On a Scale of 1 to 10: The likelihood you'll see this Jessica Alba movie

Categories: Deals, Film, On a Scale of 1 to 10

Jessicaalba_l According to Variety, Jessica Alba is set to star in the "modern-day fable" An Invisible Sign of My Own. Per the trade, "Invisible revolves around a young woman who has retreated from the world and is consumed by numbers and math. Things begin to change when she becomes a second-grade math teacher."

On a scale of 1 to 10, how likely is it that you'll see this movie? I'm at a 1, but only because the director is from Mad Hot Ballroom and the writers penned one of my TBS staples, The Wedding Planner.

Zero...I have one reason. Please tell me. Has anyone suffered through the movie HONEY? Wow, I've seen some bad movies before but WOW!!! She needs to be in silent movies.

I didn't know there were so many
outright haters out there. Maybe, she
should know her place in America and
just play stereotypical roles.

Not sure gonna have to see the trailer first to make my decision, if jessica alba's in it it shoudl be an ok film!

Rob Grizzly Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 10:43 PM EST

I'll judge by the trailer. If I decided what movies to watched based only on the pitch, I'd never watch anything...

Raven_Moon Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 05:28 PM EST

I'm not sure about this one. It doesn't really sound like something Alba would be in, but who knows? I'll just wait to see a preview before I judge it.

Phil Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 05:21 PM EST

Sina, please elaborate - Jessica Alba the "actress" or Jessica Alba muted and wearing little-no clothing?

Jo Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 04:45 PM EST

10. I will be first in line. Finally, a role that will show off her range. We were all away to see glimpses of it in "The Eye," though the script had major problems, and to an extent, "Good Luck Chuck," which showed she was able to do slapstick comedy charmingly.

Infinity x -8

Nee Nee Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 01:17 PM EST

There IS no liklihood that I would see this movie. I never consider watching Jessica Alba movies.

paige Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 01:05 PM EST

jessica alba is a horrible actress... seriously! she couldnt even pretend to act bad in Sin City...

Scott P Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 12:58 PM EST

Darn, I was going to give it a chance if she was in lingerie most of the movie, but then I saw the school teacher part. Guess that won't work... Unless she dresses as a naughty school teacher! Then it'd maybe get to a 6 or 7...

Rahul Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 12:23 PM EST

The likelihood of me seeing this movie is also a 1. I am, however, completely confident that Jessica Alba can handle 2nd grade math.

SusanS Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 12:02 PM EST

First they destroyed "Then She Found Me," and now "Invisible Sign of My Own" - 2 of my favorite books. There is no way Jessica Alba can capture the essence of the book's main character. Plus they'll probably turn it into a slapstick comedy. Argh.

anne Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 11:10 AM EST

I think odds i'll see this are a 0. When was the last time she had a hit film? I can only think of the fantastic 4 films and even those are iffy hits compared to other comic-book based franchises. All of her other films have bombed badly. Not necessarily her fault of course but the truth is she has yet to prove she is star that put people in movie seats. The fact that she is attractive and a tabloid staple is the only reason Hollywood continues to gamble on her. so no I won't be seeing this film.

Snarf Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 10:51 AM EST

Do you accept fractions?

Annette Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 10:29 AM EST

Oh dear. This book is wonderful wonderful wonderful. Jessica Alba is the last person I would ever picture in the film, however.

KLF Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 09:47 AM EST

Can I make mine a -11? This chick can't act her way out of a wet paper bag! Seriously, name 1 movie of hers (that she has to carry, no super heros) that has been good or made money. Betcha can't!

Gretchen Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 09:34 AM EST

Absolutely 100% ZERO!!! I can't stand her and, quite frankly, don't really get all the buzz about her.

Zet Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 09:27 AM EST

Wow, she's going to have to show a lot more skill than I've seen so far to pull off being a mathematician, second grade teacher(??). Let's see, I'd give it a 7 (1 being hot to see it and 10 being cold) -- but only on cable, on a boring weekend.

SAVE SWINGTOWN! SAVE SWINGTOWN! SAVE SWINGTOWN!

JoeC Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 09:03 AM EST

It's Jessica Alba and she's the hottest woman in the world. I am there.

Jael Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 08:46 AM EST

It bugs me that there are great actresses who can't get work because they aren't gorgeous like Alba. She needs to stick with modeling and leave acting like Mischa Barton did.

Mells Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 08:41 AM EST

It doesn't grab me in the slightest. This is not a $10 movie ticket item - maybe if it's on cable some rainy afternoon a couple of years from now and nothing else is on....

Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 08:31 AM EST

Thanks, Joanna, for the rec on the book - I've just ordered it.

I'm a math geek and this idea intrigues me! Jessica is ok, but given quality material she could work out ok.

Onno Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 07:52 AM EST

it's jessica alba post pregnancy I just wanna see what she looks like plus she's hot that's good enough reason for me to watch:-)

Joanna Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 07:07 AM EST

This movie is based on an amazing book by Aimee Bender. It's full of magic and realism and it's gorgeously written. I recommend the book above all else. I'm not sure what Alba will add to this but I'll see it regardless. I give it a 10 already.

Cinderella Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 07:02 AM EST

I'd say -100. She is just a terrible actress.

Sina Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 06:40 AM EST

Does anyone watch Jessica Alba movies for Jessica Alba?
