Guns N' Roses' 'Chinese Democracy' is coming out next month (Axl really means it this time!)

Oct 10, 2008, 05:25 PM | by Gary Susman

Categories: Music, Rumor Control

Axl_l Axl Rose has been promising the imminent release of Guns N' Roses' Chinese Democracy ever since he looked like this (pictured). So most fans become properly skeptical whenever Billboard publishes an article like this one, claiming that Chinese Democracy will finally (no, really!) be released on Nov. 23. This time, though, there's some indication that the news is for real. Namely, there's the early, legitimate-channel release of a couple of the album's songs: The game Rock Band 2 uses "Shackler's Revenge," and "If the World" plays during the closing credits of the new Russell Crowe/Leonardo DiCaprio movie Body of Lies. So start bottling extra soda, Dr. Pepper, because you may actually have to make good on your bet.

Assuming the story is true, however, I wonder how disappointed we'll all be. Not just because the disc will be available only at Best Buy, or that we won't have an excuse to make jokes anymore about the Waiting for Godot-esque likelihood that the album would never come out. Rather, it's that there's no way Chinese Democracy can live up to expectations. Whether because of Axl's endless perfectionism in tinkering with the tracks (and the lineup of musicians on them) over the years or the byzantine legal and contractual snarls that may have been involved, the project bears the inevitable odor of a pot roast that has been boiling so long that all the flavor has been cooked out of it. Given the passage of time, Axl is likely to have either updated the sound so that it's no longer recognizable as the GN'R of nostalgic fondness, or else he'll have preserved it in amber so that rings hopelessly dated.

Of course, I'll be happy to be proved wrong, but how many of you think Chinese Democracy will really be worth the wait? Weigh in below.

I bought the album and I had to listen to it about 10 times, but its gorwn on me. Give it a chance and maybe it will grow on you too. It could end up being a classic!!! IF YOU WANT TO DISCOVER A GREAT NEW BAND CHECK OUT STITCH RIVET!! THEY ARE AWESOME!!!

Bintang Sun, Nov 30, 2008 at 02:17 AM EST

I've just listened to the album... yeah, it's taken me a few days to get it, but I got it!

It's F**IN AWESOME!!!

Definitely worth the 17(?) year wait!
A non-stop roller-coaster of style and emotion, which makes for a classic album!

Ok, so it's not Slash, Duff, etc... but times have changed and so has the band. Look again at the line-up between AFD and UYI2, the band changed a couple of times in that relatively short period, but everyone still said it was GNR. Not really a comparison, but Toto only have one original member and they still call themselves Toto... do people care? NO!!! Judge the music for what it is and forget who isn't playing it. Axl had his reasons for involving the amount of people he did and taking the (absurd) amount of time to produce this album... now let's just thank him for bringing his craftsmanship and talent (do I hear GENIUS?) back to us!

THANK YOU AXL! You've still got it!
I'll be at the nearest show!

This guy axl is like a deadbeat dad! He's gone for 15 years teasing he will be back. All you fools go rushing right back into his arms. Well i say screw him! he's not a good singer he writes okay rock songs and no more. Don't be fooled by the hype. If you walked into a club with a guy singing like him anybody would be turned off. He sounds like a crow getting at my garbage in the morning. Im sure the record will do good though because music has become all about hype instead of good talent. DONT YOU AGREE?

G-N-R IS DEAD!!!! R.I.P and please stay dead!! only good album was A.F.D all the rest suck! Live and let DIE!!!

Joe Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 12:57 PM EST

Slash is overrated. Buckethead would murder him. Honestly he's the only reason I would even give this album a listen. Axle has a terrible voice, and who really cares about the bass player or the frickin drummer? My 9 year old neice could play bass for the Bucket.

There will never be an album that moves us like appetite. That being said,GnR is like no other band EVER!You can replace Slash,Izzy,Duff, and steven, but you can't duplicate there styles. So if you are a true GnR fan, enjoy the efforts of each, and everyone of them.It may very well be the last time(God forbid)that we get a chance to.As for Chinese Democracy,I've only had the pleasure of listening to one cut it was a very intenese moment.Just as in the past my expectations were met,as usual.Axl is Better than ever, and the new members Compliment him very well!!Twenty one years ago I bought my first GnR album Aug,6 1987,On Nov,23,2008 I'll ad yet another. So if it takes another ten years or more,I'll ad yet another.Axl you WIll go down in rock history!!Until then Brother,Please keep doing what you do.I'll be patiently waiting.

I personally liked the new single they released. it's nice to know that the band i grew up with still has potential to kick ass!

donna Sat, Nov 15, 2008 at 12:02 AM EST

learn how to spell people. it's Axl Rose. most of you people weren't even born when Appetite For Destruction came out. that same day it came out there was an earthquake from i can remember. though i love the original gunners. Axl has always had my loyalty. he's a genious, can't wait til it comes out. and yes he does get more attention than the rest, if he really sucked i doubt nobody would care if this album came out. he's smart to stay out of the press. as long as he keep writing great songs, it's all good with me. you rule axl, love ya.

LexiEinazon from iceland Fri, Nov 14, 2008 at 08:09 AM EST

hey you people say what y'all will about axl rose "suckin' ass" without slash and duff but don't forget that slash and duff and even steven adler (if somone remember him) has given out at least five or six albumes each and the only one that was popular was contraband and thar was one summer and only because people was excited about slash, duff and matt being back together. axl rose's last albume was the spagetti incident and it was NOT very good. but still every tickets to every sho axl holds are sold and it's a pretty big stage with pretty cool backround and all wile velvet revolver and adlers appetite and what ever izzy and gilby are doing only sell a few ticket's, and wile axl doesn't give any interviews what so ever the other ones are makin' a hell lot of theme and still axl gets more attention and even izzy is starting to play with him agin so it's obvious that he does not think he sucks. Don't get me wrong i love all the X-gunners(slash and duff and izzy theme all)justaxlachance

nick cornwell Thu, Nov 13, 2008 at 12:34 AM EST

You people are all horrible spellers.

As for the new "Gn'Fn'R" album...who cares? We've waited this long - what's another two month wait for it to be on sale (used) for $1.99 on eBay?

Kirk Wed, Nov 12, 2008 at 11:46 AM EST

Sorry Axel, spent my money already on the new metallica album.

Becci Mon, Nov 10, 2008 at 02:27 PM EST

oooohh I thought they were getting back together or something :(

Swervo Sun, Nov 9, 2008 at 05:19 AM EST

i never do this posting stuff but i just had to coment on this new CD. After 10 years or so, the wait is over. i really had my doubts and only gave it a chance because of Buckethead and i must say i am impressed with what i am hearing, the Buckethead influence is everywhere and it is very cool. No its not the g-n-r of the 80s but that was then, this is now. Obviously the music will be different when there are different band members involved so i recomend you give it a listen. i give it a thumbs up. BUCKETHEAD IS AXELS SAVIOR!!!

Keith Sun, Nov 9, 2008 at 03:23 AM EST

I just listened to the album online and I'm laughing because it's so damn good. I'll look at this board in 6 weeks and most posters on here will change their opinions. Believe me, I'm also guilty of thinking that the album would suck as well, so I feel almost strange saying (this given the wait), but its pretty great. You have to have a diverse taste. If you only listen to 90's metal, maybe you're disappointed, but if your mind is a little more open, you're in for a surprise.

Mark Sun, Nov 9, 2008 at 12:06 AM EST

I just got done listenin to the album on the internet, and it is garbage! The Guns N Roses that we all cam to love will never return. Axl ruined the name. The only thing that weve had for the past 4 years was Velvet Revolver....That was the Guns N Roses we were all looking for, just without Axl and now Weiland. Now we get to look forward to Axls weak attempt to keep the name alive and a new singer for Velvet Revolver!

Sean Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 02:30 AM EST

another thing is that the remaining members of Velvet Revolver are probably having a drink or two in "honor" of this poor attempt at rock history laughing.

Sean Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 02:18 AM EST

well i understand what your saying it's just that guns n roses isn't guns n roses.Without the original members of the group Axl's gigantic ego and money greed, pushed slash and the other members away.So even if it does come out i wont buy it because it's not the same. Axl just has these two bit losers who can't play as good as the original members. So until he swallows his pride and brings the members back i don't care what he comes out with, i wont spend a Penney on what he does.

Doug Fri, Nov 7, 2008 at 04:41 PM EST

What is in a name? Nevermind the use of the name "Guns N Roses." This is one of the most provacative and energetic musicians of all time putting out an album that took over a decade to make. Think MASTERPIECE not guns n roses.

MovingSwiftlyOn Wed, Nov 5, 2008 at 08:24 AM EST

I am going to buy the album but also a velvet revolver album so it doesn't feel like I'm cheating on Slash. PS I'm from Britain and everyone over here is excited. Cause all your music is rubbish at the moment.

Carl Mon, Nov 3, 2008 at 05:54 PM EST

I am looking forward to the release of Chinese dem.Worth the wait-who knows, but there is'nt anything akll that great out anymore-rap is dull, country sucks, thrash is weak and I really like rock n roll and look forward to this.I have heard alot of it at live modern G'n'R shows 2002,2006 in NYC.

Tom Mon, Nov 3, 2008 at 05:48 PM EST

Axl is back! Stop living in the 80's people. great era, but that was over 20 years ago. Axl's gonna make the best record this decade! He is a perfectionist and that's why this is gonna be an awesome album. I wish people would stop saying "oh but its not the gnr of the 80's" It's not the f*&king 80's! get over it people. Axl is going to change music again for the time that it is. GNR Forever! Glad to have you back Axl! And to all those Opposed...Hmmm, WELL!!

Dezzy Mon, Nov 3, 2008 at 01:20 PM EST

back again :]
i just read some of the other comments saying that u need the other gunners; which i totally agree; when i was younger one of my goals in life were to get the best all back together. {well, kinda hard to pick b/w the 2 drummers and rythm guitarist; all so great and beautiful<3}
anyways, i noticed no one mentioned Gilby Clarke... so I'd like to give him a shout out.

Gilby was a great addition to the band after Izzy left; his Pawnshop Guitars albuim is one of my favorites; it was basically GNR the way they're meant to be :]

anyways... i love all of the real gunners {Axl, Slash, Duff, Izzy, Steven, Gibly, & Matt} :]]]

Sir Bucketdouche can rot. :DDD

Dezzy Mon, Nov 3, 2008 at 01:12 PM EST

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!
haha this album has been in the works like almost my entire life! lmao! I'm so exciteddd... there have been so many release dates... i really hope this is serious! omg yay! thank you so much Axl. this better be a great album. hard without the rest of the gunners but oh well :]
as long as sir bucketdouche isn't mentioned, I will be happy :]
btw, whoever wrote this article should use a more accurate picture, although i am not complaining. Mr. Rose is one sexy man xD

Love You Axl

Dezzy

Ciaran KC Mon, Nov 3, 2008 at 09:02 AM EST

Whats to say it's actually gonna cum oot! We've been waitin over a flippin decade for this. Its been "released" countless times and the twat keeps letting us down. And plus i've heard a few of the tunes and they kinda suck.

Alexis Sun, Nov 2, 2008 at 01:56 PM EST

HELL YEAH!!!!! FINALY AFTER SO LONG...
I'VE HERD SOME OF THE SONGS AND THEY ARE AWSOME. WORTH THE WAIT!!!!!
NOV. 23

pax Sun, Nov 2, 2008 at 05:09 AM EST

I'll give it a fair shake.....

Saul Sat, Nov 1, 2008 at 09:07 PM EST

I've been waiting a long time for this album, and I've heard some of the leaks, they're pretty freaking sweet.
But, they're nowhere near the original songs such as Civil War, November Rain, Mr. Brownstone, Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet child of mine, etc.
In the day and age we're in, this album will do every rock fan good, but like I said, it's nowhere near as good as the actual Guns N Roses. If, for say, they still had Slash or Izzy or Matt or Duff, it would be a million times better, but they don't.
Anyway, this Cd will go down in rock history forever, for better or worse.

Adlerlives Sat, Nov 1, 2008 at 06:18 PM EST

Gn'R is not back till they all are. to get this band to make GOOD music again you NEED Slash, Izzy, Duff nd Sorum/Adler. so many of us forget the music after Adler. Sorum did his part nd gained his share of respect. If you read the book by Slash or even the last few pages you will know that ORIGINAL Gn'R may never live again. but like any other Guns fan I have big hopes that they someday will. Izzy Sorum Slash nd Duff still all play together and are looking for a singer and Adler is in rehab nd hopefull will be ready to go soon(for good this time lawl)... i think we have to let fate decide(along with axl nd slash having a few "make up" meetings)weather things can get patched up nd some REAL '80's rock can live again. but dont get me wrong GOOD LUCK to Chinese Democracy!

GOOD LUCK to Steven Adler on Celebrity Rehab!!!

carmen Sat, Nov 1, 2008 at 12:05 PM EST

WHOOO HOOOO!!!! JUST A FEW MORE DAYS!!!!!! I HOPE!!! LOL

Jake Fri, Oct 31, 2008 at 03:56 PM EST

I've seen it in a couple posts here but I'd like to reiterate that GNR was great because they had a perfect formula: simple blue-based punk frameworks generally created by Izzy (sometimes Duff, i.e., It's So Easy) + Slash's cool riffs and solos + Adler's heavy, swinging drums + Axl's unique voice, delivery and lyrics (Izzy also wrote lyrics and did lead vocals) = great, classic rock n' roll. They were able to weather the firing of Adler but when Izzy left, GNR as we knew it was dead. Without those simple song structures that Izzy was responsible for it all died. Hence, "The Spaghetti Incident" because they were unable to write classic original material anymore. Since his departure, Izzy has released 9 records on his own. Some are great, others very mediocre but at least he's still producing. All of his records have at least a few gems. Izzy's contributions are so underestimated by the uninformed GNR fan because of Slash's hat and flashiness and Axl's volatility.

don Fri, Oct 31, 2008 at 11:40 AM EST

i was never a massive fan of GNR ....until now after hearing 9 demos of songs from the new album. This one will be massive believe me. Axl has got something here..so forget the old GNR's of the 80's and take this for what it is....a bloody great rock album that blows away all the other pretenders. Good on ya Axl for sticking to your guns...he! he!

Steve Lane Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 03:39 PM EST

I've not yet heard any tracks from the new "GnR" record. Im sure there will be some good things on it but I really wont be able to see it as the true Guns n Roses. Slash's guitar was just as much a charecteristic of GnR as Axls voice. try to imaginge Sweet Child O' Mine without its toneful and melodic guitar work or Novemeber Rain without those beautiful weeping guitar solos. The only chance of producing an album that would even come close to what Guns N' Roses once was would at least require the return of Slash. And dont forget that Guns was not the same even after the departure of Steven Adler. Maybe if you took away all there money and threw them all back on The Sunset Strip again they could make somthing to rival the classic stuff.

Timmy Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 12:10 AM EST

Complete rip off. I'm old enough to remember GnR and they sucked even when they sober enough to actually play. The only people who will be stupid enough to buy this weren't even born when they were actually a functioning unit.

Scooter Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 12:05 AM EST

Appetite was hands down a great album, part of the soundtrack to a misspent youth. Illusion had its moments but was way over produced, even for the time. Lies was generally okay. Spaghetti? Complete waste. Honestly, everything that has come out since is bunk. I could never understand why anyone would pay good money to see these guys live when they clearly don't give two fucks for their fans. And actually, waiting 14 years for an album is another waste of time. It's just a nostalgia trip, like paying 150 bucks to see Van Halen with DLR (another complete waste of time and money). Hope you all enjoy your trip down memory lane because there's absolutely no way any kind of GnR album is going to be worth the plastic it's pressed on. Don't you think Axl has taken you all for fools enough already?

kalen Wed, Oct 29, 2008 at 03:03 PM EST

i think we need to give axl a break. sure the new song isnt classic GNR but its still pretty good. lets hear the rest of the album. there's still supposed to be some classic GNR elsewhere on the disc.

Joe Mon, Oct 27, 2008 at 04:08 PM EST

AIDAN- listen if u really knew anything you would know that slash and izzy hate axl just as much as Duff.
Also Most people have to realize the sad truth, including everyone who wants every album to be another appetite, GNR is dying, if not dead already. and i am a huge GNR fan, owning all albums. I wish they couldve stay together and made more great albums, but they didnt.

brett broadway Sun, Oct 26, 2008 at 07:39 AM EST

get over it axel fucked it all up for gnr you should have gone and seen slashes snakepit or velvet revolver quality why would any of them want to go back knowing it could all happen again at any time

AIDAN Sun, Oct 26, 2008 at 07:19 AM EST

THIS WILL BE JUST A SPRING BOARD TO THE REFORMATION OF THE REAL G N R .
AXL WILL HAVE SLASH BACK IN THE BAND WITHIN TWO YEARS. EO WILL IZZY - BUT DUFF WILL NOT REJION - TRUST ME -I KNOW.

mb Sat, Oct 25, 2008 at 01:58 PM EST

jherri -
why would slash be on it seriously?
clearly you arent aware of the last 17 years

Sat, Oct 25, 2008 at 12:24 PM EST

fukin get over slashhh,,,,,,,fuckin sick of hearin about the guy.....go see a live show,,,,,they have a reallyl tight sound,,,,imo better then years ago

dave Sat, Oct 25, 2008 at 01:39 AM EST

Guns and roses still rule!!!!!!!!

HuckleBuckJr Fri, Oct 24, 2008 at 10:41 PM EST

I'm hoping for the best and prepared for the worst. Sometimes an album can meet expectations - Brian Wilson pulled it off with Smile, and that was almost a 40 year wait. Axl seems to have more in common with Phil Spector regarding perfection, which may be the thing that makes it work - he's not going to purposefully release junk, but the verdict will depend on what the fans think of it. I just wish he'd kept the vesion of the band that played Rock in Rio in 2001 together. That was a killer lineup, especially Buckethead (no disrespect meant to the orginal band). I'd like nothing better than for it to cause jaws in amazement and to see it be successful. This might be the kick in the pants the 2008 music scene badly needs.

Guys, 80's Rock'n'Roll is more about the hype and the attitude, not the musical value. Keep it cool.

jherri Fri, Oct 24, 2008 at 04:52 PM EST

im actually surprized that there is a new album. i just found out today from my science teacher! anyway i hope its good enough to spend my money on! and slash better be there! or else i wont buy it! SLASH is the life of GNR AND THIS BETTER BE WORTH THE WAIT!!!!

I Went through a GNR phase back in my late teens and love the old music. I Doubted that this would ever be released and if it was that it would be mediocre at best. I've listened to the leaked tracks several times. The title track is in my opinion probably one of the weaker songs and it still holds up pretty well. 7 of the nine songs I heard were (and this may be blasphemous) masterpieces of modern rock and leaps and bounds above anything I've heard come out in the last decade. Evolved and mature yet retaining many moments of nostalgia, if the other 5 songs equal what I've heard this will be a very impressive album. I doubted the guy, but I've listened to the leaks at least a dozen times and still marvel at how well this thing was arranged/composed/ and can say with confidence that win or lose this album has a lot of artistic integrity to it, and I for one don't mind at all that he uses the the name Guns and Roses, which to me IS the same thing as Friends and Axle. Slash will return..

After reading others views I must clarify something. Axl was smart enough to patent the right to the name "Guns N' Roses." Yes its not the same at all without Slash. The rest of the past crew could be replaced. Steven Adler was replaced, and Izzy left, and it never brought them down. Axl was very smart in this marketing move that will make him so many royalties to owning the bands name. No longer with geffen he will make supreme bank. so love him or hate him he had good guidance, and spending 10 million to make this album will pay off to him because of the suspense alone. He needs Slash to sell real G N' R music but he is all about himself as the past has shown.

I listened to the new album, and all 14 songs. 7 are good 7 are bad. There are 3 really slow ballads in there. Madagascar is great, and samples Civil War, and Martin Luther King's "Dream," speech. Shackler's Revenge, Catcher in the Rye are also good tunes. I just wish it was a good album not half album. So its iffy. Could have done better for a 13 year wait!

Jeema Thu, Oct 23, 2008 at 09:27 AM EST

In related news, pigs everywhere are reported to be sprouting wings and taking to the air.

Sean Thu, Oct 23, 2008 at 06:30 AM EST

Of course it's worth the wait. It's Axl.

AlladdinnSane Wed, Oct 22, 2008 at 10:40 PM EST

YES. YES. YES.

Wed, Oct 22, 2008 at 08:30 PM EST

Now if we can get Duke Nukem' Forever released, this would be a banner year for vapor ware!

jsolo Wed, Oct 22, 2008 at 08:03 PM EST

Have you actually listened to any of the tracks from this album (demos, leaks, and live versions--as available on Youtube)? Axl has managed to retain the classic Gn'R edge while still evolving as an artist. That being said, the album is neither "nostalgic" nor "dated." It is a brilliant album by, arguably, one of the greatest rock musicians ever to walk this earth. (I do think it's silly that the band is still called Guns n' Roses...it should be "The Axl Rose Project," or something to that effect)!

earthbound Wed, Oct 22, 2008 at 07:26 PM EST

I actually like it. Far better than the new Metallica album.

Neal Williams Wed, Oct 22, 2008 at 07:16 PM EST

I have heard the "leaked" versions of several of the songs, and this album is well worth the wait! The lyrics and music are incredible. AXL and friends have an amazing work of art here! Can't wait to hit the store in November to buy my copy.. WELL WORTH THE WAIT!!!!!!!!!

FORGE Wed, Oct 22, 2008 at 05:08 PM EST

I was a GNR fan growing up, but since the time I saw Axl with his new band I have though GNR SUCKS!!!!!!! Axl get a new job your voice sucks and the music is worse. The fact that he calls the band guns and roses makes it even worse. Without SLASH there is no GNR!!!!!!!!

GN WHAT? Wed, Oct 22, 2008 at 03:48 PM EST

Upon the first listen it sounds the likes of NIN and over produced. The GNR name was built on raw Rock N Roll and this song really falls short. There is no hook in the chorus or the old and missed soulful solos of slash.

April Wed, Oct 22, 2008 at 02:17 PM EST

For all you fans waiting with baited breath in anticipation of the Axl Rose solo album (let's face it, to still call this band GNR is a travesty and discounts the contributions made by the original band members), my advice is to wrap your arms around Chinese Democracy listen and savor every bit of it and make yourself love it; it may very well be another 15 years before this guy releases anymore music. Axl will be ready for a nursing home by the time the follow up to Chinese Democracy comes out.
It hurts to say this because I have been such a fan over the years, but Axl's track record has shown that he doesn't put the fans first. I would not put it past him that he would allow a delay like this to happen again. How much more of this can the fans put up with?

Dee Dee Wed, Oct 22, 2008 at 02:10 PM EST

I just listened to Chinese Democracy 4 times and, I have to say, I like it. I'm not saying it's like the GNR of the 80s but, what the heck, it's not the 80s. I'll buy it!!

tim Tue, Oct 21, 2008 at 11:43 AM EST

guys heard some of the leaked tracks
and although tracks 1,2,3,4 are storng the rest are poor i agree axles voice is sounding strong, but out of the 12 tracks i have heard, 14yrs in the making might as well been 40yrs a dissaponited guns and roses major fan, it will sell well cause gnr were so huge but it aint as good as any of the other album ( spagetti was poor and this is better but isnt use your illusion.sorry guys

cody Mon, Oct 20, 2008 at 07:40 AM EST

maybe this is only the begining.

Mecorp Sat, Oct 18, 2008 at 08:19 AM EST

This album is brilliant. I have heard it.

It will completely change the face of music. It will be the greatest album of all time.

It is a life changing musical journey.

Shakki Thu, Oct 16, 2008 at 10:26 AM EST

Anything worth doing, is worth doing right. But in this case... I hope he gets it done so everybody can forget about it. Sad crap.

Bobbie Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 03:59 PM EST

Look at his success in his last tour, people love him. Record sales will pop the top off your Dr Pepper bottle.

Bobbie Overman Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 03:55 PM EST

I have heard samples of the new album with his last tour, I am convinced chinese democracy will be awesome. Think of all the talent that will be released. The musicians are outstanding.

carmen Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 11:06 AM EST

I agree with B.K.K... Everyone He is a very talented man. He works and had worked hard to make the music that he has. I am a Guns and Roses lover and listen to their music quite often. And anyone who is younger or never heard their music before asked who it is and love it!!! I seen kids who are 12 rock to the music. Alot has also read about him. You cant doubt this man. He is a hero to alot of people because of what he was before he became an artist and what he has done to get there. He showed that it can happen to anyone who believes. Now how can anyone NOT respect that from someone?? that also goes for other artist who fought their way up.

"theCloser" Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 09:59 AM EST

I’ve heard some versions of “Chinese Democracy” and “Madagascar” in videos by Vimeo, and if they are any indication of the quality of music we will hear on the Chinese Democracy CD; then sales will set records, and the CD will be deemed a rock and roll masterpiece. Axl’s voice is stronger and healthier than ever. The new sound that Axl has developed for Guns has matured and evolved into what GnR should be, and certainly will have more relevance for current times.

Thomas Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 07:52 AM EST

Hey,
Its good to hear that the album will be released, however i don't care what axl says, i still think it will be released when hell freezes over or when all his ex fans have died of old age before he suddenly announces that it was all just a joke.
The only thing that i'm gonna be dissapointed about at the end of November is that Dr Pepper aren't gone out of business.

Realistically, do any of you really believe that this album will be out next month? i don't and i haven't cared now for a long time.

Dale Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 06:59 AM EST

Axl has never promised an imminent release of Chi Dem. Get your facts straight before writing such a poor article.

Vince Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 11:32 PM EST

Does anyone seriously think that this album will live up to expectation? No, it won't. Ever. But if it does get released (and it's looking very possible), i'll pick it up. I'll just enjoy it for what it is, a new pack of songs. Hopefully Axl hasn't failed at making songs that are good to listen to.
