'Dancing With the Stars' season 7 cast: Exposed!

Aug 21, 2008, 02:17 PM | by Annie Barrett

Categories: 'Dancing With the Stars', Olympics, Reality TV, Television, The 'Eh' List

No, I'm not referring to their Burnt Sienna-tinted flesh -- your eyes will have to wait exactly one month to be singed by that. Gossip Sauce has posted Dancing With the Stars' season 7 cast -- it's not confirmed yet, so take it with a grain of salt or, more appropriately, one lone sequin.

UPDATE, August 25: According to ABC's official release, Rocco DiSpirito will replace Mark McGrath, who faded away sooner than predicted. Other than that, for the next few months....THIS IS YOUR LIFE! Erica Kane! Frau Blücher! Jefferson from Married...With Children! My early allegiance has to go to Misty May-Treanor, who along with partner Kerri Walsh, pounded the Chinese into a sandy pulp last night to become back-to-back Olympic beach volleyball gold medalists. I am DIGGING this news, you guys. She's going to ACE this competition. Maybe she will KILL someone. Okay, that's enough. Here's some quick evidence of Misty's already-perfect dance moves. My obnoxiously flippant initial reaction to the complete cast list is below.

Kim Kardashian: Ugh.
Lance Bass: Of course.
Toni Braxton: "Say you love me a-geh-ainnnnn..."
Brooke Burke: Her?
Maurice Greene: Do not spray-tan this man.
Cody Linley: Who?
Susan Lucci: This does not bode well...
Warren Sapp: Mmm...beef.
Misty May-Treanor: :-*
Ted McGinley: Oh, cool -- the series will be cancelled post-season and I'll get my life back!
Mark McGrath: "...and fade away..."
Rocco DiSpirito: His legs look like nice-uh spaghett-iiii
Cloris Leachman: EMTs, stand by.
Jeff Ross: Ha?

Who's ready? (I'm really not, yet.)

Bre Mon, Sep 1, 2008 at 04:59 PM EST

So I'm totally on Team Lance for this season. Just like I was on Team Joey when he was on. It's an *NSync thing.
Cody: Not so sure I dig the fact that he's on here, it's probably just because he kissed Miley. Then again, maybe he's trying to prove that at 18 he can do more than be a Disney star.
Kim: Um..excuse me, what makes her famous in the first place? I don't see anything spectacular about her. So she has money...pretty sure that there are tons of people who fit that criteria...she's nothing special.

kate Sun, Aug 31, 2008 at 06:50 PM EST

wow cody linley! what is he like 12?

HulaMama Sat, Aug 30, 2008 at 12:00 PM EST

I'm just happy that Alec Mazo is coming back......!!!!

Jenn Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 01:25 PM EST

Initially, I didn't want Lance Bass to go far, but since I've heard he's partnered with Lacey Schwimmer, I hope they go the distance.

To Reality Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 11:36 AM EST

People did not call Shannon a skank but she was at least an actress or decent poker player. Kim is a second rate Paris, which is very pathetic.

jen Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 10:23 AM EST

what about the pairings? Who will they all be paired with?

Iris, I would say that the early money would be on the other Olympian, Maurice Greene.
Athletes have won for four straight season. Yes, I am considering Helio to be an athlete. I expect great footwork from Maurice - a track & field Olympian.

Reality, there are people who don't watch. Every season, the ratings for this show have gone down. After awhile, there are only so many quickstep routines you can watch before you have to turn off the tube.

Floral Gal Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 09:09 AM EST

Does Balls wear rubber gloves when he waltzes Kim around? STD's spread fast.
Brooke has lost all her popularity from days gone by, she should have stayed married to the dentist so when the rest of her fades,at least she'll have dentures. All these people trying to get famous again is so pathetic most especially Brooke. I would love to see some new fresh person win the next one, such as this new young Disney boy, we've already had old & has-beens lets get some young stuff on,and Julianne is the one to do it,look what a fantastic job she did with Apollo. This young person can probably move like a gazelle, I will watch him closely. My closing words will bemI think they should have paramedics standing by each week, first for Cloris, then to test everyone who came near Kim.

Rocco DeSpirito? Ewwwwwwwwwwwww!

duranmom Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 06:44 AM EST

For me, when they announce the cast at the beginning of every season, I have to figure out who they are (Cristian de la WHO?!?)and can't imagine these people dancing and hanging out in the back and *gasp* getting along. But every year I am pleasantly surprised by the "stars" -- whether they be a D-lister, an olympic medialist or Oscar winner, or somewhere in between. They come, they get all "dance floor ready" with the glitter and the spray tans and the somewhat tacky outfits, and they dance on liiiiive TV (some really good, some not so good). Kudos to all of them for giving it a shot.

Iris Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 06:33 AM EST

First off, Annie! Great to read you again! Love your snarkilicious comments :)

Secondly, I am totally okay with this cast, even the ones I've never heard of before, like the kid and the comic.
Agreed, Ted McGinley is a show-killer, hopefully not this time though. Hubby's early money is on Misty May (oh how he loved the Olympic beach volleyball) but MY early money is on Susan Lucci. Maybe she's a better dancer than actress. All I know is, I can't wait for the show to start!! Love ya, Annie!

Reality Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 10:54 PM EST

Gotta love it. Same dumb comments every year. "Where are the stars?" WHEN HAVE THEY EVER HAD STARS? Only famous people. There IS a difference.
Clooney, Damon, Cameron Diaz, Beyonce, Miley... even Michael Phelps right now... THOSE are stars. And no celebrity on that level will EVER... E-E-E-VER... compete on DWTS. Not now, not ever. DWTS only gets famous people. NOT stars. You will NEVER get stars. Deal with it. Lance Bass would never have done DWTS at the height of N'SYNC-mania. Too big a star then. Not anymore.

About the Kim K. comments: From the same people who said they wouldn't watch when "that skank Shannon Elizabeth" was on. They were the first to post "I can't believe she got eliminated, she should've stayed another week, etc." So there goes THEIR credibility.

Finally, to the "I'll never watch again" commenters: You LIE. We'll see your posts after episode 1. Happens every season. You say you won't watch, but you will and you know it. So can it with the false threats.

ks Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 06:57 PM EST

Let's just give the mirror ball to Misty right now and save the pain....

McNLT Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 06:30 PM EST

i'm excited for this season. misty may-treanor is an amazing volleyball player and i'm looking forward to seeing her dance. lance bass is so sweet and has some great moves that haven't been seen in a while and cody linely, what can i say. he's my fav from disney channel and i can't wait to watch him and his cute face and comedic attitude act. overrall, i think this season is going to be one of their best and no one should skip out on it. :D

Daryl Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 06:21 PM EST

Interesting group....to up the anty, it would have been fun if they had put Lance Bass with a male partner. Would have made for some interesting tv!

Bugaboo Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 05:32 PM EST

I'm watching only for Lance.

Jennifer Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 04:37 PM EST

Max & Misty all the way baby!!!! :)

Berdenia Broes Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 04:08 PM EST

They are getting hard up, I've never heard of half of them. I use to get excited over who was up for another season. I think I'll sit this one out for sure. Nothing exciting here.......

Betty Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 04:00 PM EST

My son and I are skipping this season because we don't like the cast.

MsDaisy Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 03:27 PM EST

Jeez...can't even be bothered to write a new story, can you?

Bobbi Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 02:46 PM EST

You left out the best news - MAKS IS BACK! I'm a happy girl! :)

Sharlin Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 02:41 PM EST

Lance for the win.

Carmela Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 02:10 PM EST

After reading all the comments I thought I should post mine.So lets start with Cloris-NO,MISTY-no she's too tired LANCE-no,SUSAN-no-no, TED-no ,ROCCO-maybe,TONI-heart-attack,JEFFREY-who is he?,MAURICE-who is he,KIM-everybody get a health card because STD's spread fast,WARREN-don't be surprized,CODY-Don't know him, but Julianne did wonders with Apollo so I'm keeping my hopes high,I'd like to see a Disney star do it,and although I like Julianne I hear her singing career is'nt going yoo well, let's face it she'll never be a Carrie Underwood.
I'm so darned happy that Lacey Schwimmer is going to be a choreographer, that gal can dance up a storm, just like her brother Benji...Last but not least, puhleeze, who's going to get rid of Samantha Harris????????????????????
I'm so happy Max is back,I hope he gets happy since he was so in love with Willa Ford who wound up marrying Mike Modano. It's not going to last, she should have chosen Max.I still have the tivo of how he gazed so in love with her.

Fletch Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 02:03 PM EST

How could any of you be offended by what catsuny said? I couldn't understand a damn word he/she was saying.

Here's hoping we see ALOT of Kim K., if you know what I mean...

boyboy Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 02:01 PM EST

I know lance bass and his twin brother are on it, they were out together the other night

http://www.yournobody.com/2008/08/21/more-proof-houston-is-loser-central/

jfm Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 01:59 PM EST

To all those people who don't know who any of these contestants are this year, congratulations!! You actually have a life. However, don't spoil it for those of us who do know who these people are with your griping and complaining. They are all stars in their respective fields. It's not called "Dancing with the Superstars"--if it were than you might see your Brangelina's & your Tom's & Julia's but until then be quiet and enjoy the camp value. (I can't wait to see Cloris wipe the floor with Brooke & Kim)

Billy Bob Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 01:47 PM EST

Conundrum:A paradoxical, insoluble, or difficult problem; a dilemma:
Love Misty-hate Maks, Love Lacey-Hate Lance, Love Edyta-Hate Jeremy, love Toni-Hate Alex. Susan is like fingernails on the Blackboard EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!No conundrum there-Tony is just as grating. Gonna be interesting.

Billy Bob Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 01:32 PM EST

Hooey, My favorite all-time contestant is back as a pro. Lacey, Lacey, Lacey!! Too bad she's with that punk Lance. How am I gonna feel when this starts??? And my favorite Pro< Julianne is back with a KId. (He's actually only 1-2 years younger than her. Actually a good group of "stars" know then All except Cody and Rocco. Should be a good season. BTW: how does Derek get all the hotties?

J Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 01:27 PM EST

I think I'm anxious to see how Lacey Schwimmer does as a pro. I think Cloris Leachman might be ok. Of course its the las season since Ted McGinley = show killer.

JMO Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 01:18 PM EST

Misty May and Maks? oh that will be hot. He had Laila Ali, then Scary Spice. now Misty May. All strong strong women. Should be fun to watch.

to catsuny Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 01:17 PM EST

Please pay attention to your typing.

S Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 01:15 PM EST

Those of you who hated Marie Osmond will soon feel that way about Susan Lucci. The word DIVA comes to mind.

Michael Martinello Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 01:11 PM EST

What people don't know is Jeffery Ross is an accomplished tap dancer. You wouldn't expect that from this funny man but he is a total "Dark Horse" in this competition and is my pick to win it all.

garth Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 12:12 PM EST

WTF? Very B-List

Tim Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 12:10 PM EST

They almost had it right. Just replace McGrath with Dispirito and you're all set. With the addition of McGinley, I guess they plan to do some fancy leap over the shark. And won't Toni Braxton feel overdressed in those outfits?

coda Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 11:57 AM EST

WTF is an "INTER RACIEL LOVER"?
So pathetic

Jenks Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 11:57 AM EST

"Stars" are so-so, but I'm glad to see some new pro blood. Lacey Schwimmer should be a welcome addition to shake up the ladies a little. Glad they've brought in a mature dude for Cloris. Go Frau Blucher!

jen Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 09:50 AM EST

no Fabian Sanchez? I thought he did great last season with Marlee Matlin.

to catsuny: Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 09:25 AM EST

There are lots of negative things to be said about Kim Kardashian; please explain to me how being an "INTER RACIEL LOVER" is one.

texaslas Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 09:25 AM EST

Here are the pairings:
Lance Bass--Lacey Schwimmmer (from SYTYCD)
Tony Braxton--Alec Mazo
Brooke Burke--Derek Hough
Rocco DiSpirito--Karina
Maurice Green--Cheryl
Kim K--Mark Ballas
Cloris Leachman--Corky Ballas (Mark's Dad)
Cody Linley--Julianne Hough
Susan Lucci--Tony Dovolani
Misty May-Treanor--Maks
Ted McGinley--Inna Brayer
Jeffrey Ross--Edyta
Warren Sapp--Kym Johnson

jubjub Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 08:25 AM EST

EW is only minorly wrong. Chef Rocco Dispirito in lieu of McGrath. During the announcement they mentioned Cody will be paired with Julianne Hough, IIRC Maks, Edyta and Kym Johnson are all back this season.

Amy Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 08:18 AM EST

They just announced the real cast this morning and everything you have is right except Mark McGrath. Chef Rocco DiSpirito is the last person.

catsuny Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 08:06 AM EST

Well here all go again.I checked out the cast ,ah kinda sucky ,Kim K white trash ABC how low can you go? the sr.citizen thing could be interesting .BUT Ido not watch anymore,Icant Samantha Harriss,ITS my choice and I do know others who dont watch because of her.For ABC TO PICK THE PORN, BIG ASS, WHITE TRASH, INTER RACIEL LOVER SHOWS AMERICA THEY HAVE NO CLASS AND ENCOURAGE AND PRODUCE GARBAGE .MYopinion and my choice not to watch so for all who do enjoy have fun...please pay attetion to the real picture

Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 01:56 AM EST

Cloris will kick everyone to the curb.

mehere Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 12:57 AM EST

Not a very inspiring list.
And what about the Dancers? Will Julianne be back?

Sun, Aug 24, 2008 at 11:37 PM EST

I kinda like Cloris Leachman too. I bet she may surprise us. I just hope this isn't the final list. I don't know half these people. Would love to see more stars I've heard of on the list. I believe these names are just rumors. Can't wait till Monday morning to find out who the final dancers will be.

sonotwatching Sun, Aug 24, 2008 at 10:53 PM EST

Since I only watched TV on Mondays it seems I do not have to turn it on at all since I'll pass on the show this season. Worst cast yet! Sorry SAMATHA WHO (really liked the show) your show is not enough to switch on the tube.

Bridget Sun, Aug 24, 2008 at 10:44 PM EST

If you don't like it, don't watch it...and don't complain. Misty is very outgoing and charismatic (actually so is Kerri) so it should be fun to watch.

Larry Bryant Sun, Aug 24, 2008 at 09:26 PM EST

A little disappointed with this years "stars". Have been a fan of the show since the beginning, but to hold me as a fan these guys are going to have to show me something early in the season. I do think that Ms Leachman may surprise so of the people whose comments I just read. Have seen a lot of her work. She's a real pro and wouldn't have accepted if she thought she'd disgrace herself.

Jerry Sun, Aug 24, 2008 at 07:22 PM EST

Kim Kardashian: so...Brooke Hogan was too busy?
Lance Bass: Being in a boy band doesn't make you a ballroom dancer
Toni Braxton: As long as they don't make her sing...
Brooke Burke: Dating someone famous doesn't make you a star.
Maurice Greene: He may have the moves, but he's hardly a star
Cody Linley: Maybe my 10 year old daughter will watch
Susan Lucci: Hasn't she learned she never wins anything yet?
Warren Sapp: A fat gut and bad knees. Yeah, he's my pick!
Misty May-Treanor: No stranger to embarrasing herself for applause
Ted McGinley: Ditto.
Mark McGrath: Like Lance Bass, but handsome
Cloris Leachman: Someone should tell her TV isn't in Black and White anymore
Jeff Ross: Inexplicably unafraid of being voted off the show

Luly Sun, Aug 24, 2008 at 07:12 PM EST

I've never heard of some of these people. Why can't they get people who are known? But it's going to be hard and has been hard, to top Emmitt Smith. He had grace, elegance, and style.

Katrina Sun, Aug 24, 2008 at 04:16 PM EST

I think this group is a nice balance of celebrity. I like to give them all a fair shot, before I go negative. You can be very amazed at, who wants to really dance and who is willing to put in the long hours of work. That is one thing that makes DWTS so interesting and keeps you watching.
Some people are too quick to judge...and some are just too nieve to open their mouths at all. It is television people! Enjoy it or change the channel!

Sun, Aug 24, 2008 at 03:53 PM EST

My gosh. Who are these people? Aside from Kim K (ewww), Lance Bass (yuck), Toni Braxton, and Susan Lucci...who are these other people?? And let's not even go there with Cloris Leachman...she's 500 years old. I love her and she's wonderful...but too old for the show.

Linda Sun, Aug 24, 2008 at 03:13 PM EST

All these stars suck!! Why bother to even watch this show. It's getting old and tired...time to retire it to the archives.

Melanie Sun, Aug 24, 2008 at 03:12 PM EST

Sholuld be interesting

Rain Sun, Aug 24, 2008 at 12:28 PM EST

Misty May All the WAY!!!!!!

Alex Sun, Aug 24, 2008 at 04:44 AM EST

I had to Google 7 of these names to figure out who they even are!

sam Sun, Aug 24, 2008 at 04:33 AM EST

Last year TMZ announced names of so called DWTS contestants in early August and they only had about 2 right when the announcement was finally made by ABC. I hope most of these names are wrong. I never heard of most of these people. Where's the real stars?

JB Sun, Aug 24, 2008 at 01:50 AM EST

To Miss Anthropic, Brooke Burns dated Bruce Willis. Brooke Burke was a Playboy model, host of CBS's "RockStar" and is engaged to David Charbet of "Baywatch" Fame.

Miss Anthropic Sat, Aug 23, 2008 at 08:03 PM EST

Kim Kardashian: Can u say OVEREXPOSED
Lance Bass: No comment. He seems nice.
Toni Braxton: Probably promotion for herself and to help her dedication to Autism.
Brooke Burke: I guess she has to do something since she's been out of the spotlight since breaking up a while ago with Bruce Willis.
Maurice Greene: Don't think he needs spray tan .... this is not where olympians should be IMO.
Cody Linley: From Hannah Montana? Ugh. Please stop self promoting Disney so much it's nauseating.
Susan Lucci: Love La Lucci ... I'd like to see how far she gets ... she has performed in Vegas often with Regis on same bill but sep. It seems every year or nearly they have a soap person ... why not this year.
Warren Sapp: I wonder what he'll do here for unsportsmanship
Misty May-Treanor: So much better than this!
Ted McGinley: Happy Days...Married w/ugh.
Mark McGrath: How the Hot have fallen
Cloris Leachman: Go Granny Go!
Jeff Ross: This should be good ... gotta love The RoastMaster General.

shay Sat, Aug 23, 2008 at 05:22 PM EST

Who's Kim K? Never heard of him.

Jeanette Sat, Aug 23, 2008 at 01:45 PM EST

Why are people so darn mean about who is chosen to appear on Dancing With The Stars? Its a television show, shut up and watch it!

star Sat, Aug 23, 2008 at 06:40 AM EST

I only heard of 5 of those people. Geez. Couldn't they have found some real stars. After all...is is called Dancing With the "STARS".

BERAND KIRSCHNER Sat, Aug 23, 2008 at 12:54 AM EST

Get some good names for the show.

B. Kirschner
Oceanside, CA.

matty C Sat, Aug 23, 2008 at 12:08 AM EST

Erica Kane (Susan Lucci), YES! Mark McGrath, heck yes! Kim Karashian, no, please someone make her go away. and i'm sorry but Toni Braxton is too talented to have to be forced to be on this show... record labels please sing her and promote her butt off.

Britney:) Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 11:56 PM EST

Did you read what Mrs. Kristy typed.. for all you guys been in the the balconies is because you are not Rocket Science like Mrs. Kristy... in other words she doesn't think highly about you guys because you are not dressing properly for the event "like she did" Wow! I am very impressed! How sad!

sampedranita@aol.com Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 11:38 PM EST

Mrs. Rocket Science... perhapes you were in your lucky day... or probably you went once! Friends and I we went the whole seasson or probably you are one of those that like to be seen on CAMARA...LOL hm?

Kristyl Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 11:18 PM EST

I say YES to Susan Lucci...we have been trying to get her to do this for some time now! We should be so lucky! She will be amazing if she is on! And by the way, I have a great time at the tapings. If you don't want them parking you up in the ceiling, dress nice and look good on camera! It's not rocket science LOL...

Mamuchita Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 10:49 PM EST

The downside of all of this.. is that ABC doesn't change their stage and they used the people on the balconies for the look on CAMARA, but if you ask anyone who has been sitting there PEOPLE don't see ANYTHING and on top of that!!! they have 2 small 12 inches TV hanging from the ceiling far far away from you that makes it impossible to see our celebritries on the dance floor.. from those balcanies all you can see is 1 inch of the dance floor. Ushers are very rude!!!! Hopefully they can change it and people can enjoy it. It's unfair with all the money they have and they don't try At all to keep the AUDIENCE happy instead they call security to scort you out. People are better off to watch it from HOME!!!!

Katie Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 10:30 PM EST

Omg pretty cool cast this season! Esp. Ted McGinley I Lv him, he's totally amazing! I was hoping he joined!

Alan Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 09:24 PM EST

Wow. The longer this show is on the air the more D-list these celebrities become!! It's the top-rated reality show on the air, pretty much, can't they attract anyone better than this despicable E-list bunch of nobodys????? JUMP THE SHARK! JUMP THE SHARK!!

jealous Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 06:04 PM EST

Ha ha ha - jealous of Kim K? ha ha ha her family must be on this site defending her. ha ha ha ha trash = Kim K

TorontoTom Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 06:02 PM EST

What happened to football great Dan Marino? He was rumoured to be on this season.

jmo Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 06:01 PM EST

Also - I heard that Cloris Leachman was to be on but pulled out. Haven't heard who the supposed replacement is.

Dell Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 06:01 PM EST

Who are the stars? I thought I kept up but did not know many of these personalities or whatever they are.

JMO Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 06:00 PM EST

Susan Lucci - yuck and yes I watch AMC but fast forward thru her. Vanity-plus. She has has experience on broadway. She will over play her role just like on AMC. Kim K?? barf choke gag. Porn star - rich spoiled trash. I am cringing for whoever is her partner.

Molly Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 05:19 PM EST

Yawn.

Silv Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 05:18 PM EST

Annie, say it ain't so! This breaks my heart. Even the Lucc won't do it for me this season. I stopped watching soaps, especially AMC, years ago. This is soooo over.

susie Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 05:13 PM EST

These names are all just speculation. Monday is the official announcement. EW is turning into TMZ now...

Ryan Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 04:48 PM EST

someone should put these women on that show, they certainly think they're stars

http://www.yournobody.com/2008/08/19/you-must-be-poor-rich-guys-dont-date-women-their-age/

JP Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 04:37 PM EST

OK, I know I'm not as hip on things as I used to be, but PLEASE, I thought it was Dancing W/The Stars, not Dancing w/the D-List!!

DANCING QUEEN Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 03:58 PM EST

To all of you KIm K haters - have you ever seen their reality show on E ! because my opinion of her changed after watching that series of shows.I had hoped that her Mother Kris Jenner would also be one of the dancers - that was a rumour. Anyway - most likely Kim K will lose weight , and get in awesome shape during the run of the show, like many other dancers before her. Cloris Leachman in the cast worries me - is she in good enough health ? Hopefully all o fhte celebs are carefully screened ...

Smelly Bottom Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 03:21 PM EST

I agree with you, ugghh.

I'm sure that if Kim were standing in front of the husbands of the ladies posting on here, they would sell their wives out in a second for a chance at her.

And the guys - well, their venom comes from the fact that they will NEVER be with someone that smoking hot.

Jealousy spawns anger indeed.

Jacob Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 03:12 PM EST

Wow!! I am very excited to see Cloris, Susan L, Lance & Maurice Green dance on DWTS!! Kim and Brooke, please leave the cast and please be replaced by Melissa Joan Hart and/or Corbin Bleu!

Crystal Diane Stevens Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 03:05 PM EST

Wow. Watch a bunch of has-beens this year. Last season, the only real star was Priscilla Presley. This time they didn't even have someone of her level. I'm surprised they just don't toss in the guy from the Suwbay commercials and be done with it.

Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 02:51 PM EST

Cody Linley is an actor/singer from Hannah Montana.

I can not wait for the show to start,

ugghh Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 01:42 PM EST

Some of you people on this board are a little over the top. Why all the hostility towards Kim- what has she ever done to you? Jealousy usually spawns anger, I guess?

Greyhound Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 01:02 PM EST

I hope Kim K. gets slammed by a bus and leaves this world before taping begins. Nobody wants to see that nasty skanklette on the show.

monkey Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 12:58 PM EST

kim k is only a celebrity b/c she SOLD a SEX TAPE

who cares that she holds down and job and hasn't been arrested? she isn't a CELEBRITY, ONLY A HO

DWTS better rethink this...watched since the beginning and WILL NOT watch if she is on...let me know when she is voted off

dacub Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 12:57 PM EST

Not a big fan of Kim K .... but to all those talking about her big ass have you seen Misty May's ? Could be a separate show ... maybe a quiz show bet your big ass..............

Mars McDaniel Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 12:00 PM EST

Um...am I the only one who remembers season 4? As in...the year of the Apolo? (And Laila Ali, too, can't forget her :)) I'm not? Good. Nothing, NOTHING is wrong with being a "current" athlete and doing DWTS. I mean, Apolo did it, balancing training time with dance practice, and still managed to come out absolutely shining. Misty's just amazing, so she should be great. If this isn't just a rumor, of course!

L Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 11:52 AM EST

So long as Maks gets a good partner, I'm happy! Some of these people I've never heard of. Every season they start throwing out names before the announcement...everyone just take a chill pill and wait for 8/25 then we can start complaining.

strickens_girl Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 11:16 AM EST

This show is still on? Wow. I stopped watching after John O'Hurley was robbed in season 1 and forgot it was still on the air.

Oh, and Betty - of course Lance Bass is going to dance with a woman. What? Did you not think there were gay men dancing ballroom professionlly? Please! There are plenty of gay men who dance with (gasp) women.

Sandra Brown Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 11:10 AM EST

Why all the negative remarks about K. Kardashian- Yeah, she got busted on the sex tape scandal , but if that is the best you have then just leave it alone. She works and earns her own money, she is not getting arrested for DUI's or drugs and she is not constantly in the public eye for other horrendous activities. So my question again is why all the negativity?

Josh Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 10:43 AM EST

Let me know when Kim K gets voted off so I can start watching the show.

TommyB Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 10:06 AM EST

Cloris Leachman is five hundred and twenty five years old.

I just saw her on the Bob Saget roast, and while she is absolutely terrific, she just doesn't move that well. I think that one has to be made up.

Agree, though, that after watching SYTYCD it's going to be hard to get interested in some of the early rounds. You know, the Mark Cuban/Penn Jillette type dances. they're just...boring.

Fletch Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 09:57 AM EST

Re: betty's post.

I hope Lance dances with a woman, but that's just so that all contestants can be judged equally.

Frankly, I'm not very concerned about whether or not my children see him dancing with a man. They are intelligent, tolerant, and kind enough to not get scarred by such a "horrid" thing.

Freaking bigot!!!

mj Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 09:53 AM EST

susanlucciSUSANLUCCI!!
ooh FABULOUS!!

MsDaisy Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 09:49 AM EST

I'm still waiting for the scoop that Samantha Harris WON'T be returning to the show. Any hope?

Sean Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 09:47 AM EST

Toni Braxton? I already got her recap nickname ready... Mumbles! You can never understand a word she sings sometimes. Cloris Leachman, Misty May, and Susan Lucci will be fun! Kim Kardashian can just plan to be voted off immediately... I guess a big ass and a sex tape and a famoous step-dad can get you everywhere...sad.

Snsetblaze Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 09:18 AM EST

Chloris Leachman is an interesting choice - an older woman instead of man this time. But isn't she now in her 80s?

Scott Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 08:28 AM EST

What a shame about Mark McGrath. Honestly, I think Sugar Ray is a really underrated band. I understand they're generally dismissed, but if you get beyond just the singles, and get into some the their deeper album tracks, a band with a really distinct personality and sense of songcraft emerges. McGrath should be devoting 100% of his professional efforts to getting this fine band going again, and not to doing stupid gossip and game shows.

whoarethesepeople? Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 08:20 AM EST

I never even heard of some of those people! They need to find some more celebs that we can root for...not a bunch of nobodys.

Kurt Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 08:20 AM EST

I'm sorry, but after So You Think You Can Dance this year, I don't think I'll be able to sit through DWTS any more. I'm spoiled by more dance styles and non-muzak sounding versions of the songs. And there's no Cat Deely! The shark is jumped for me on this one due to a superior dance show.

BumbleBee Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 08:20 AM EST

Kim Kardashian? LOL! i cant wait to see her fat ass try and master the tango! LOL! what a joke!

MJ Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 07:49 AM EST

Misty will rock on DWTS! I really hope this isn't a rumor because she loves to dance and I think would offer a great new personality (she's fun-loving, a jokester and the girl next door).

huhWHAT? Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 06:10 AM EST

Even the soothing tones of Tom Bergeron's "LIIIIIIIIIVEEEEEE!!" and Annie Barrett's recaps won't be enough to get me to tune in to this bunch. Hugs to Mark McGrath and Maurice Greene, but its a NO here.

Dance Fan Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 04:42 AM EST

As usual, I don't mind this lineup. It seems heavy on the athletes but they usually perform well. I actually like Mark McGrath and think he'd be a good fit - he's pretty cute! I could live without Kim K but the talentless hottie usually gets weeded out pretty quick. It would almost be worth it to see her humiliated in that way...

sam Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 04:21 AM EST

Those names are just rumors. We'll have to wait until Monday to see the actual names. I'm sure some of those will be on the final list...maybe about half of them.

Anna Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 12:30 AM EST

I kind of like Kim Kardashian. Yeah she has a sex tape but it seems like most of her peers do, only she hasn't been in any trouble since. Also unlike the others she actually does know how to hold down a job, she doesn't serial date random men, comes from a close-knit family, and seems like a nice-enough person.

I have no idea who Warren Sapp or Jeff Ross are. If I watch I'd probably watch for Kim, Chloris Leachman and Maurice Greene.

Carli Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 11:05 PM EST

If this list is correct, I'm with you Annie. My allegiance is definitely with Misty.

Lori Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 10:44 PM EST

I would LOVE to see Misty May but I can't imagine she would have time to even consider being on the show while preparing for the Olympics.

Here's my theory...I think that all of these names are at least under consideration and the producers of the show leak the names to the press to see the public reaction. Then they refine the list based on popular choices. So I would imagine that, based on this discussion, they are furiously trying to contact Misty's people to get her on the show while telling Kim K. "no thanks"

Tina Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 09:30 PM EST

I'm really upset with ABC for Kim K. she does nothing and gets on. Someone has a good agent. I may not watch now.

TC Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 09:28 PM EST

WELL LETS ALL TAKE OUR CLOTHES OFF AND MAKE A DIRTY VIDEO LIKE KIM KARDASHIAN. MAYBE TIME TO SHUT OFF MY TV.

Dave Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 08:27 PM EST

So I guess that rumor about Dan Quayle being in the cast this time was not true. That's good news!

shelby Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 08:25 PM EST

These names are just rumors. This happens every year before the new season starts. Some of these are just gossip..but others you'll see on the show.

KG Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 08:01 PM EST

So I'm guessing Misty hasn't started rehearsing yet? Cuz she's been a little busy lately.

Katja Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 08:00 PM EST

Two things:
1. ew, I am so joining the not-voting-for-Kim pact. I can't believe ABC would pick her.
2. Oh come on. Lance is not going to dance with a man. Personally, I wouldn't have a problem if he did, but it's ballroom dance - a man dances with a woman, without reference to either's actual sexual orientation. How many male dancers are gay, but continue to dance with females? Just look at So You Think You Can Dance. This is an art form requiring certain roles...being gay has nothing to do with it.

Phil Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 07:20 PM EST

Go Misty! I hope at least that one is 100%! It was so nice to see her and Kerri sweep the Olympics without even dropping a set, and adding to their ever expanding overall win streak. She's so competitve it's almost scary!

As for Warren Sapp, I think his weight is under 300 lbs now. He should be at least somewhat light on his feet for this competition... maybe not as much as Jerry Rice or Emmitt Smith. It should be interesting having a DL on the dance floor!

Andrew Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 07:13 PM EST

Ugh I CANNOT stand Lance Bass! He's one of the most obnoxious people on the planet and he puts UH in UGLY!

jorge Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 06:42 PM EST

You all will be very surprised by Warren Sapp if he decides to put 100% into this competition. You have never seen a 6'2 300+ man move like he can. The guy returned 6 kicks for TD's in high school. He has a great personality too and is very funny.

Larry Carroll Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 06:32 PM EST

Nastia Leukin! Now there is a woman with some great moves!

LT Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 06:22 PM EST

i do not understand why a porn star was picked to be on DWTS...SHE IS NOT A STAR, SHE IS A HO who got paid to sell SEX!

i have watched this show since season 1 and may actually boycott it this season

i thought this was a family friendly show???

so how will they introduce her? famous Porn star and football player g-f, look at her famous money making a$$. OMG

Kate Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 06:21 PM EST

Does Jeff Ross mean the actor/comedian Jeffrey Ross who is always on the Comedy Central roasts?

Liz Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 06:17 PM EST

I don't understand how participating in this show is beneath an olympic athlete. Dancing is challenging - particularly for someone who has not had much, if any, dance experience. I would think anybody with a competitive spirit would jump at the opportunity to learn something new and enjoy her/himself in the process. I would do it in a second!!!!

To Melinda65 Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 06:12 PM EST

I join the pact to refuse to vote for Kim. She is not entertaining in any way and yes, Bruce Jenner's face scares me.

I do not mind the rest of the cast. Brooke Burke is unassuming and likeable, unlike Mark (he just annoys me) and Kim (need we say more). Jeff Ross is funny, and Maurice Greene is a gold medal track star. Warren Sapp is going to be like Clyde, not Jason.

brenda Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 05:56 PM EST

Jeff Ross is an actor/comedian. He's a friend of Jimmy Kimmel's which helps explain how he landed a spot on DWTS.

Michael Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 05:37 PM EST

I do think that calling homosexuality a personal choice is ignorant, so I agree. Because it just isn't. And saying that children shouldn't see two men dancing together is hateful I think: how are two men dancing together any less kid friendly than what appears on the show?

Sigh. it's all so odd. DWTS has had sexy dance numbers, we've seen men and women kiss each other on the show, why is that kid friendly but two men dancing together not? It just makes me sad. goodnews is times are changing for the better: 20 years ago, lance bass would not have been out, and ten years ago he wouldn't have been invited to be on the show. hopefully it's not too long before people stop caring about whether or hnot someone is gay or straight.

So, yeah, I have to agree with the other poster, ignorant and hateful.

Dance Fan Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 05:34 PM EST

Who is Jeff Ross?

Jay Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 05:26 PM EST

Wow...ignorant and hateful? So, we have the judge of this forum here. I don't think you should post here anymore either if you are going to impose your views on people. Being free and loose is just as bad as being narrow minded. Respect gay people as people, but it is not necessary to put them above yourself or other straight people. It is a sad state of affairs to see people bash their own people for others. As for wanting kid friendly programs, it is just a dancing show, if Lance Bass just dances, then there is nothing to worry about.

I Agree Betty! Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 04:30 PM EST

I think everyone's personal choices should remain that way, including your choice to remain ignorant, and somewhat hateful. So we'd thank you not to post on this board again.

That being said, sexuality is not a personal choice, it's the way people are born, so your comment is also irrelevant and contradictory.

But Lance should dance with a woman, I think, because for purposes of evaluation it would be difficult, I think, to compare two men or two women dancing together to a man and a woman, and also hard for his partner, who would have trained with women all these years.

I doubt ABC would let him dance with a guy, anyway - but kudos to them for sleecting an out gay man to be on their show. Somewhat progressive, i think.

Betty: if you want to start a petition to get something less offensive to your children on air instead - maybe old Rock Hudson movies or reruns of Richard Chamberlain in Dr. Kildare - you could do that instead.

also Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 04:28 PM EST

Misty May had a pretty good move for a few seconds right after she took the flag from a fan last night after their golden win.
I think she would be fun to watch.

AC Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 04:08 PM EST

OMG! Erica Kane!! You know I'm rooting for Susan Lucci! And for someone who tried saying that she's this year's Jane Seymour: Jane's other "job" was painting, while Susan Lucci will probably still have to work (in NY!) at her real job so she has it a lot tougher.

CW-dude Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 04:04 PM EST

Whoe Betty....what a random and lame thing to say.

betty Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 03:53 PM EST

I hope for the show that they have Lance Bass is going to be dancing with a woman and not a man. This show is seen by many of younger children and people I believe that his personal choice should remain that.

stacey Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 03:52 PM EST

wow...i'm a huge fan of the show, but this line up is ridiculous. i'm guessing b/c misty is the early favorite (even though the show hasn't even started yet!) that she will not do well b/c everyone hopes she does...including my hubby and i. maybe next season will be better!

Stephanie T. Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 03:46 PM EST

Kim Kardashian is going to need a bigger costume. Remember, this is supposed to be a family oriented reality show.

Melanie Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 03:38 PM EST

I have never heard of most of these people, and the ones I DO know (except for Lance Bass) are practically ANCIENT! PLEASE! If this is the best line-up they can come up with, maybe this SHOULD be the last season! Hopefully Misty will get paired with MAXIM so it's at least worth watching for a little while!

peaches Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 03:32 PM EST

I'm in the minority her but I secretly love Kim Kardashian! She's my guilty pleasure and I'll be watching DWTS to see her shake that big ol' booty!

kjm Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 03:29 PM EST

Who's Maurice Green and who are they going to be dancing with? Please tell me they are bringing Maks back!!!

aps Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 03:17 PM EST

hmm. let's see.
Kim Kardashian: Ditto. Ugh. really what will it be. "Famous for having a sex tape and big ass-Kim Kardashian"
Lance Bass: not really sure why. we've already had an nsync-er. i mean, i guess i get it, but i'm not a fan.
Toni Braxton: typical really.
Brooke Burke: this is where they could've really gotten someone better (besides KK).
Maurice Greene: im cool with it. i actually remembered him when his name came up.
Cody Linley: how is there not a better disney star. someone that has done....something.
Susan Lucci: she'll try to be this seasons jane seymour.
Warren Sapp: i don't think he'll be very good. he's such a big dude. never been a fan of him as a person/personality.
Misty May-Treanor: oh yeah!!! early favorite. she's worked hard and she and kerri are fantastic and deserves time off.
Ted McGinley: eh typical
Mark McGrath: ew. maybe because i just don't like him.
Cloris Leachman: good line up there.
Jeff Ross: plug plug plug something a la corolla 'til gone?

mscisluv Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 03:07 PM EST

So actually I enjoy Mark Magrath, bus is THIS what he left Extra for?

MsDaisy Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 03:05 PM EST

As long as Misty doesn't think she has to sprinkle her mother's ashes on the dance floor like she does the Olympic beach then I'm okay with her.

GOB Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 02:56 PM EST

Kim Kardashian? Were Bobby Trendy and Bai Ling unavailable?

Angie Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 02:54 PM EST

Misty is 5'10"...Gee,I wonder who they will partner her with...Happy Dance!!! Maks,Maks,Maks,Maks!! Whooo Hooo!

Melinda65 Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 02:42 PM EST

I don't see the big deal about Misty May-Treanor being on the show; out of all of the reality shows, this is one of the more innocuous. Maybe she wants to learn how to dance and figures that she may as well have fun and make money while doing it.
However, can we make a pact that nobody votes for Kim Kardashian? Not only is she already over-exposed, but seeing Bruce Jenner in the audience could be mentally scarring.

Michael Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 02:31 PM EST

BOO! No Adam West or Tom Selleck? I heard they were pretty much locks not long ago!

Sarah Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 02:25 PM EST

Oh Mark McGrath. My respect for you rose when you were leaving Extra to re-start Sugar Ray, but it has now gone back down to where it was when you were on Extra.

Annie B. Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 02:05 PM EST

Aw, come on guys -- Misty and Kerri are probably retiring anyway, and this show is harmless. Plus, she's a total ham and has no shame. She's perfect for it.

oracle Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 02:02 PM EST

Can't wait to see Toni Braxton on that show

CZ Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 02:01 PM EST

I was hoping for Tim Gunn.

Alex Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 01:51 PM EST

And Misty, another thing. You and your partner who deserves as much credit as you beat a strong Chinese team last night who no doubt trained for years for a chance at their moment. Your rivals have been disciplined, hardworking people with commitment and grueling schedules. If you do this, your rivals will be the guy from Married with Children and Kim Kardashian (!) the dark haired Paris. That is lowering yourself. Yes, Kristi Yamaguchi did this, but years after she won her Olympics. I'm not saying you can't do it-you would win handily- but all of it is beneath you.

Fletch Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 01:40 PM EST

What about Stephen Hawking? Can we get him on the show?

Alex Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 01:36 PM EST

What the hell? Misty May you have not lost 108 matches, you have defended your gold medal-something that has never been done in beach volleyball-and you can do anything you want becuase you deserve it. But this? A cheesy TV dance competition? You're a world class athlete! Is Michael Phelps going to do Big Brother? Shawn Johnson joining the Real World? Please stay far far away from this group of C/D list celebrities trying to desperately garner attention.

Sarah Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 01:27 PM EST

yay! the cast looks awesome this year, btw cody linely is a disney channel "star" and like 16 years old, but misty may has my early allegiance so far... especially after seeing her dancing down the steps of the great wall of china, classic
