'Big Brother 10' winner Dan Gheesling on house hygiene, the Judas comment, and his future plans

Sep 17, 2008, 01:25 PM | by Lynette Rice

Categories: 'Big Brother', Reality TV

Dan_l EW talked to Dan Gheesling, the 25-year-old Catholic school teacher from Michigan and quite possibly the nicest winner in Big Brother history, about his landslide victory, his thoughts about Jerry and what his girlfriend Monica asked him once the show was over.(Catch Josh Wolk's Big Brother finale recap here.)

What did you think of the unanimous vote in your favor? Who did you think was the least likely to vote for you on the jury?
Man I was hoping to get four votes … maybe. But 7-0, wow, what a phenomenal feeling. I thought Keesha and Renny were solid but the others were up in the air. I thought Jerry and Libra would vote for Memphis and April, Ollie and Michelle would decide the game. I think this is a first in Big Brother history. (Editor’s note: He’s right. It is. Even the Big Brother master, Dr. Will, had two votes against him in season 2.)

We saw your girlfriend Monica hug you at the end. Did she think you acted like a good boy?
Monica was pretty supportive but I had some questions to answer. One had to do with my sharing a place to sleep with Keesha. I assured Monica that I built a wall of pillows between us and put a picture of Monica on top of the pillow wall. I told Monica it was for game play. Any girl would hate to see her boyfriend in bed with a girl as beautiful and charming and nice as Keesha, but we were just friends.

There was speculation in the house that you were America’s player. Did that last for long?
I had to fight that off every second thanks to one woman: Libra. She started the America’s Player conspiracy. It went on constantly. I always had to battle it. (Editor’s note: Dan was America’s player for one week, and won $20,000 for it.)

It’s all over now Dan, so you can say it. Who was really a vile person in the house?
You’re trying to get me in trouble here! How about we say who was the most un-clean? The person with the least amount of personal hygiene was Jerry, but we still loved him. At 75 he doesn’t need to wash his hands anymore.

Was it just us or were you always yelling to the camera in the diary room? Are you just a loud talker?
I tried to be very inconspicuous, very calm, in the house. I’m very calm as a teacher. But after school as a coach I like to get fired up. So in the diary room I’d like to coach up America. That was my chance. I took it and ran with it.

Let’s go back and talk about specific things in the house. I have to start with what you said at the start of the game … that you think a trip to confession will help wipe the slate clean. Dude, really? Are you gonna go? And what on earth will you say?
Without a doubt, I’ve already spoken to the powers at be back at St. Mary’s and arranged a three-hour confession. Part of being Catholic is that you’re not supposed to lie and manipulate, but that’s what you have to do to win. The St. Mary community was behind me 100 percent. I didn’t want to be seen fighting or dropping f-bombs. I didn’t want the kids (back at school) losing their temper, and they never saw me do that. I played Big Brother the best that I could. I stayed within the confines of the rules, though there are no rules in Big Brother.

Let’s talk about Jerry’s Judas comment. Were you hurt by that or were you more hurt by the implication that Jessie, of all people, represented Jesus in that scenario?
Neither was offensive. It was like water running off my back. I never let it pull me in. I knew what they were trying to do, but it was not worth getting into personal fight over religion. I was focused on the game.

Jerry was in your face a lot. Did he scare you?
No, Jerry’s a big teddy bear. He’s still is tough man, though, who could beat me in a fight.

Can we go back to that HOH competition when Michelle won and we heard Jerry trash-talking you in the background? Do you remember all the crap he said?
When Michelle won, it felt like Jerry won. He was in my face, pointing his finger in my face saying 'don’t hide behind the cross,' blah blah blah. He got so fired up and made it so personal, but I never did anything to him in the game. I voted Jessie out, not Jerry. He acted like I took shots at him but I never put him in harm's way but he took things so personally.

Now let’s talk about when you won against Ollie. We at home were pretty suspicious that you were the only one wearing a hooded jacket during what turned out to be a very wet challenge. Ollie said he was half-nude. How is it possible you knew to wear a jacket?
I’m been waiting for this question. In this game, it’s not about being bigger or stronger, it’s about being smarter. I knew we hadn’t done an endurance competition yet with any kind of liquid, so I decided why not wear a jacket to be prepared? Sometimes I carry out a long sleeve shirt and throw it aside if I don’t need it. This was the one case where I got lucky with it. There was a lot of speculation that producers told me to wear it. Being a Big Brother fan I was suspicious about how involved the producers were, but there was no funny business. No one told me to wear a jacket.

What are you going to do with the money and please don't say you’re going to give it to charity.
Here’s what I’m going to do. Some time in the near future I’m going to buy Monica a gift to fit on her ring finger. Other than that I may invest it. I’ll stay at St. Mary’s and continue the job I love. I may even set up a college scholarship for Big Brother alumni -- but only for the non-winners because the winners won’t need it.

To all the haters, name callers, judgers and other proponents of immaturity, hipocracy and self- righteousness:

Dan did not attack anyone's appearance or that of their spouse, boyfriend or girlfriend in the house. He did not ever call anyone names of any kind unless it was clearly intended as endearment. Dan did not EVER attack anyone's performance within their own religion, nor did he ever attack the validity of anyone's religion. Keesha said she was Catholic and clearly conducted herself differently than Dan but he never said anything about it.

Be VERY sure that I am not comparing these two people, but if you look to history for who WAS probably the most loved person in the world, He had haters too, and for many of the same reasons. Just ask yourself are they destined for any worse than you?

DAN IS THE SMARTEST PLAYER IN BB HISTORY, PERIOD.
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO ACCESS THE BLOGS FOR THE PLAYERS. THANKS.

ok I think you have serious issues about About Dans girl friend--you mean it in the nicest way--the things you say about her--holy cow--the girl has donr nothing to you or anyone else--nobody has made her out to be some Goddess if anyone did it was Dan and thats his right because thats what love is--if you think beauty in your mind is what makes a person--well I hope one day you find life because cutting her down the way you did for her doing nothing but being the girlfriend of Dan is pathetic--so deal with your own issues before you start judging others and maybe you will see we are all not perfect--but we can still be wonderful people just as you may be an awesome person--

Brandi C. Fri, Sep 26, 2008 at 01:38 PM EST

Sorry but Dan's girlfriend Monica is ugly as sin. She looks like a rabid **** who raided her mama ****'s make-up drawer and decided to try applying mascara and rouge in the dark! Have you seen pictures of this poor thing? She looks absolutely petrified in most of them, like some overwhelmed rodent peering out at the sunlight for the first time after spending it's entire life living under some putrid rock, along with the worms and the grubs and the rest of Dan's family.

I mean this all in the nicest way but when Monica was born her mother, filled with disappointment at the sight of this abomination that had just protruded from her nether regions but desperate to make the best of an atrocious situation, remarked to her husband, "Aw what a treasure!". The father, having none of his wife's maternal denial, quickly shot back "Yeah, let's go bury it."

Boo Thu, Sep 25, 2008 at 08:44 AM EST

I love his this intelligent, religious man brought religion into the house almost from DAY ONE. He used it to lie, cheat, and manipulate his way to the win. You're a disgrace dude, simply because of that. Had you left religion at home, where it belongs perhaps I'd feel differently. It's too bad you won. It pretty much says a lot about the Catholic religion and those who flaunt it when they feel it will benefit them. Ugh, sorry Memphis, I was rooting for you!

jackie testa Tue, Sep 23, 2008 at 10:09 AM EST

Dan was the most classiest contestant ever on Big Brother! I am so glad he won! I have never missed a episode ever in 10 years and Dan was hands down the best. Keesha and Renny were my favorits also. So if any of you guys read this WAY TO GO!!! The best big brother ever. Hope to see yalll on more reality. Jackie in Rhode Island

Pat Tue, Sep 23, 2008 at 08:51 AM EST

This was my absolute favorite Big Brother show ever. I loved Dan. Sad because there will be no winter season for B B.

mahdi Mon, Sep 22, 2008 at 03:59 PM EST

Dan's the man, and im sure even the most loved person in the world would still have people hating on him....
Its a game...period. Dan played it, the others didnt, so boo ho for those who hate dan.
who was really honest in this game? i mean come on, dont tell me B-baller or Evel dick or Janelle or even Dr.will were ever honest when they won it, and dan is nicer than all of these people.
dan never attack no one in this and you know what? for future partipicant in the bb house, take his advice and dont let your emotions control you.....I am a black dude and even is someone made remarks to my race or something, i still wouldnt attack them. thats dan being the man

jackie Sat, Sep 20, 2008 at 10:45 PM EST

You did America proud!

danfan Sat, Sep 20, 2008 at 07:55 PM EST

i dont care what anyone says, Dan deserved to win and he did. So all you haters can hate, but it's not going to change the fact that Dan has 520,000 dollars and is the winner of Big Brother 10. He played a great game and stayed true to his character so i applaud him for that. WAY TO GO DAN!!!!!

chris Sat, Sep 20, 2008 at 07:12 PM EST

I am sooo happy that you won, Dan. You kept me entertained and you played with dignity. I'd be proud to call you a friend. Congrats on your landslide win!!!

v Sat, Sep 20, 2008 at 04:42 PM EST

So you could have chosen the Christian way to play this game and if you fell to sin along the way, you could have ask forgiveness but INSTEAD your plan included choosing a path of lying, manipulation and cussing to win the money, asking God for forgiveness and making it up to him later! Oh Ye, DAN, of little faith!

So…would it have been WORTH the lying, manipulation and cussing if you would not have won?

v Sat, Sep 20, 2008 at 04:39 PM EST

Dan,
I was supportive of you until I read this comment from you that you made during your interview with Entertainment Weekly. Now I’m so DISAPPOINTED!

Dan replied: Without a doubt, Part of being Catholic is that you’re not supposed to lie and manipulate, but that’s what you have to do to win.

Do you realize how this sounds? According to you…you felt the only way you could win Big Brother and the money required you to lie, manipulate people and drop the F-bomb.

Not every person who has been on Big Brother went on the show WITH A PLAN to lie, manipulate and cuss. Believe it or not, you could have won WITHOUT lying, manipulating and cussing!

This is a terrible reflection to your students. You’ve taught them that they can plan to sin to get what they want because they can ask forgiveness.

I think God would rather we sin without planned intention and then ask forgiveness instead of choosing to sin knowing that you can ask forgiveness?

NOLAMIMI Sat, Sep 20, 2008 at 03:54 PM EST

Dan, you didn't just make me proud as a Catholic you made me proud as a mother and because you held your head up HIGH!! St. Mary's School and Monica along with your family should be so PROUD OF YOU!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brandi C. Sat, Sep 20, 2008 at 03:29 PM EST

Sorry Dan but you played only an adequate game when you figure in the fact that the rest of your cast were completely stunods! Plus, you're one gangly dude, Dan. You've got the body of an 8-year old girl and are about as pigeon-chested as they come. Suprisingly you have nary a chest hair and yet your disgustingly hairy arms and legs put even Robin Williams to shame. Then there's the matter of your skin which always makes me think of one of those connect-the-dot puzzles because of the sheer number of moles, zits and blackheads that seem to multiply at each passing day. Anybody order a pepporoni pizza? And what's with that disaster of a hair cut, kid? It's about as caliced as hair can be and extremely greasy at that. You are just one mess of a human being and I wouldn't be surprised one bit if your parents weren't brother and sister. And then there's your girlfriend who, no joke, literally scares me with her freaky eyes, bucktoothed smile, stocky build and that beak she calls a nose.

Jean Sat, Sep 20, 2008 at 01:10 PM EST

Dan, thank you for wanting to make it fun for us, the viewers, and for being classy and a regular all-around good guy. I was THRILLED for your win, and was pulling hard for you. Best of luck to you and your lovely girlfriend, Monica, and never change, you're wonderful just as you are!

To 'Disapointed' Sat, Sep 20, 2008 at 12:34 PM EST

Way to go Dan, as a fellow Michigander, I was rooting for you all the way. I can honestly say you played a great game. You and Memphis were nothing like Dr. Will and Mike in season two, you guys had class!! I was pleased to see you give a positive spin on our state! All the best.

Audrey Tipton Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 11:20 AM EST

Dan is cool, Renny is cooler.

Laurie Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 10:46 AM EST

Best of luck to you Dan and Monica. Truly one of the best seasons since Dr.Will in Season 2. Both different players but extrememly strategic in their ways of winning. I was rooting for you from Day 7 after Brian was eliminated. So glad you swept them all!

matt Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 10:18 AM EST

The key to getting to the finals in this game was making wise decisions in pressure situations. Everyone sitting in the jury played the role of the fool, easily manipulated and controled by the machinations of Memphis and Dan. You have to credit them. They played a great game of divide and conquer. All they did was ignite the fires of bitterness, anger, cursing and hate, then extracate themselves as the pot boiled over into a hot mess each week. The lesson here is that taking advice from those seeking your demise is counterproductive. If you looked hard enough you could see the "giant sucker" flashing above the heads of the jury members as they realized how stupid they were allowing Memphis and Dan to walk away with a car, a trip, and all kinds of cash prizes as they were picked off one by one, even leaving their pride behind. It's amazing how different you see things when you are forced to view the whole picture. Who knew such a lowlife game would teach such a valuable life lesson?

dwight Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 05:24 AM EST

I liked him a lot until I read what a homophobic arsehole he is.

Amber Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 05:01 AM EST

Congrats Dan, you deserved it...you played a GREAT game! You were my pick from day one, and good luck with Monica.

sunny Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 10:15 PM EST

I was so glad to see Dan win. He's right, you don't have to play the most athletic or energetic game, you have to play the "smartest" game. That's what he did, and that's why he won. I can't fault him for that. And to those of you who have nothing good to say about the cast of Big Brother 10, how can you justify watching when you're giving the show minutes of your lives you'll never see again?

Mary Nicholas Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 06:07 PM EST

I am so glad Dan won. As a teacher it feels good to see him win it all. Go Dan!!!!

David Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 05:33 PM EST

This was the best BB because Dan was such an excellent player. I bet loser April was sick to see Keesha win the 25G's as audience favorite. I still laugh when I remember April saying she thought Keesha was jealous of her because she was better looking! Keesha was soooooo much hotter than April.

Stevie Kurowski Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 03:41 PM EST

Oh My goodness Dan had to be the hottest Big brother player ever.

I loved watching every minuet of his game play he kept things exciting hes a chill guy.

ITA Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 01:26 PM EST

that hag was a total nutbag. What a lulu she was. and Shelia, who was nearly twice her age looked hot in the unitard, because she had the right tude to rock it. Manchelle hated it - so she just looked stupid in it.

To 'Monicas,' etc Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 01:23 PM EST

Its true the producers had a bed on hold at the psych ward - but it was for MICHELLE.

BillyT Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 01:18 PM EST

Why do people keep referring to BB9 as "last fall"?! The season began around the 13th of FEBRUARY, and ended in April! Of THIS year!

To Monajax Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 01:14 PM EST

How cool, I am glad for you! Not surprised to hear how gracious they both were, either. Clearly, they were both 'raised right', and basically are nice boys. i knew Memphis was like that early on or he would NEVER have been so upset by coarse, bigmouth Jerry's unwarranted accusation. But please - Katrina and Ike were/are both nightmares. One crisis or tragedy shouldn't be 'put down' to bring attemtion to the other. But I understand you are upset right now. Glad the BB boys gave you a smile!

lee T Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 01:09 PM EST

Wow...reading some of these remarks just make me shake my head. If you don't like BB why watch it? Why take such slaps at the contestants who, I will remind you, ARE JUST PLAYING A GAME!

Personally I liked season 1 the best and got bored with many of the other seasons and last fall the producers got caught pulling some stuff and trying to influence the storyline, which almost turned me away. This season I thought was the best since season one. I did like Dick though, he was intertaining even if I learned to mute the tv alot!

Don't be haters you all and if there is a weakness try to say it nicely to the contestants, there is no reason to be calling them names and cutting them down.

Dear Schaud whatever, I don't care Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 01:08 PM EST

A "grade A sycophant" who is $520,000.00 richer than YOU are! LOL!

Sue K Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 12:47 PM EST

Very nice interview. And it is nice to see Dan is the man we saw. He played true to himself. I think Memphis did also. How refreshing. This season made me rethink the life od BB. I fuigured that after 9 it was going down hill. But truly this is not the case.

You wrote a wonderful article. Dan makes you want to be his friend, that is why he won.

Schaude N. Freude Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 12:08 PM EST

Cutiepie,

Talk to me when you graduate from your training bra. Typing in all caps shows you're no more than a tween groupie who feels unthreatened by a nice boy like Dan because he doesn't have a hair on his chest and listens to Weezer. Dan wouldn't pee on you if your New Kids on the Block shirt was on fire. Also, Dan has already admitted in numerous interviews that he copied much of Will's gameplay as well as persona in the house including such idiotic details as wearing the same shorts all season, never wanting to cut his hair and forming a pillow wall when he slept with Keesha. He's about as derivative a reality show contestant as they come by his admission. I've never seen someone go so far out of their way to bite off another person's style and mannerisms. It's pathetic and speaks volumes on what a blank slate this kid must truly be to offer us nothing of his own true self. Sorry cutie pie, but your boy is a grade A sycophant.

Jen Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 12:07 PM EST

Dan was always aware that he was aware that he was on a show and of his part in it. Memphis just kind of clinged on to whomever. I was VERY SHOCKED that Keesha won America's Favorite. VERY. Heh, I think April was too :) Renny should've won America's Favorite.

Billy Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 11:31 AM EST

Ames, no it isn't. He spells his name Jessie. That's the way it is on the site and that's the way it was spelled for the four weeks he was in the house.

Ames Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 11:12 AM EST

Ummm Lynette Rice it is Jesse and not JESSIE. Dumb arse.

BklynGirl Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 11:01 AM EST

Oh please, there were some good players this year! Libra was smart, she could have gone further if she'd skipped the catty girls alliance. Dan had a target on his back from the moment Brian was eliminated. Dan slipped in & out of the radar and never, ever made the game personal. There were times he overplayed his hand (Replacement Nominee Roulette) and he always managed to wiggle out of harms way. He was Jerry's target for weeks, and Michelle & Ollie were after him too. I love Dr. Will & he will always be the BB Master (imo), but Dan played a great game. He mastered the strategy and social part of the game. Dan deserves credit for staying out of the fights and the vile personal attacks. He should be proud of the game he played. Well done Dan!

I met Dan (& Memphis & Monica) in the lobby of a hotel in LA last night. I made quite a fool out of myself but Dan & Memphis were so nice (& adorable) to take time out to take a picture with a middle aged lady. They were obviously on their way out to dinner, but they patiently stopped to allow me to fumble around with my cell phone until I could get my camera function working. I'm from Houston & am in LA working..I have to say this was such a great treat to meet these guys after having to deal with IKE.

BTW: don't forget us in Houston America. I live an hour away from the coast, but my poor husband back home will be without power until Oct. 5. It was hard to leave him behind, even tho I had to for work. He was glad that I could be in a location with power. It is disappointing that the damage from IKE and the people that are suffering, especially along the coast, do not appear to still be on the radar of the public. Katrina had NOTHING on Ike.

You were an example to the kids that every other word doesn't have to be an expletive to express yourself. You showed the kids how to keep your composure, not get emotional in the heat of the moment, & not take things to heart. It served you well. You will draw on this experience as a teacher to motivate your students throughout your career. This $ will allow you to continue your passion for teaching & coaching knowing you have a good retirement & the security to provide a comfortable life for you & your future fly. Congratulations.

I am huge fan of Dan, that's the way to do it Dan the Man, and by the way he did not let Memphis, do his dirty work, it was the other way around. He played the game like it should have been played. He was calm cool and collective, and for the comment that Schaud N Freude, Dr. Will was not all that, Dan the Man was more compassionte that Dr. Will, are you jealous, because you didn't get on the show. I LUV YOU DAN THE MAN!!!!!!!!! WAY TO GO I AM A DAN FAN, AND BY THE WAY HE WILL BE FAMOUS, I AM EXPECTING TO SEE HIM ON OTHER SHOWS OR COMMERCIAL, HE JUST HAVE THE LOOKS!!!! DONT' HATE.

Patricia O Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 08:55 AM EST

Dan deserved to win the money. He played a great game and was always 2 steps ahead of anyone else. I thought for sure he would lose when he became America's Player, but he didn't. Will miss watching Big Brother now that it is done once again!!

Wojo Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 08:42 AM EST

TJ and PNBL, why does it matter how people got on the show? It's the network's show, and there's no unit of measurement to determine who is better for the show compared to someone else. This isn't the SATs. Once they're on the show, then things have to be equal for everyone, but choosing the contestants is completely up to the producers. If they walked into a bar and grabbed 13 people at random for next season, that would be their right. Holding fair and equal tryouts for everyone in America for a show that requires no specific talent but a blend of different ones at different times doesn't even make any sense. Should they hold a a decathalon where applicants have to compete in various mental, physical, and emotional tests and then choose the top 13 or so? Would that make you happy?

No love for Dan here. Sharing his bed with Keesha was a slap in the face to his girlfriend. Imagine her, her friends & family having to see that! Seems whatever Dan wants to do, he does. Probably spoiled rotten by Mommy. BTW- in a few weeks, people will forget about Dan & that dumb ass "Rennegades" alliance. If he was truly a "rebel", he would've been a man & not had Memphis take "hits" for him. (Keesha, nominating Memphis for eviction, etc.). The comparison to "Cowboy" is accurate. He too thought that he would be a "star" after he left the game. Didn't happen for him, won't happen for Dan.

SarBear Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 08:10 AM EST

Conrats Dan!! One of my all time favorite players. He deserved to win this season!! Congrats to Memphis ($50,000) and Keesha ($25,000) too!!

Schaud N. Freude Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 07:50 AM EST

Dan definitely had the hots for Keesha. It must have been so embarassing for his girlfriend to watch her partner fall over himself drooling for this girl week after week. No wonder she had to send him a shirt that said "TAKEN" across the front of it. And he actually WORE it! He might as well have just worn a sign around his nut-sack that read "This space for rent".

This season was truly dreadful. Why does this show still come on? Oh, that's right, Julie Chen is fellating the Les Moonves. How silly of me!

And as for the Dr. Will comparisons. Dr. Will was a handsome, charismatic superstar. Dan, on the other hand, is an acne-ridden, pigeon-chested little man-boy with about as much wit and charm as a sheet of urine-crusted toilet film.

Monica's Ugly Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 07:39 AM EST

I absolutely agree with the people who say that Dan simply coasted through this game because the cast this year were a bunch of morons. Think about it, you've got the most gullible 75-year old man on the planet who actually fell for Dan's HORRIBLE acting, you've got Ollie who we all can agree is about as bone-headed as they come, then there's Renny who probably put the producers over budget because of their need to have a bed always on the ready for her at the nearest psych ward. Who's next? Jessie? Do I even need to say a word? Then there's Michelle who spent more time dreaming up conspiracy theories in that house than Oliver Stone. I mean it really says something when the Hooter's waitress is able to outsmart half the people in the house and make it to the final 4.

Dan dragged a geriatric to the finals with him! I'm sure past BB players would have KILLED to have that same opportunity. Dan, congratulations! When it came to losers this season, there's no denying YOU took the prize!

Ken Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 05:33 AM EST

i have to give Dan credit, as a teacher, he carried himself well. On that sleazy showtime show, i never saw him fight, or swear up a storm, and when they talked sex, he would just put a pillow over his head. he was always conscientious about his profession and Memphis noted that repeatedly in defending Dan's supposedly uptight behavior. As a game player, Jessie was far more entertaininging, but with all the type A personalities (Libra, April, Michelle, Keesha, and Jessie), Dan couldn't help but slide under the radar and win.

crystalrose Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 03:19 AM EST

Congratulations Dan! The ONLY player who truly deserved to win! Nice guys DO NOT finish last ~ they come in 1ST & win half a million dollars!!!! Loved you from day one! He never lost his temper, & his sense of humor & WIT made the show as good as it was! I didn't think ANYONE could outdo Evil Dick in 9. You never knew what was going to happpen with him, but you sure did & in such a NICE way! A nicer guy I don't think there will ever be! There is only one Dan, & if they have an All-Star I hope Dan is on it!! I have never heard anyone speak so good either. Dan is great with words, & he always had the right thing to say! Way to go DAAAANNN!!

Debi Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 02:54 AM EST

an did NOT PLAY the gamehe rode it on other peoples backs...sit back and rewatch the season...even he admits it...the others were so busy TRYING to scheme that he slide right in under the rainbow everytime

Valerie Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 02:07 AM EST

Loved Dan --even though he gave me a headache every week yelling at the camera. I love when a good guy wins!

thevisitor Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 02:06 AM EST

One of the best seasons of Big Brother, and Dan is definitely the best player in BB history! Finally, two of the best players in the house made it to the Final 2. But that shouldn't be a surprise because the Renegades were the best alliance since Chill Town. I'm glad Dan won BB10, and Keesha won the Jury Prize. Dan, Memphis and Keesha couldn't have written a better script. (I'm glad opinionated and pushy Renny didn't win anything.)

tammy Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 01:20 AM EST

Great job Dan! My family really enjoyed this season. It was great to see how you and Memphis kept your cool. So many others on there were so annoying. It seems like all of your plans worked, even when you were making Memphis do the dirty work. For once, the winner was someone we wanted to win.

Alicia Wed, Sep 17, 2008 at 11:44 PM EST

Congrats Dan!!! You played a GREAT game and you really deserved it. Thanks for making this season so fun to watch.

Carrie Wed, Sep 17, 2008 at 11:06 PM EST

SO happy Dan won.. He deserves every minute of glory and every dime he has won. It was a perfect ending. All 3 winners deserved what they got and I turned the TV happy as oppossed to really mad. DAN IS ONE CLASS ACT! By far the BEST most RESPECTED player EVER in BB history!! THANKS for a great summer!

Shirl Wed, Sep 17, 2008 at 11:05 PM EST

Is this the last season of Big Brother. I heard that the ratings aren't where they would like for them to be.

squirrel Wed, Sep 17, 2008 at 11:01 PM EST

How can anyone say that Dan is the best player in Big Brother history? He basically won due to the fact that there actually were no good players in the game this season. It was as bad as Big Brother 9. Has everyone forgotten about Evil Dick and his game play or Dr. Will. Manipulation is what this game is based on and Dan was just lucky enough to be in their with a bunch of losers who had no clue as to strategy.

PNBL Wed, Sep 17, 2008 at 10:59 PM EST

Yeah,...I agree with TJ! How can people who never try out for the show, get on? Yeah I heard that Kessha and James never tried out for BB and they just got picked to be on the show! That isn't fair to people who try to be on the show, it takes the spot away from someone actually trying out for it! Hm,...good question TJ, makes ya think about reality tv, doesn't it? On saying that, I would like to congratulate Dan on his win of BB10! I was glad he won over Memphis! But would have liked to also see Renny Keesha and Jerry in the final 3! Good Luck to the previous houseguest of BB10! Renny would have liked to see you get the 25k. Hope to see you in the next All Stars! :)

A huge fan of a wonderful man who is called Dan Wed, Sep 17, 2008 at 10:35 PM EST

Go Dan! He was cute, he was nice, he was hilarious, and he knew to play the game. I liked him from the beginning, and my sister and I still like to mock him shouting in the diary room, and like to shout some of our favorite things he said.
