Trailer Blazer: 'New York, I Love You' and 'The Secret Life of Bees'

Do you like any of the people currently working in Hollywood? Then you'll probably love this trailer for New York, I Love You, because they are all in it. And they all directed it, too! This'll be in theaters February 13, 2009, just in time for real New Yorkers who are in love with the really attractive things about New York (themselves) to see, alone, on Valentine's Day. (Kidding!) (Not really!)

Meanwhile, the fast-approaching film adaptation of The Secret Life of Bees (in theaters this October) looks pretty much exactly like what I pictured while reading the book, the paperback version of which I found last winter in a plane's seat-back pocket. (Score!) I even imagined Alicia Keys in the book, though I think that's because the blaring iPod attached to a sleeping woman next to me had "No One" on repeat. Wow, I could've made that entire story up.

What do you think? Any takers? Bee nice!

Can't wait for "New York, I Love You." There has been such a shortage of films and TV shows set in and about New York and New Yorkers. I cringed at the line, "New York isn't so big." How many times can that line POSSIBLY be reused?!

Both look great! I absolutely adore the book The Secret Life of Bees, so I'm super excited to see the movie. I didn't quite think Dakota Fanning was Lily, but since she's an amazing actress she'll pull it off. I'm happy with the rest of the cast, I think everyone will do a good job.
The other film looks very interesting, and I'll be checking it out for sure.

Annie, that "Bees" story is hilarious. I don't really even care if it's not true.

Mmm... Bradley Cooper and Shia in a movie (among other great folks I couldn't catch).

"Bees" was an incredible novel; I hope that the big screen treats it right.

I'm also happy to see Michael from the Wire in something else, and I'm hoping his stop in 90210 doesn't derail a budding career.

While I was going to see New York, I Love You in any case, because, well I do love New York and I'll see anything with Natalie Portman in it, the trailer has me incredibly juiced for this movie because it looks like the first ever Hollywood movie to depict New York's Hasidic community accurately, at least based on the wardrobe in the scenes shown. Plus, how cute is Natalie with a wig...

Oooh, that boy from Huff is in New York, I Love You. He's awesome and way more talented than the overrated Shia.

One reason New York, I Love You is now on my must see list: Cloris Leachman (neigh!)

The Bee movie looks interesting, but I think Dakota Fanning is overrated. Unless it gets glowing reviews, I'll probably skip it.

It's good to see that Michael from The Wire made it out of Baltimore.
