he is in. He'll get his day when he finds out about his baby

justjack Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 06:32 AM EST

does Kathy Griffin count? cuz I REALLY can't stand her. also agree about Susan on DH and Kim on 24.

jay Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 06:12 AM EST

Meredith Grey
Izzie Stevens
George O'Malley
McDreamy
Dan Humphrey
Ted Mosley
Mohinder Suresh
The three morons in Reaper.
Kevin Walker

Bert Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 06:11 AM EST

Aiden Dennison - South of Nowhere. Worst character ever.

Eunice Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 05:10 AM EST

I'm gonna get stoned for this but here goes.

Chuck Bass(Gossip Girl): Yes, Chuck's hot, but I guess I've just had enough bad boys on my screen, thank you. No need to add another stereotypical one. Actually, thinking about it, all the boys on GG are stereotypical. But I just like Dan and Rufus better, and I couldn't care for Nate even if I tried.

Meredith (Grey's Anatomy): Has she ever done anything besides whine and pine for McDreamy? Sigh.

Jenny Schecter (The L Word): Seriously, one of these days I'm just gonna shake her so she can stop boring me with her lame writing, lamer directing, and poor choice of love interests. Oh, and the wounded artist thing? Spare me.

Chris (Family Guy): I can't stand his cluelessness. Peter's actually entertaining with his dumb antics, and he's just... meh.

Nix Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 04:41 AM EST

House. One of these days life will break him utterly and I will smile.

lilian Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 04:38 AM EST

Meredith Grey
Izzie Stevens
and George! Scratch that, the entire cast of Grey's, besides the chief and Sandrah Oh
