What's on your catching-up-with-TV Must List?

Aug 20, 2008, 04:23 PM | by Annie Barrett

Categories: Must List, Television

Brotherssisters_l We're wondering -- as your summer TV consumption has undoubtedly curbed itself in favor of air-conditioned cinemas, sunlight, and (possibly) interacting with real humans, which TV shows are you cramming to catch up on before their fast-approaching fall premieres? Personally, I'm trying to get back into season 2 of Brothers & Sisters (pictured) on DVD -- I stopped watching after season 1 and need to know if the Walkers ever did improve on their impressive 3:1 ratio of Bottles of Red Wine to Family Arguments per episode. I'm also attempting to make a significant dent in How I Met Your Mother on iTunes... and I haven't even tapped into Hulu yet.

What TV series are you determined to catch up on? Please include your e-mail address so that we can get in touch with you in case we decide to use your submission in the magazine. Deadline is 5 p.m. ET on Thursday, August 21.

namar Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 10:56 PM EST

and also... DEXTER!! haven't seen the second season at all

namar Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 10:50 PM EST

Mad Men- I'm pretty caught up there.
LOST- I've seen every ep more than twice... but it's on hiatus so... 1-4 here we go!
Prison Break- I gave up on the show in its second season, when it started getting ridiculous...
Arrested Development- HILARIOUS SHOW!!! watched the first 5 eps on Hulu... can't wait to finish the series... PLUS there is a movie coming out! YES!!!

Jess Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 09:08 PM EST

Prison Break! With Sara coming back on the show I have to get caught up on what I missed...I can't wait for Michael and Sara to be reunited.

Pushing Daisies, Greek, Torchwood, and Bones!

Doctor'sCompanion Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 03:20 PM EST

Medium, Torchwood, Doctor Who, and Pushing Daisies.

Melena Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 02:45 PM EST

I have seen all the episodes of Chuck, Heroes, and Pushing Dasies, but I feel like I would have to watch them again to remember what the heck was going on. Another show I need to catch up on is Brothers and Sisters. I loved the first season and watched the beginning of the second, but after the writer's strike I didn't get back into it. I missed the whole discovery that the mysterious "R" is actually another Walker son and the whole Justin/Rebecca hook-up.

Ramon Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 12:51 PM EST

1)Watched Seasons 1-3 of the Office on DVD, and Season 4 on Hulu
2)Watched Seasons 1&2 of Bones on DVD, and watched Season 3 on Hulu

bradywrites Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 11:46 AM EST

I'm trying to finish my way through Reaper, since I lost track of it in the post-strike craziness. I'm also getting through Season 2 of Torchwood.

Sally Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 10:47 AM EST

I'm rewatching seasons 1, 2, and 3 of Bones, and I'm also watching Gilmore Girls. I'm also watching Gossip Girl, House, and Grey's Anatomy when I have time.

Joann Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 10:26 AM EST

Earlier this summer, I watched the entire first season of LIFE on hulu.com and can't wait for it to return this fall. Also, I am watching the Sarah Connor Chronicles - I caught the first 3 episodes on hulu and have continued with the rest of the episodes on tv. I have to say I am going to steal a line from Summer Glau's character -- "9 mm." I laughed out loud!

caroline Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 10:02 AM EST

Ever since hearing that Michael Rady from Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants will be seen on the upcoming season, I've decided to catch up with "Greek" before it begins again.

Also, I can't wait to watch Skins and Gavin and Stacey in their entireties, since I can't seem to find every episode in order!

rachel Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 10:02 AM EST

Lost- I stopped watching after season two, and I'm slowly making my way through season three online.

Dina Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 09:50 AM EST

I like to catch up with my favorite serial killer by winding down before bed with an episode of Season 2 Dexter. It doesn't always lead to the best dreams, but it's worth it.

Conor Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 09:12 AM EST

here in Canada we had a network called CH 11 that showed 'The Closer' it wasn't a pay-cable channel, then CH 11 re-branded and turned in to E! Channel and dropped The closer, so I had to buy season 3 on DVD, I can get The Closer if I pay for 'Super Channel' but I think it's better just to wait till next summer and fork out $40 for season 4

Silv Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 08:53 AM EST

I've been catching up on "Weeds", this marvelous little gem that I don't get on my cable package. This show dares to go waaaayyy out there...!

"Friday Night Lights" Season 1: I jumped into the series during Season 2 when ken Tucker and everyone else raved about the show. I didn't get it. Now that I'm halfway through Season 1, I get it. What a great show. Hopefully things will be on track for Season 3.

Alex Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 05:10 AM EST

Oh man, my life is one long TV-catch up session. I’d only recently finished watching Deadwood on DVD – and am now feeling that endless pit of sadness that this brilliant show was cancelled.

Can you believe I still haven’t gotten anywhere with Dexter, Terminator, Pushing Daisies, Damages, 30 Rock, Mad Men, The Riches and Dirty Sexy Money?!

AND I’ve only gotten as far as season 3 with 24??!! And haven’t even reached the end of Friday Night Lights season 2 yet! There’s no way I will ever catch up. I am Netflix's b*tch for many years to come!

Crystal Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 03:37 AM EST

Thanks to hulu I am rewatching the awesomeness that is Life to get ready for season 2. SO GOOD.

I am all caught up on everything else, but also rewatched pretty much every episode of Pushing Daisies before I had to delete them to make room on the DVR for Olympics. Can't wait for the DVDs and season 2 of that as well.

Emrah Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 03:04 AM EST

Gossip Girl.. As we're about to indulge into comparisons between NYC & LA teens with the debut of 90210.. The Starter Wife.. And the UK series Life on Mars as the US version will start on Oct..

Dana Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 12:34 AM EST

I've been watching old episodes of "The Shield" and can't wait until its premiere in September! Wouldn't it be awesome if Vic turned out to be Internal Affairs????? Can't wait to see the final season twists. . . .

Sina Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 12:11 AM EST

I have to catch up on my Eureka! The third season has started and I'm a little behind but from what I'm understanding I will be crushed watching the I Do Over episode.

Raven_Moon Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 11:23 PM EST

I'm behind in watching "Samantha Who?" & "Prison Break." Although, I am considering just giving up on "Prison Break" altogether.

Greg Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 11:10 PM EST

I know I have until January, but my wife and I just finished season 3 of Lost. We were going to hold out and watch season 4 on DVD in December, but may just watch it crammed together at the computer desk on Hulu. Too many questions need answering!

Em Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 10:49 PM EST

When I'm not watching the Olympics I'm gorging myself on How I Met Your Mother- I'm on disc 2 of Season 2. Why have I not been watching this show since it started?

Josh Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 10:11 PM EST

Pushing Daisies is amzing even on its second viewing. It's whimsical and inventive and I love it.

Goob Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 09:28 PM EST

I'm trying to get to Heroes and Reaper. But the olympics are taking up all of my time. And the post-strike eppies of Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy on VHS because DVR taping other shows.

palais Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 08:13 PM EST

I did finish How I Met Your Mother seasons 1-3 ( I love that show, and wish I could remember it's on Mondays). For fun, I rewatched Scrubs seasons 1-7.

snarky Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 08:09 PM EST

just recently caught up with MAD MEN...Did a Season 1 marathon a few weekends ago and then started watching this season on the "ON Demand" section of the cable system....It is well worth the time! I love Peggy, Don, Pete and especially JOAN. I am also in the process of finishing "Friday Night Lights" season 1, which I started watching about half way through. CLEAR EYES, Full Hearts, can't LOSE!!!

Nicole Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 07:49 PM EST

I watched the first two seasons of Brothers & Sisters this summer and I am now hopelessly addicted. Can. not. wait for Season 3 to start. I want to be a Walker, and with my Irish heritage I'm pretty sure I could match them drink for drink!

donner Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 07:37 PM EST

I feel like I need to jump in the Mad Men pool...I also have 3 eps of Pushing Daisies from last November still on my TiVo that I need to watch again, even tho I'm ready to watch a new episode right now...

Vlada Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 07:18 PM EST

I'm finally watching "Bones," but I'm not even done with the first season yet.

tad Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 07:09 PM EST

I am determined to get through the second season of Heroes before the new season starts. I did all of Season 1 in about a week so I think I can easily get it; it is just a matter of finding it. I also really wanna watch both seasons of 30 Rock as I have heard it is a really good show and I wanna be able to watch the new season when it starts. However, I really don't think that I am going to get through both before next month. I hope to but we will see!!

Miriam Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 06:31 PM EST

I know it's not premiering until the winter, but I've been catching up on Reaper. It's been great, and each episode brings more depth to the characters. I can't wait to see where it all ends up for S1 and on to S2. Ray Wise is great as the Devil, and Sock is one of my favorite characters on TV right now.

bonash Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 06:18 PM EST

i watched all of season 3 of sunny in Philadelphia over the weekend. can't wait for sept 18!

BJohnson Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 05:28 PM EST

Dexter...you know I'm sorry, I just can't pay for the cable premium just for that one show. I got a free weekend of Showtime that showed the first 3 episodes of the 2nd season and I've just been lost. It came out on DVD and I'll get it. Also Pushing Daisies. That show is just awesome. It's coming out on DVD in Sept so I can catch up right before the premiere in October.

dsquaredfrmasquared Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 05:06 PM EST

Damages and Ugly Betty. ABC.com is annoying me because they no longer keep all of the episodes for a season up on their site. So when I went to look for this spring's episodes, they were gone and haven't shown up again as repeats. If ABC had had that practice last year, I wouldn't have gotten hooked on Brothers and Sisters in the first place. I've thought about trying to catch up on Pushing Daisies, but the shows I missed aren't there and I don't care that much about it to keep looking.

Broadway Baby Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 04:49 PM EST

Mad Men - and it's kept me from watching the new season so I'm probably in the same situation next season.

Joslyn Hansen Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 04:37 PM EST

The whole series thus far of How I Met Your Mother is my summer project (1 season down...2 to go?) and I do keep thinking about catching up with the second half of Gossip Girl.

Erica Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 04:29 PM EST

I'm going to try to catch up on Damages, Prison Break, and ER

Stacey Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 04:28 PM EST

Good lord, I have to catch up on Dexter, Heroes, Sarah Connor Chronicles & 30 Rock! I tried to cut back my on my tv habit last year, but I'm going to say it: I'm a TV addict and I'm okay with that. Thank you iTunes, Hulu, and the gods who invented DVRs.

Liddy Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 04:18 PM EST

I've been meaning to catch up on Chuck. I think I've seen all the episodes, but I'm not positive. I got hooked in the middle of the season. Stupid NBC won't put them all up at once their website. Corporate idiots.

Laurie Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 04:17 PM EST

I've managed to catch up on just about everything I need to before the fall season starts, but I still have to watch Life. I saw about half the episodes when they aired and then missed a few and I decided that I'd just marathon it during the summer. It's so good that I thought I'd save the best for last. Once I'm done with that and once the fall season shakes out, I will be watching the first half of this last season of BSG, and I can do it nice and leisurely, thanks to the hiatus.

Sabrina Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 04:07 PM EST

I've been TRYING to catch up on Gossip Girl and How I Met Your Mother... but the darn Olympics keep getting in the way!

Ep Sato Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 04:03 PM EST

I need to catch up on Season 3 of Lost. After the show got all sympathetic to the Others, I got really mad and promised to stop watching the show. But how can I really stop watching Lost? I met my wife because of that friggin' show!

Anyway, it's netflix time so I can catch up and figure out whether or not I feel like jumping back on the "cliffhanger every week" bandwagon...

renni Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 03:55 PM EST

The writer strike sent me looking for dvds and the first thing I did was get Buffy the Vampire Slayer seasons 2-5, since my cable didn't carry that network for those years. I also took a friend's advice and watched Veronica Mars for the first time. I now have a list to tide me through in case someone else goes on strike.

Jamie Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 03:55 PM EST

Having recently acquired BBC America, I am playing catch up on series one of Skins, a show that put all of teen dramas to shame as well as seasons one through three of Doctor Who.

love it Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 03:55 PM EST

LOST this past season...

megC Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 03:44 PM EST

I started watching the Sarah Connor Chronicles half-way through, so I'm starting at the beginning and watching them all to refresh my memory. I also am excited to watch Chuck - hopefully Nicole Ritchie doesn't mess it up - and Pushing Daisies - yay for Autumn Reeser! again and will probably try to catch up on those.

Todd Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 03:40 PM EST

When its on network TV, I'm usually pretty good at keeping up with the shows I want to keep up with. When it comes to those pesky cable shows, though, I can never remember what time they're on and I always seem to fall behind (Bravo being the lone exception because I need me some Top Chef and Kathy Griffin). What all of that means is I've still only watched like 2 episodes of the second season of "Dexter" and I REALLY need to catch up. Even with the shows constantly on the "On Demand" list, I still just can't seem to get them watched. I'm already playing catch up when it comes to Weeds and now I've got to do it with Dexter too? Sigh, its too hot to be working this hard!

daisyj Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 03:39 PM EST

I still have the last two episodes of Heroes on my dvr and I'm determined to get to them before the new season starts... as soon as I get through the approximately thirty hours of recorded Olympics I've accumulated over the last two weeks.

b0bbyr0we Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 03:30 PM EST

Seeing an interview with Blake Lively and realizing that she's lovely (and not, as I had assumed, the second coming of Mischa Barton) + Shirtless Chase Crawford in my subway station = anyone know how I can catch up on Gossip Girl for free?
